Betty, her turn around time for quilts is 3 to 4 days. Not bad. I told her no hurry.

Pat, that cat sounds so pretty.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I love that door, too - always wanted one just like that.

Baby steps - still working on the weed patch around the veggie garden - 3ft wide by about 20ft long........ and today I found a huge root, about the size of a small tree. Lots of root system on it. I still have 2/3 of the length of the weed patch to dig up. Tomorrow's another day lol At least I'm getting some exercise. 👌

Happy mother's day ladies.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Mother’s Day everyone..those with children and furries...

Looks like a sunshine day here, cool but better than snow and rain...can you believe we just had snow and they are saying maybe in the mid sixties coming up. Couldn’t sleep last night, it was so bright in my bedroom..moon was beyond bright.

Pat, I think having a cat would be good for you, if like Ziggy you will get plenty of loving, but if he is an outdoor cat you will likely have a rough time with him wanting out. Are you in a suburban area? After he adjusts a bit you to his new home you might find you will have to let him out a bit..Ziggy is part main coon..right now he wants out, wants in..although it’s nice out right now he decided he’d rather be laying next to me.. that door is off the back deck enclosure, offers nice view when gardens are in bloom.

Right now I have the glass pieces in the oven trying from the garden glass slab my yard maintenance hit with leaf blower..hoping I can at least salvage the dragonflies.

Greg will drop over at some point today and put up the bird feeder. He and Mel dropped off a little succulent, lady up the street was selling them for Mother’s Day..I already had my gift from the boys, the pond pump but Mel thought these were cute so I was gifted one.

Got a lot accomplished yesterday, made cushions and a pillow for back glider, would love to set all the cushions to patio sets but with rain being called for most of next week I’ll pass.

Did embroidered masks yesterday from new designs, mustache turned out ok, kiss mask, missed putting a smile background in fabric, I’ll wear it but doing another for Melanie, hoping to give it to Greg when he comes, she may come over as well..few things I would like done are outside projects so distancing not a problem.

Told Jeff not to come, my Mothers Day list will have to wait till Covid is under control.

That will be my day, what is in your plans today.

Whatever it is I am hoping it’s truly a sunshine day..

Good morning ! Sunny off and on today but still cold out there.

Oh Pat, Maine Coon cats are wonderful companions. I have a friend who has 3. They need lots of brushing. Can't wait to see a photo of him.. I love the name.

Didn't fall asleep until about 5 am. I was just getting ready to get up and start my day but had this wave of I could sleep come over me.

Betty does Ziggy come in with ticks on him ? The TH have lots for me to pull off almost every day. Chaos has 1 over his eye and won't let me near it. I'll have to wait for someone to come visit or just let it take it's natural course and fall off. Something happened to him at the vet's off a couple of years ago and now he gets snarly when you try to do anything to him.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone.

Stay safe and well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am sorry to hear that Chaos is not happy to be handled. That does make controlling the ticks issues harder!

Happy Mother's day!! I have heard from 2 of 4 boys so far today. My DDIL ordered me 2 of the next 4 books in the series I am reading. Kevin is going to cook me shrimp scampi later this week, he is at girlfriends for the weekend.

I went a "little crazy" in the last 24 hours and ordered a couple of toys, a scratching post condo, some grooming products. I intended to order the kitty box & litter but the ship date would not get it here in time. I'll have to buy that local.

I am going to get some of the cat food that they have been giving Stanley and gradually switch him over to a higher quality feed. Dy does not have any particular feed she gives to the outside cats. I want him on a consistent high quality food.

I saw a sliding glass door pet door insert for sale on Craigslist. I am very tempted but my youngest still has my pick up and it won't fit in my car... not sure I would LIKE it in my sliding door.... I do think it's worth the $20 risk.

I am grateful that it is not likely a cat will pick up ticks here where I live. I am not crazy about him being an indoor/outdoor kitty but I'm going to let him choose. I've had all 3 options in the past. Strictly outdoor, strictly indoor & In/out. I will have to adjust my expectations to his. I don't want him to be indoors only and miserable.

