Best/Worse/What did I learn Today? A place to chat with friends..always a chair by the Gardens for newcomers to join in..come sit a spell!
Can’t believe it’s just 1pm
Need to go to pharmacy for Tylenol 3 but putting it off for another hour or so, thInk post office mail delivery person doesn’t do boxes till around 2-2:30, hoping elastic and linda’s Fabric is there..doubtful on elastic.
Fixed Lindakay directional sign..needs a few coats of paint..then it’s in to Deb’s (will have to jet in Chicago as it won’t take northeast Illinois for mileage) and retouch Karen’s..will have to redo mileage
Grouted the glass piece, need to keep washing grout off marbles, I’ll seal it tomorrow

Thanks for the new room Betty. Seems like you always find things to do. I hope you don't sand that beautiful gourd. Wish I had half your energy and talent.
No energy today lindakay..got your and Pat’s arrow done with a few trips to washroom, freezing and know where every bone in my body ..I’m so cold that I’m running the tub.
It says my elastic should be here today, not believing them..think maybe I’ll take a quick run to mail box, ashamed to say I’ll drive vs walk lol then tub will be waiting to warm me up

Praying you get your elastic.
Problem is the photo they just included in email is the cording you find on paper masks and not really what I ordered..wasn’t there nor was Linda’s fabric
We had a cold spell move in. Low in the 50s and high was 73. Had to find warm clothing to garden in and wore long jeans. This ended up being a three day project but that is because I am getting slower with my age. I started to fix the irrigation and discovered I had a sumac root invasion and I needed to address that or not bother with adjusting the irrigation. But, as I found out yesterday, when chasing roots, be sure you know which root you are chasing. I just about destroyed a very long root that led directly to the main base of the jasmine vine growing on the house wall. I was standing today and pulling a root, which I knew where it ended. Well it broke loose and sent me tumbling on my butt and back. Right onto a big boulder. No harm, actually acted as a chair. I am working on this area because I spend a lot of time on my bench watching the hummingbirds and cannot stand the mess. Just trying to ge everything for my pleasure for the next few years before I move. I will not stay here when I can no longer garden. I am hoping for at least 3 more years.
Betty, your gourd is beautiful. And I do not think I have a post. But I have never been to your property. But you have been to mine. You could just paint a worm on mine.
One of my disappointments of working in the garden the last three days as I did not spot a worm. That means the soil is in need of compost and worm castings. I will get on that tomorrow.
I actually have an appointment for a manicure and a pedicure for June 5th and a hair appointment for June 17th.
Betty, tonight I had a flour tortilla tonight with a slice of chicken off a roasted chicken. As I was walking toward my chair I told myself I needed to stop buying all of the food I do not use because my eating habits are very simple.
Linda, I saw your temps on Facebook. That is where we are headed.
My coleus got ordered late and are arriving this week. Bad timing on my part.
First three photos are during and last is finished root removal and irrigation fixed. Now all I need is to plant the ground cover.
It’s a sunshine day and more to come all week..high of 66 today but still a little cool so I decided I’d go out and bring in signs and touch up a bit..
Yes indeed you have a sign, not all the names were from those who visited..not sure but think yours has a semi cactus but could add a worm..
Praying you do get at least 3 more years and if it get harder and harder have a company come in and do the heavy work and you can just manage the weeds.
Lordy wish I could go and get a proper cut and perm, one I gave myself didn’t curl much. Bet it’s nice to be able to schedule such things, almost seems like a luxury these days.. thank goodness you didn’t injure yourself.
That pathway is so inviting..while I walked the gardens this morning I decided that where there is a froNt side of the pond I might look for a slab of cement and add the solar frogs, thInk they would look lovely there..
I’ll have a coffee and cereal, do my hair, get dressed and take on the day!
Betty, I live in Des Plaines, if that helps.
it does Deb, mileage is 618..don’t know if you knew I had a mileage post in honour of all of you..you are all in my gardens through 4 seasons..I’d miss you all if not there
You'll have to post photos of the sign post again Betty. I remember seeing it quite a while ago.
Still cool and rainy here. Enjoying having Amelia and Lorelei.
Betty, I was stunned and so touched to see I had a sign!! When you mentioned Pat's sign, I figured you meant one of your other friends as I had never been to your home!! thank you so much!
