A nice day in Vegas. Rain is gone but wind is suppose to be back tomorrow. Garden helper found a steal on slate and he bought it by to finish my walkway around my hill. It was needed because the one area had river bottom rocks and I was not even close to being sturdy on my feet. So that eliminated a fall possibility. I had a late start. Couldn't sleep last night and then I got up late. Then a gardener friend stopped by and stayed an hour. So after she left, I curled my hair, fed and walked the dogs. By that time it was 1:30. Half the day gone.
Daughter's youngest son Jacob got is Eagle Scout today.
Betty so sorry to hear that about your friend. God bless her and her family.
Not much going on here. I will check in tomorrow.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Spring is on its way, come sit awhile and chat..newcomers always welcome!
Happy St,Patrick,s Day everyone
Be back in a bit

Happy St. Patrick's Day all. I've been watching Irish dancers on TV. I surely hope that those who wait all year to celebrate this day will wait another year so they CAN celebrate.
I hear Kai screaming I'm thinking Chaos decided enough pestering by the pup is enough. I'll go let them in. Kai slept through the night .... woo hoo.
Sharon, Eagle Scout is quite something for a young man..congratulations Jacob
how exciting to get the slate, I have a good portion around the pond but I watch myself around of it as the slate is thicker in areas and easy to trip..
Supper last night was a success, I ate an entire plate full, others had 2 even asked if they could take home the remaining pieces of chocolate pie, they’ve now gone from dieting to watching what they are eating lol
Pulled my today’s ‘jar to do’ and got FREE DAY hurrah
Not bitter cold outside but cold enough that Ziggy did not want to stay out..
I’ll work on a few projects and later I will be to back shed and look for Easter Totes, tomorrow is packing up St.Patty’ s day and move on to Easter. Can you believe it’s but weeks away.
Greg and his friend John are leaving thursday for his final snowmobile weekend, it’s a 6 hr. Drive so Melanie might come sew on Saturday unless her mom and dad needs her.
Another beautiful sunset, breathtaking
I had decided once a week I’d take one of the bins from under my ironing board unit..yikes, I bought so much specialty supplies when I was making those little girl quilt you dressed up, can see if Kyle and Brianna have a girl it will come in handy..
There are so many people that are symptomatic that is becomes so hazardous to be exposed to anyone. So sad to have infected someone. I am grateful for the vaccine and hope that lessens my chances of not only getting it but unwittingly passing it on to someone else. At the Adult Family Home where my Aunt is, they have FINALLY started allowing 30 minute visits and they must be scheduled.
Sounds like your dinner was a HUGE hit Betty! Besides pie, what was your meal that was so tasty???
I would never have thought at this age we would be celebrating our pets "sleeping thru the night"! Sounds like back when we had infants. My poor little guys were ALWAYS slow to sleep thru the night and at 6 months when I switched from breast feeding to formula, the ear infections would start... glad that is all over!
Today I meet with my group for the embroidery BOM. and exchange blocks with my group members. The AllPeopleQuilt group should have released their new BOM today as well. THAT ought to keep me busy.
AFFORDABLE slate! Yahooooo! My SisIL gave me some of her excess but I have not yet used it.
Susan, let's hope your beautiful shawl pattern has now been conquered.
"sleeping thru the night" lol Pat, I was thinking the same thing about babies!
as for my shawl.......... well, it was the last pattern row & only 7 knit rows after, for this section, so I "fudged it". There are 3 more similar patterns to join together, then the center panel. I realized, by "doing the math" that they were wrong in the # of stitches. oh well, after 60 years of knitting, I know how to "fudge it" well lol
Pat, I believe it was you who asked about cookie tray pillows, I finished the 2 Rita wanted, now that I too fudged the project lol the 2nd one took me 3 1/2 hrs primarily because I was sewing scrap pieces of same fabric I had, the seams are right where I needed them to be..next one if I ever make them should only take a few hours..took picture as I went through the process..kids should enjoy them while travelling, cute pocket on the side for their toys!
Am sure your knitting project will be stunning, lots of hours in it I’m sure I you will look amazing wearing it.
Pat, can’t get Ziggy to not meowing and crying at 6am, big sigh..likely I would sleep in from time to time
I was telling my niece last night, wouldn’t it be wonderful if the had a ‘the day after pill’ like they do for those worried about pregnancy..simply have visitors and take a Covid day after pill when the leave 😉
Melanie’s favourite was pork chops sauté in mushroom soup and white rice..