Ok, work to do to prepare for for my kitty!! I need to get that sewing area cleaned up and lids on everything etc. Kevin's going to have to get his expensive "toys" from off the top of the bookcases so Stanley does not going "bowling" with them. I'll stop by and see Stanley when I get out and about today. I am trying to get my camera up and working with this computer.

Again, Happy Mother's Day ladies!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Mother's Day, ladies!
Yesterday I did some more digging in the garden. Today I took a Happy Birthday letter to a friend, Pat. She was happy to see me, and gave me a pretty pair of gardening gloves. Some charity sent them in their mass mailing - roses all over them 😊
Sun's peeking out from behind clouds. Maybe it will be nice enough to go out to the garden. It was spitting outside, so don't know how dry the garden soil is.
BBQ steak for dinner, with corn on the cob & yams 👍

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all , overcast here but not as cold as it has been so I will take it.high of 41 today but calling for flurries tomorrow..shaking my head..

Pat sounds like that kittie has found his permanent home lol lucky him
Your boys were creative with your mother’s day gifts.

Dianne, are you having this dreadful weather as well? I haven’t found any ticks on Ziggy, do you think it’s more regional? Sandman has forgotten my address as well..hoping to have my prescription renewed today for sleeping pills..you don’t realize how well they work.furries don’t forget do they if they’ve been mistreated. This is Victoria Day weekend, do you think your cottages will be back.

Susan, that was very caring of your daughter to call and transfer..i envy you the gardening..I will try to go out and work in the gardens for an hour or so.

Deb, how is the vehicle situation, has it been repaired or are you still down to one vehicle?

Debbie, am hoping today is a good day for you, will take you awhile to adjust..quite the shock for sure.

Karen, are you back to sewing now that the work has been done or are you wait8ng till the carpet blocks have been installed.

LIndakay, is hubby still working? SHARON said their temps is near 100 but she is still working in her gardens..is your temperature as high? I hear on the news that much of Texas is reopen re

I was doing groceries just after 7this morning, was the only person shopping, was quick, not a wonder as a lot of the items were sold out. Think a few things are slowly opening, I’ll be one that takes it slowly..wouldn’t mind if June and Pat came Tuesday mornings to sew as I miss them.

I called mom early in the morning, she said she had been to the grocery store, a young man was coming out with 2 beautiful bouquets of flowers, she saId someone will be thrilled to get them, he asked her was she not getting flowers, she said no her children lived out of the city, he handed her a bouquet and wished her happy mother’s day then went back to grocery store to get himself another bouquet..the kindness in people is coming to the fire fore front during these trying times.

Greg and Mel dropped berry scones off and Greg came over to put my birdhouse up so that was nice.might try to make some today..

By 7pm I couldn’t figure out why Jeff hadn’t called yet, know they did the pond pump for me for Mother’s Day but still unusual his not calling then I got a messenger message asking why I wasn’t answering my phone..we checked, although I had dial tone I couldn’t call out nor could anyone call in, tv service was off as well..we chatted via messenger Skype then I called Rogers, they got me up and running again and someone will be here again between 2-4. Let’s hope this is it, annoying it is..

Darlene, who has taken me under her wing seeing she lost her mom called to say she and John would come today and frame in that little area the cats-racoons have been entering with a wired mesh of sorts..very kind of them...so between my doctor calling between 12-1pm, Roger and Darlene and John the day will go quickly..all social distancing..Rogers will tell me how to connect the new unit, shouldn’t be difficult.

Yesterday I made a few more moustache and kiss masks, managed to get some of the glass off the broken garden piece I had outside that my guy blowing leaves stepped on by accident..found a frame under the deck and managed to recycle.

Ziggy must be tired of social distancing.,he is not a cat that gets along with others but lately there has been cats galore at the door.

Called Greg and told him I would make chicken and sliders for supper..going through the slider process one might as well make a big pot so he will pick up his portion on the way home from work.

As my last weeks to do list was accomplished I’m going to work on Darlene’s placemats and penguin flannel throw..not too fussy on the amount of work that is going into that throw, Sharon almost has her top done so I best continue so I can catch up.

That will be my day, how is yours going.

