Great idea Pat, we have attachments and they are more like little spikes, work great if you keep them on your boots rather than take off and forget to put back on.
How are ou doing Karen and Dianne, hopefully better. Prayers being said..
Sharon dropped over this morning and picked up the wax machine, hope it gives her some comfort. She said her son Brian is coming up north next month to work on greg’s Basement, Lordy they just re dId it a few months ago..while he is here I’ll have him finish up the few things he was doing that got left un done when Covid started..
Like you Pat, those things aren’t essential but I’d like to see them done.
Ziggy is all over my sewing projects, 1/2 the time he is laying 9n the project I’m working on..only time I close the door is when I have a project on frame, he thinks it’s a hammock and start pulling pins out.
Should not have sat on couch, my morning to do was the refrigerator, done it and now I want to nap seeing I stayed up late watching The Crown, now I want to sleep.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Snowing &Blowing..fireplace on, come sit a spell!
I kept the Yaktracs on my boots & changed into different shoes once I got to work. Taking them on & off was a little hard on my hands, But then ANYTHING that does grip hurts, so that is no wonder! When I overdo with the doll clothes (cutting out fabric or threading elastic) then I hurt as well.
If Stanley, Nova & I survive this process it will be a miracle. I just keep them separated by a door. I just cringe when I hear Nova's feet on the bedroom door. I know when then is all done I will have to refinish, replace or something to LOTS of woodwork. YIKES she has a LOUD bark. She does pretty good when I tell her quiet down.
I rotate who is out of the bedroom, the sewing room or living room. Nova is NOT allowed in the sewing room PERIOD. That will be Stanley's room only. Eventually, IF family moves in, Stanley will be moved out of his bedroom completely. Until then, Nova is NOT allowed in there either, whether Stan is in there or not.
Adam has several appointments this morning and hopefully will be back before going to work. He got in late last night after taking his wife's car in for flat tire repairs. Made a LONG trip for him. He was almost here to Tri-Cities when she discovered she had flat tires on BOTH cars. One car had been sitting for a while, so no wonder it was flat. He drove back to Wooten, fixed tire & then turned around and came back to Tri-Cities. 6 hours in the car rather than a single 2 hour trip.
Just checking in to get a update on Betty and Karen.
We are having rain. The dogs are at the groomers so I am doing little items I have been putting off. I am also going to water the coleus that I am propagating in the garage.
Pat, that was a tough trip for Adam. My cats and dogs are pals. But they have grow up together.
I am going to go make myself some breakfast/lunch.
Evening all, calling it a day..kept myself busy, not even a nap
Decided I’d go do my shopping this afternoon, guess 3pm is not busy time
I haven’t seen any updates re Karen, worries me
I looked in town for the wedge, no could find but I did buy this back rest that works perfectly, let’s see how it goes tonight. I’m breakfast no our in hives, just a few, I had Chinese food, touched the ball of cotton I bought for dishcloths, that for rest piece is furry, don’t know if I’m reacting to one of them
Love dry Pat, Adam must not have been happy..I seem to have forgotten who Nova is..sure it’s just because I’m tired
Sharon, is this the time of year you like rain for gardens?is it like our spring?
Dianne, you feeling any better?
Back watching The Crown, only thing that seems to keep me awake lol
Somebunny loves you, how cute!!
Nope, it seems I forgot to mention that Nova is Adam's female chocolate lab. I am starting with just 1 dog, I'll get to the male after I have conquered the female!!! Nova LOVES her cat pal Kammy, but Nova came home as a puppy to a house with Kammy already an adult cat in the house. Nova kisses and loves up on Kammy. I am just hoping for PEACE!! LOL
Growing up my cat & dog were the first of the litter to go and I got them both within a week of each other. They were VERY bonded. When my dog Heidi died I honestly thought I might lose my cat Buck as he mourned so hard. Did not eat, would not leave "their pillow".
Not much change for me. Up a while and back for a snooze. Still no appetite but hubby did get me some orange sherbert. Had a small bowl, was heavenly, and so far staying down. About time to turn in for the night.