Greg is not fond of it not I, I tasted it and as long as I didn’t eat mushrooms it was fine..but I cooked chicken fried rice and chicken souvlaki, peas and made mashed potatoes, they like the onions and butter in them.. they took pie home except a piece I will have for supper..have enough for lunch and supper.
So we had Greg’s favourite, then Mel so we said next week it will be mine..are they in for a surprise lol truth it I live mashed potatoes, peas and thick slice bologna lol
Betty - those bags are stunning!
Do you have any blackout curtains so Ziggy would sleep in, too?
How scary!! I hope they find everything will be OK. So young to have these injuries. She will be in my prayers.

A friend posted this in another house. Very lucky people.
Praying for Rita's granddaughter, as well as for those that Karen posted .
How scary.
It is so scary when grandchildren get ill or hurt. Praying for Rita's GD.
Betty your inner sound delicious. I always love casserole type of meals. Anything with mashed and gravy tweaks my interest. But I do not eat it. I just make it and feed it to other people. That satisfies me. I had a cucumber sandwich for dinner and that is one of my favorite meals. I usually only eat two meals a day. I, like Pat, watch carbs. I have no problem with sweets because I really do not like sweets. Like Pat, Karen and whoever I missed, I have lost 50 lbs many many times. I swear, this loss of 30 lbs that I have recently had is my last weight loss needed. I have given away all of my larger size clothes so if I get bigger, I will have nothing to wear.
Linda, we are headed to high 70s. The irises I transplanted have not pushed out any new growth. Keeping my fingers crossed. Plumeria cuttings got rained on. Hope that didn't cause them any harm. Suppose to keep dry because they may rot.
Karen, my younger brother had diarrhea for close to 2 years and went to Mayo Clinic back East and they discovered what was causing it and stopped it. He was skin and bone and now he weighs close to 280. He says he does not have a spot on his body that does not hurt. Makes my heart hurt. My mother's side of the family always had weight problems. My dad was always very thin.
The first photo is the plants I purchased to move forward with my new hill. Second and third photo is my new slate walkway. This project will be finished tomorrow.
Betty, look at the back of the photo with the plants I purchased. There is the bag you brought me when you dropped by. It is waiting in my trunk waiting for Trader Jo's letting us bring back our own bags. I always get precious comments when I use it.
I was poked and prodded, scope and tested for over a year. I was even sent to U of MI. No cause was ever found. No drugs were ever of any effect. My Drs. now keep asking me if I want to see a Gastro again and I just tell them no. I'm not up to going through all that again. Some of the things were pretty awful. I cannot even finish a meal before it starts. It then lasts several hours. I don't eat until after noon and usually just something light, maybe a scrambled egg or half a sandwich. Then dinner my meals are also light. Maybe half a chicken strip, a spoon of some veggie and a spoon of cottage cheese with a glass of milk. It's just easier to not eat much.
They rushed Rita’s granddaughter to McMaster children’s hospital
Have my microwave froggies on my left eye, headache of sorts
It’s lightly snowing
Won’t chat now, be back later
Spending prayers for Rita's granddaughter, as well as for you Betty.
Betty wondering why Rita's DGD was sent to McMaster and not Sick Kids ? Sending positive thoughts for a great recovery.
Dull dreary day here. Supposed to be warm on he weekend - like no sweater type warm.
Well Kai will be spending his overnights in his crate. I hadn't been sleeping so took a sleeper last night. It appears Kai had a wonderful time by all the things I found on the floor. He attacks paper like it is going to bite him and shreds into a million pieces. I have never had a puppy this naughty but I am not complaining. He is a counter surfer extraordinaire. He is tall so when he jumps up on the counter he can reach right to the wall. This will make me tidy up a lot better than I have been.
Karen you sure are a trooper. I never hear you complain about your health.
Stay safe and well.
Evening all..
Thought I had posted earlier but must not have pressed send..I didn’t sleep much last night, was chatting with Rita..finally fell asleep about 3:and woke up at 4 the the vehicle next door honking it’s horn, I put the lights on to see if someone was trying to get into it, didn’t see anyone..just got back into bed and it did it again.
Jordan has fractures in L1 and sacrum..even shots of morphine isn’t helping..nothing they can do but therapy and long recovery..she came home this afternoon, will be on crutches.. Rita will go Sunday do Chrissy (mom) can go to work..she will stay as long as she is needed..a scare though
She was sent to Hamilton because they live in Orangeville, closer I would imagine.
Jordan called Chrissy right away in distress, Chrissy got there in a few minutes, both panicked they did not call police, Chrissy took her to hospital...Rita is not even sure if she got the drivers licence, insurance etc
Today or yesterday wasn’t the time for Rita to be asking questions..should have called both..we don’t think when something happens to our kids
Thanking you all for your prayers.
