Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit, share laughter/Shed a tear with friends, newcomers always welcome!
Looks lovely Betty. Just catching up reading all the posts. You sure have been busy!
Very pretty and peaceful looking!
Taking my SIL out to lunch became an ordeal. I wish I had insisted on bringing in food like I suggested. I half expected her to cancel on me, this is a familiar pattern. She did want to go to the restaurant. Unfortunately, she could not get into my car, even with help. She suggested we take HER car. Between her parking too close to line AND the neighbor doing the same, no way could we get in the drivers side door open. I would have just gotten in the passenger side and slid over but then Carolyn could not get in without help. It was clear to me, even if I did all the jockeying and got her into the car etc, she could never make it INTO the restaurant. She is finally admitting she needs an electric scooter. THANKFULLY her apartment is handicap accessible.
I ended up ordering takeout and bringing it back to eat in her apartment. Thank goodness for my phone map AP because my car GPS put me a couple of blocks away in a commercial food processing plant.
Today Marie and I drive to Prosser (an hour away) to get some novelty fabric she wants for a custom sewing machine cover we are sewing in class the next 2 Fridays.
Waving Carol, indeed I have been, with Covid and all the rain could feel myself getting into the dumps, not a good place ..sitting on couch not my thing.
How is the weather in your neck of the woods? Would be nice if it weren’t for the constant wind we have been having?
Lordy Pay, you will know better next time and just order in..I so envy you being to walk through a fabric, store..I haven’t had novelty fabric in over a year. Big sigh
Enjoy your day..
Did groceries this morning, so many of big box stores had hanging baskets on sale for Mother’s Day, well I have to say they were the saddest baskets I’ve ever seen, guess it’s back to buying $30-35 baskets at nurseries...I did buy a begonia basket, it didn’t look too bad..thing if I had a few more that would be all I need..could do with 2 fern baskets though for the front but not a must.
Got dressed this morning at grabbed a blouse, all of a sudden I shed a tear, here is was one of Helene’s she gave me last spring..hard to believe Covid just took her life..63 wayyy too young.
Took 1/2 the ham I cooked a few weeks ago from freezer yesterday, trying old fashion country breakfast again, no fat in the ham vs bacon that made me sick last week..homefries are cooking..I’ll fill my tummy work and back area of the lot and see what I can do to temporarily hide the neighbour.
Other than Pat what are you all up to?
THAT is a cute top! I understand seeing things we have been gifted by friends, some long gone.
Damn Covid, she had a painful death
Hi Again,
Pat. what a disappointment when things went wrong for your lunch out.
We are only allowed to do take-out here.
Betty,
I did some garden cleanup out back and then had a bonfire. Clouded over , so I came in and rested and then watched a movie. I watched Dylan Lock's Mother's Day concert on facebook. He is such a talented young man. His wife's first Mother's day.
Thanks for the new room Betty.
Not doing much today, other than groceries and a few stops. Then back home.
Dianne, sorry to hear you have a concussion. Please take it easy.
Betty - that muffin tin is a great idea!
woke up today to snow......... Snow melted, then switched to rain. We really needed the moisture. Glad of it.
I haven't planted the garden yet. I've really been working on my yard.
btw - I got the cell & home phone bill today, I looked at Bob's usage, and he literally phoned her every day, except the last 3 of the month when he was living with her. Printed & saved it - will be good for the divorce proceedings 👌
Happy mother's day ladies.
Happy Mother’s Day Everyone and to you who care for fur babies..
Will be a sunshine day..Drats we had frost last night and I didn’t cover anything up..crawled into bed after 4 and didn’t think of it..
Carol, only take out here as well, I don’t do it other than Chinese a few times..if nothing else I’ll be a half decent cook when Covid is over, even trying new recipes lol
Yes Dylan is a nice young man..lives a street over from Greg, talented and doing a service.. I also have a friend who actually opened at Grand Ole Opry and performs weekly..Harold McIntyre..if you don’t mind country music I’ll send the link.he sure is getting old, voice crackles but reminds me of younger days
Susan, they will for sure be good to have, I would not have been able to go through them, would have hurt too much
Sounds like you are still not 100% Lindakay, you are knowing your limits.
Was just talking to LeeAnn, he was going to hospital in hopes someone there would bring flowers/homemade card from all of them into Wilena..just so sad knowing it is more than likely her last mother’s Day
if only, If only he could go in and give Wilena a hug..
Well it’s time to make a coffee and walk the gardens and see what damage there is
Enjoy your day
Happy Mother's Day to all. Thank you, Betty. Please send the link to Harold. I do enjoy country music. Sunshine here too. Hope all your plants survived.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone - whether you had human babies, or fur babies, we've all cared for our babies and deserve to be honoured 💖
Happy Mother's Day, ladies!
Just came in, freezing out there brrr
Got 4 1/2 hrs edging and working front and side gardens, just ate and should go back out even if it’s to clean up my tools but decided I would have a nap first, tired...
