Yes, Betty - I remember those "days of the week" panties, and also tea-towels.
I have some embroidery patterns for the tea towels. One of these days I'd like to do them. I remember embroidering aprons & pillow cases, too.
It's nice & sunny & warm today, without the WIND we had yesterday, so Bob & I have been out in the yard - not staining the trellis planters, Bob wants to paint them with a paint gun, but it was gunked up - he's cleaned it , now for me to add paint & spray.....
Best/Worse/What did I did I learn today?Chat with friends old and new..
Morning all, very foggy here, suppose to be sun and cloudy today so it likely will be an outside day.hoping grass dries up as I would like to get the rider up and going and cut grass..next 4 days is rain.
Been to post office to check box, had hoped fabric Linda sent would be here by now but wasn’t there not was the elastic.. off to finish last steps of Darlene’s placemats the do my haIr, have to try and look human as I think Doctor May drop in today to give me my shots.
Susan I used to use one of those guns, didn’t have much luck with it, had small compressor and used to paint ceramic pieces that I was good at lol
Best I get up and at it before I get too comfy on couch..
What will your day be like?
Good morning. I have been up for hours. Having trouble sleeping.
In the middle of the night I ate 2 ice cream bars.. I never do something like that but it sure tasted good.
Don't know how long I will work outside as the black flies have arrived. I really get a reaction to them and deer flies.
I was talking to a couple of places that sell bedding plants. I was told both places only have what they will offer all season right now. The suppliers in most cases did not follow their continuous planting once the pandemic was declared. Going to be pretty grim in people's gardens. I wish now I had started some seeds.
Hope everyone has a great weekend..
I was concerned that we wouldn't get much offered in flowers this year. I have driven by Home Depot, for now they seem to have a good choice, but it could be "all they have for the season" like you said.
Stanley and I are getting to know each other. Learning about each other and the "rules". He is a nipper, and very demanding for attention. Learning what he wants and how to avoid getting nipped is a challenge. He's doing pretty good, I keep a close eye on his reactions and scold him as soon as he "thinks" about nipping.
It will be interesting to see how quickly Stanley acclimates. At least this morning he was waiting for me at the bedroom door, not hiding like most of yesterday. He will come out from hiding when I call for him, but I feel so bad for him. It appears he has used the litter box, I'm grateful for that!
Dianne, I also thought I should have purchased seed packets..haven’t been to Home Depot to see what they have, maybe at months end because it’s still quite cool here.
Pat, Ziggy swipes at me as well, hard to get them out of the habit, although when I see him about to my saying no in a loud voice seems to help stop him..poor Stanley, not sure he knows where he is, confusing for him..great he is using litter box though.
Is he a large size coon?
Was a glorious day..Darlene and John were over and spent good part of the day doing some repairs..John bought spindles and installed them in hopes that would deter racoons and cats..I hope..Darlene worked on screening the back deck door..so thankful for them.
No sign of my doctor yet, he has been known to come late or perhaps it will be another day.,not going anywhere anyways.
Rogers was down again, they just rebooted and I’m up and running..thInk they should give me a discount for this month seeing I’ve called almost every day.
Battery for my riding lawnmower is charging, too bad I didn’t thing of charging it before, I could have been out cutting..oh well maybe a nap is in order

It is going to be in mid 90s here today but not a whisper of a breeze. Ninety is not bad in the shade ut brutal in the open with no clouds.
Betty, I have to keep the soil in my garden cool so I spend a lot of money on mulch. And I have placed beds so they are in muted shade of trees. With the mulch I also save on water.
My sister is doing OK. Right now she has a granddaughter, granddaughter's mother and mother's boyfriend living with her because of the virus and loss of employment. Her husband died one month after Vern but was unexpected so she has had a harder time. The mother of the granddaughter is a really good cook and the boyfriend is very handy about fixing things so thy have been very useful.
Pat, Stanley will adjust and be your best buddy.
Las Vegas has been whacked. Just about every business in town fed into another business. Hotels and conventions purchased everything and everyone else supplied it. The minute they shut down the town I knew it was going to be bad but now they are eliminating a lot of upper management jobs and those individuals also employ many people in their homes (estates) and that will trickle down.