Sharon and I drove to Barrie this morning, Bernie lives in the bush so met us at main road..last week he got what doc says it’s psoriasis, Lordy his legs are raw and is spreading to his face..doctor will make an appointment with a specialist, who knows when that will be, in meantime he was suppose to call pharmacy but they said they hadn’t received it so hoping that got sorted out.
You are right Dianne, Karen never complains..
Kai thinks it’s self serve at your house..
I’ve had my bath, going to climb into bed, the sleeping pill I couldn’t take last night incase I had to drive Rita to Georgetown is still waiting for me
Sorry to hear of her injuries. She will be laid up for awhile I imagine. Will she need surgery?
Keeping her in our prayers.
Kai "Self serve" LOL.... Yep, he's a candidate for the crate at nights!
Praying for a swift recovery for Rita's grandchild. When we hurt it's bad enough, but when our KIDS hurt it is even harder on family.
Karen, I understand why you are not anxious to see another specialist. That said, how many years ago was that?? Every year we learn more about the human body, testing improves and new medications are developed.
Sharon, your slate walk way is so pretty. I would love to have one but the unevenness of the slate would probably not be a good idea for me and my clumsy feet.
Today was the first time I have had Thaddaeus, the black male lab, at the house. It has NOT gotten off to good start, that's sure. He sniffed around the house, acknowledged that Nova had been here. Then, went to the bathroom door and marked the wall!!! I don't know who yelled first, me or Adam! Adam discipled the dog, cleaned up. I still had pet urine remover spray.
Adam took the dog out to potty it, roamed the back yard and then on the way BACK into the house, along the rock walkway, he prompted pooped on my cement curbing and flower bed.
Adam left at 3.15 to go to work, it's after 6 PM and Thaddeus is still howling. It's not so bad when I'm in the sewing room and the embroidery machine is running... LOL.
THE GOOD NEWS!!! Governor has extended the moratorium on evictions which means Adam & family will be able to finish school in the house in Wooten. And I don't have to see Thaddaeus again until June! LOL The house was provided as part of Andrea's job and when they did not renew it's been a nightmare ever since. It's a shame because she LOVED the job and living in the mountains. It would not have been my idea of a good time. I don't consider myself a city slicker but sorry, I need paved roads, reliable cell service and good internet connection! A decent grocery store within 20 minutes is also necessity.
The 4th stitch out of 2nd design block is on the embroidery machine. I am afraid to leave it alone in the room with the cat and since there is NO where I can really put the cat, I am stuck here. I am so excited to have this deadline met WELL in advance! No more embroidery blocks due for a whole month. Now to start on my BOM for sewing.
Pat, that block is beautiful. I am with you and where to live. I am not one for out in the boonies. Dianne is way out there but she is tough and is in her own space, in her mind. I was raised out in the boonies. I escaped as soon as I graduated from high school. Had typing and shorthand skills so it was not difficult to find a job. So pleased you have a stay in the dog visit until June. Pat my slate in leveled into the ground so it doesn't move and is really smooth. Very few bumps.
My garden worker did not show today, did not call and did not text. He better be dead. I got the plants I purchased yesterday planted, everything watered and plumerias that are in the garage got watered along with the bougainvillea and coleus.
Everything in the garage will come out in about 2 weeks.
Betty, please let Rita know we all send our love. Hope your eye ache got better.
My daughter is in St. Louis visiting daughter and granddaughter.
We are now open 55% occupancy and tourists are coming back. Still a long road ahead for a lot of businesses. Many individuals in upper management in the hotels were terminated and over the year the hotels have determined they really are not needed. Should be interesting to just hide and watch. They were given very high buyouts though, so they will not be homeless.
It is only 7:45 and I am tired. I will check in tomorrow earlier. Hugs to all of you.
Pat the testing was about 10 years ago. Some of it was very unpleasant and some downright traumatic. I'm used to dealing with it now and not able to think about going through the testing again. It's no fun. I've had some very embarrassing moments. I've learned to carry extra clothes in the car. It's just a fact of my life now.
Good morning. The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day. The snow is almost gone on the lane. It is still there where the plow puts it. Most of the snow is off of the grass except for in the woods. This weekend's sunny spell will take care of that.
Haven't slept yet ... started a book and just couldn't put it down. I think I will have a shower, tidy up and go to Foodland. Maybe I will have a nap this afternoon.