Here I was on my knees gabbing to mom and Jeff, multi tasking lol while some walking buy were saying happy mother’s day..even the neighbour running the Root Cafe asked if I’d like a hot tea...took a 15 minute break while talking to Marie..she is pleased with her darden..while sitting she said there were a few big limbs laying across the hydro pole and was go8ng to cut them down..her hubby said better ask Betty, she told him Betty said she could do anything she wanted to in that area so guess the limbs come down..
Eyes are getting heavy, have Dr.Ho working on my arms, a knitted afghan to cover myself up and it’s nap time
Hope you are enjoying your day
Happy Mothers day to ALL!!!
LindaK, glad to hear you are feeling better.
Susan, he is an IDIOT. Enough said!
Our restaurants have barely opened but I still plan on avoiding them in general.
My brother always teased me about my "Goat roper music". (Women don't rope steers, we rope goats, hence goat roper music for my Western music)
Mother’s Day almost over, had a lovely day..
Noah dropped in with chocolates just after Kyle brought lunch, Kentucky fried chicken and lovely 3ft plant from Greg and Mel..gorgeous, brilliant with reds, pinks and dappled greenery..hate to put outside
Jeff and I grabbed for quite awhile, he understood why I thought it best he not come from the city..once he has Covid vaccine then perhaps an outside visit.
Had a visitor locked in my back porch, Greg opened door to get rid of him..by the look of the mats on back porch, inside my kitchen and going downstairs were all askew I think it’s not a good idea to leave doors open for Ziggy to go in and out..
Look at the ceiling, he was clawing, one screen I have to replace grrr
Am sure he was in the house
Oh.... they can be so destructive! and higher risk for rabies than many wild creatures.
Not a good beasty to have drop in. They are indeed very destructive.
Glad you got the little bandit outside.
Those flowers are beautiful.
Morning, not sure if we had frost last night but I did bring in the planters..set them out this morning for another day of sunshine.
Hope you all enjoyed your day yesterday..
Thanks Lindakay, is a beautiful arrangement, now to decide where I can put it so I see it the most..
Need to bake something this morning..maybe Ruby’s applesauce cake, miss having a treat to go with my coffee. Have everything under control in the gardens and house so think I’ll bring the board I prepped and do some painting on it til it warms up..
My goal this week is to edge 16 cement blocks in the little back garden and clean between the patio slabs, see grass is starting to grow..am sure I came across some weed killer I could spray to help no growth.
What do you all have planned, anything special??
Good morning.
Going to the quilt shop to put binding on the quilt.
Sounds like an enjoyable morning/day
My day is exercise, on Zoom and then dentist appt. for cleaning and a check-up
Too cold and windy today for outside work. Going to put my hanging baskets in the garage ain tonight. I think Wed. s going to be nice and sunny and 15c.
Yikes Carole, maybe I should get up and bring mine in, what to do, Drats, knew I forgot to do something, what to do, what to do??
We must have had same weather..will it ever warm up?
Rain here in the afternoon tomorrow.
Is your zoom class taught by someone local? Think I’d take a double class of zoom vs the dentist.
Lordy that woke me up Carole
These baskets are far too expensive to rake the chance brrrr
I am here. I get so busy doing nothing. I had a ice Mother's Day dinner with my daughter and her family. Two boys are home and third one gets here tomorrow. Our weather is in high 80s, low 90s. Appears we will have o wind this week. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow for cleaning. I am with you Betty, I would rather do nothing than go to the dentist, even for a cleaning.
Betty, according to my i phone weather report, you will getting rain or snow several times this week. I put you on my regular report.
Linda, so pleased you are feeling better. It is amazing how much better you get when they determine what is wrong with you.
I spent over 3 hours Thursday and 2 hours Friday dead heading lowers. It is a daily task this time of year.
Photo is my front garden taken by a neighbor on her new i phone 12. She sent it to me. You can see why I have so much dead heading to do. Violets are already spent and I will need to make a tip to the nursery to find out what they have in stock for the heat. May be to early. I didn't get any tomatoes planted but have three volunteers up and growing so I will just put cages around them and call it a day.
Wow! Sharon your home and gardens are beautiful! Well, I have one small cavity, so will have an appt. early June.
Betty, glad you put your hanging baskets inside. There is frost on the neighbor's roof this morning.
BEAUTIFUL garden!!
Yesterday was garbage day & I had LOTS of room so decided it would be a good plan to do the massive pruning needed for the butterfly bush. What I could not cut with the long handled pruners, I cut with a hand saw. I am surprised that I am not more sore this morning.
Son, Dana. & his wife Carrie are still sleeping and I will be making them waffles this morning. Carrie has lots of visiting with her friends planned for the day, Dana & I are on our own. Dana really is a wizard with finances, and since I mentioned that really do need to set up a budget etc, he has decided that is what we are doing today. Maybe we will venture out and I will purchase a board game that we like. I don't have a copy of Splendor, maybe now is a good time.
Breathtaking Sharon, you are in your own garden of Eden..how absolutely beyond inviting... you are so blessed.not a wonder it takes hours for you to deadhead..