Just pleased to hear from you Karen.
Betty everything is fabulous. You are so talented. Did you look fo the MegaRed?
The dogs look perfect and they each lost a pound. I have been working on that. They were so happy to see me and Peanut was happier to see them. Peanut and the two dogs follow me wherever I go. When we take ur walk, Peanut comes outside with us and follows us down the street and up the greenbelt. New neighbors have always asked how I taught her to follow us. This is our second cat that does that and it is no taught. If she gets to far behind she lets loose with very loud meows letting me know I need to stop for a moment. We do not walk that fast, she just gets noisy and is snooping around and then determines we have walked on. The kids in the neighborhood know all three. Peanut is friendly with the children if they do not move to quickly and also do not try to pick her up.
Betty, this is the time of year you plant your annuals for spring. They just sit in the soil and grow roots. When the weather turns warmer, they take off.
We will be back in the middle 50s next week.
Day one of dog & cat circus. I have been stepped on, ran over, and beat to death with a tail. I feel like I am back training a horse without the benefit of a round pen & rope!! On the whole satisfied with today's progress. They are no longer bolting for the door to look at each other but setting back respectfully when the door gets opened. No barking or yowling.... it's progress!
Good morning everyone.
Betty, that throw and pillow are beautiful. Praying your hives go away soon.
Pat, sounds like you have your hands full training a dog.
Karen, glad to hear the sherbet tasted good, and stayed down.
Sharon, your Peanuts sounds like a goodwill ambassador! Lagging behind & meowing to ask for everybody to hold up cracks me up!
Morning, sure is a sunshine day, got up at 7am, imagine, got all my chores done and was just ready to head downstairs to play and got a call from dr, Land, he is coming around noon
Thought I should get dressed, thankfully I had curled my hair, so at least I look presentable
Made a quick blueberry pie, not sure what I did but edging fell off pie, not sure I’ll give it to him, means more sweets for me lol
Karen was getting worried, wonderful to see you post.glad your taste buds were affected by Covid and that you were able to enjoy the Herbert..
Listening to Dr, Health Radio yesterday and they were saying traditionally it’s a 10 day stint, if they are right just think you will be yourself again.
Pat sounds as though you have your hands full but know you like it..
Sharon, if I walk down to the mall beside me Ziggy follows me but so far that is the only time she leaves the yard, my other kitties would stray and often cross the road.
Bet they love getting their grooming, know how good it feels.
Sharon a few years ago I was watching winter sow, not sure how that works, can you explain..maybe it’s something I can do
Lindakay guess you got all the good weather, it’s -21 with a feels like -27 but it must be warming up as the sun is so strong..Ziggy all nestled in beside me taking in the sun..
Well best I check the pie 8n the oven before not only crust fell but I burn it 😪
Betty, I love that throw and pillow!! Those are so cute! I hope you get some relief from the injections.
Went this morning for my first Covid vaccine. So far no side effects. I didn't even feel her give me the shot. They have National Guard soldiers directing people and giving the vaccines. They seemed to have everything well under control. I got there about a half hour early for my appointment, and was in and out in less than a half hour, including the 15 minutes I had to sit to see if there would be any serious side effects. Hoping the second shot goes as smoothly.
Big snow storm supposed to be starting tonight. 8-10 inches they're predicting. I need to run to the grocery store this afternoon, and may stop and pick up Chinese for dinner on my way home.
Deb
Glad you were able to get your shot, very organized I’d say..here is hoping no side effects..asked my doctor about Covid shot, because there is a delay in getting the vaccine he said that I should pay attention to news re a number they will post and when I call they will direct me to nearest clinic..I am anxious to get it, will be doing me part in not spreading Covid around..
Hope your storm doesn’t come this way lol
We all must be craving Chinese, Darlene is getting it tonight, Sharon and I yesterday...they give such portions that I’ve enough for supper
As for injections doc said to rest today, maybe even tomorrow so injections can work , so here I am, laying on couch for awhile, sun has gone in so the room feels quite cool, need a blanket
CHINESE??? Ohhhh... that is mean and cruel. I have been trying to eat up the stuff in the freezer and avoiding take out etc....
