How exciting for you Sharon that you get to be with family for a few days..
Hope Cecil doesn’t have to go to vets while your family is here..perhaps he tried something in the garden to eat that did not agree with him. Because of our lock down SHARON one has to wait in vehicle while their furry is being checked..
Lindakay about 2 weeks ago a family member dropped in and asked if they could tell me something in confidence, if anyone says in confidence nobody will ever hear about it..I thought when Greg and Mel said they were coming for supper they would discuss it..but no go, was just a nice visit so we will see
Woke up at 2 when tv power went out, can’t sleep so even though I was chastised about going out to shovel middle of the night think I’ll make a hot chocolate and get at it..mist be a foot of snow
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Snowing &Blowing..fireplace on, come sit a spell!
I was up at 4 am Betty but there was no snow to shovel. That's when Kai woke up and wanted to rock and roll. That hour is sure better than midnight.
Waiting to hear if I am having company for dinner. I hate when I invite someone and give 2 days that are good for me but they say we'll talk later. Well it has been4 days and they still haven't called. I'm just making German pizza which is easy and quick but I would like a little notice. My nasty side is telling me to call and say not to come.
Oh Sharon you must be bursting with joy having your family visit.
Going to shower than get into the village to Foodland just in case my company does decide to come.
Karen checking in to see how you are doing ? How is Walt ?
Stay safe and well.
I'm doing pretty good and Walt is being bothered by sciatica. Made him an appointment with Chiro but earliest they had was Mon.
Karen, I feel for Walt, sciatica is so painful, you just don’t know what to do with yourself.. the pads on Dr.Ho needed replacing, 1 set $15.00, think I will order from Dr.Ho next time, has to be cheaper..it’s a godsend for sciatica and neck problems.. I will do 40 minutes and relax
There you go Dianne, we are early risers..I’d not like they will come, maybe because they said ‘we will talk later’ they don’t feel is was a confirmed dinner.
Omg Dianne, if you are getting the weather I’m getting today’s you will be walking the digs and enjoying your outing.. yes it’s cold but sun is strong..have to look at flyers tonight and see what Foodland has for specials, although I just did my shopping and it’s all put away I forgot my list so am sure I’ll be making a Foodland trip tomorrow.
Today is the kind of day I’d have loved to fill up the gas tank and head to bud dale for a few days..extra big sigh!
Lost long post... don't ya hate that when it happens???
The thrift stores are open but the dolls are not being donated. I have told Marie to look at the bright side, the dolls we cleaned and made clothes for are not being re-donated! Christmas 2019, we donated 60 identical dolls, I have not seen ANY of those get re-donated. I am not saying none have, just not when we saw.
I'm cold, I'm going to wrap up in a blanket and invite Stanley to take a nap with me.
Karen, glad you are improving!!
Dianne, poor Kia, I never knew separation anxiety was so common in dogs. Marie's Pug used to throw a fit when one of us would leave. Maggie would bark and turn circles, but settled down and never vomited.
I'm with you Sharon, I likely would call and just state "I am assuming you are NOT coming from dinner since I never got a confirmation". This waiting, uncertain stuff is for the birds! My youngest has sometimes pulled things like that. "Gosh, I don't' know if we'll make it there for breakfast or not (family gathering)." HELLO, you can't expect to not need to plan ahead for 7 people!!!" ACK!!!
Linda, I have been in Hobby Lobby once since the whole Covid thing, it's one of my favorite places! I really enjoy their displays and home decor stuff. I do a LOT of looking for rarely much buying, but enjoy the look!
Drats Pat, just lost mine.big sigh
Guess I will have to learn to save from time to time
Nap time
Oh my nap was delightful!!! All wrapped up in soft blanket with heating pad and Stanley. What could be better at this time in my life?
Sounds perfect, nothing like a heating blanket and a furry cuddling in
was napping when my brother called and woke me up then I couldn’t fall asleep, had early supper at 3pm now now I’m trying to stay awake until it’s bedtime and Ziggy and I can call it a day
Hubby has gone to bed. He went to Chiro today and said it helped a lot. I'd love to lay down too but know it's way to early. I'd be back up in a couple hours and have a messed up night.
Glad chiro helped, sometimes it takes several visits..
