Cannot believe it’s evening, had a beautiful day get some resting but did get a lot done. Mom did go home I didn’t have to say anything she said no she came to get her dog groomed and she was heading home. But I did cut her hair and set it for her, she looks so sad and groomed her who goes to the hairdressers twice a week.
I washed everything up other than her hair I know I could get Covid just doing her hair but other than that we distant ourselves.
Went to town earlier so everyone getting off work wouldn’t be shopping and I did well until I got to the nursery to buy mulch. I stood in line for a good half hour walk directly to the chill inside to pay for mulch and she told me this was the third time this week they had mulch come in and there was none to be had. I suggested that maybe it might be nice if they put a sign where you got the cart saying no mulch.
Mom had sent Sharon via Brian a bunch of hostas, there were a few I didn’t have so Sharon shared, I just watered them so they should be OK till tomorrow. I had taken the lawnmower out and it was in the driveway thinking that when I got home and put my groceries away I would do the lawn but I’m going to get the key start it and put it out of you and cut it in the morning.
Pat I wish you luck with the garage sale I’m sure people are just anxious to get out there and start buying treasures, more for something to do than anything else.
Oh my God Dianne, Been throughout the states in the worst place I’ve heard the cicadas was on my visit Judy in Illinois. Don't know if I could live in a region that I’d have to listen to them all the time can you just imagine I’d they were to come out now? Do you do fine plants more expensive in your region? So glad you have your little helper, maybe he’ll be a landscaper?
Susan, I’m thinking around 15+ years but could be wrong.
LIndakay, hope you didn’t have to wait in line again for your lemons.
Dianne have to say thank God to have our health system, slow at times but if you go to emerge they will put you through every test imaginable.
Hmm maybe a nap is in order..thInk I should go out the side of the house and take covering off a/c and turn it on, eat and relax.
Best/Worse/What did I learn Today? A place to chat with friends..always a chair by the Gardens for newcomers to join in..come sit a spell!
Imagine, snow 2 weeks ago, furnace and fireplace on..just turned on air
Guess when mom cam I forgot to turn key off..drats charging battery
Glad you got to see your Mom and friends. Guess it was better she decided not to stay.
We just word an hour ago, our town now has its 14th virus patient. It has been almost a month since the last one was announced. Rumor has it, a family from here, drove south to the next town, for a birthday party. We have been in lock down until a week ago, and we are still limited to gatherings of no more than 10. Makes me mad someone deliberately breaks those rules.
A news alert just came on saying Ontario hit the largest number of Covid to date today and they want to start even socializing a bit? Some people think it’s a lit of fantasy..some gmt agencies
Think I told you Bonnie across the street had it, he is a paramedic, had to stay home for 2 weeks, at least he had some training to help her..she I would say is in her low 5O’s
All because they don't listen. Someone goes out, don't know they have it yet, and spread it to so many.
Just woke up,watching a movie, they were celebrating St Patrick’s big parade, people enjoying, hugging and partying in the bars..remember my trip, milked New Orleans etc where mega crowds is the normal..makes me wonder if it will ever be the same..tragic really!

Good morning, well really afternoon everyone..
It’s the perfect day out there, so far not all that I planned for today is turning out but switching plans..
Guess I left lawn mower key on and killed battery, I had charger on but still no go, Greg came over and switched the setting, said it needed more charging than the trickle I had it on..asked him to take my mower from under the shed out, it’s self propelled, he went on and on that if he started it guess who would do all her grass with it..anyway I gave him the tad of gas to at least get the initial start , he was doing his pool and hot rub so headed off and I went for gas. I’ve done about 1/4 of the yard, got the 6 big acrylic chairs out and have been spraying javex/water on them, have 2 of the 6 done, going to have a hot then head out and finish the other 4 and maybe wash my car..it so needs a vacuuming but I’ll wait to do inside until I have all the mulch and plants picked up.
Would like to transplant the hostas and maybe even break up a few.
Maybe find a home for the daisy birdhouse out there..we will see
That will be about my day, what are you all up to.
Betty, you are not listening to the doctors advice. You need to rest that arm.
Not doing much. Our computer crashed last week. No one in town has any. They are all sold out. So it looks like will have to do some online shopping.
