Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Spring is on its way, come sit awhile and chat..newcomers always welcome!

Went to Foodland, we need to call me to tell me that my bread rolls I had ordered that are to be kept in the freezer were in.. Took a quick run in and bought a few cases of pop and a lettuce and rather than take out hamburger out of the freezer bought a package of hamburger how do you learning for tomato hamburger for supper.

Had the intentions of going and do my one barrel work this morning when I got back from Foodland but drats talk about cold the wind just goes right through you so unless it gets warmer later in the day I won’t be going out.

That we do Lindakay, I’m staying with the unfinished projects, every corner I go to I seem to find one partially done. I was making the little children’s activity bags and yesterday I found one cut out, handles made .. simply have to sew for half an hour and it’s done that and another kit for a froggy so my goal today will be to finish those two and a bit more work on the floral freehand piece I need done before the end of the month and I’d be thrilled.

Glad I have variegated cotton to fill in knitting while resting upstairs,

Been missing for a bit, I lost one of my old boys on Wedsnesday night. The cough he developed last weekend was getting considerably worse. Ran him to the vet, she said his chest sounded bad, but xrays didn't show anything definitive. Ran a bunch of tests, and she sent us home. We'd been home maybe 30 minutes, and he was getting worse, quickly, got him in the car to run to the ER vet, and he didn't make it. A couple miles from home I realized that the heavy breathing and coughing had stopped. I pulled over to check on him and he was gone. The vet called me on Thursday and the radiologist they sent the xrays to diagnosed him as having pneumothorax, when air from the lungs leaks into the chest cavity. Really nothing could have been done. I just wish I realized that on Weds night at the vet, I would have had him put down so he wouldn't have had to struggle for breath for the last hour or so of his life, but, not something they could determine. Anyway, it's been a sad few days. The thought of pups coming is the one thing keeping me going right now.

So sorry to hear about you dog Deb. Never easy to lose a furry family member.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wrote a long post Deb, just after you posted, I never seem to learn, didn’t copy and got that the site was down, so frustrating.

There are no words, what a beautiful dog, sorry for your loss..it’s such a loss for you, and to think you were driving when he passed..horrific! It was a blessing he didn’t suffer long, would have been overwhelming to make the decision to euthanize...the new pups will help fill the void but the ache still with you..our furries are our family, know it’s a great loss..hugs Deb

Verona, ON

Oh Deb my heart aches for you .I am so sorry you lost your boy. Certainly understand your thoughts about knowing earlier what was wrong with him. Huge hugs coming your way from Chaos, Kai and I.

Visited Foodland as well Betty. It was really busy. All 4 cashes were open and every cash had a packer. Very few wearing masks but I kept mine on.

Sharon I am with you when these ladies start tossing out sewing terms. When I visited with Barb and Thea in Ottawa we went to a fabric store - of course. my glazed over. Barb was laughing saying to Thea "She has no idea what we are talking about".

I might be the only person in the world that has a huge Random House Dictionary on their toilet lid. Kai can lift it otherwise and was drinking then peeing over night. Since I've blocked his access the over night peeing has stopped. He really is a bright spot in my life. Yesterday he charged into the creek after the Canada Geese. He was in seventh heaven.

Rain all day again tomorrow. It was cold here today too. I had to put my winter coat on and wear a hat..

Stay safe and well everyone.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Deb, so sorry about your boy. He was a handsome boy.

Dianne, that book on the toilet cracks me up. We finally had no wind today and our high temps was c72f. Sunday is suppose to be 77 and Monday 81, then Tuesday back down to 66. I guess I will need to watch the weather channel and find out why our weather is going back down after a warm up. I can just picture Kai running into the water after the geese.