Hear you about getting your nights mixed a bit..been up since 2:30am, I’ve been fighting napping all day in hopes now that I just took my meds I can sleep all night and get back into regular routine. Here is hoping we both get a good nights sleep..you sound a little stronger, are you eating?
Luke and I went to Target today to get him a "surprise" toy. That took forever for him to make up his mind.
Has anyone been out looks for valentines to give the neighborhood children. If you have not, do not bother. What we think of valentines and what is now a valentine is crazy.
I walked the dogs twice, once with Luke and once with DIL Heather. The weather today was beautiful. My son Todd went golfing with his two friends that he grew up with. They changed their day because tomorrow is suppose to be rainy and windy.
Karen, I am so happy you are slowly turning the corner. Now if we can just keep Betty in the house at 2:30am and not outside shoveling snow.
Family is out to a friends for dinner so animals and I are in the bedroom chilling.
That was a great day for you Sharon,, big smile at finding just the right toy, so many to pick from,,what did Luke end up with?
I looked for a book of Valentine’s so I could cut out some out, a way to fill in time but didn’t find any..guess we will have to get creative and make our own.
Sandman didn’t find me , watching csi as there is no snow to shovel ..
Yes, "Valentines" now are a box of candy with a to & from on it.
Storm came in, several inches of snow and cold.
I had a meeting last night, came home to the kitchen garbage spread all over and the sewing room door open. Stanley was on the table in there and Nova looking guilty. The door will not stay latched now with ANY pressure. Not sure what I need to do to fix it. I looked and the striker plate is in place, so that wasn't the problem.
Maybe just a hook? Easy fix
Decided I might treat myself to a day in my nighty..just finished sewing last of 16 star blocks for penguin throw and decided since I’ve been up since 5:30am
SHARON dropped in about 10 and brought me a few slices of chocolate pudding cake, just what I needed, more sweets
Sun comes out every now and then, calling for snow later tonight, nowhere to go so it doesn’t matter..been hungry for a meal from Swiss chalet, perhaps I’ll take a r7n into town tomorrow, one meal will do sat/sun
What are you all up to today? You
I am cold... Adam & Nova are here, Adam & I and we are playing "coach" to reluctant pets. "Can't we all just get along?" Once Nova quiets down, Stanley settles down. It is pretty funny to see Nova hide behind Adam when Stanley growls. If we could just do this A LOT more often, I think we would get the pet thing worked out.
I am craving pecan rolls, maybe cheese breadsticks too!! Once Adam leaves to take the dog to the park in the snow, Stanley and I are going to do some baking!!! And yes, probably some doll clothes too.
Oh Betty that looks so good. It's pretty cold here too. The wood stove is gobbling up wood at a fast rate.
I only walked the dogs once today. They were ready to come home before I was - it was pretty cold along the lake. I've put them out in their yard a couple of times but it is not long before they are knocking at the door to come inside.
Pat I am sure things will settle down between Stanley and Nova. They might also be picking up vibes from you and your son
Kai is talking at me so I best see what he ants.\
It's cold here. Cold front came in yesterday. Only 34 for our high. Tomorrow will drop to 18. That's cold for us.
Praying everyone sleeps well tonight.
Dianne, usually Ziggy wants out for few minutes, I opened door today and he looked at me and walked down the hallway so not a wonder the dogs didn’t want out... is Kia getting into mischief?
That is cold Lindakay, you will have to pull some of your quilts out to keep warm
Today has been 4 days in 1, it’s endless..both Sharon and I are having a time of it
I decided to put a pain patch on my neck and crawl into bed..watching a movie with Mark Harmon in it and is about time travel..unusual kind of movie for him but it’s good
Linda, that is really cold for your area. If i got that cold here, it would freeze the water in the swimming pool which would raise havoc with the plumbing. Happened here over 20 years ago ad everyone got an amendment to their insurance policy.
Insurance company no long cover freeze damage on pool equipment.
Had another great day with my son and his family. My laptop now talks to my printer, thanks to my son. They went for a 7 mile walk this morning and came back very hot. It was only 65 but Spokane is usually 29 degrees recently, so to them it was hot.
Luke right now is over at my daughter's and son and DIL are out to dinner with friends. Pets and I are home alone and that is OK.