Well Damn....bad start to today. Bad leg cramps woke me up again. I tried to walk them out and took a bad fall. Really conked my head. Was on the floor for an hour because we just couldn't get me up. I don't have the strength and the cramp kept returning. Guess this day can only get better.
I'm still waiting for the carpet...well the money for the carpet. We don't want to move everything twice. Pretty down in the dumps.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you fell Karen. Do you need to go to the Dr.?

Betty, yes, hubby is back to work. The storm we had a few weeks ago, damaged a lot of the aircraft, so they are working 10 hours shifts trying to get them repaired.

It has been in the mid 80's here. Not too bad.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am getting on here early because my housekeeper is here and I have nothing to do. Usually I do not get on my laptop until 5pm and I do check in every day but do not have much to say.

Vern's anniversary of his death is the end of this month. Time does fly. I am getting adjusted to living by myself and I think I finally have shopping for food for one person under control.

Since the virus, my daughter has been going grocery shopping for me. Only place I have been is plant shopping and not much of that. I spent several months getting the garden back into shape and tried to redo beds to make them less management.

My hair is long and my white hair is showing at the roots, but I do not go anywhere, so no big deal. My hair appointment is on June 17th.

Las Vegas is gradually opening but the economic toll the closing has done will take years to over come. I am waiting to see what businesses reopen and which ones fail.
My daughter bakes and ran out of yeast. Took her forever to find any yeast. She finally ordered it through the internet and it too over a month to get it.

I do not have a thermometer.

Betty I saw the weather report that showed your area was going to have an Arctic Swirl and our area was going to be extra hot. I immediately thought of you and your gardening. My spring flowers are spent and have been pulled and replanted with summer flowers. My tomatoes are setting on but my oranges have not bloomed.

I was looking to move into something smaller but did some searching on line and could not find anything close to what I wanted. So I have decided to stay here until I am 81, which will be 3 years in August. Or, if I cannot keep up with the garden, i will move sooner. I own a smaller home in a over 55 community but the people over there are too old. And the house is only 1500 sq. ft. with 2 bedrooms.

My sister's husband died a month after Vern died. She now has a granddaughter, granddaughter's mother and mother's boyfriend living with her because of the virus. They all lost their jobs and migrated toward my sister. The granddaughter showed up sick and come to find out she had the virus and gave it to her mother and my sister. Thank goodness they all had a mild case. High fever and bad cough and granddaughter broke out in hives.

I am now a great grandmother. Sarah, 2nd granddaughter had a baby girl in March. They live in St Louis, Missouri. Her husband is going to medical school and she works for Adobe. She gets 6 months paid maternity leave. He is at home going to medical school on line, l except one day a week when they do labs. So this baby is going to be so spoiled seeing mommy and daddy everyday.

Pat I am sorry for the loss of your husband.. You had the same situation I had and I know how hard it was. I have lost 20 pounds since Vern died because I do not eat much. I buy food to cook but then do not get around to cooking it. I have found if I want something for dinner I must cook it in the morning. At night, I just decide to have a cucumber or a piece of cheese and some fruit.

Karen, I am so sorry about your fall. I did that a few months back because my foot was asleep and I decided I could walk anyway. Wrong. Thank goodness I was close to a chair and grabbed onto the chair and softened my fall. My kids got me an i watch just for that problem. It asks me right away if I have fallen and then asks if I m OK. I make sure I answer right away because if I do not, they get an alert and over they come.

Susan, I spend more time than I care to removing roots from my garden beds and other areas. The roots will even find their way into a pot through the hole in the bottom and strangle and drain all of the water.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I sent that because I did not want to lose it.

Linda, Texas has had some brutal weather. I am so pleased your husband has been able to return to work. Your area leaders appear to have their act together.

Debbie, I am so sorry you have lost your employment. It is going to be a tough job market. But you just need to reinvent yourself. Individuals from our era are really good workers and can work work the younger ones under the table. Vern's caregiver was a really good cook and worked in the hotel kitchens for years but just could not take the stress and being on her feet all of the time so she took a short course and became certified as a caregiver. She did a wonderful job and was such a great help. The younger one, that was here when she was not, was worthless.

Deb, you are very rough on cars. But I truly enjoy your photos on Facebook. How have you been feeling.

I do check in everyday because I am concerned about Betty. She doesn't know when to quit. Neither do I but I do not have to deal with the pain she has. It is amazing how talented your are Betty with so many skills. And your cat and my Peanut chould just about be twins. Cats are a joy and a great companion.