You can get good sales online, the only thing is delivery, they give you a good time line then after processed says it’s on its way and takes forever..still no elastic, darlene ordered a rug 3 weeks ago, was suppose to be 3 day delivery but no go.
Is there a town nearby you could drive to for purchasing?
Although it sounds like a lot it really isn’t..just made 2nd of linda’s 12 face masks..
Going to go clean up the tools and just relax..maybe nice soak and make a nice supper..souvlaki dinner without the salad..forgot to buy the fixings and not going to town.
Lots of time to rest as we’ve 4 days of rain coming
Yard sale here... about time to close down. Did not do very well but I think we'll try AGAIN tomorrow or Monday but put a LOT more signs out etc. THAT will make a big difference. AND BRIGHT signs, my white signs were just not cutting it. Things that should have had no trouble selling are not sold. We'll see!! We have not let anybody shop without a mask. If they didn't have one, we gave them a throw away made of folded fabric & tape.
I sold 8 masks, that was good. I have more made and can't find them!!!! So frustrating.
I hope to clean up this sewing mess and assemble the cat tower that came, and the patio storage bench, AND assemble the new metal patio chair. WHAT a mess everywhere.
Stanley is being Stanley, cute as button. My granddaughter and I played with a wand and "bird feathers" with him last night. We laughed so hard, so much fun.
Likely people are still concerned..here is hoping your next attempt you will do better..ingenious re masks lol
Now if you can find the other masks..how many can you not find?
Quiet afternoon here, tomorrow rain comes but hoping maybe later in the day or early morning and still have part of Sunday. Did not do mulch, waiting to see if I can get Greg to place a bag out front and one out back because they are too heavy for me..I’ll go buy more once these bags have been used up.
Ziggy is antsy , wants out but not going to happen or I’ll be up all night waiting for him..glad you are enjoying Stanley
Everyone must be out enjoying the nice weather.
Nearest store for computers is San Antonio. 3 hours away.
WOW Linda! Who knew you would have to go so far to buy a computer!
I'm probably missing close to a dozen masks that were done. I KNOW I had some kids masks made up. This house is such a disaster someone could hide an elephant in it and I could not find it!!
We've had dinner so now I start the slow process to clean up the house. Most of what does not sell I will find somewhere to take the donation, son says he knows several. there are a few bigger ticket items that I will continue to try to sell online.
Dianne - I agree with your 2 cents worth - Betty, your mom needs to recognize your health issues.
LK - not surprised they threw out the lemons. What the heck was that woman trying to prove, that she's inconsiderate & rude?
I finally got my tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers & pumpkins planted today. I also put seed in for squash. Put up some trellises for the cukes, squash & zucchini. Only the cukes are plants, but the rest will come too - maybe much later in the season, but they'll come.
The garden wasn't totally dry after the past 3 days of rain, but it wasn't gumbo either. It's all relative for those who would, or wouldn't go into the garden. Wearing the right footwear it was fine, and I didn't end up with large clumps of mud either. It was just wet dirt, not mud.
Here's hoping my tomatoes & green peppers will do well this year.
Good luck with your garden. I envy those that have the discipline and desire for beautiful vegetable gardens. I have not eaten anything out of anything I grew in a LONG LONG time!
Yeah, I love our little town, but it is a pain in the butt when you need something like a computer. We went to Walmart yesterday, and there was not one in stock. No desktop, laptop or all in one. The guy working the counter told us they can't keep them in stock. As soon as they come in, they sell like hot cakes before the day is out.
Susan, good luck with your garden.
Pat, I hope you find your masks you made.
Morning..
LIndakay, can you not do an internet purchase from Walmart and have them ship to your store..know when I needed wool they did it ? Maybe different because of Covid.
Pat, could you have put them in your car, weren’t you bringing some to the office?
Susan, here is hoping you have a good crop. On the side where secret darden is last week they bought an above ground acrylic type unit, put their soil in it and planted..will be interesting to see her crop. If it were not for being alone I might attempt to plant a veggie garden, used to but now with the fruit and vegetable store between me and Midland and reasonable prices not worth it.
