4 days of company and Thanksgiving would wear me out too!!
I have hired my neighbor boy to look after, feed & play with Stanley while I am gone. Stanley escaped again today. this time I didn't even know how or when, I just noticed he was gone! I know he was in the house at 11:30 when I said goodbye to company, and NOT in the house at 2 PM when Glen came to give me the bid. Stanley came back before 7 PM. I hoped/thought he would be back this time sooner, as it was earlier in the day when he got out AND I figured he'd get hungry.
Sharon & I go the jean quilt top sewn tonight. She took it home to sandwich and start tying it. I should have gotten a picture! What was I thinking??? I will get one when it's completed and ready to gift.
I got the bid on the household stuff and Glen is going to get the baseboard done while I am gone, and come back late next week to get the other stuff done. He's one of Sharon's best friends for years, so I am comfortable giving him a key.
Dead tired and we made a disaster of the sewing room. I'll clean it all up tomorrow.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?come sit a spell, Fall is in the air..come sit a spell..
I bet you are glad that quilt is done. Can't wait to see it.
Yes, I am glad to get the quilt out of my house and moving to the next step. I put more hours in than I should have. Somehow it seems more important to me, than Sharon, that Stephen get this surprise on his bday. As part of my "get organized and get house looking good" I have REALLY been trying to only be actively working on ONE project at a time in my sewing room. I have been tackling at least one small project every day. I have way too much lace etc that will not get used. It needs to be sorted and culled, donated or sold. Just slowly pecking away at the mess.
Today I would LOVE to get a scrub made for Kevin (I will see everybody this weekend) but I am way behind in paperwork so will focus on that today and get the car packed.
Afternoon, nice fall day
June and Pat came this morning, of course we grabbed more that we sewed, caught up of all out Thanksgiving..
Just finished making Shepard’s pie, had so much mashed potatoes left
Called Greg and told him to let Melanie know their supper would be made...sooo made a really big batch, now not enough mashed potatoes so now I’m cooking more potatoes lol
Keep looking at the clock, just 2, won’t take a chance in baking the dishes incase I fall into a deep nap sleep.
Did some calls though, called my Dr. And they still don’t have flu serum and not sure when, called local drug store, one has a few senior serums that is better but chances I’ll get one of those is slim, called my Dr. Back, said perhaps I take regular needle just incase they don’t any in..made appt. for Monday at 4:30 and in the meantime I’ll call other pharmacies.
Called Marlene, I had loaned her my rulers and ruler foot about a year ago, asked her for them as Sharon is using hers so maybe as I’ve spend so much $$ I’ll try mine..she has rulers but cannot find the foot...says she will buy me new one but then you worry they think you are having one over on them, explained there would be no reason to loan her the rulers without the special foot.... Grrrr
Hoping this isn’t the end of my working day and that I can go downstairs and finish that bell wallhanging..we will see
Also have some Victorian Santa blocks I can make something out of but tomorrow is another day
Looks like you have several projects to keep you busy.
I do, always something..right now I’m doing. No no, falling asleep on chesterfield, turning up furnace and putting on socks
Rita messaged me, said the death of her cousins 9 year old’s death child was determined to be a virus, not Covid though..all family were checked and found to be negative..funeral Saturday, they’ve colds so can’t go
So sorry to hear that Betty. Glad it wasn't covid.
Sending prayers for the family.
Always hard to hear of the death of a child. Prayers to her and her family.
I haven't seen Dianne post in a while, has anyone heard from her? Hope all is OK.
We've got a freeze warning for tonight, need to bring in the plants I have in pots.
I haven’t seen her posts either Deb, I’ll have to see if Debbie has heard anything.
Wouldn’t doubt it could freeze here also..
They found the killer of the young Jessop’s girl, lordy must be 20-30 years since her dead..they sent some of her clothing to USA for special testing, the man who killed her committed suicide in 2015..his wife worked with Mr. Jessop’s and were friends it’s family..