Dianne, I have no idea how you walk those three large dogs. I struggle with my two small schnauzers. And thank the Lord we do not have mosquitoes in Nevada. Only if someone lets their pool go bad. To dry here for them, ticks, and fleas. But you can get ticks here when someone brings back a deer skin after hu ting and lets it lie outside. And Las Vegas is surrounded by mountains that have ticks.

I know this is long but I tried to catch up after a year.

Hugs to you all.

Karen, so sorry to hear about your fall. Get well soon. I understand not wanting to move all that stuff twice!

Sharon, My goodness, are THOSE current pictures of your gardens?? They are STUNNING!!!

It was 87 here yesterday, more overcast today.

I need to head into town, coworker needed 5 more masks and I'm not due into the office until Wednesday. I'll drop them off on her desk tonight, while the office is closed.

I'll drop off pattern, elastic & other supplies for another person who wants to make some masks. I had intended to mail it out with some things but after printing the business material, forgot to throw in the personal stuff. Darn it!

I took a hour of PTO at lunch today and worked a little on the sewing area. Hired my neighbor boy to assemble another rack for me. I pray I can have all this sorting and boxing, moving of stuff done before Saturday when Stanley gets to come! I just don't know if he'll be a climber and I can't take the chance on it. I hope his tower/condo comes soon! Meanwhile, I'll put a nice cushion on the top shelf of the stepladder and secure it well. That will give him somewhere to relax & look out the window. Hopefully that will keep him out of trouble for bit!

Be well, be safe everybody!

Verona, ON

Good morning !! Heading into Kingston to the accountant. I was missing an important piece of paper. I called the company for a copy and yesterday I received it. In the mean time I found the hard copy. It was mixed in with the mail I collect all winter for a neighbour.

OUCH Karen. How are you doing today ?

Sharon the year goes by fast doesn't it ? I still have trouble shopping for one and like you by time it is for dinner I don't feel hungry or don't want to bother making anything. Happy to hear you have been out in your gardens.

Pat I am looking forward to seeing a photo of Stanley.

Need to get a move on.

Stay safe and well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So nice to hear from you Sharon. Hard to believe it has been a year.
Mothers day it was 14 years since my mom passed, and it seems like yesterday. Please take care of yourself.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

As expected, I'm much sorer today. Finding a few more areas I must have hit. I'm hoping I'll feel better tomorrow.
Oldest grandson and his family came down to surprise his mother. She hadn't seen him in almost 4 years and was of course ecstatic. The girls Amelia and Lorelei are determined to stay here with me. I'm OK with it of course but trying to get them to understand it could be at least a month before we can take them back home. They still want to stay but giving them this week to think about it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Take it easy Karen. Every time I take a spill, it takes days to realize that bruise that just popped up, must have been from that fall.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just now found a new sore spot. LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Where's Betty? Worry about that girl.....

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, be VERY aware of any cognitive differences as well. A fall can cause brain bleeding and the symptoms are not that noticeable. It is something to really keep an eye on. I would have felt better if you had seen MD!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

New sore spot is on the side of my neck.I think it's a pulled muscle. Worst sore spot is my right rear. Not my hip. It is finally allowing me to move with a small degree of ease. I never went downstairs today. Just took some Ibuprofen and ready to go to bed. it's been really helping me today.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Glad to hear the Ibuprofen has been helpful in easing your pain.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.

Betty, where are you? Everything ok?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I found the "stop bark" thing & going out to plant my front flower berm. Let's see if I can hide this thing in my pocket - our neighbours don't believe in anyone using it - thinks it's cruel to the dog.... what about my EARS, listening to a dog bark hour after hour & we can't even enjoy our own yard (unseen by the dog & sitting quietly). We moved to this end of the Park because of the barking dogs on the other end of the Park...... Let's see how this works..........

