Word is basement is getting repaired next Wed. I could be back to sewing in a week.

All teary this morning from pictures and videos the greats are sending me. This missing them is so hard.

I'm going out to rake the lawn - last year's leaves.
I transplanted 6 tomato plants into larger pots. The bag of soil I used was Wet so it's outside, getting drier in the sun.
Got out the lawn chair cushions I re-covered, and going to weatherproof spray them.
It's a beautiful day out - cya ladies later 😁

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same here..did happy dance when I found some elastic in a button box, most too wide but enough to maybe do 15-20 masks

Len my yard guy has been here since 1pm ..almost finished so with them calling for weather in 50’s this weekend so I think I’ll play outside getting rid of last year’s growth.

I did break down and order and indoor/outdoor area rug for my back patio.

I WANT to get the exterior of the house painted but this 5 day work week is not helping. I have offered to hire youngest son but I noticed he is not jumping at the chance. Must not need money.... I hope he isn't silly enough to ask for money after not taking work I have offered!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It was nice to get outside & do some yard cleanup - Bob ran the lawnmower over the yard, and I started the cleanup of the flower beds. Still a chunk of ice in the front yard where it's shaded, but I was able to walk around in my loafers, and took my sweater off - it was really warm & sunny

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sounds heavenly Susan!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I hope Pat you know what to say if he does ask..lol
Susan you aren’t do8ng too much are you?

Glorious day out there, I should not have done as much, I never learn but it felt sooo good.

Rather than empty the pond, wait till it dries and then clean out leaves then refill?? Trying to take out leaves as they are on the surface then tomorrow I’ll put a pump to pump water out while filling it with clean water, if it works saves me a lot of work although shoulder iis not liking the scooping..I’ll survive.

Set out the chaise lounges near the pond and almost sat in one so I could doze off but I didnt

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

it's a little overcast today, but I was outside at 7:30 this morning on our deck & it was great.
Betty - I'm not overdoing, not at all. In fact, my twisted knee was just that, and it popped back into place so it's felt just fine this past week.
This afternoon I'm going to transplant some tomato plants into larger pots. Can hardly wait until the garden dries up enough to till.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, overcast but little wind so good for working outside.

Susan, that is great news that the knee clicked back in and you can do things ..that doesn’t happen all the time..

outside here I’ll be lucky to think of putting flowers out late May/early June.

Decided to start my day with the hardest part, taking the last side off the back deck..can guarantee you, next year there will be straps installed, not waiting for fall, going to be when sun is shinning and that way easy to take off..even marked on on my main project list of ‘to do’s’ so I don’t forget.

waiting for Greg to come this morning and connect the hose, I’ve enough to keep me busy till he arrives

Now that I drank my coffee time to get out there or here on the couch I’ll stay.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I think it was using the Tensor brace that did it - wore it for 2/3 of the day, and only took it off late evening. Held it in place, the way it should be. It was one night when I took it off that I got a sharp pain on the opposite side from where it was hurting, then a "click" and voila! It was fine after that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well that is good news Susan, now don’t in-click it.

I worked 6 hrs on back porch, Lordy it was freezing, came in and had a bath, nones just aching but on good side back deck is ready for summer, now if it would only warm up..isn’t it strange that yesterday was a sunshine day and today freezing.

I don’t know if it’s because we are housebound and raring to go that we want things to move more quickly, really it’s just end of April and I’m wanting June/July weather.

My idea for the ok d won’t work I do t think so on the weekend weather permitting I guess I’m back into the sludge...Debbie will surely give me the what for.lol

June called earlier and asked if I’d make 6 masks for her..maybe I’ll get to do them tomorrow.

Keep looking at the clock, just after 4, doesn’t seem to be moving so I’m going to tuck myself into bed anyway instead of just laying on the couch

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I weeded, shoveled and raked for hours today. At least now when I look at the back I am not so overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done. LOTS more to do but it seems doable now.