They are checking to see if he could be associated with other deaths..some closure for some family members who still live.
Oh my. So sad.
Hello ladies - I'm curious too - how is Dianne, seeing as how she hasn't posted in awhile, I worry.
We had a friend over for Thanksgiving dinner. She's a lovely person. Afterwards we played Canasta - still learning
Work's going well, and it's organizing me better. Not to say I'm not going crazy with 5 days a week having Something to do every day lol
Rainy day here today so moving slowly, having breakfast before I head downstairs..sitting in living room, all the Halloween colours are so pretty, quilts look stunning, great place to sit and enjoy!
Picked from my task jar, must wash all the floors upstairs so guess I have to do that first.
Susan glad you are enjoying your work, after being used to having a free schedule it’s harder to give up your freedom. That being said if it’s not high stress job it will be worth it getting the extra dollars.
Here I am. It's been a long week and. Hopefully I can get some chores done inside.
I'll be back to post after I catch up.
Glad to see you post we worry..
Now we need Sharon to post, think she is extra busy with family visiting.
Linda and Dave dropped in, I’m telling them I had to do groceries Friday, tomorrow ..then maybe fabric shopping Saturday..didn’t realize today is Friday..
LOL Betty I lost last Saturday - wondered why I couldn't get a certain news program that I watch. Not the first time that has happened to me.
Chaos and I walked this morning and I certainly wasn't dressed for it. It's really windy here.
Deb how is your job working out for you ?
Need to get changed. A neighbour up the lane came rushing down last night asking what vet I used. He told me he ran over his dog. Juno ended up crossing the bridge. So I am going to walk up and visit with them.
Oh Lordy Dianne, sad when you lose your pet but how overwhelming to be the one who ran over him by accident...much the same weather, looked at 14 day forecast, rain for 10 of those days.didyou get all your wood ready for when that white stuff comes?
Still sniffling, headache, chills so will make myself comfy in bed. Sharon would like to go fabric shopping tomorrow but I’m thinking just staying quiet might be what is needed..
Was going to make a sandwich before laying down but had a Halloween candy and now I’ve lost my appetite.
Hope you are feeling better soon Betty.
It’s a sunshine day here, Sharon wanted me to go shopping with her today but migraine still with me..went to bed about 3-4 yesterday, had so hoped it would be gone by this morning but not..
Took Tylenol 3, excedrin migraine and rubbed cbd oil on temples and back of neck..
Mixture is easing the pain..with it being a sunshine day I just have to get things done..
Got the water feature pump out of pond
Have another pump pumped whatever I can from the pond then out it comes
Have the 4 fall ins put in back shed and the one with wood pieces that need painting brought on back deck
The loungers near pond put away
Now it’s break time
Need to take all the little water pumps out of the trip bubblers and rock bubbler and If I can wash down the muskoka chair and pieces that go with it this afternoon and tarp and wash lawnmower and put it away I will be ready for the white stuff..
Now it’s coffee and cereal
Meds are starting to work, don’t want to over do
Ziggy didn’t do well with mice but found a black squirrel dead near back shed
I just finished outside Xmas lights, best do it on deck before cold and snow comes..they flicker to music, the new eatery has open house today, had Xmas music going so I could see which lights are flickering, people parking in front of my house must think I’m crazy
Have the deck haunted black lace curtains with orange lights up
Amazing what you can do on mega drugs lol
Now it’s Jammie time and a bowl of soup
Not sure what kind of chocolate cake with fruit they were slicing up for everybody but I got to tell you I’m in big trouble, will weight a ton eating meals and goodies 😲
Betty, you talk about taking it easy, and then list all you have done.
Hope you didn't overdo.
It’s been a dull and rainy day..didn’t do a lot of anything..so confused in which day it is lol
already ran my bath, weather continues to keep the migraine go8ng but not as bad as Friday
Anne came over for few hours, then Cathy dropped in for an hour, I called a few friends I hadn’t spoken to in awhile and here we are Sunday at 4:45..