Sharon I chuckled because I do love it out here in the boonies. I grew up in a rural area and left it as soon as I turned 16 and went to university. Then it was on to the big city for me. After years in Toronto we decided maybe the rural life would be good for us. Yep I ended up back in the boonies.
Oh Pat I feel for you and Thaddeus. That howling is so hard to listen to and so hard on the dog. You just wish they could understand when you tell them you will be right back. The TH howl when I leave so I have no idea how long it goes on for. My cleaning lady says Kai howls all the time I am gone.
Any news on the young girl Betty ? Did I read right she is at home and on crutches?
According to GMA it is the last day of winter. Hurrah !!
What's everybody up to today ?
Morning all, sunshine day in my neck of the woods as well, this weekend will be spectacular, know there will be cleanup in the front at least, everything looks dumpy at this time of year. If I was to start my lawnmower I could use the big pull cart if it’s not frozen, have a feeling though I’m rushing a tad, likely still snow to come..
I haven’t heard anything about Rita ‘s Jordan as yet, still early in the morning..I will make a point of calling her this afternoon, have to call Darlene as well, it’s her birthday.
Will be interesting Sharon to see how these large casino’s do without the upper management..likely better. Live the ‘better be dead’ comment on your gardener, hope he shows up.
Sharon picked me up at 7:45 am to do groceries..refrigerator and cupboards are filled, can’t get anything into it so there should be no need for groceries next week..
Bought a turkey, will cook it Easter weekend..steaks for Tuesday night..in order to fit all in freezer I had to eat 4 frozen waffles and take out hamburger patties for todays eats and the largest bag of frozen bananas so guess at some point today I will have to make muffins. We were home by 9:10, I even went to clinic to drop off a sample re kidneys.. while shopping the had plants that were on deaths row for $1.00 so Sharon told me to get a few, let them complete die off then plant in the spr8ng..cheaper than buying bells..
With tourists starting to come to town now that the nice weather is here will have to make any running around we have to do as soon as stores open, still doesn’t guarantee we will not catch Covid but it’s one step closer to being safe.
Pat it’s great that the children will be able to finish their year where they are, hard enough on kids let alone having to move schools..aren’t pets wonderful lol
I truly live that block, where did you purchase it..know it’s a block a month deal but maybe I’m still early enough to join?
Know what you mean Karen about all these tests, I remember being young and spending almost a year in the hospital because of my kidneys how embarrassed I was when the doctors would come in for consultation and bring young students in and uncover me. A lot of the tests as well were cruel. Hope you’re doing better... how very lucky you were to come out of having Covid. How’s the family now been feeling better?
Well now that I failed myself I better get busy, joanne has to pass my house later this afternoon and I told her I had some thing for her for Easter, one of those dish cloths and towels that I had embroidered the bunny on, then thought she makes those dish cloths so I decided to try and make a pillow, don’t have to put a pillow inside because she has plenty so before Sharon picked me up I did the embroidery so now I have to go down and finish the top and the bottom of the pillow, if I get mobile it should be done by the time she comes here
Hope you all have a sunshine day
Joanne just called me, she was in my drive, both masked..we talked for 5 minutes and off she went..yikes that wing is cold brrr of course I did not have a jacket on
She brought me a dozen of eggs, right out of the chicken coop before her coming here, hard to get eggs that fresh..wanted to use up those frozen banana’s, am sure the recipe calls for eggs so I will use up the old ones
Are you all out playing 8n the gardens, enjoying sunshine?
Tita’s Update:
The guy is being charged but apparently was a stand up fellow he's been checking in on her through Kristen young man about 29 got. married about a year ago and has a baby girl about six months old he was pretty traumatized...understandable
Well blood draw appointment was a bust today. She couldn't get into my veins. She didn't want to keep sticking me so as I'm seeing my oncologist next Tues. She gave me orders for what she needs too. I'm getting so very weary of this.
Karen, I am a tough stick as well. I hate having to have a blood draw as I never know if they will be successful or not.
Sharon, you can buy the pattern at EMBhome.com. http://www.embhome.com/mall/trapunto-quilt-blocksm-p-158177.html the background stitching was meant to be done in white but I wanted it to show up more. The person running this Mystery swap is only giving us ONE pattern per month at a time, we make 4 of the same, exchange them with our 3 other in the group. When we are done we will have 10 blocks in 4 different sets. Marie & I used the SAME thread on the same backgrounds (although different pattern sets) so we could combine into 20 blocks for one quilt. The person running it re-digitized the blocks to make them all 12 inch blocks. Marie and I used Isacord 2532, 3310, 2500.