Pat, he ended up with a toy Wally. It is battery operated and is very funny. Peanut the cat is scared of it.
I was in the kitchen and listened to my DIL do on line schooling with Luke, fifth grade math. What a nightmare. He does have in school classes but they are on a two week in home school because two children came down with Covid.
We had about 5 minutes of rain this morning. Big time wind which blew the wind to Utah and then blue skies and sunshine. When I woke up it looked like a big time winter morning and quickly changed.
I opened the door this morning and neither the dogs or the cats would leave the house. Weird because they will walk a mile in a rain storm.
Betty, your desserts look wonderful but do nothing for me. Give me roasted garlic, fresh sourdough break dipped in balsamic vinegar.
I will return tomorrow. Was hoping to hear from Karen.
Our high was 23 and weather reports say 2 more storms coming.
Mixed success with Stanley & Nova. They were actually in the same room for an hour. Much of that time Nova was clueless that Stanley was IN the room. I intercepted Stanley a time or 2 when he was working stealthily towards Nova. No actual physical altercations today, so that was progress!! LOL
Guess we are all in deep freeze..
Leave it To insurance companies to make exclusions in their policies, I bought additional coverage for Mother Nature damage, ie flooding., are they providing coverage for pools Sharon at additional $$ and do you think for amount of time it gets that cold you would not buy it? Glad your printer is working
Need to get Jeff to do same
Lindakay there was fire in your area, would it cause problems for you.
Karen, how goes the battle, feeling better??
Sharon, bet it warms the heart having family there..don’t know how families can cope with working and doing online schooling..must be so frustrated.... our traditional school March break has been moved to mid April in hopes Covid numbers are.lower
Pat, did you get to sew today? I got the four block panels made, will quilt individual panels this morning.
As as Tuesday we go to red zone, still stay at home for me , now if I could ski the hills will be open, hairdressers open so come Monday I will call, lord knows how long I will have to wait for appointment? Last time just before it was my time we went 8nto lockdown.
I can here the wind howling, was thinking of getting up, having a bath/hot chocolate and see if I climb back into bed, see if I can fall black to sleep
Haven’t looked to see if we have snow, wind howling so just. Maybe I can be out shovellling
I hope you managed to get back to sleep Betty.
I played "visitation supervisor" most of the day, overseeing my cat & Nova. I never made it into the sewing room. I did READ and nap, did make cinnamon buns since I discovered I had already used all the pecans.
We have already had one storm & 2 more coming back to back. I have kitty kibbles & kitty litter. I am OK until Spring. LOL Adam took Nova to the park to play in the snow, so Stanley too advantage and we had a nap together in the living room recliner..
Recovery seems dreadfully slow to me. Although I do hear it takes us oldies longer. I don't feel bad just don't feel good either. Still very tired and trying to have an appetite. Last night I was up at least 8 times. Sure don't want to get used to that being the norm.
Afternoon, sun comes out occasionally, later this afternoon the snow will come..
Karen, I’m sure with all your other medical issues it will indeed take forever to recover, but so many don’t make it to where you are , blessed you are, so take each day as it comes, try to work up an appetite as best you can. Know about nightly up and downs..fought it all night, ended up again with bath and hot chocolate, seems to relax me, once I am back in bed I seem to relax and sleep for a few more hours.
Pat,having a day to sit and read isn’t a bad day, especially when a furry is cuddle in beside you.
Had company, Suzanne and Lenny for about 1/2 hour, both stood at the door with masks on..Suzanne has new 7 seat passenger van, we spoke at how much fun a Roadtrip would being the comfort of such a vehicle..was told to plan lol
Been working on penguin quilt..as long as I don’t get too comfy on couch while having my lunch I may get most done today and finish tomorrow as planned.
I absolutely LOVE your penguin quilt.
Karen, sorry it seems so slow. I know you just want to feel GOOD!!! It will come.
Our church services have been canceled tomorrow due to snow. The side streets are so deep in snow. Law enforcement is asking that ONLY essential travel be done.