My vaccine is scheduled for this coming Thursday thanks to my Niece in New York that took it upon herself to get all her loved ones scheduled. She was a phoning fool! Booking her parents, me, her Aunts & Uncles plus best friend's parents. I really appreciated the help. 30 minutes in & out, I hope I am that lucky!!
Adam took Nova out hunting today. She retrieved the duck and then spit it out.... of course he was so proud, recording it all on his phone!!! until she dumped the duck & didn't bring it all the way back to him!!
Stanley, the doll clothes designer, keeping watch on his creations. His first use of fold over elastic, the creative experience is soooo exhausting.
Good morning everyone.
Betty, glad to hear you got a few injections, praying they help your pain.
Sorry to hear about your pie not turning out.
Our Temps have been in the 70's and 80's. 84 yesterday. 58 this morning.
Pat, that dress is beautiful.
Oh Linda, wish we had temps like that. Very cold here.
Afternoon all, -18 here this morning, sun shinning in so feels warm with sun on my lap. Been working in getting rid of Valentine’s Day fabric, mostly cut up in squares and strips, did that throw and ‘some bunny loves you’ pillow, did 2 more pillows this morning, just might be able to squeeze in one more then that is it.
Did my hair, got dressed and omg even put lipstick on..sent message to Darlene if they wanted to come for coffee and blueberry pie I would like it,,we could so distance.she called me and said seeing Doctor was here yesterday perhaps not a good thing... I had completely forgotten about it.
Pat, double wow, some lucky girl will treasure her.lyou sure put your all into these outfits..designer couldn’t do better.
How are you this morning Karen..
lindakay, pie is delicious, just didn’t like the top, they are usually so well done, but my tummy loved the nighttime treat, blueberry pie topped with whip cream..your weather is just perfect...big sigh
Cooking home fries, ham, eggs and toast..enough for an army so thinking it will my supper as well.
In between sewing I’ve started to knit some dish cloths, mine are looking pretty tatty..
Goodness that looks yummy! I was in such a rush didn't get a bite to eat before church!
GREAT weather you are having Linda K! We're still getting rain at night & milder days. It will be in the 40's today.
Thanks for the kind words, the dress is the bottom leg of a pair of sequin leggings, arm hole cut and finished off with the silver & black fold over elastic. I put more elastic thru the hem of the pants to draw it up a little tighter at the bodice, That's it. Just fun fabric to work with, nice stretch and drape. Much of the fabric I use is cut from recycled clothes I bought at the thrift store.
Well,it,sure,is,gorgeous..
Some of you may remember Aline, A very good friend..about 3 years ago she left here after we worked on a thanksgiving sewing project, had massive heart attack and died..hadn’t spoken to Tom for several years, he called, today and we had a great chat..made my day..we talked so long I was able to do another dishcloth
This message was edited Feb 1, 2021 10:27 AM
Pat, we don't have any thrift stores here, but we do have a store called dirt cheap. A friend of mine and I go there at least once a week. All clothes are new, but we find lots of shirts, pants or dress that we will recycle into masks
Well I just lost a long post. My fault.
Karen, so please to see you on here ut you didn't say how you are feeling. Better I hope.
Betty, you got your shots but what Specialists is he sending you to see. You pie looks delicious but I eat very little pie. Just not my thing. Your breakfast would feed me for at least one day. That is a lot of food. Looks delicious.
Pat, great job on the cat and dog personalization. Not an easy task. Your doll dress is adorable. I could never sew anything that small but I do not sew at all.
Linda, that is beautiful weather. what are you going to do now with your masks when now they are saying they should be two layers.
Deb, good job on your family's part getting you the vaccine. My neighbor helped me.
I had no after effects also. And I didn't feel the needle.
Betty, I loved the Crown. I am currently watching Broadchurh on Netflix. Murder mystery. I watched the Ozarks and really enjoyed it. Language was really rough but story was relentless. My sister was not going to watch it because of the language but with my recommendation, she watched it and enjoyed it but did not mention it to her Bible study group.