Sharon, your area is so beautiful. I'm with Betty, hire what you need to and stay as long as possible!
Stanley still needs to be coaxed to leave the bedroom but he has actually climbed up in my lap a couple of times on his own & on Kevin's. He is still real spooky, any noise and he is like a shot. Just the noise of the wood floor creaking is enough to make him hide. It is getting better, will take time.
Pat your is hanging on the pole, these have been retouched, sitting in the sun they are to dry properly then I’ll give them a few coats of finish and back on the pole with the others..some of the other could do with the white wording beIng redone..
Know they are primitive but I enjoy them and Ziggy gave me the nod of approval..
Will take a picture later this afternoon when they are back on the pole..
Sharon, you have been busy.
Karen, so glad you are enjoying your visit with the grandkids.
Our hair salons are open, but so busy. I need to call and get my name on the list.
Mom called me today, can’t find anyone to groom her dog, nails are starting to turn under so John and Darlene are getting theirs done by my friend Wanneta and Mom after Wanneta is done with Pettie on Friday..couldn’t tell mom not to come, said we would have to stay away from each other.
My tv went off again, called Rogers, got a woman called Michelle, held my phone a foot + away from my ear..she was gasping for air, then asked me to wait a moment, said her heart was beating so fast, told her I was hanging up, going to call and get a different agent and she best call 911.
Worked outside for a few hours, going to go to post office then bath and run myself done, didn’t do a lot but maybe more than I should have.
Dianne, thought of you and all your garden work and it’s beauty, looked at mine and all I can see is the mega work still needed for it to look ok..
Wonder if there is ever a time I too can say too much..
Got the arrows put up..thInk my 4x4:is getting weak at the bottom.
Took hose out and set it at the pond ready for tomorrow, want to find an old broom and something to scrub the patio stones in back garden..wish I had javex but none nearby to be found.
Suzanne got a call from my doctors office, I had given them my number when they were trying to book hospital surgery because she has a cel and I might miss call..the secretary said she had been trying my 2 numbers and couldn’t get through..likely I was on with Rogers..anyway she rushed over, thought there was something wrong with me..anyway long story short she rushed here, doctor came and gave me 8 shots in different areas of the trapezius muscle (?)
Police, ambulances, fire trucks are down the street, virtually my back yard..wonder what happened?
Signs look good Betty. Pat you must be about the furthest away. Or maybe in a tie with Sharon.
Do you remember Laura from Australia? Hers is there nut yes thInk Pat is the furthest then Liz then Sharon..
Found out what all the emergency vehicles were and are still just down from me..someone shot themselves..don’t know if just one..these times are hard
Sorry to hear about the shooting. Sending prayers.
It seems there has been quite a bit of suicide the past couple months. Also domestic abuse is somewhat worse. Sad.
Betty trying to remember, thinking we also had someone from France but my banged up head isn't bringing up the name. She even got in on the swaps.
Betty - the post brings back memories....... all those friends whose names I love to see Tubby Tee....... was Carol Rogers on there too? Is mine there as well, in Torrington, AB?
Our weather has been improving, and now we're getting the steady gentle rain we need.
We have lots of worms all over our veggie garden. We also have brown spots in our lawn, and Bob says it's some kind of insects burrowing underneath.
Few days ago I dyed my hair burgundy, and yesterday I got it cut - cute summer cut.
Yesterday we also went to a garden center, and I was looking for a specific flower. They had just put in their garden order, but were able to add to it for my Cleome - I love the look of this flower. Grew a whole row of it against a garden fence in Winnipeg. Here's what they look like - got the picture off the web
Morning all, suppose to be a sunshine day today, high temps
Will play outside but not overdo, doc said arm need to rest..going to look for shoulder brace, I supports shoulder and makes arm immobile..now if I can find it.
No Susan, I only remember Laura, she went by lauradownunder and she did a sway, I received T-shirt’s and then she sent me a beautiful book on growing roses.
You are 2nd on bottom.might get my brush and white out and touch more names and mileage. You have no idea how many walking the garden stand and read the post..looks so pretty once the garden all around them are in bloom.