Will have my bath, have supper then hand sew the the rod pocket on the Christmas’s bell hanging which ought to keep me going til I get comfy in bed.
Early morning all, raining out, guess that will be the trend for the next few weeks"so wanted to get the lawnmower washed and put away, need one more morning of sunshine.
How did your weekend go, was it a busy one?
Got up extra early, enjoying coffee, catching up on news and going my hair if I’m going to barrie, I best make myself presentable.
Pat your time away from home will soon be over and you will be heading home...nice to be away but always nice to be back.
Not much I need in barrie but Sharon has several quilts to make so she will be today’s shopper..I need needles for various sewing needs, had lent my ruler work rulers to Marlene along with the ruler foot, she can’t find the foot so guess I’ll have to buy one..there goes $50..hummingbird fabric has discounted Christmas panel, don’t need one but if there any left I’ll buy one or 2, can put them in my stash
Got the news yesterday that my youngest cousin passed away. He had lung cancer which had spread. He was just diagnosed in July and we thought he had more time. Still waiting for an update on when the funeral will be.
Momcat, so sorry about your cousin. All of my cousins are in their late 80s. Only one cousin out of four has a remaining husband. One is actually 90. I tease them that we come from good stock and will all probably live to be 100.
Betty, I am on here early just to check on you. Our high today is going to be 89. We are cooling down. We have had no rain now or over 100 days. Trees are begging for a bath.
I am working on de-cluttering my home and getting some minor repairs done so I can get it on the market. I have not looked at any homes because the market s hot and anything I will look at will be gone by the time I am ready to buy.
i gave all of Vern's shirts, shoes, etc to the Vets home. I did one drawer yesterday of paperwork and had two things to save, a stack to shred and another pile for recycle.
I knew moving was going to be a nightmare and I was right. Good thing I do not have a time table.
Betty I do hope your trip to Barrie was a fun one. I have no appointments this week so I should be able to get quite a few drawers emptied. I am finding thigs I have totally forgotten about.
I refilled my hummingbird feeders Saturday because I was being buzzed by quite a few, front and back. Many of the hu er spend the winter here. Hope they can find me when I move.
I am going to plant some radishes, lettuce and turnips today. But it is 11 and I am still in my pjs. Better get moving.
Betty, that is cheap for a panel in Canada. You better stock up.
Deb, so sorry to hear about your cousin passing. Sending prayers for the family.
Sharon, we are still in the 90s too. But our hummers all migrated a month ago. Its amazing how many surprises we find when we start going through things.
I got my quilt, quilted. It just needs the binding.
Deb, so sorry to hear about your cousin, regardless if you know it’s coming it’s still a shock. Did he live local or will you have to travel for the funeral?
Sharon, market is the same here, out house on market one day and almost sold next day. Some are thinking all the young ones with homes over a million who can now work from home and they are pretty sure will remain working from home are buying 700’s here up here. Would be a hard day for you letting go of Vern’s clothing.hugs
Lindakay, beautiful quilt, doesn’t it give you such a feeling of accomplishment.
Did go to barrie with Sharon, bought mostly supplies other than fabrics, needles, iron off, embroidery wash always etc..we dot there at 10:10 and they had already ran out of panels...Sharon ended up ordering a panel from a st Catherine’s on line quilt shop, not that either of us needed one
Just looked at the clock, need to be at pharmacy in town for flu shot so best I get a move on
I love the quilt Linda Kay! That is gorgeous!
That Christmas panel is really nice, Betty! I didn't think any of those things came that cheap! I don't know anything but $5 sounds like a really good price!
My cousin lived in the area, still waiting to hear the plans. He had helped me out quite a bit over the years with painting and odd repair jobs that I needed a hand with. He will be greatly missed. Thank you for the prayers and kind words.
Yes Deb that is extremely cheap, they are daily specials, usually between $14.99-19.99..guess the special are overstock.
You will surely miss your cousin...