Betty, I have many gardening projects in the greenhouses and garage that need to be done. I did clean all three hummingbird feeders today and refill with fresh solution. I didn't buy to many plants at the nursery because I was looking for a certain color. Yellow and they had to be able to take direct sunlight and heat. Hamburger sounds good. I have not eaten much today because I gardened outside for about 4 hours. And walked the dogs twice. It is getting time for the dogs to eat. They were outside with me the total time I was out there and currently they are behind me on the chair in my bedroom snoring way.

You all have a wonderful evening and a fantastic morning tomorrow. Take care and big Hugs.

So very sorry Deb, it's heart breaking.

We will be going north in a few days. Our youngest daughter is fighting an ugly cancer and the battle is very hard for her. I didn't get to see her at Christmas because her hubby was sick. I just feel I have to see and touch her.
A friend made her a bracelet it has beads spelling in Morse Code F--k Cancer.
I found a local person who is making me a bunch of them for the rest of us to wear in support.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good Lord knows how to top me from overdoing in the gardens, will be an all day rain so inside it will be

Karen, so sorry to hear about your youngest daughter, the word cancer makes my tummy roll, flashbacks of memories as I am sure each of you have the same, we’ve all been touched, from young to old. I will add her to my prayer list. I certainly can understand the need to travel to be with her...safe safe travels, you are still fighting recovery and wouldn’t want a setback. The bracelets sound lovely.

Dianne, I am sure you are getting this rain..how odd some not wearing masks, a man walked in while I was at the water faucet washing my hands and he was stopped..no washing hands, no mask = no entry, favourite part come spring when I lived on the lake was watching swamp move in, can understand why Kai is amused by it all. Big smile, dictionary, maybe he will learn vocabulary..speaking of toilet seats, Greg is ordering the solar light that serves dual purpose, helps show where it is Nd is a night light..motion light..don’t need one but he thinks it’s exciting lol

Sharon I too have found I’ve little in bright yellow and vibrant red plants for early flowering..might follow suit and check out possibility rather than just buy..

Deb, hugs..know you are missing a best friend..

lindakay how is your quilting friend doing, she must be in so much pain from the burns.

Enjoyed my coffee, not sure if I will get out of my nightie before I head downstairs but might..few more days to before months end and my challenge with Sharon for March is at an end, so best I work on my projects today.

Let’s see if what I was getting yesterday happens again so best I copy just incase
In one instance says I wasn’t connected to internet but was. Hmm

Karen, sending angels to travel with your and your family to your daughter's side. May she be blessed with wellness with your visit.

Betty, God knows what he is doing. If you wont's slow down, he will make you slow down. You had better behave before the whole town floats away.

I did some cooking today for the week. Pork riblets, bacon meatloaf and sugar few chocolate pudding. Going to put cutup strawberries and redi-whip on the pudding.

The kids (animals) and myself had a good day. Nice weather, high of 75f and no wind. I added water to the KOI pond, watered numerous post in the back patio area and then we all moved to the front and watered my new little hill and some more pots. The pots really dry out in the wind and I do not want to run the whole irrigation system just to water the pots. Everything front and back is covered with yellow pollen. So pleased I do not have allergies.

Pat, hope you are having a great time on your visit.

You all have a wonderful evening and a fantastic Monday Morning. Hugs, Sharon

Morning, we actually had a dusting of snow last night, the cold goes right through you..talk about night winds..

Was an off day yesterday, had a few neocitron, set a box of Kleenex beside me and cuddled in an afghan, must of helped because I feel better for it today..

Don’t know Dianne if you had the violent wind storm, kept worrying that power line would go come down and no power for pumps..when Greg comes tomorrow night I will have him see if he can start it, I’ll pick up gas just incase..

I just had the birdhouse door put up, had fallen in winter, down again, the big tarp shed about 20’ long x 16’ wide and likely 12’ high was blown off its pad into the ravine at back of my property..wonder if I can convince them they’ve out it right in the path of where we get winds and have them move it?? Don’t think they would belied me lol

I got an email this morning, my Covid short is in Orillia sat. April 10th with 2nd shot July 31st. That started my Monday on a good footing..