Hoe their is early news in barrie to hear what went on last night..yes a lot of suicides and domestic abuse..can’t get my head around it all.
The woman from France was Ellen I believe. I helped coordinate one of the block exchanges with her, gathered all of hers and mailed at once. Got of all of the ones she made and sent out to all you with my blocks. I remember our group was very generous with helping with the postage.
If I was still on the same computer I had back then, I could look her up. I had a word program that I kept all the names, "handles" and addresses in. When I would do a new swap, I would copy a new document and put down their color preferences so I would have it all together.
Pat, YES it was Ellen. I had all addresses written down but don't think I had hers. I remember you mailing to her for us Pat. Still have the addys, somewhere, down there. Wondering if I'll ever get to sew again. Guess I'll not fret about what I can't change.
Must have been on another thread, cannot recall her.
Played around with stained glass piece this morning, vacuumed, washed floors and dusted, will have lunch then outside for a bit.
Yesterday just being out for awhile my son allergy got bad on hands so I will put gloves on today and long sleeves.
No news of what is going on in town with the shooting, hard to get news when all are confined.
Going to have a bot then head out, would like to get front yard cleaned up this afternoon, taking most out f the one garden near house, clean it up and plant hostas
Won’t overdo
Did just over an hour and I’m itching like crazy, it’s so beautiful out there..shoulder is saying to quit,...surprise surprise you need both hands to work the loppers..likely 4 more wheel barrels might do the trick.
My DH friends are always in my thought..was rearranging back deck a tad and I dusted off a birdhouse that Liz sent me, then looked for doorstop so I can leave door open a bit, Ziggy has me up and down like a toilet seat, wants in and no sooner in wants out ... there I found from a rock sway a rock painted like a house with boulders on a piece of shale, so pretty..sure wish I kept note of who I got things from..I brought in Elvis that Jaye sent me, a wind chime that the yard guy set aside when he cut a few limbs..that is my finds just in the past hour.
I usually drive to the mail box, one street away, before I get too comfy on the couch thInk I will walk over
Love the photos of your yard, Betty. And the post with everyone's distance is such a neat idea!! Love it!!
Yard isn’t nice yet but these sunshine days then rain on weekend is sure to help
Cute fabric for masks.
Morning all, been up since 5a.m. Will be a gorgeous day as will tomorrow then 5 days of rain.
Just this past week I’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth, soon leaves on the trees will be open,,missing a lot of my branches but 2 outdoorsmen trout they should be cut..big sigh.
Haven’t check what is on my today’s ‘to do’ list, am sure I’ve scheduled,a,few things..one must is call the pain clinic to see if my Monday appointment has to be changed..Linda put it as a reminder on her cel just incase I would forget.
It’s the start of USA long weekend..are any of you doing something special, is family gatherings now ok? Do you wear mask when, out and about?
My visitors will come early today, John will bring Pettie for then mom is coming up to have Bella groomed... her. area has high virus numbers..do I tell her she cannot stay or to spend a night or 2?
Last night I was talking Bonnie across the street, she had it and was extremely ill, her husband Corey who is an ambulance driver had to stay home for 2 week of quarantine and be tested before he returned to work.
Well Coffee break is over, was outside for a bit, still damp and cool so no grass cutting till this afternoon. Put the batteries of the trimmer on for charging yesterday, now to check the spool for cording.
Jaye I believe sent me Elvis years ago in a garden exchange, lordy I enjoyed getting my swap boxes..he needs a tad of touch up so maybe I can touch it up and cut a few masks
We are allowed to visit family and friends, but no more than a group of 10. Masks are not mandatory but highly recommended. Yes, I wear my mask when out in public, like grocery stores.
I was at Walmart a few days ago. Waiting my turn to buy some lemons. The lady in front of me was licking her fingers, before picking each one up and checking them out. Then putting them back on the stand. I was about to tell her she was contaminating all of the lemons, when the store manager and security grabbed her, and told her she was under arrest. Police showed up just a few minutes later. Boy was she upset. People do some nasty things these days.
Well with seven of us here, Amelia and Lorelei and Sammi's friend Savannah. we are all ready at so-called capacity. But granddaughter & family are coming for the week-end. Means Sweet Caroline, Jojo and Becca will be here. I'm beyond excited, haven't seen them since Christmas. Amanda will also restock us with Jiffy Mix, Honey and homemade syrup. They live in a very low risk area and we are in one too so not worried.