Was up at 6:30, ran my bath then decided it was clouding over, maybe I could get the lawnmowers put away and those few clumps of hostas in the ground to take advantage of the rain..
No sooner was I out that the sun came out, got lawnmowers put away, did hostas and divided a few..thought I’d look at the trio column bubblers..got 2 going instantly but the tall one that had the biggest pump wouldn’t go, pump died..found a small pump but it is not strong enough to pump that heights, left it in but guess there goes another $100 on pump.
Cleaned the back area and am sitting here having a scone Melanie just dropped off that she just baked, could just fall asleep, birds, are, chirping, water feature sounds relax me. The ferns are really growing, had to move a few over..anything that is around the pond dies well because each year when I empty it they get a good feeding of that guck
Every once in awhile the she sun is hidden by clouds but a perfect day it is..guess the tub I ran at 6:30 has cooled enough that I’ll have to empty and refill.
Not sure why Melanie and Greg laughed when I said I’m almost done the work and can now relax and enjoy. 😂
Yes, and there are fruitcakes that think China spread the virus intentionally etc etc.
When a client told me a friend thought COVID-19 was a hoax, I told her that her friend obviously didn't know people that died. I do/did.
Another stunning day here but not as hot as yesterday.
Kieran and I got all the bedding plants in the ground. We even took a road trip to get more. I handed him a flat and said go fill it up with what you would like to plant. That kid has a good eye !!
Lots of excitement on the lake yesterday. Some poor soul at the village boat ramp had his boat trailer and pick up truck slide into the lake. The truck was completely submerged. His 2 teen sons in the truck didn't hear him or just plain ignored dad yelling 'pull the hand brake'. The whole '9 yards' had to attend.... fire, police and ambulance They had to get a diver in to check if someone was left in the truck plus attach the hitch so everything could be pulled out. Big doings for Verona.
Pat I have a friend who has 2 MAs and she believes the whole covid thing is a hoax. I wanted to say 'my god woman use your brain'. Sometimes it is just better to shut up then try and engage someone that is that far down the rabbit hole.
Karen must be enjoying her time with all her grands.
Diesel is 8 today. And yes I made a fuss over it being his BD. He even got a cake to share with Chaos. Steak for the boys' dinner tonight.
No veggies here in the garden just flowers. The wildlife clean me out so this year they can just feast on the many Hostas I have growing.
Stay safe and well.
Betty, I had the same reaction to your comment. You will never finish. Why do I know, because I am the same way. But I am getting better. My house is larger do my landscape area is smaller. That is probably a good thing. I have one area that I sit in the most, so that area is my main garden bed in the back landscape. The majority of my plants in the back are in pots in that area. So much easier to garden. If something has a problem, I just pull the pot, put it in the greenhouse and put in a different pot.
Susan, good for you tackling the damp soil to plant your garden. I have tomato plants and a bed with lettuce and basil. Gave a friend a big bag of lettuce yesterday when she left. My parents always grew a very large garden and gave a lot away. That was their satisfaction. Giving a friend something fresh from the garden.
Linda, even larger cities are low on product. I had a double oven go out in a rental and had to order it from Lowe's on line and it took 2 weeks to get here. Lucky I have a patient tenant. Of course, my daughter did all the leg work on that one. I would be kinda lost without the help of my daughter and her family.
Pat, when Vern and I first got the two kittens, we were laughing all of the time. They were just so fun to watch. That cat is so blessed to find you as his new family. He is one lucky cat. You have a lot of work ahead of you putting together the cat tower. Vern and I put together our last one and it was challenging. You need to get him a box. Not to big. They love to get in boxes.
Thinking this virus is a hoax is crazy. I ventured out last Wednesday and had the smog done on my car and the oil changed and did not have to get out of my car. Then I went to Lowe's for plants, then to Star Nursery for plants and finished pant hunting at Home Depot. My final stop was at trader Jo's . Had to wait in line outside to enter Trader Jo's. During all of these visits, I wore my mask. I also have a baggy full of clorax wipes. I was gone about 3 hours. When I was leaving the parking lot of Trader Jo's, my car would not go after I had backed up. The harder I pressed on the gas, nothing. I was locking to see if I had placed the parking brake on when I discovered I had had my foot on the brake all long. I thought, oh no, I am losing it. When I got home, it was a struggle to get everything out of my car and put away. I had picked up two flats of plants for a neighbor and I needed to deliver them because her son was coming over to plant them. I placed the flats by the driveway and while backing out, ran into her streetscape tree. Did not damage to my car or the tree but gave to cause to think I was really losing it. That night I went to bed at 9 because I was so tired,. I was fine the next day. While I was gardening yesterday, I realized it was the mask. I had a hard time breathing while wearing the mask and got really hot.