Sharon you are making me hungry, all sounds so delicious..I took out a pork loin for tomorrow supper with Greg and Mel.is the bacon meatloaf the one you out bacon overlapping your pan, make the meatloaf and putting in pan, then put those cheese rounds in the middle, cover with meat then put the overlapped bacon over it and bake? It was on my list to make but I wondered if it would be greasy?

Best I get vacuuming

That meatloaf sounds good.
The lady that is burned, is still in the hospital. She was supposed to have skin graph today, but she developed breathing problems overnight.
X-rays showed she has a pulmonary embolism in her lungs. Surgery has been postponed, until she can breathe better. Doctor said she probably fell during the fire and hit her ribs. Right now she is on oxygen and treatment for her blood clot. Please keep her in your prayers.

Karen, we will add your daughter to our prayers. Have a safe trip.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayer list gets longer, will keep her and karen’s Daughter in my prayers.
Outdoor her problems Lindakay be from inhaling smoke during the fire..

Propped up in bed, set alarm for 6 so I can put garbage to the curb in the morning.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I got my Morse Code bracelet today to support my daughter. The gold beads are dots and the red are dashes. There is one blue on the end because I was short one red bead.
I'm taking dresses I made for Jess many years ago. For Amelia and Lorelei to wear for Easter. Several of the greats have worn dresses I made 20 or more years ago. It tickles me to see them worn again by a new generation.

Beautiful bracelet Karen, the heart felt message within will warm her heart.
It’s wonderful that these treasured dressed can be passed down.

Set the alarm so I wouldn’t miss garbage day then climbed back into bed, watched movies part of the night, hoping I can doze off for an hour but I think not going to happen..having lemon meringue pie for desert tonight so maybe I’ll get up and do crust, Greg and Mel went home with my glass pie plate, hope I can find another..keep giving pies but don’t always get pie plate back..

Safe travels Karen

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Deb, sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Our pets are so dear to us, their loss is felt so acutely.
Karen, sending prayers for your daughter AND you. I remember taking my mother to radiation therapy, it was a special time. Just my Mom & I.
Susan, your counters are looking great!!! I would like to do something like that in the "main bathroom". If I'm going to.... I had better get it done though! For NOW, it would be no problem. I have 3 bathrooms.
Linda, sending prayers for your neighbor.
I had a great visit. I stayed an extra day due to winter advisory, high winds across state of WA. There is a long stretch in there that would be especially hazardous with high winds. My youngest contacted me Sunday to say if I had not already left, STAY put an extra day.
I worked on home projects, my son & wife are NOT DIYers. I went to home Depot and bought wood, installed an additional shelf in their laundry room cabinet, 1 in kitchen cabinet, bathroom medicine cabinet and replaced a poorly made small shelf in Carrie's craft room. It had been a closet shelf over a clothes rod. It was narrow, and support bracket was not properly anchored. I replaced it with a 20 inch x 91 shelf with 2x4 stringers for supports. I had hoped to be able to put the whole 91 inches in place in ONE piece but couldn't manipulate that in the tight space and had to install in 2 @ 45.5 pieces. I REALLY missed all my tools & space at home. I had to make due with a jigsaw I bought at Home Depot for a part of the work. I hadn't know in advance about some of the projects. To be fair, Carrie never meant for me to tackle some of them THEN, but I had the time.... and I don't get there very often.
Carrie had a list of projects she wanted help with and was very happy with what we got done. We attacked some decluttering and rearranging. I brought my hedge trimmers but the bamboo proved to be too tough. I could cut the blackberry bushes but not the bamboo. I came home with a list of outdoor cushions to make.

I don't know who missed who more, Stanley or me!!! I only unpacked the absolutely necessities last night and spent the rest of the evening reading and holding him. Slept in my own bed, showered in my own walk-in shower this morning. Like Dorothy of Wizard of Oz "There's no place like home".