Oh Linda that is nasty. Was shopping at Belk's yesterday and found two shirts that had blood stains on them. YUK, took them to a clerk.
God, wouldn’t take much to spread it around again..stupid people.
I knew John was bringing Pettie to get his grooming, Wanneta would pick him up, I have a vine that is so beautiful on one side of the back porch, base of it must have been 8” I wanted it gone as it’s going under the roof section, thought I’d do a bit with loopers, who comes early both John and Wanneta, John took over but I got the what for for using my arm..Darlene is coming back with John to pick up Pettie, am sure John will have told her.
Mom is suppose to be here by 11:so Bella can get groomed..Wanneta busy today on her day off..she works at Foodland, long hours..
Going to get a pop and maybe cut grass, sitting on lawnmower should be ok 🤫
Many stores REQUIRE their employees to wear faces, some companies require masks to do business with them. I do wear my masks out of my home. Many people don't and that is selfish in my opinion. The mask do more for protecting OTHERS than it does yourself. It seems a little thing to ask of all us to avoid further spread.
We are still working from home & no one of our community allowed into our building.
My granddaughter Kiki will have a yard sale my driveway this Saturday. Anyone who comes without a mask will be turned away. Gloves are option but Kiki will be wearing them and have gloves available to buy.
WOW, the lady was intentionally spreading germs!! What a JERK (or any one of other stronger words! LOL)
Linda Kay - obviously that woman was no lady, intentionally going against what the law & health departments were mandating - flying in the face of decency, too. I suppose you bought lemons elsewhere, or the store disinfected them?
I had to pull out my Round Robin lap quilt to check - Elen (one "l") from France contributed a block in 2009 - wow, 10 years ago....... how time flies! How long have we been together? Was I in Winnipeg, or Calgary? We moved to Calgary in 2006. I'm thinking Calgary. Betty - you'll know, from your sign posts.
We're supposed to have light rain all day today. Hope the garden dries up enough tomorrow to put the rest of my seedlings out - tomatoes, green peppers & cucumbers. Planted my gloriosa lilies the other day & they seem to be doing well. No danger of frost anymore. Sunshine tomorrow, the Weather Liars say...... we'll see 🤞
Another stupendous day here. We've been waiting for this all winter. Tomorrow is a repeat. Whooo hoo!!
Karen I am excited for you. I know how much you treasure your family.
Lucked out and was able to get all the bedding plants (flowers) here in the village. Kieran is coming tomorrow as I need some dirt moved. He has a good eye for a 15 year old on how the flowers will display well. The very best thing about getting the flowers is I was able to get a huge plant of yellow begonias...... Warren's favourite.
There is some controversy about the closures and virus in the Kingston area - includes my township. We really (fingers crossed) haven't experienced the pandemic so the local governments here want to open things up. When I went to the hardware store to get some plants only the cashier wore a hard mask and she floated freely amongst the customers.
Pat I hope your yard sale goes well.
Betty I am going to put my 2 cents in here about your mom. You have some health issues going on and your mom is coming from Toronto ...... I would say no. She'll get over it if she gets into a snit. You need to take care of you.
I read an interesting article about cicadas. They can live under the ground for as much as 15 - 17 years. They are not dormant either. They burrow around checking out things. Apparently Virginia, West Virginia and another state are expected to have thousands of the bugs come to the surface. Can you imagine the sound ?? It was a scientific magazine so I tend to believe it. Just the thought of thousands of cicadas emerging boggles my mind.
You've been busy Susan. Good for you.
Deb I hope your job search goes well. I took my pension at 60 rather than wait until I was 65. Here it doesn't have much of an affect on the amount you get at 65.
Like Betty I am very thankful for our health/medical system. We can thank Tommy Douglas for that. People here thought he was a radical politician but his pressure helped get the health system we have now.
Do I nap or do I not ?? My back is telling me to lay down for a bit but I still have some chores left on my list.
Stay safe and well.
Pat, all the lemons in the bin, were immediately put in a shopping cart and hauled off to the dumpster. I had to go to another store for lemons.