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your Sunday and a great Monday. I have housekeeper and Pella Windows tomorrow. Pella is going to fix a few doors that do not lock right and two windows that will not stay up, when you put them up. Pella is an itm off of y two year old list. Just about got that list completed.
Every mask I make has 2 layers if fabric, front and back, as well as 2 layers of fusible interfacing in the middle for filter. So mine have 4 layers. Some I give away, some are made for friends and their friends, others are sold at the local fabric store. These were made for a friend's granddaughter.
Keeps me busy.
Those Disney masks are soooo cute!!! Kevin's girlfriend's daughter would go crazy for those! I have not, will not, sew for Kevin's GF or daughter. GF's mother sews for them, has a pattern she has custom fit for them and I don't wish to cause waves. If I make a print that little Karina likes best, but doesn't fit as well.... all I will do is cause problems.
Linda K, I would go into thrift store withdrawal!! Although to be honest, I have not been much over the last year. I have soooo much to sew up already bought, it would be a waste of time and money.
Good to caught up with friends. That was one of things I noticed about when my sons left home, I missed seeing their friends!!
Evening all,
Laying here, pain in ankles and feet keeping me awake,, almost tempted to get up.there is no weight on them..doc said fibromyalgia sometimes is worse in different area I’d body and right now it’s my feet..the bed blanket unit I bought is making a tent like area for them and doing the job but not helping, at least tonight. One of the muscles he injected is paining as well..very rarely put cbd oil under my tongue but think I will try that and cbd ointment on them..not much fun..I even asked when one would get tested for bone cancer, he just went on about fibromyalgia being a problem for me many years and likely that. The specialist is for the constant amber alert ringing in my head..like many I’m falling apart but I have to say I’ve had a good day, productive.
Sharon will have to watch broadchurh if I can get it..The Crown on Netflix only went to series 4, has to be more as it ended with Phillip and dianna wanted divorce.m
Not sure why most of the shows that are keeping my interest of late are English??
Will check out the ozarks as well..
I ate brunch, big plate and didn’t eat anything else other than a slice of pie before bed so I’ve tomorrows breakfast or brunch made.
Lindakay those mask are outstanding...bet people line up for them in the shop.
Are you still doing quilting there
Pat, mel’s Mom also sew, she has a quilt she made for each I’d her children, when in normal times and we all get together I notice all the gifts I’ve given are displayed but not quilt I gave them..her bio mom sews but more so pj’s soI don’t sew pj’s for them
Pat you are right, keeps things running more smoothly.
I was pretty productive today, did 3 more pillows, few hot pads and knitted another dishcloth , was able to throw away 2 tattered old ones and replace them with new ones I just made..not sure how many you can make with a big ball but I’m sure another 3 or 4, call them mindless knitting and can do one in an pour, I know this as I just started one when Tom called and was done when the call ended..looks bad on me knitted while talking but I do concentrate on our discussion ..
Betty, what do you mean, amber alert in your head?
Praying you get some relief soon.
Yes, I am still usi. The longarm at the quilt shop. Amazing how quickly I get the top done.
This message was edited Feb 1, 2021 8:17 AM
Are they your tops or other peoples Lindakay..
Some people get ringing in the ears, it’s called titinitus I thing but I have a continuous sound just like amber alert sound, closest thing I can relate to what it sounds like..extremely annoying.
Linda messaged me about 11:30pm, she saw I was online, couldn’t sleep because of feet, anyway she told me she had just called 911 for David and was so upset she could go to hospital..
At 2:30am she called, we did video chat for 1/2 hr or so then I couldn’t sleep nor could she so we messaged off and on.
David had a root canal Wednesday and he got an infection Friday, couldn’t eat, wasn’t drinking, took pain killers .. he is in his 80’s and linda has been saying at time he is forgetful, well he kept taking pain meds which she didn’t know, he kept telling her not not call son Robin who is a nurse nor 911..finally when she caught him running water to fill his denture bucket and she asked what he was doing he said he was putting his hearing aids in the container and argued he did that every night.,he was having hallucinations so she called Robin, he spoke to his dad and mouthed to Linda to call 911
End result is the doctor suggested with Covid in barrie being so high, 64 seniors /care givers have died at Roberta care nursing home so called her at 4:30am to pick him up.. he is sleeping right now, still confused, was told to give it the day and if not improving she is to call 911 again.