The weather was beautiful here today. 78 and sunny and no wind. Going down tomorrow to mid 60s and wind. My lettuce and turnips hve not sprouted and been over 2 weeks, so I think the rain washed the seeds away.
The crew showed up today and sealed the driveway and patio. Looks lovely. Cannot put my car into the garage for 4 days.
Betty, so pleased Rita's granddaughter is going to be OK. Poor young man that hit her sounds like a very nice young man.
Karen, my mother had bad veins. They used to use the top her foot to get blood. I thankfully do not have that problem. I remember when my brother had a similar problem to your problem, Mayo put him on a drug that he needed a blood test every two weeks to make sure it wasn't killing him.
I have a friend that brings me fresh eggs every once in a while. Wow, what a difference. Bananas.... Just didn't eat them fast enough, froze them and never made anything with them. Finally got smart and quit buying them.
Dianne, I was raised in the boonies. Got out of there right after high school. My parents could not afford to send a girl to college and I could type and had shorthand so I could easily get a job. If I had gone to college I would have been a school teacher and not living the style I live today. I live the way I do today because I could sell you your own shoes. Good thing I was honest. A lot like Betty and the rest of you. Never met a stranger.
Betty, you are just about done with your day before I get up.
Hugs to all, Sharon
Morning all, I won’t have Sharon’s weather today but 48 will do me fine..
Losing your seeds Sharon to rains is disappointing but sounds you’ve got quite the newbies for the Gardens. Bet drive and patio is beautiful, guess you can’t place pots around yet, that will drive you crazy, a whole 4 days 😉 anything on them
Those few months I was in and out of the hospital it was brutal them getting blood as I was so dehydrated, yuk.
Made 16 banana muffins, wrapped them this morning in Saran Wrap otherwise I would keep eating til none left, this way when I have a craving out one comes.
Getting dressed then heading to Walmart, darlene’s Birthday was yesterday and she I’d so difficult to buy for because she has everything..know she just redid her washroom, crisp white so thought maybe this weekend I could monogram towel set for her..no place but Walmart so quick run in, maybe even wash my car.
I also have the spring towels embroidered with bunnies and dishcloths for wilena, Cyndi and Lee-Ann,I’ll take them in and set them on their desks..
maybe buy a package of jelly beans to go with them..
Clock it ticking, wanted to be gone by now
Enjoy your day
Pat that block is beautiful.
Betty, glad to hear the man that hit her is looking after her. So many are hit and runs, and you never hear from them again.
Darts Drats and more Drats...
Spent 5 hrs out burning limbs, raking and pulling tall spend flowers and now I am paying big time
Wasn’t I the one that said she would take it easy, little at a time, well I didn’t listen..have patches on my neck/shoulders grrr
Sorry to hear that Betty please take care of yourself and limit your time outside.
Went to the vet for the ultrasound this morning. We have 2 puppies on the way, due date is April 21st! I am thrilled to have a small litter like this. I'll probably keep them both. The ultrasound photos they sent me don't look like much, but, he said they were well formed and had good strong heart beats.
Pat, that block is beautiful!
Great news Deb, will be so exciting for you, something to look forward to for sure. Can you easily accommodate 2 more? don't you love seeing photo’s of your babes.
We’ve had spring weather today, on the upper high of spring..was thinking of going to last year March/April threads and see what I talked about re weather
Lindakay , been in bed for awhile, hoping tomorrow is another sunshine day..can’t believe the growth and green in the gardens, even buds on aa few shrubs
It was windy here when we woke up but has since slowed down. Dogs and I have already had two walks. One was our usual walk and then the children of the neighborhood were having a play date at the park area two house above my house, so we walked up there, said hello, got the mail and came home. Now it is the official time fr their afternoon walk.
Yes, Betty, driveway and patio look great. Crew leader came by this afternoon to pick up his check. He will be back later in the week to move back the patio furniture. I would do that but it is really heavy furniture. I took some photos this morning but they are not showing on my computer.
Deb, so pleased you are going to be the proud owner of two more pups.
Betty, you need to put a note on each door going outside to yourself. "Betty, Don't Over Do It". I have many different things that help me move objects. Wagon, wheelbarrow, flat dolly, rolling barrel and my handy outdoor walker. This walker has big wheels and goes over many uneven areas without missing a beat. I also use the walker for a remote seating area. If I get tired in the middle of the garden, I just pull up a seat and sit awhile. I also use another walker in the house to transport items from one room to the other. The walker in the house was Vern's and the one outside was one of my daughter's friend's moms.
I am going to take the dogs for their afternoon walk. I may return. Hugs, Sharon