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm better today, less sore. I did get woken up by a bad cramp earlier than I wanted to get up. This one was on the front of my leg and pulled my toes up. I've never had one like that. I've tried so many cramp remedies that don't work and taken so many supplements. I really need something that does work. I feel bad that hubby wakes instantly and comes to help me. I hate disturbing his sleep.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I take potassium tablets, and they really help me.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Karen, I was told and it has worked, to turn your head back and forth. Left to right or which ever. I have to do it about 8 times and it finally lets the cramp go. I have not had it not work. Just sometimes it takes more side to side turns. When I had my back surgery I started taking Ibuprofen instead of pain pills. Worked and I gradually reduced the Ibuprofen.

Susan, hope your devise helps with the barking dog. My dogs are a nuisance and back at anyone walking past the back of the property which backs on the greenbelt. I can always tell when someone is coming up the greenbelt because you can hear the dog chorus starting and working it's way up the greenbelt. We had a legal battle a few years ago between two neighbors and 2 barking dogs. The dog owner lost but it took years and just about blows. Currently both owners have moved and that problem is gone.

I worked in the garden the majority of the day. Did dead heading on geraniums and they had bloomed their heads off and I had a bunch of deadheading. My worker was here and he did many of the heavy items that needed to be done. It was only 85 today and that was a perfect gardening day.

My hardy hibiscus and plumerias are pushing out leaves. Roses are getting ready for their second flush of blooms. Hummingbird frightened me today. I was sitting on a bench up against the house and was actually behind a Datura bush and he did not see me and just about crashed right into me. Feeder is just a few feet to the left and he was chasing another hummer.

Betty just posted on Facebook so she must be on the way here. Huhs.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Good, I was worried about Betty!

THAT was a close encounter with a hummingbird!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hummers will put on quite a show. I have watched one sit nearby just watching for an intruder then zooming out to give chase. They sometimes buzz right around us when we are sitting on the porch.
I've taken Magnesium and Potassium in increasing doses looking for relief and none to be had. I think when I go in July, I will have to insist on some help with this. This just can't go on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning everyone, going to be a rainy day here so I have to plan on some projects to keep me busy. Lord forgive me if I would just lay down and take it easy! Lol

Karen are you feeling any better today sometimes it takes time several days before the actual pain comes to the surface. Likely your main reason for being in the dump is not just a virus but your lack of being able to go and so, no your love for Sewing.

Linda Kay long days for your hubby to be working 10 hours that was some storm that blew through lucky there wasn’t more damage to your home. Is it all repaired now know you had some damage to your roof? Are you nearest town is now open for business and are you going out as you normally would?

What I wouldn’t give for a few days in the 80s this cold and rainy days an odd snowfall has caused my bones ache like crazy, fighting it but I guess I should just take more meds.

Sharon I so enjoy you dropping in and telling us about all that’s going on in your neck of the woods. Anniversary are a difficult time regardless of how many years it’s been it seems like yesterday and brings back the memories good and bad. You certainly have given your gardens lots of love through Hard labour and how you do it in the seat I’ll never know you must be totally exhausted by the time night time comes. What is the entire strip closed none of the casinos open? Hard to think of the stripping desolate no people no lights, unimaginable.

Flour and yeast and many other cooking staples are hard to fine here as well lots of shelves are bare. Guess it’s because so many are cooking first is going to restaurant for easy pick up places. I ran out of flour yesterday did a few fruit cakes and use the last bag I have so here’s hoping or maybe I shouldn’t hope that there’s flour because I’m getting as big as a house.

It’s good that you are preparing for your future your place is breath taking and garden of Eden hard to even think of leaving them but if you can manage awhile longer and keep looking something of liking will come up.

Congrats on the new baby, perhaps when the virus slows down or ends you make it a visit or I could take a trip to visit always nice when you can hold them in your arms. How is your sister managing?

That was an excellent idea for our Debbie, when the economy starts getting back to normal so many people have no qualms about spending money on their furries, maybe Debbie has enough land that she could have a kennel or like you say do some baking or sewing neck collars etc.

Just loved the photos of your garden everything looks so lush I always imagined in the heat that you get that everything would be dried out. When I think of driving all around Las Vegas and on my way to California so much was dry and yet your gardens were so green, loved it.

Pat your region is getting nice weather as well the same as Linda Kay, gives you the opportunity to get ahead of the game with a GARDENS but by the sounds of it you’re already in full season and your flowers are blooming like crazy.