Oh boy... he was going to put his hearing aids in the denture bucket of water!!! Our Dad was going to swallow his hearing aids when my sister caught him! "Spit it out, spit it out!!"
Betty, I am happy to hear you figured out the foot tent thing, even if it wasn't helping last night. I tried a weighted blanket, they have been tooted as good for sleep problems, anxiety and depression. They MIGHT be helpful for THOSE things but boy it made my arthritis worse!!! My ankles especially.... thank goodness for money back guarantee as it was spendy.
Adam & Nova left yesterday for Wooten (home in the mountains, 2 hours away). Stanley and I are enjoying free range in the house without regard for distancing from the dog!! With me trying to transition the cat & I to "the other side of the house" (my sewing area) , I am trying to establish a second litter box, food dish, water dish etc, etc all purchased and moved to the sewing area. I want Stanley used to all those things in their eventual new location before it becomes "full time".
Today will be a pick up and clean up kind of day. There are unfinished projects to complete, stuff to haul out to the barn, a new tight lid storage bin to buy (to store 25 # dog food under son's bed). I'm going to find a way to put a washable cover on the recliner for Nova. She loves that 2nd recliner and the beige fabric upholstery is NOT going to look very nice for very long!
Pat, wish I lived closer, I’ve 2 quilted ones bought and in closet they cover couch and chair but I don’t like them..
Yes it does work and usually when I work on couch I have to support my back and neck because I’m too far back, had a ‘ah ha’ moment this morning, put it on the couch for when I’m working, Lordy it feels good on my back so well worth the $24
Pat that will be hard keeping them in different parts of the house but that being said when mom is here with her dog they keep to their own areas..Ziggy usually downstairs while Bella stays on upper floor. You must be pretty well organized..I’ve a few trips to back shed as well but it’s so darn cold I hate to make a trek but will encourage myself to do so as I want to burn the garbage bag of fabric pieces I’ve thrown away instead of waiting for garbage day so I will brave the elements and get it done.
My to do today is clean the little cabinet next to couch, best I do that now than have a little nap
I bought quite a few totes at Christmas, will have to watch for when they are on sale and purchase a few more.
Sharon just left, she stopped for 10 minutes, I cooked up a truckers breakfast from left overs, gave her some blueberry pie and off she went, said likely that will do for supper as well.
About a month ago on our community hub a lady Jackie was looking for knitting needles, not easily found but I had a couple, they are the wire ones, it was before lock down so we toured my craft room and projects, she is recouping from cancer, lymph nodes and took muscles under her arm, need a lot of exercising so she was thrilled I gave her needles, she now messages me a bit, sent photo of her socks, just said she was going for a walk and had just baked and would drop off something for me as a treat..funny how one simple gesture has turned 8nto a friendship..she just moved up, likely she is in her early 50’s..on heavy snow falls she asks if im ok, need help shovelling, she would come..not likely, I wouldn’t ask in her condition but it’s nice of her to think of me..
So many calls today, ended up with a 4th dishcloth, Sharon said she is not a fan of crochet dishcloths sooo to bad for her as I 2as going to give her 2 lol
Got a call from Orillia specialist, ear and throat specialist, anyway appt. is May 18th..little while yet.
I have all afternoon to fill, made 4 pillows and am knitting..I’ve a little valentines fabric left, what to do, what to do
You have a new friend Betty because mst individuals are not like us. They pass by a thing of beauty and d nt even see it. They do not smile when they walk by, they speed up when you put on your blinker and I could goon nd on. So when someone meets a nice individual, they grasp hold and do not let go.
You could make some Valentine hot pads, a toaster cover, napkins, or a runner to go with the napkins. Cocktail sized napkins or coasters. You could make them just red and use them at Christmas and Valentine's day. That noise must drive you crazy. Hope they find the solution quickly. Have you Googled your symptoms?