Lindakay, it must have been a struggle to quilt it on a regular sewing machine..nice the new machines are coming out with 11+ inch throats on them
Got
Hugs Deb on the loss of your cousin.
I'm the oldest of all the cousins. Already I've lost 7. hadn't realized so many .
Linda, your quilt is beautiful.
I spent the day sewing today, felt so good. Got a few things out of my way so I can make forward progress again. Hmmm so many projects lined up. Maybe Payton's tee-shirt quilt should be first. I'm buying him his yearbook too as his dad refuses to help at all. He said that's what child support is for. Senior expenses are so high.
Ain't it the truth Linda K!!! THAT is Betty's idea of taking it easy?? LOL
I spent from Thursday thru today at my oldest son Dana & wife Carrie's
new house. They bought a fixer-upper a few months back. Last week they had new laminate flooring put down in the man cave, a partial wall removed and the room painted. Bought & assembled 3 book cases and a 16 cube display case. He has been busy unpacking and displacing his giant Lego sets over this past week.. I spent 2 hours just cleaning the French doors into the room. Someone had slopped paint on the window panes, all the molding was heavily soiled with multiple ridges of detailing. I was so pleased with the end result!
Then I helped Dana "shovel" the office and take out the 2 storage stands out to the shed with all the bins we emptied. He had overdone it and was in a LOT of pain with his back, his foot swelling. The toting of stuff out to the shed is the kind of stuff I normally hire help for, but this time it was me doing the toting to avoid my son doing it. I took several sets of 'storage" stuff out to the shed and lots of other things that had been temporarily stuffed in his office. He was able to put out on display Lego sets that had not been unpacked for the last 4 years! This is an example of ONE of his sets https://www.shopdisney.com/disney-castle-playset-by-lego-limited-release-673419254601.html?CMP=KNC-DSSGoogle&efc=179006&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8rT8BRCbARIsALWiOvQEvOpFsIc2JKO_8pTgjhREinpZhl-Ay1kGLWpsORa3JSUTnT_X2JAaAuEqEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Carrie & I spent this morning going thru their closet and sorting out clothes & miscellaneous, putting up the big dresser mirror and other projects. All and all, a very satisfying "working vacation".
Good morning, another rain day..Pat and June will be here at 9, got garbage to roadside knitted a few inches in cable headband (winter is coming) enjoying cereal and a coffee and might get a side of the wonky snowman binding sewn
Now that is one heck of a few days away Pat, I am sure they appreciate the work you have done and you smiling away at what you were able to accomplish..holy,wah, that was quite a project, the Disney piece is spectacular.
Karen it so sad that some dad’s don’t follow through with helping their children..yearbook is something he can cherish throughout their lives..kudos for you helping out..which Christmas tree skirt pattern are you making?
Lindakay when is the quilt show and will the quilts be for sale or for display only?
Wow Pat, you have been busy. Sure they are appreciating all the help. I've seen some of those Lego collector sets. Sammi has one for Friends. Does he glue them together?
Not a tree skirt Betty, I'm making his tee-shirt quilt. Jess has been saving his since grade school.
No, they don't glue them. The Friends set is one of the few that Carrie followed thru with from start to finish. She told me that she has "helped" Dana, or started and got bored and quit but Friends she completed!!
I don't understand that attitude about the yearbook or other "extra expenses". Being the non-custodial parent frequently leads to that attitude though. My grandson Aiden is asking to move to his mother's and I am genuinely afraid that is what Adam will do. He has such resentment towards the Ex. I can only hope if the move happens that Ex will allow me contact. I could be a help and support to her, guess we will see.