Adam & Nova went back this afternoon, he was not scheduled to work tonight or tomorrow. Monday 14th is their 5th anniversary. Stanley and I are enjoying the full run of the house with bedroom doors open!!! YEAH!!! Freedom without checking out where the dog is!! I have a dog trainer coming a week from Monday. I will be reaching out to him on Friday about if he wants to reschedule as it will be coming from a distance. Depending on the temperature and the rest of the storms to come, it might not be safe traveling.
I miss the quiet, relaxed time with Stanley in my lap. For now, with the tension between Nova and Stanley that isn't really possible. I will need to explore the possibility of getting a recliner into the sewing room. THEN we can hang out there snuggled together when we want.
Be safe everybody!!! Seems many of us are looking at nasty weather.
Betty a glass of warm milk was my night time go to but now I'd have to go down stairs and I mostly avoid that.
Ohh Pat, don’t know why I don’t think of you having so much snow, hard to think that there will be cancellations because of it. Happy Anniversary to Adam and his wife, a milestone always in a new marriage. Know how nice it is to lay relaxing in beams of sunlight..hmmm what is it, around 35 days til spring? I mark it on a blackboard piece in the kitchen, think that is what it is..can’t wait.
Karen, could someone brung up a cooler with ice in it to keep milk cold to your bedroom and you could take a glass out and let it warm up, save you some steps??
I’m fuming, was sound asleep, a bit calls me re a political issue, I should not have answered the phone..now8: riled up and likely never get to sleep tonight grrrr not a flappy camper
Guess hot bath and hot soaking might calm me down
Happy Valentines Day everyone, bitter cold, was out just after just before 3:30 and just came in... chilled to the bone, hot bath running will fix that..add coffee and perfect start to the day.
Mary next door came out around 4am, chatted for a bit..imagine!
I couldn’t sleep after Roberts call last night grrr find once I’m in deep sleep and wake up that is it for me.
Karen hope you were up less and got more sleep
Thinking of being at Walmart’s door at 8am, need batting and some cotton to keep myself busy.
Anything special going on today for you?
Good morning everyone.
Happy valentines day.
31 this morning. 15 tonight. Weather liars are predicting 3 to 6 inches of snow for today late afternoon.
Praying it misses us, because we have no salt trucks or plows to clear the roads.
Yikes, that would not be good for your area Lindakay we are well equipped to handle all the snow we get but difficult for you..
I’m watching a few neighbors out shovelling, happy that mine was done during the night lol
Even baked Ruby’s applesauce cake
Just getting dressed and will take a quick run into Walmart, had hoped to be there for 7 but got sewing so eight it is..
Happy Valentine's Day.
Betty I so understand about the phone call and not being able to go back to sleep. I am the same way.
I see my post of yesterday must have gone poof. It was just a rant about a scammer who woke me up Sat morning at 7 am. I had just fallen asleep around 6 am. I have never experienced such an abusive scammer before. When I asked him his name and then his Agent # he flew off the handle. Some of the nicest things he said was I was ignorant, a stupid old lady. He also threatened to put all of the thousands of dollars charged to my VIsa through because I was being idiotic. Then he tried to get me to allow him access to my computer. I hung up then called CIBC Visa. Of course all of the so called charges were in the scammer's imagination. To be on the safe side my Visa account was closed and I will be getting a new card. I do a lot of my banking and buying on line. What a mess and I was soo upset and angry I never did get back to sleep.
Karen could you make a thermos of warm mild before you go upstairs to have at the ready just in case ? I sure understand not wanting to walk downstairs for the milk - I would be wide awake then.
Pat very happy to read you and Stanley are enjoying some peace and quiet. Having a trainer come in is a good idea. Sometimes the pets just pick up on their owners vibes and know you are anxious.
Sun is out but it is very cold. I need to get into Foodland in the village today as the Weather Liars say 2 days of nasty weather is on the way.
Stay safe and warm.
Those are the worse Dianne, not a wonder you were upset..I keep getting calls saying unless I make full payments to cra I’ll be imprisoned, j just hang up
Not so sure weather are liars right now, calling for mega storm here as well..I’ll be ok, bought some batting, some Walmart flannel which I never do and a bag of the fibre batting, cotton for washcloths so should be ok for 2-3 days of activity.
Just got back from Walmart, was -20, I cannot believe it was those temps at 3 this morning but then I wear heavy duty clothing meant for sub zero weather.