I think I fried my brain from not breathing right. All of these stores are close together, so there was little time I did not have the mask on in the three hours. So now you guys know my secret.
First photo is a ground cover that has overgrown the pot and trailing down the side of the planter. Second is the area I replanted and moved pots yesterday. Everything in this area is in pots. Second is a succulent, which I have many, that just loves where it is at.
Happy 8th birthday Diesel..how has he been feeling Dianne?
Oh my goodness, thank goodness nobody was injured.high cost to replace or repair though.
Are they calling for storms in your area Dianne? A few minutes ago we had a couple minutes of light rain not even enough to wet the ground.maybe it’s a coming.
Kieran is a blessing to you..I’m sure you are teaching him big time.
I hadn’t eaten lunch so decided to have souvlaki for late lunch and early supper..
Still trying to decide if I want to rest, bhave a nap or go and work on face masks..
You are so right, this Covid19 is like talking politics and religion...we’ve had I think they’ve said 6,500 deaths, how to heck can you call it a hoax..I know 2 people who passed because of it and the woman across the road who has had it..few people as well I know who are almost sure they had it early March..I just don’t know!
LOL "that far down the rabbit hole", that's a GREAT saying!!
The granddaughters are still out there sitting in the shade trying to make a buck with the yard sale. I think the $65 sale on the dresser re-enthused them! I helped set up yesterday (not to mention gather all this stuff TO sell), then youngest & I went out and put out a dozen signs, those helped! I have sat in cool house while they also have been selling my face masks. WORKS for me!!
All money is to go towards Drivers Ed, any money beyond that goal goes towards the tires her car will need. I hope they can get that Queen size headboard & foot board sold. I really don't want to store it any longer!
Sharon, I’m losing it, didn’t see your post..omg you did hav quite a day, likely combination of heat, mask and tired..few stores is almost a full day out. I don’t do well with putting things together, often pay the extra to have their staff put it together but don’t think they do that much anymore.
My ground cover is doing ok but lost most of my succulents I had in cement pieces I had made, maybe they were too old to fare the winter, usually they are fine.
Pat, did you find your masks? How old are your granddaughters? Hope you sell those wood pieces, they would be grand refinished.
storm is hovering over the house, lots of booms/bangs, little bit of rain, hoping that is all we get as I always worry about hydro going out and sump pumps not work.
Went outside to bring something in and Ziggy ran out, trying to call him in but no go..odd, he stayed in all day and now he is out for the night I guess.
Know it’s early but I’m tempted to settle in for the night
Afternoon all,
Lied you I’ve been up just after 3a.m. Did a few things and headed downstairs..ended up making 11 more masks ..hurrah for me.
Sharon picked me up at 8:30 and headed to Barrie, long waits everywhere, most take no cash and you must wear a mask.
Bought a new pump for the tallest of the cement columns..been hard on pocketbook with regards to pumps.bought a few kinds of elastic, not 1/8th or 1/4” inch, terrible stuff but better than nothing.
So for me my days is almost over, tired..even trying to think if I’ve enough energy to go out pump in..maybe a nap then later
What is new in your neighbourhood.
The two granddaughter are 16 YO in 1 month & 14. Their family has it pretty rough financially so I try to give them opportunities to earn money when I can. If they were more motivated and harder workers it would easier to make use of them for labor! they made $300 and I got $100 in masks with orders for more. LOTS of stuff gone but unfortunately still headboard didn't sell and one of the dressers. I have ads on craigslist now and should learn how to put them on Facebook Market place.
Today I am going to clean in living room and the game/sewing room and I expect to find the masks.