I understand that big companies in San Francisco are discovering they can function with employees working at home and do not need the high priced office space. That is going to whack the commercial real estate in California. The employees can even live in another state and work for the company in California. That will enable their employees to find affordable housing and apartments.
I am late taking the dogs for their walk and they are letting me know it.
Diane, we do not have black flies. And, one night when Vern was alive, I got up and ate about 1/2 of a quart of strawberry ice cream. Only ice cream I like and I usually controlled myself but in the middle of the night you can do some strange things. I intentionally do not purchase anything I cannot control myself with.
A cloud actually moved in. Might be a good time to take off on our walk. Talk at you soon.
Sharon, it’s wonderful that your sister has both company and a handyman..I found right after Roger died there seemed to be so much upkeep to be done, things we said could wait til spring etc.
I need about 10 bags of black mulch..maybe Greg can pick some up..it’s the waiting in line ups to get anything. You sure must have your gardening down pat because whatever you are doing it’s the right thing because you gardens are breathtaking.
They were saying with Covid many of our nurseries didn’t plant or didn’t bring in much so not many hanging baskets..usually on this long weekend there are plants galore advertised, not so much this year.
Absolutely can’t imagine Las Vegas with lights off and no crowds..yes, I imagine many companies will find working from home lessens cost but so many can’t work from home, too easily distracted.
Pat, what size of benches are you making?
I had a feeder that I gad made, roof was made to accommodate soil, chicken wire on top for planting succulents..bottom part fine top rotten, thought maybe I’d use some of the old wood Joanne gave me and make an ordinary roof or just might try to reconstruct one the same..something I could do on the next few rain days
Saw my 1st hummer..drats went to clean the glass one that hangs at front window and cracked it..big sigh
Pat - you're making garden (or park) benches? We're looking for one - hoping to find a used one that needs a little TLC. We got one years ago, and it needed new slats so we rebuilt it & stained it - looks lovely at the back of our yard. Now...... for the ferns to grow up around it!
So sad to see so many businesses closed. Don't know if they will ever open.
This has been so hard on everyone, businesses fail and the hurt trickles down.
One year we camped all the way around Lake Superior for our vacation. We crossed at the Soo and went west. As soon as we were in a rather remote area, I got sick and had a raging fever. Hubby had decided as soon as we hit Thunder Bay he was taking me to the hospital. Of course about that time I got well. Strange thing was everyone was pestered by Black Flies and not a single one bit me. I think they didn't like my heat. Must be why we don't see them down here.
My SisIL Sharon, & I were working on a beautiful lattice work headboard and turning it into a bench seat for my patio. We did not quite finish. I didn't have enough really LONG screws for the final step of the assembly. It's 60 long, only 16 inch seat and 20 inch tall at seat level. We raised the headboard to put the back up high enough to help camouflage the heat pump equipment that will be behind it. I hope we can get it finished tomorrow and maybe even one coat of paint.
Then... on to the next "bench". It will look like a bench put instead of a seat, it will have a deep box to put flower pots in. My SIL in Yakima really wanted one & I had an extra head board.
SOMEHOW I collected SEVERAL sets of headboards and decided I did not need them all. I didn't want more than one big bench on my patio. I sent 2 mission style headboards and one headboard'/footboard set home with SIL for HER to work on!!!
I need to make a trip to Home Depot tomorrow. Wish me luck, I don't do well in long lines!
Morning all, will be overcast most of the day so I just might get the grass cut..usually give neighbors til 10 Sunday’s so I don’t wake them up.
Karen, you have been dealing with health issues for quite while..they do not like my blood as well, the same is there was a flea nearby, they would attack Roger and Greg big time and yet Jeff and I were ok.
Pat your projects sound awesome, sure hope photos will be included. I’ve got a few scraps laying around but don’t have enough to replace the live roof of one of the feeders..could Mickey Mouse it though lol
LIndakay, I had several 1/2 to 3/4 balls of wool left from all the twisted scarves I made at Christmas..thought for something to knit I could knit to end of ball with each then place an order when wool store opens, she could order the colour of wool I needed to finish but I’ve a feeling seeing she opened in the fall she may not be able to reopen..to add more damage the bottom of Midland Main Street is all dug out, redoing town core so 2 strikes against her.