My reblooming lilac that Ben bought me for Mother day last year is blooming. The Japanese red lace maple that was my Bday gift is looking good. I missed my backyard tulips, didn't get them watered at the right time, the backyard was so ugly and overwhelming I just avoided it until today. At least the yard is green now & in need of a mow. Part of the yard is a different kind of grass and it turns an ugly brown in the winter.

I've trying to figure out how to hide the outdoor heat pump unit that is RIGHT there next to the new covered back porch. The answer so simple I don't know why I didn't figure it out before now. Marie got me a white lattice head board to turn into a big bench on the patio. With a small amount of lift to the height of the headboard it can sit in front of the heat pump and be movable when pump needs serving! PERFECT. Now to get it made.

Yesterday all I did was sleep. In bed until 11, AND took a nap! I know some of it is depression. I forced myself outside today so I am doing better. I showered and I am headed to bed.

I hope all of you are happy with however you spent your weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, will be a sunshine day but right now it’s a tad too cool to get outside.

Pat, I know the feeling of looking outside and being overwhelmed,.. today we can walk them gazing at just how much we accomplished and should be proud of ourselves...now for little steps.

One more coffee then downstairs, wash morning, will make some masks till 11 and by then it should be warm enough to go empty the pond..

Verona, ON

Weather the same here Betty. Expecting rain for the next few days.

I too worked outside this weekend. It feels like I have hardly put a dent in it when I look around. So Betty and Pat I understand how you feel/felt. I have quite a mess from the plowing. I am the last on the lane so I get a huge pile of snow from the lane plow. Have always put my ashes on the snow piles as Dave would just plow them under. We didn't have enough snow for that to happen. Also underneath the snow are piles of leaves... some still have a bit of ice on them.My young helper has applied to Foodland for a PT job. I'll miss his help.

Hate to say this but I am still on the bed. The TH are sound asleep and showed no interest in going outside. I'm not in the bed but on it. Need to get a load of laundry going.

Pat I so understand your sleeping in and a nap all on 1 day. Your body is just telling you to take care of yourself.

Judy what are you up to today ?

There is a robin trying to build a nest on top of my motion light on the front stairs. It happens every year. I tear it down and it gets built back up. The first year I left it but boy did I have a mess on the motion light, siding and the stairs to clean up.

Sun is shining now so I am going to get outside with my handy rake and leaf blower.

Stay safe and well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I remember when we had a mud swallow building a nest RIGHT above the entry to our split level house, I kept washing it down with a hose, My youngest would cry "she has to have somewhere to have her babies!" Finally, I gave in to him. The swallow made a terrible mess, would dive bomb as we entered our house. The NEXT year that same son was the one with the hose washing down every attempt at building a next over our entry!! Awww... the lessons in life! LOL

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sunny today but only 46. This is NOT why I moved to TN. It should be way warmer by now.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LOL... sorry that TN is letting ya down Karen!
WINDY here but 77. I mean REALLY windy. Like we have lost some trees in the neighborhood.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Maybe some of that warm will be heading our way.
Basement is supposed to be started on Wed. Only take a couple days at most.
I called around looking for the carpet tiles we like and did locate some in Sevierville so we made a trip there. Yes they had the carpet, however they were chartreuse. I never thought to ask color because I've only seen them in dark colors. Depressing.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

OUCH, I like chartreuse but I don't want it for carpet! Can Home Depot order what you want? How frustrating.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Where we are buying the carpet squares is a sell out store. The get them in often but can't say exactly when. Last time we asked the manager to please call us when they came in and we would come straight over and get them. We may have to do that again. Hoping he'll help us again if we explain what happened. At carpet stores or Lowes, they are more than twice as much.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rainy day here..

Dianne am sure you are having same weather as I..sorry your young lad is getting a job but on the other hand he is good worker and they will be lucky to have him as an employee.