Good day 💖 All's well - on the run again - chat later

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well Pat, seems as though you needed to come home and for a rest, they must have appreciated your help and guidance in the building of shelves and helping with purging..sometimes we all just need a shove

Winds are extremely high here again, I went out and got 1/2 a wheel barrel filled and the wind was blowing what I was raking as quickly as I was raking it into piles so gave up..sewed for all of about 10 minutes, gave up on that.

Do have a nice supper on for Greg and Mel though, funny, every Tuesday she calls to ask what the menu is 😜

Tempted to have a nap before they get here..Mel walks over with Ned, so maybe a nap isn’t in the picture so I will knit a bit more on a snowmobile neck warmer..don’t need it but I would like to fill my idle time, helps tone down the amber alert in my head..

Sharon ‘s Birthday is April Fools Day, am thinking of picking up Chinese and driving to her house thursday night for supper..what I should have done was invite her tonight and make a birthday cake instead of my lemon meringue pie

Are any of you planning anything for Easter? Have all the fixings for a supper but worry about Covid..can’t wait for April 10th

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Cake is over rated, throw a candle in the pie and invite her over!! LOL
We're not cake eaters in my family so Birthday pie is perfectly acceptable!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kids just left, Kyle came as well and Mel took a container of food for her lunch tomorrow and a container for her brother...I took a sliver of the pie for midnight snack

I opened window in my bedroom, birds are chirping in the tree, Ziggy usually lies next to me but tonight he is on watch

Pat, sounds like you had a great visit and helped them with your knowledge and help. Animals are perfect at their welcome home greetings. One of our dogs just about broke Vern's nose with his excitement and jumping.

Susan, good that you check in.

Betty, what did you make for dinner. I had a a weird dinner. Cottage cheese, 2 strawberries, a wonderful English White cheddar cheese and a side of tomatoes/onions/cucumbers marinated. I enjoy cottage cheese and it was smothered with course ground pepper. The white cheddar went perfect with the strawberries.

I moved 10 plumerias out of garage and placed them where I wanted them and then dug holes in the ground, easier said than done, and placed them in the holes. Holes are to hold the pots in place. Then I deep watered them. They have not been watered all winter. Tomorrow my two grandsons and my daughter are coming to help me get the other 18 into the back landscape. This is not going to be as easy as it has in th past because the two sumac trees that supplied the shade they need from our hot sun, are gone and I will need to think that one over. But as long as they are in the back landscape, I can take it from there. My garden helper has flown the coop. He does this every once in a while. Probably because he got his stimulus payment.

Betty, please give Sharon birthday wishes from Las Vegas.

Photos of my front landscape I took this morning.

Sharon, I am sorry your help is gone again. It's tough when we need and count on help & they are unreliable.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, what message is on the bracelet?
Betty, sounds like you had another great dinner.
Sharon, your yard is so beautiful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, rainy day here and weatherman says snow tomorrow, may one last hurrah for Mother Nature.

So love your photo’s Sharon of your yard, magazine perfect. Does your helper not show up then one day he is back on routine? Glad you will have help..I usually have the boys here on mother’s day, I am hoping I will have yard done before then and can just enjoy their company.

Karen, glad you are at your destination..enjoy the family .. prayers for your daughter.

Thinking if it stops raining the ground easier to dig I might try and dig 4 holes for shrubs, with the towering trees lots of roots, we will see. Hoping to make a shrub hedge to hide the back neighbours yard..shaking my head, wish they had left the trees on other side of creek which was hiding their commercial yard site..endless job hiding neighbours yards lol

Well, I’ve checked all my embroidery designs and can’t find where I have the monogram designs so off to look to buy another.

Verona, ON

Same nasty weather here Betty. Make me ache all over.

Kai had quite an encounter with a mama and papa goose yesterday. His favourite ball 'accidently' fell down the hill and into the lake yesterday. He rushed down to get it and these 2 geese started honking and flapping their wings at him and they wouldn't let up. Poor Kai but it is not like he has no other balls of all sizes to play with. He has this 1 jolly ball which is quite large and sturdy and it has a handle for him to grasp. He flings and shakes that ball around and I have the bruises on my shins to prove it.