Jeff went golfing with his friend yesterday lol..said you had to pay prior to going GeForce grounds and cart..1 cart per person , if you were playing with someone they had to get their own cart, the gold socializing area not open..he was hankering to get golfing. His next adventure will be kayaking for a week or so, you don’t meet many people, you are really quarantined.
Last night I had just fallen asleep when I heard and saw the fireworks across the street..a tradition on this long weekend that some made sure would still occur.
Found an old glass globe, you can tell I’m bored, spending time gluing alleys to it 😜
Guess if I put a warm cost on and wear gloves I could accomplish a little outside, Doctor didn’t come yesterday, highly unlikely but I’ll make sure to take phone outside with me just incase.
Enjoy your day and be safe
And here I thought you meant friend, when you meant FRIEND! LOL... at least he didn't have to pay for 2 carts!
NO line at Home Depot and I got the carriage bolts & other assorted stuff bought. I did not get the paint I needed, that section was closed off. Oh well... I have white primer I could start with that.
Pat - what a wonderful use of old headboards! I know we have a heavy wooden mantle top & a headboard in our shed - not weather-proof though? Do you intend to do anything other than paint them? What are you using for legs (all 4, or only front ones needed because the headboard would go to the ground)?
We got a FREE park bench - I posted on Mtn View Free Stuff FB site yesterday, and got an answer right back. Picked it up 1 hour away. HEAVY cast iron, and only the slats need replacing. Got 3 of 8ft boards, cut in half, and that gives us the 6 we need to replace the boards. and of course when we disassemble it we will paint the cast iron black. Right now it's rusted. Here's the "before" pic
Susan,What a beautiful piece,I loved rusted art so i only be replacing the wood.amazing what you can get online.
Pat, glad there were no line ups, did you look at the gardening section?
Ziggy went missing last night, before heading for bed I decided to go out in rain and look for him, opened door and there was Ziggy,..guess he came home for fireworks and fireworks last night and again tonight..Great view from bedroom and living room windows, should have gone outside for better photo’s

Morning all, Rained all night and more to come..
Was thinking of going out and rake some of the winter earth mound the Snowplow left while it’s wet but then I wonder about my shoulders..guess it doesn’t matter, they hurt doing nothing then hurt if I do something.
I’ve been up since 6:00am, housework done, knit for while and still a long day to get through. Found a gourd that is drilled for birdhouse, maybe i could sit and paint it??
What can you suggest?
What did you all get into yesterday and what are your today plans?
Don’t know about any of you but just can’t seem to settle in
Good morning. I have been to Walmart for shopping. Dropped off my quilt top to the quilter. Getting ready to go out to lunch with a friend.
Betty, there are so many scenes I have seen on gourd birdhouses. Maybe some pretty vines, like a morning glory. Maybe a bird or two.
Enjoy your lunch with your friend LIndakay, I look forward to when I can do same, likely not for several weeks yet and I won’t be the first out there socializing though.
Can’t wait to see your quilt done..does the quilter pick the design? Will it be an allover quilt pattern do you think or will the dresdens be quilted in a Dresden outline?
I originally had all the cushions out, umbrellas open..thought that even though it rains they will be covered, omg winds so high that I actually went out, put cushions away, tied umbrellas closed, unplugged water feature Nd now laying on the couch but not without a project on coffee table, I also have one of 2 directional arrows to paint, one for Pat the other for Deb..think that is all that I’m missing in my direction friendship post.
That ought to fill in today

I am just heading out to my garden. Our high will be in low 80s and that is perfect gardening weather. I have to walk the dogs first.
I am going to work on an area that dries me nuts. I will take before and after photos.
Vegas is slowly opening up.
Linda, it is great you get to have lunch with a friend. Unfortunately, all of my best friends have died. I always ran around with older women.
Betty, my cat that does that to me every once in a while. If she comes in the house after 5:30pm, I close all of the doors and trap her inside.