Mail here is beyond snail mail it’s been two weeks LINDA sent me a package of fabric and she only lives a half an hour away, everything takes forever it’s been about five weeks or so since I ordered elastic and still no signs of it, I’ve set 12 sets of elastic side for Linda‘s masks but other than that I am out.

Diane did you have a rainy day or a sunshine day driving to Kingston, do you take the dogs with you for a drive, do they enjoy being a passenger on your trips?

Karen you must be excited to have the girls wanting to spend a few weeks with you, sure would be a full house! Sometimes when you fall it takes for ever to feel all the aches and pains, hope today is a good day for you.

It has been on here and since you mentioned your leg cramps because I’ve had some and I haven’t had any in Maggie years. When I get mine I hear myself saying oh no no no and yet I still get the cramps lol
I will try Sharon suggestion with head movement and see if that works, would be an easy enough fix if it did thanks for the suggestion Sharon.

Susan just as you were talking about dogs barking the neighbours dog started up but she soon brought them indoors.

Yesterday I was moving in slow motion and yet I accomplished much.
Because the gardeners are so far behind and that mine is more like a country garden not a manicured gardens I wanted to take the hole and work some of the ground but if I did that likely I’d be destroying a lot of upcoming growth.I had bought last fall to goats beard in pink and forgot to plant them almost threw them out a few weeks ago I see one is doing great the other don’t think it’ll make it but I won’t throw it out just in case note to figure out where to put it because they do become quite a height.

my friend Ann who travels to Ottawa River and picks driftwood called yesterday to tell me my driftwood easel was ready so picked it up..her hubby had made a chair with a birdhouse sitting on the upper corner of the back..all were sold so I asked her to put me on a list for one on 2021 season..

I walked towards the back end of the property where the mileage pieces are and saw so many of the members that we Kafter with who had passed away on there, set a little prayer on our behalf.

Today would have been Aline’s Thursday, sure do miss her, she was a good soul and a dear friend. Spoke to someone yesterday in fact that said Aline’s hubby Tom had been drinking a lot and how he’s surviving nobody knows. Gerry who lives just down the street from Tom has been going almost every day with different foods in hopes Tom will eat but he doesn’t..big sigh.

Had my coffee, not an outside day so my goal is to make Darlene’s placemats, that should be an all day project, thInk I will do one of Barb’s patterns..miss her as I know you do as well.

did get my 11 penguins done, could work on that as well but only so many hours in a day..Ziggy had me up at 5, now I’m up and he is sleeping lol

Gab later

Good morning everyone. The sun is trying to shine and it is a tad warmer. It looks like our holiday weekend will be a wash out. Since the camp grounds can't open I wonder what the campers will do instead. We have a complete fire ban here. Wonder if people who rent cottages will even be able to go.

This weekend has always been a money maker for my artisan friends. I so feel for them. For those who count on shows for money are in a real pickle. Buckhorn is this weekend and usually is a good money maker for the artisans.

Betty did you hear the CNE is cancelled this year ? Only second time and the last time was 1 year during WW 2..

Karen my mom suffered from terrible leg cramps. She took Calcium Sandoz on a daily basis and swore it helped here. Me jumping out of bed from a deep sleep screaming with a leg cramp shocked DH in the beginning. Walking it off took a good while, pulling my toes up to my leg helped. I think everyone has their own remedy.

No I don't take the TH with me when I go out in the Escape. It's the only time I get to be alone. lol They would love to come though.

I am a slug today and think I will continue to be one. Today would have been DH's 79th birthday. I might bake his favourite cookies and then take them up to Kieran or I will eat them all.

Deb what have you done for Lyme protection with your dogs ?

Following my Welsh grandfather's rule of thumb and don't plant any above ground plants until the June 1. He always had an enormous bountiful garden.

Stay safe and well

Dianne, rain week is slated for my region as well, wanted to get all the cushions for yard out but no sense if it’s just going to rain.

Yes I heard that the CNE will not operate this, that was the earmark to say school starting was near. It wS a tradition for my family to go to the CNE, me as a child then taking my boys and my taking the grands, kind of loss interest when they no longer had the craft buildings.