Same thing here, a yearly battle with Andrew that does plowing, the earth is not quite as rough or high this year but with a few days of rain I should be able to rake vs shovel..do need grass see though.

Lots of blue jays as the feeder out front..Ziggy is meowing in ways you’d think he was talking to them.

Pat, any updates on getting your house painted? Have found the winds stronger than usual this spring.

Karen, I’m not a fan of chartreuse, hope the manager can order some in for you...are they the carpet tiles you can lift individually and wash..a neighbour has those. I paid mega $$$ for linoleum downstairs that says if it floods you can roll it, dry and set down again.

Deb and Judy how is the weather 8n your neck of the woods?

Still laying down, this cold rain day makes all my bones ache, started to do something, fight laying down and thought why? Got my blankly and pillow and resting on the couch.

Hoping someone is going to town and calls to see if I need anything..yep, perm kit lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty the carpet tiles are not top quality. Basically just to cover the cement floor. We keep extra on hand so if one is ruined, we can toss it and put down another. The basement company is paying for the replacement but I don't want to cheat them either. What we had was fine.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We had a tornado go through last night. No one was hurt that I know of, but major damage to house and out structures. Lots of trees down. We had the metal roof peel back like a can of sardines about 6 foot. Our son is coming in a few days to help us repair it. Sure was loud when that tornado went through.

If you watch the video, when the lightening strikes, you can see the tornado.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Lindakay, you must have been terrified..were you warned prior to it’s coming? Do you have a shelter safety plan, somewhere you can go? This is unusual for your area?

Will you have to have roof replaced..so many questions..thank the Lord you are ok..hugs
The link says I can’t open..might be my service.

Karen, must be similar to what I’m thinking..if you are still having water problems should you lay them down?

I spent the day on couch with sweats again..went from flannel Jammie’s, my hospital fleece blanket keeping me warm, to cotton nightie and now to silk sleeveless pjs lol

Taking meds then off to bed

Basement repairs are starting tomorrow Betty. They are paying for the carpet and some extra for our work. I will be more aware of how I store things in the future. Make sure only waterproof tubs are directly on the floor. Company is pretty confident they will do a permanent repair this time. Oh they are also installing a battery back up pump.

Victoria Harbour, ON

High winds here this morning..I’m so hoping that I can stay off the couch today lol

Karen, here is hoping..I’m paranoid, have 2 pumps, battery operated pump and also the new one last year if power goes off it runs through the municipal water lines through pressure...always a worry. Could shelving be built so that your totes are up off the ground?

They also did a 4” sub floor in my sewing/craft room, that would help as well..always a worry every time it rains

I had thought of working on my penguin quilt but for the life of me can’t f8nd the bag with all the flannel

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We were watching the weather channel, and knew rain was coming in. All of a sudden it turned into a severe thunderstorm. We had no idea it was a tornado till it was all over with.
I drove through the neighborhood and town. Lots of buildings damaged and lots of trees down.
No one was hurt seriously.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is good news things can be replaced but not lives...

Wind is strong today, coldwater and raining, good day to do nothing..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I turned in 100 facemasks today. All for men. Solid and print colors in blues, greens, gray and black. All together our group has made 800. We were told to not make anymore, as our State is relaxing orders so we can slowly try to get back to normal. They will let us know if they need more later.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, they put in another sump in the opposite corner. Both have bigger motors plus battery back ups good for 14 hours. I got them a quote on the carpet squares today. They are also replacing some damaged paneling and reimbursing us for work we are doing. They had a crew of 5 working here all day.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - rest & take it easy. Hope you're feeling better today.
LK - nice that things are relaxing. Hope it's not too early for it. Not trying to be an alarmist, but I heard there's supposed to be a resurgence in May.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Remodeling and damage repair is sooooo stressful!

The tornado was a shocker!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rainy day, so much of what I scheduled on my calendar has to move to next week..been a rainy week!