Everyone have their grocery supplies in for the weekend ? I was at Foodland this morning and it was packed.

Yum your mention of lemon pie had my mouth watering. A real tart lemon pie and rhubarb pie are my favs.

I think I will have a nap. It is either get under some blankets or light a fire. I could be lazy and flick the oil on but a nap appeals to me most. I will probably get the wood stove going after I get up.

Love your bracelet Karen.

Linda K, on 3/27 Karen posted "A friend made her a bracelet it has beads spelling in Morse Code F--k Cancer.
I found a local person who is making me a bunch of them for the rest of us to wear in support."

So tonight the young women's activity, I agreed to make treats to hand out AS they leave. (We don't want the girls taking off their masks to eat, so any treat has to be handed out AFTER the activity & they are on their way out. MAYBE I have learned my lesson (doubt it). I was going to make Rice Krispies, dye the melted marshmallows green, shape they slightly and put 3 M&M in pastels for eggs. I apparently did not cook them hard enough and even with butter on my hands they wanted to stick, but NOT stick the M&Ms!!! Arrrggghhh!! I "glued the eggs in" with buttercream frosting

I should have just bought the dozen little "carrot" cellophane bags of Reece's and called it good enough. Instead of making a mess, tempting myself with sweets (WON that battle!) I now have all the the green nests with eggs into Easter print sealed sandwich bags ready to pass out. Wish I had a cute little Easter basket to put them in but NO way am I headed to the store for that !!

I have pink tulips in bloom!! Came back from my trip and they are now showing color.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same weather here today, cold to the bone..brrr
Awe poor Kai, not a wonder he is disappointed, Sailor Girl had one of those, she so loved itI as she could play on her own.,guess you will be shopping for a replacement..likely Kai will associate losing the ball with ducks and will be chasing them away next time he sees them. Your favourite pies are mine as well.
Have my list made, not sure why there are so many things on it, could do without if I want to..do you think many will be having Easter gatherings?? Talked to mom today, she was thinking of coming up so she could spend few days with aunt Muriel but that is a long drive for her,,if I was a nice daughter maybe I would drive aunt Muriel to the city.. we will see..maybe Sharon would come for the ride.

Pat, I can imagine the mess, when I work with food dye I’ve got it all over the place..am sure kids will enjoy their treats as I’m sure your tasting them and giving them the seal of approval.

Shaking my head, after so many years why it would not occur to me not to just mark what is in the totes in back shed on top but on sides, got a black magic marker and lifted totes to see what was in them then mark the sides, that was on my today to do’s, someth8ng I should have left for the Mother’s Day work list..I’ll pay big time tomorrow, already hurting but my fault.

Worked downstairs on a wall hanging, glanced at clock a few times and remember thinking lunch wasn’t far off, worked some more still almost lunch time and still didn’t click, came upstairs and made a sandwich, looked at the clock and it was 2:45 pm

Rita dropped in for an hour, brought me flowers, so nice of her..

Sun was out earlier, warmed the house..feel the chill now that it’s early evening so turned on the furnace, will have a nice hot bath, might help the shoulder

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

boy, I will bet you HURT tomorrow! My back would be killing me if I had been lifting totes!
Nope, no tasting for me. I have made the recipe a 100 times. It was just getting a little carried away with the amount of dye that tricked me! I rarely add food coloring but I thought it would have a cute green grass with the Easter eggs. No complaints about the taste from the kids!

Afternoon,

No one is around to play April Fools jokes on today. 😒
Sharon’s birthday today..will pick up Chinese and have early supper with her.