There are pics from this morning. #2, I was trying to get a good picture of my calla lilies but they are too white against the white lattice and didn't show up.
edited to say, the curtains in the living room look funny, I have the dark pink solid curtains pulled over 1/2 way and not on the other side, leaving just the white lace over curtain showing from the outside. That is how I keep the sun from blinding me at the computer in the morning. I hung the solid curtains on an expandable shower curtain inside the window sill, with grommet curtains, looks kinda dumb, but works well!

Oh Pat, what I wouldn’t give to have flowers like those, spectacular, you must feed them well!my poor vine at best has 3 or 4 flowers at best..I’m thinking I should move it.
Nice age..$300, now for a garage sale that was a good sale? They just need grandma edging them on
Yes, it was a good sale. Like I said it would have been more if I had not given many things away to friends & family. LOL Car engine host, engine stand, router & table, tile cutter and much more. If family or friends needed, or wanted it, before we set up for sale, I gave it to them. THAT was long before the girls came to help. It was all my stuff so it wasn't like I was giving their stuff away!!
I have a lead on the headboard and the lady wants to buy masks. I will meet her tomorrow.
I went to 2 major fabric stores, long line ups, no elastic
Bought something in hopes it works, if not then I will have to make the ties, just heavier to wear
Last I saw Joann's online had elastic. How long does it take to ship to you?
Beautiful flowers Pat.
Betty, can you find hair ties? Some are using those. You can find them at $$$ stores for less money. If you have old t shirts, you can cut 1 inch strips. That works good too.

I've heard the tee shirt strips work well and are comfy too.
I've tried the T-shirt strips, they are not bad. I don't like the hair ties are they are too short and not all that soft.
Well I just got a big surprise. And to say the least, I am flabbergasted. One grandson took photos of my front landscape and granddaughter in St. Louis entered my front landscape into the Better Homes and Garden Best Front Yard for 2020. And I am in the top 10. My front yard is #8. Please look at the site and vote for me. I actually think other gardens are very nice but what are friends for.
I cleaned my garage yesterday from 1 to 7. It is a big garage and the majority of the work was putting things away. I tossed many things that were just garbage. I am the only one using the garage so I created the mess. Funny thing about cleaning the garage, this is the first time I actually set up a day with myself to do so. Usually I enter the garage to do something else and end up spending the rest of the day there cleaning. I went to bed at 11 and woke up at 10. Of course, my Dad's old adage was in full play. "You don't quit when you're tired, you quit when you're done".
Pat, I do the same thing. I try to give everything to someone. Then if they do not want it, I donate it. I live in a guard gated community so garage sales are not allowed. Pat your flowers are beautiful.
Betty, my daughter went to Joanne's and she said the shelves were empty. What are you doing today Betty. Governor has another announcement today regarding going into Phase II. I could not believe those people on the news in all of those crowded pools. The economy cannot afford another shut down. And these stay at home orders are causing many individuals mental anxiety. We are lucky, we have our gardens.
Believe it or not, I am still sitting on my back patio in my lounge clothes. Guess I need to get up, feed the dogs, curl my hair and get dressed. Going to be a hot one today.
Voted, and I do think your is the best. I liked it the most.
Took a day for me, relaxed which I think is more tiring..
Cool inside and hot outside, did get comfy on back settee, put Rogers Ignite t.v. On and watched a movie..Mel dropped in for an hour just before the rain started.
Wondering what to do next to fill in rest of day.
That is wonderful news Sharron, well deserved for sure. You remember on an organizing mission for sure..great job.
know Karen said she voted but I don’t see a link, I’ll go in search of it.
Not a lot in the major fabric stores here either, smaller ones you have to shop online and parcel pick up.
Got reply from the company I ordered elastic from, they say it’s in this country... big sigh
Voted for Sharon ... here's the link :-) She is #8.

Hey "M". Nice you see you pop in. How are you doing?
Thanks for the link.
I was looking for the address exchange here on Dg. Anyone know where they moved it to?
"in the country" but not in YOUR hands! LOL
Thanks Sharon, it's the spring flush. I got lucky and had several flowers at peak at the same time. I do plant for all season interest but sometimes I get luckier than other times and it comes together better than normal.