Yes, I do have my doors wide open just about every day. I have the AC units off and house does not get much above 80. Protected by large trees around the property and mega mega insulation and insulating windows. Later in July and August I have to give in and turn it on.
I love the used headboards as benches. We used to have a thread on here called "Trash to Treasure". I have many trash to treasure items around the landscape.
Pat, how is the new boy doing?
I have an orange dragon fly and a blue damsel flying around my Koi pond.
I will return later.
It was a nice time. A little Mexican diner. The food was awesome.
Sharon, sure wish you had been into Vegas and could have showed us photo’s of what it looked like..imagine Grand Canyon was closed?
What I love most about visiting my online friends is when they talk about what they are doing I can totally imagine them in that area..love listening to where you are work8mg as I can just see you there.
Today I was thinking I should get a few fish for the pond then told myself not to go there..survival rate during winter months wouldn’t be good.
I was just thinking the same Sharon, I’m going to clean the mess I’ve made on the coffee table and get comfy in bed, usually when zIggy knows I’m closing down for the night it’s almost like he says, just one more outing please but NOT going to happen. Didn’t realize your furry was an outdoor cat as well.
at least 3 times I soaked my chip in paint Instead of dip this afternoon, I’d have a sore tummy had I not realized it..need some bright colours to finish Pat’s sign but I think that is it for today, will continue to finish the last of them tomorrow..might even take down the old ones and touch them up..so sad, when I’m out there and I look at them I realize that many have passed on.
Pat, you are 2,280.8 miles from me lol
No diners open here & don't know how long before they will... they will never be the same, that is for sure.
Stanley is settling in, learning the rules. I had a heck of time logging into the computer this morning, he was trying to help me! I am taking the rest of day off work.
That Bench is AWESOME!! GREAT find!
I was not up to going into the garden area, I was too pressed for time and it meant going BACK out of the building and then into exterior display, then back in to pay etc. Was hurting too much and didn't have time anyhow.
Pat, very cool that Stanley wants to be right by you. He has bonded already.
Betty am I on your sign post? I've moved a few times since we've been friends. Might be too hard to keep up with.
Getting a ton of rain. Now let's see if the last basement repair will do the job. Not putting new carpet in yet. Think I'm a sceptic?
Beautiful gourd Betty.
Karen, good luck on your basement.
So far so good, it's dry. We are supposed to have a few days of rain so this will be a good test.
Overcast but a promising week ahead.
Usually recycle is here Tuesday’s right at 7, something must have delayed them, see I could have slept in lol
Karen, do you mean septic like I’ll, isn’t that something you should be heading to the hospital with?? Omg just went back and read lol no illness thank God..Karen I believe you are on the mileage marker..might have to change mileage though...just might have to add another post 🥰
Pat so pleased to hear Stanley is settling him, for him to want to help you with your work shows he has taken to you. Shopping is no fun right now..
I almost took a run to Foodland this morning but I do think I can make due till Friday.
Go8ng to clean my refrigerator, I cook a lot but don’t eat a lot, this alternate week garbage/recycle weeks I don’t like so will bag scraps and freeze that way no smell..
Playing with a gourd, will finish it and grout the glass ball, nothing too interesting today.
What do you have planned?
Love the gourd, Betty!! That is so pretty!
Not much going on here today, just rain, rain, rain. I heard that this is the wettest May ever for this area. I believe it! My back yard is still flooded, and it's still raining.
Tomorrow is my meeting with the guy who's supposed to update my resume, and help with whatever else is needed in finding a new job. I hope he's good!! I want to put off Social Security as long as possible, and if I can find a job with insurance, maybe I can put of Medicare for a while, too. As much as I enjoy being home, I need a job so I can afford to continue to show my dogs!
Was going to sand down the gourd but decided if finish it and handing it..what to heck, birds aren’t fussy!
Got Pat’s directional marker done, after a few more coats of varnish it can go on post, some are bad shape, Lindakay yours is really bad, I’ll retouch when I do Deb’s
Deb, hope all goes well with your resume and a job is near..I can’t for the life of me can figure out your insurance system..so appreciate having one free provider.a
Lunch time
Have ribs out for supper