My housekeeper is here and I am still waiting for Pella Windows. I wanted to put a chicken in my instapot but I needed some carrots and turnips. Was going to go when they showed up but now it is to late.
Our weather today is 54 and tomorrow suppose to be 63. Today is cloudy.
I am going to take the dogs for their afternoon walk. I will try to check in later.
Oh my a dear friend from DG way back sent me a wonderful fruit basket. The grapes are the sweetest I've ever eaten. Being careful to not over indulge.
Betty, do you have high blood pressure? That can cause your ears to ring. So far, all the quilts i have done are for her customers.
Karen, I saw that basket in Facebook. It sure was nice if her to send that basket.
Karen, I will have to see if I can find your facebook post.
Eventually we hope that my cat will get along with Adam's dogs. For now, we just take it slow.
Evening everyone, was a sunny but cold day here..
I’ve keot busy last couple of days, where I got the needles the muscle/trapezius is extremely tender so my big plans for the day did not materialize..glad I got an hour or so in before calling it a day.
How wonderful Karen, I’m sure like all of this DG friend is worried about you..glad there are a few things in it you can eat so by that I’m sure you are getting better and stronger now you are eating.
Yes Lindakay I do take meds for high blood pressure, I’ll be sure to mark down what meds I take for the specialist to review.
Took out my Dr. Ho foot unit, know it’s early but going to take hot bath and place my feet on it for 20 minutes and again before heading to bed, trying anything I can to sleep through the night.
We just had Covid update..really on the rise in my district, warning all how imperative it is for no travel, no visits as the new strain is working it’s way through our district.
Other than bread I don’t th8nk I need anything..making a list, if I don’t go to foodland seniors hour at 8am, in/out I will get Greg and Mel to shop for me.
This morning and don’t ask me how, I thought it was recycle day..put my green food bin out and recycle, Mary next door always brings buckets to back door, there was my recycle....drats. At noon hear the trucks running, garbage trucks idling while workers eating pizza for lunch..I quickly got my garbage out using the old lady talk, sorry young men, i forgot, mixed up and put recycle out vs garbage and got a smile and there went my garbage lol
Long day today. Youngest grandson taken to hospital with a brain bleed. He's just 18. Word now is it's not an aneurysm. Tomorrow will be doing a spinal tap to try and locate bleed. He's at Royal Oak Beaumont, about the best there is so in good hands. Hard to be so far away.
Oh my goodness Karen. Not good news. How did they discover he had a brain bleed.
Betty, so pleased you are taking it easy today. your body will eventually say thank you.
Pat, my dogs and cat Peanut sleep together. Boots sleeps somewhere close by. Every once in a while the dogs will chase the cats. If the cats are fighting, both dogs go after them. Peanut picks on Boots all of the time and when they were little, until about 2 years of age, they were great friends. Both female. Boots is bigger and Peanut is the aggressor.
I worked upstairs today on the patio off of Vern's man cave. I started trimming the fig vine but I could only reach so high and I have promised my children that I will not get on a ladder and any such item that will take my feet off the ground. I will have to wait until garden helper is here. He was suppose to be here today but had some lame excuse why he was not able to come. I want to get my windows cleaned before my son gets here but I want to wash down the ivy after I have trimmed it and there are windows everywhere around where I will be washing down the ivy. The ivy is in an area that is covered. So collects a lot of dust and dirt but nothing to clean it off.
Weather was beautiful today and will be so the majority of the week.
Flower is oxalis. Only comes up here in the winter. Blooms the majority of the winter and as soon as the heat hits, it goes back under ground.
He started with the symptoms last night. Extreme headache. DIL called 911 but he refused to let them take him. When he worsened through the night. They finally got him to go to the hospital. His blood pressure was extremely high. They had to get that under control before they could look for problem.
He had brain bleed but not aneurysm. Tomorrow will do a spinal tap to look for source of bleed. Son and DIL are allowed to stay with him.
Oh Karen, that is so scarey! Your family will be in my prayers.