Yes our trailer parks are closed, really is sad. I have to laugh, Greg and Mel a few weeks ago put their trailer at end of their drive, set up canopy, the fire pit and enjoyed the weekend camping.neighbours would come out and they sang and visited from afar..not sure if Mel’s aunt sold the camp site meant just for family this year, if not they may go their, about 80 acres and pond and little golf area, I’ll have to check..like knowing where they are.

Hugs, I would bake the cooking but I would share them, think they would give warmth to your heart. I did 2 cakes yesterday, had a piece last night, one this morning, trying to not overdo but it’s hard lol

Doesn’t hurt to be a slug, came upstairs for pizza and you know what, loss a bit of my energy so maybe afternoon nap calls me.

The fire ban, is it because of Covid? I know for awhile that is what they were doing here, banning fires to limit the calls the firemen would have to go out to...no ban here but I’ll check, Ive my burning permit for this year but there could be a ban seeing it’s the long weekend.

My grandfather and FIL always said no planting until after the May 24 weekend.

The plant I got for the easel is in the house, likely I’ll be the one to kill it instead of Mother Nature.

Well my mind certainly wasn’t where it should be, I cut up fabric for Darlene’s placemats, easier method, mind was somewhere else for sure because I was trying for 8 and think I have 16 to sew..oh well, somebody will get a few placemats..

Darn, sure wish that it would either rain or not, dull dreary day..
I’ll continue sewing then maybe get an house or so out in the back yard. Do any of you who out thinks out in the yard hate their gardens at this time of year, I feel my gardens are so yucky...grrr

Is it Memorial Day weekend for those of you in the US ?

One of the places I check on over the winter is owned by a family in NY state. Won't seem the same without them arriving and especially their fireworks. Our local businesses count on the tourist trade..... so they will be in a sad state. Places probably don't know how to restock given the state of affairs.

What's everybody up to this weekend ?

Victoria Harbour, ON

It’s hard to think of it being a long weekend seeing it’s been a never ending long weekend is seems. It is doubtful with Covid and bad weather that we will see much change.

It’s far too cold to be outside today, I’ve noticed neighbours in and out with jackets..as the afternoon cools I can’t warm up sooo I put fireplace on.

Are you using your wood stove?

Deb, wondering how you are doing?

Calgary Stampede is cancelled this year. This is the first time ever.
Our Torrington community-wide yard sale is also cancelled. People would come from far & near to buy from individuals & vendors on this weekend.

I'm going outside to stain two trellis planters & then see if I have enough energy after planting them, to stain the 2nd lawn chair - it's very large - the seat is 29x29". Handmade many years ago.

Afternoon, rainy day and cool..been downstairs sewing, by days end should have the
8 placemats for Darlene done then about 20 or so more to go, ran out of backing though, hate to think of what my Joann’s order will be like once the border is open..must tidy up the craft room, lordy I can sure make a mess!

Susan, seems like the entire world is closed or cancelled, could any of us ever thought this could happen in our lifetime?

Had to ask myself if this was Friday, all days are the same..need to embroider my panties so I know what day it is..smiling, how many of you remember having those?

What plans does everyone have, your long weekend as well right?

Good afternoon. Just got back from my foot Dr. Sprain is healing nicely. No more boot.
Betty, my youngest son and grands6came in from San Antonio last wed. They got our roof repaired. We got our car out 9f the shop yesterday from the hail damage. Hard to believe insurance paid almost $8000.00.
Cloudy here today. We need the rain, but please no more hail or tornadoes.

Been busy with job stuff, updating resume, things like that. I did sign up for a Contact Tracer certification course at the local college. That doesn't start until Aug 3rd, and it's all online. They say they'll be hiring thousands of contact tracers, so might be worthwhile.

Wish I could send you some of our rain, Linda Kay, we had 4" overnight, and another 1"+ expected tomorrow. Got a little water in the basement. Just seepage, along a hairline crack in the north wall, and near a window. The basement is just storage, but I need to move some of the totes around, so everything dries out.

Glad you have house and car repaired bit mostly you being able to be mobile, you will have to take care.

Deb, that would be a good job, I am assuming that it refers to if someone has Covid you check out and call anyone they have been in contact with? Can you seal the leak?

Can’t warm up again so off to put the fireplace on.