Don’t know if I told you but at the corner of the next street to me there was a shooting thursday night..8 shots around 8:30,was a man and women, guy was shot 8n the leg so one thing we know is they weren’t great shots 8 shot-1 hit and only 8n the leg..police went to all area households telling them it was not random, the house was targeted and not to worry.
I’ve got my tote from back shed that says valentines Day,tomorrow I’ll go into St Patrick’s day decor lol.. not as bad as Walmart, they’ve summer outdoor furniture and summer clothing out
I am SLOW, but I hit what I shoot at!!! I used to love to target shoot, especially Skeet. I probably averaged 9 out of 10, so the idea of ONE hit out of 8 is outrageous!! LOL
The work I am doing with Nova is paying off in that she is MUCH easier to handle on a leash and the grandkids are now finding her a pleasure to walk. They used to take Thaddaeus, but not her, because she pulled so bad. When I take her out to potty, she walks as slow as I need to. Part of the area we walk to is uneven and unlit, so you can believe I WALK SLOW!!! I need to buy battery operated, motion sensor lights for next to the barn.
Karen, I think the idea about using a thermos for warm milk sounds like a pretty good one. The idea of warm milk gags me! I used to LOVE cold milk with food, I have become lactose intolerant so no milk for me! (Unless I want to camp out in the bathroom! LOL)
The Scam I keep getting is an email saying my Paypal account is suspended due to suspicious activity.
When we first got married, Ben's family & friends called at all times of the day & night. He could talk and go RIGHT back to sleep. He was "on call" for work, for years and years. Getting woke up, and going right back to sleep, was easy for him. Unfortunately, once I am woke up, ESPECIALLY if I am irritated, I cannot go back to sleep. He finally convinced them all they could no longer due that out of consideration for me. Just one of the many ways he showed that he loved and respected me.
Linda, I sympathize with you over your areas inability to handle the snow. We have snow plows, but not the number needed when we get this kind of snow. Our side streets RARELY get any attention, so I was shocked when a snow plow came thru this morning. Over the last few years so winter seems to have shifted to later. Our worse weather is now February, unheard of years ago! Worse probably for you, than the lack of snow plows, is the inexperience that your drivers have to handle the snow!! To me, THAT;s scary!! Also, in areas that routinely get snow & ice, we tend to have vehicles prepared to handle bad roads. After doing crisis work, I would not consider buying a car that did not have all wheel or 4 wheel drive.
Be safe, be warm!!! Snuggle in and enjoy the quiet.
Hubby and I are pretty well used to snow driving but others down here? Crazy.
Pat, I'm a big milk drinker of any kind. I know warm milk has something to aid sleep so it relaxes me. My mom was lactose intolerant so she never could understand my love of milk. My kids were all fine but a couple of the grands can't drink it. I even love raw milk and drank it a lot when small because my grandfather had a cow. For a while up north we had a cow share and got raw milk. Wonderful stuff, so much cream I could make our butter too. In fact theirs was so rich, they sold just cream plus they raised baby pigs on it. We bought half a cream raised pig and oh my it was good.
Drats just heard a he’ll copter hovering, we’ve had severe cold days but still areas on bay aren’t safe, never are due to current. Here is hoping that it is for another reason but not usually
Karen, I associate milk with spaghetti sauce, cant have one without the other, just like turnip and pumpkin pie at thanksgiving..my memoRies is at a very early age walking to dairy on a Friday morning to have buttermilk, I do remember it was vile but she made me drink it lol
Pat when Roger and I were first married my mom would call early, Roger worked away from home most of the week and just wanted to sleep in, she would be calling at 7 or so, didn’t take long for him to set her straight. I too need a motion light outside, with my recent shovelling expedition being at 3 in the morning I could use one..I’ve been starting my car for lighting.
Our hardest winter is last 2 weeks of February/1st 2 of March..we are getting there, before too long we will get days of melting..melt = water, hope it’s a slow process
Well I had a piece of apple sauce cake, put my head down and fell into a deep sleep, didn’t fight it as I has 1/2 my day in by 9, will get up for lunch, take something out for supper and go downstairs, can’t sleep all day or I’ll be up all night.