Pat, am sure the kids loved their treat, what was the projects you worked on??

cool outside but got some raking done..I promised myself 1 wheel-barrel ONLY per day, shoulders cant take it, well found a way this morning that got around that promise 😜

Raked into big piles here and there and didn’t put them in the wheel barrel..that isn’t cheating right, I’m not really over my quota

Think I deserve a hot chocolate..will sit and knit a bit as there is no sense starting something new as I’ve only a few hours before I have to clean myself up to go into town..was going to do groceries but think I will wait until the stores are open early Saturday instead.

We are going one step further than lockdown, complete shut down as I understand it, will see if I can get the news while I my hot chocolate and see when it starts..likely it’s midnight

Thanks for all your prayers

Pain likely too much for.

How very sad Linda, with her age and the trama of the burns I suppose it was likely. At least she is no longer in pain. I am sad for her husband's double loss. His home and wife. .

Thanks everyone.

Saying night night to you all

Just got back from Sharon’s, Graeme who shows Inuk was there, he is here for a week, breeding one of his dogs, can’t for the life of me remember the breed, they are too adorable, small, African originated, no bark

He does interior designing
Omg talk about a beautiful home via his photo’s, was inHome and Garden magazines..anyway each room a showcase, really had a nice evening.

I worked in m courtyard yesterday cleaning and fixing irrigation. Spent 4 hours. The my SIL and two GS's came over and moved the plumeria out of the garage and into the back landscape. Now I need to refresh their soil and deep water. They have not been watered al winter. Today, my long lost garden helper showed up and attempted to tell me while he was among the missing. Told him I didn't want to hear it and I think the tone of my voice gave him the message. Today we worked in two different areas. I again sent about 3 hours cleaning and deep watering a flower bed. I have a nail appointment so tomorrow I will rest.

Betty, you cheat just like I do but we are only cheating ourselves because we are the ones that are going to be in pain. How was Sharon's birthday? What is going on with your mother? I was watching a new program yesterday on Fox and they said you have a new regulation about returning to Canada. You have to be tested and then you have to stay in an retention area (hotel) for 3 days.

Pat, that was an adorable thing you did for your young ladies from church. So much thought went into it. My son called this evening from Spokane. So excited about Gonzaga. Here at the sports book you have to bet 2.17 to win a dollar. Wish Vern was still live to explain to me how you make money on that kind of bet. Doesn't really matter because I do not gamble. Todd's son Luke has a very difficult time watching Gonzaga because he gets so nervous. He is 11. Last year when he was 10, they played and lost and he just did understand how they could have lost.

I need to go take a shower before I go to bed so I will say goodnight and also Good Morning. Hugs, Sharon

Linda, I am so sorry about your friend. God bless her.

So sorry to hear about your friend, Linda Kay. Prayers for her husband, it must be horribly difficult for him.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

So sorry to hear of your friend's passing, Linda Kay. Her poor husband. Prayers for him.

I've told Bob that I want a divorce & will be looking into renting an apartment. There are Senior's apartments here in Torrington so that's where I'll look first. I told him - to make our marriage work, there are two requirements of him - 1. give up anything to do with that woman, and 2. for us to have counselling. He refuses both.
So, in the meantime, I will live here, be civil to him, and sleep in our bed because it's more comfortable. Otherwise, we'll be like roommates.
What brought this about you ask? Well, on Thurs we each had to bring our cars in for oil changes. His at 10am, and mine at 1pm. He got his done, and I left to get mine done. 5 min out of town, and I checked my "info" and it said I had 85% oil, so turned around to come home. As I was driving into the Park, there he was, going into her place. I blared the horn several times. Was I MAD? you Bet! He said he was only going in for tape to fix her house wrap that blew free in the wind. Told him, I didn't trust him anymore, and obviously IF that were the case, he didn't trust me enough to talk to me about it. Also said that if she were to ask him in for tea (or whatever else) that he would have accepted. There was no just standing on the step & taking the tape from her, no, he was Going In. I was furious, but now........ don't care.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm sorry things didn't work out, Susan. It seems like you've given him every opportunity.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry Susan.