Karen, Linda messaged me yesterday asking me if I wanted to do a queen size T-shirt quilt and I told her I would pass, so much work, ok for family/friend but not a stranger.lthey would never pay what it would be worth even at 1/2 discount $$$$
I must say, proud to say that when Jeff and Lisa divorced when bones were 2-3 years old I kept in good standing with her..talk to her frequently, send her Christmas/birthday gifts, in fact she dropped in on Thanksgiving..their divorce had nothing to do with me..I remember her mother call me and ask what kind of mother was I to not get involved, try to save the marriage..was the kind who said it was nothing to do with me, kept friendship lines still open..wasn’t happy when Jeff had to pay almost 3K a month, 2 children and support payments plus 50% of activity fees..now paying 1k as Caleb is still in university..he will finish in May and that will be that.. great dad but I’m sure when payments come to an end he will celebrate lol
Girls left, think I will have soup, take Shepard’s pie out of freezer, finish hand sewing b9rder on the wonky snowman then have a nap, tired today
Betty, I made one last year and charged $250 plus the long arming. Told them then I wouldn't do again for less than $400. plus long arming. I can actually make one in just a few days but...... I have the tools to make it easier too. I most likely will be making a few of them this year for my grads.
Some dads get jabbed and others do the jabbing. Bryan's ex took him to the cleaners and he didn't fight it. She also turned the kids against him and he didn't fight that either. At the time he didn't have anyone to advise him differently.
Sad when that happens..Jeff says he never regretted it, knew boys were well looked after... got a kick ouT of Jeff, Many years ago when Lisa remarried he said he liked the new hubby and felt sorry for him
You would earn every bit of $400
I have all the tools and can do quilting in frame but not interested.
Sharon dropped off the Christmas panel she bought me, love it..she ordered Saturday afternoon and it came in today..they have gorgeous panels, might have to order a few..after $100 free shipping
Thanks for the comments.
I took the quilt to the quilt shop and used the longarm. Didn't take too long. The quilt show is end of the month. We can choose to sell or just display. If I get a decent offer, I will sell it.
I love those panels Betty.
Pat you have been super busy. I know they appreciated all you did for them.
Lovely quilt, Betty! You're right - a stranger would never pay The $$ it's worth.
I'm loving the job & heading out to work now. Bob brushed the car off, so I have a few min to post.
Take care everyone (btw - job's only 22k drive away, so not far at all.)
Brrr dampness gets to you, turned the heat up 3 times, going to opt for fireplace now.. Ziggy just came in, wasn’t out long, doesn’t like rain so here we are both cuddled on the couch..
Susan, when you said Bob brushed off car, must mean you had a tad of the white stuff? Not a long drive for sure but still on bad weather it can be dangerous. You have 1 vehicle? Does Bob drive you to work or is he home without a vehicle?
Just warmed the stew and dumplings Sharon brought me yesterday for lunch then I really should get ambitious..
I’ll wait til 1 when they give updates re Covid..they change requirement when numbers are up so like to know what I am suppose to be doing for my part in fighting the batlle
The panels are gorgeous. When did you do the cute little Christmas throw?
The handy man/ contractor I hired comes this morning. I am looking forward to getting a few more things DONE and off the to-do list.
My sister wants to have a craft sale/ yard sale next spring. I dread it, although I understand why and the need. She has a LOT more money wrapped up in supplies etc than I do. If we are dropping the doll project than we don't need a bunch of this stuff!
I am feeling this burning urgent to dejunk and downsize. I was out in the barn and just had to shake my head. There is still so much stuff from the medical supplies I used with Ben. I need to go thru it and sell or donate. It won't be today... too much to do IN the house.
I have boxes and boxes of stuff that Ben's girls said they wanted but with Covid, I have not seen any of them since the funeral, 8 months now. Not sure what I will do about it, guess call and set deadline. Only alternative would be for me to hire it loaded into my truck and take it TO Rebecca. 4 hours away, I hate driving the truck very far but want this furniture gone as well. Roll top desk, a "secretary desk" that has drop down desk top with glass front book case above. It's been in their family for years. Ugh. Guess I will talk to her later today, I don't want there to be any hard feelings but when Rebecca said they are not looking for a new house until " after the Texas assignment", I don't' want to store all this 2 more years. It could be 6 months before she leaves & It's a year long assignment!
I hurt today, I'd rather read and nap!!!