Wonderful you got to spend Mother’s Day with family
Should not have gone out to take coverings off the plans, went out awhile ago and you are right, is cold enough to snow...brrrrr
Pat, good luck with your budget, garden time is a hard time to not go over
I am not a game person so I haven’t heard of
I will make sure they are all covered before before I climb into bed this time, was so tempted to not go out and would have lost them
Wanted to burn again before rain hits but too windy and cold so I will knit for a bit.
Tuesday again, thought I bought 2 pkgs of garlic spices for chicken but bought one bbq..you bake in the bag provided so I guess we will have a choice..I’ll cut up goodies to top baked potatoes...have desert in order so it will be an quick and easy meal.
This morning has seemed like 3 days wrapped in one
Decided not to work on adding all the trees and shrubs on that board I’m painting..next trip to the back it will go in fireplace...
Yawning, maybe it’s nap time
Morning everyone, just went to take covering off the hanging baskets and specialty plants and although the sun is out you need a winter coat .. rosy it was cold at 6a.m.
Likely won’t be till noon before I get out to play.
Supper was great, three take home dinners were made up and I still have enough for a few meals..
Melanie had been using up some of my old scraps of wool into grannie squares, she just started knitting, wanted to make herself something to sit near bonfires while camping..she did a great job for beginner.
Somber night, mel’s Best friend Janice’s brother died Sunday night, she got news yesterday her cousin, 47 years old hung himself..his wife had left with kids, too much for him, he left house door open knowing someone would venture in..neighbour after a day of seeing it open finally checked..
Ann is coming over, has a project for me to do for her..
Look at this week’s weather, here is hoping I’ll not have to worry about frost
oh Betty - how sad..........
This past year has caused a lot of people to have problems and to be honest, I'm not surprised as I've heard the suicide rate has gone up
I have a plumber coming in 4 hours, to fix my outside water tap - it was shut off for last winter, apparently leaking and I can't crawl under the mobile to turn it back on. He's going to put copper pipe in, and create a shut off tap for me so I can turn it off/on, for the winter/Spring, mounted on the outside of the deck for me. He's local & knowing my situation he's going to "take care of" me and not charge me a lot - under $100 he says. He's done work for others in the area & they all say he's good. I was given his name on the local Buy/Sell/Info FaceBook site. Neighbours are being so kind & helpful, knowing that I'm "suddenly single"

So sorry to hear that Betty. Sad indeed. Sending prayers for the family.
Susan, nice to hear there are still people around to help each other out like that.
That's the nature of a small hamlet of 200 people. Everyone now knows what's going on, I'm finding people are realizing that she & Bob are not telling the truth and sympathies have swung away from her to me. At first they thought "poor Naomi, Susan's making more of this than there is." People are seeing what's going on between them, and not approving at all.
Morning all, sunshine day in my neighbourhood, have pillows to do for Ann, she would like them by Saturday so I’ll go work on them..once it warms a tad I will be out cutting grass and edging a few cement walking stones.
Glad you have someone who is willing to repair and give you a break $$$ wise.i lived in a small community beforeA and yes everyone knows all details, even if you stub your food, most times it’s a benefit as they are always there to help..couldn’t tell you what anybody is doing these days, different times being in-house except for groceries.
Having a tea in hopes it settles my tummy, appetite all but gone, have to get up a few times during each night because 8m soaking wet and have to dry myself off, open all the windows..checked my meds, all the same so not sure what’s going 9n..was in bed by 4pm yesterday..if it weren’t for Ziggy crying I’d still be in bed.
Dianne how are you feeling?
Carole, bet you are getting same weather as I am, great day for you to be outside
Karen how are the decks coming, almost done?
Deb, bet those puppies are size
Lindakay, did you get the quilt done
Sharon, hoping you are sitting with book in hand enjoying your gardens
Liz, hoping all is well with you,
Judy had posted awhile ago, so enjoyed her post, haven’t heard from her since...wondernif her mother in law is still with her?
Good sunny morning. I will be doing what Betty is - waiting until it warms up a little. If the WLs are right we are in for 60 - 70* temps all week.
Kai went to the vet yesterday to have a weigh in and get this month's Nexguard. He is 66 lb.
LK happy to see you felt well enough to go to the quilt shop.
Today I am hoping I can get the TH;s enclosure cleaned up without causing me to get dizzy and a headache.
What's everybody uup to today ?
Kai had his weigh in yesterday at the vet's. That sounds like WW. He will be 6 months on May 24 and he is 66 lb. In a month's time he'll be weighed again. Since he is growing like a bad weed he has to be weighed monthly to determine the correct dosage for lyme, ticks and fleas. He gobbles the dose down as does Chaos. Kai is the first dog I have owned that doesn't like PB nor will he heat bread.
How are those 2 pups doing Deb ?
Started the clean up in the TH'S enclosure. I'll go back out later this afternoon and do some more. I will probably get waylaid by the splitter asking me to split some wood.
Sharon your gardens are beautiful.
Ooops Kai is here with his bowl in his mouth - I am late getting his lunch.