LIndakay, I would have thought there would have been a larger demand for face masks seeing much is opening..well you sure did your share, thInk I’m at 106, tired of them, bet you are as well. Bet your rose gardens are breathtaking at this time of year.

Susan, I’m ok, was just a bad day Tuesday but it passed..I’m not too energetic today, knitted a bit but should get up and vacuum, dust and wash floors..

This weekend is suppose to be above seasonal weather, at least Saturday is so hoping to catch up on lots.

I cannot believe how green everything is, each day turns a few shades darker every day since leaves have been cleaned away!

Great about the extra pump Karen..I was told that although it will work without hydro for as many as 14-16hrs it changes with amount of water it’s dealing with..if it’s coming in full forced as it does here at times it had to use more of its energy which means it could only last a few hours..a few years ago I got my generator going, timed my pump and it only lasted 45 minutes which made me decide on that 3rd alternative

Best I get busy

Hope you and your families are all coping well

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..light mist so until the sun decides to come out I’ll play downstairs ..I have 2 settee cushions to cover if I’ve enough fabric so might play doing that.

I can see buds on the trees opening a tad, will be nice when we see green

One of the grocery stores has hanging baskets for $8.88 but I think it’s a tad too cold to buy any now..could bring them in but likely I’d forget

What is in your plans for today!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am working on a Christmas dresden plate quilt. About time I made a quilt for myself.

NOTHING but trouble with my office computer working from home. The only GOOD thing so far is that I know I'll have a bathroom when I want one instead of hoping that one bathroom will be available!! Not uncommon for all bathrooms to be occupied at the same time at work!!

My son spent 3 hours getting my old phone number ported to the new phone & carrier. I NEVER would have been successful. It was very frustrating. .

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to be beautiful LIndakay..I like dresdens, did everyone the large Dresden and you know I don’t remember if I kept one for myself, memory not the best but they were my most favourite

Pat, is it trouble with the server? Is it a work computer? Technology ie phones, computers has me at a loss, if you can’t just turn it on and it work no good..Lordy I even get confused with remote lol

Basecoated the 3 parts of the birdhouse I’m remaking and setting in white snow banks, it’s at its ugly stage but tomorrow when I take a break from outside work I’ll start the trees, fencing and covered shed.

Already in bed, tired tonight!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I call myself Techno-Zero. IF it involves technology of any sort, and there is a way to foul it up, I WILL find it.
Who knows what causes the issues with the computer, eventually I got the program to work again but who knows what I fouled up. It is the office computer and we are using a different technology to access our server and use the programs remotely. PLUS trying to find a suitable place to work... and you can only take so much stuff home! I brought my schedule & some of my reference material. HOWEVER, it is FRIDAY and I refuse to even think about that work again until Monday.

I had contractor take a look at my irrigation work and he declined. He was too busy, too big of a job. *sigh*. I have to decide am I going to muddle thru hauling hoses again this year. What am I going to put ground cover on. I hoped to have the new system in place this year and get gravel etc to cover any open ground. The wind blows too hard to consider bark in very many places.

Verona, ON

Good morning. A lovely day out there and it looks like we will have a run of the same. Woo hoo !!

Pat you are not alone. I too could call myself Techno-Zero. I have a watch coming that also records my BP, steps etc and just know I won't be able to get it up and running. I do have a neighbour up the lane who is very techno savy so will ask him.

Plans for outside as I have so much to do but my shoulder will determine how much I get done each day.

Keeping a watchful eye on Diesel. His back legs and hips are not in great shape. I've been trying to limit the lengths of his walks. But if I take him on a short walk then put him in his yard while I walk Chaos he barks the whole time. The 2 of them are very interested in the ducks swimming in 1 of the large swamps. A few days ago Diesel came home soaking wet with swamp muck on his belly. Chaos on the other hand who is usually my wild child only had his feet wet.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That would be so nice Pat to have irrigation set in, I hate the pulling and tugging to the hoses, I need 3 long lengths to get to all the gardens.is your son still living at home, if he is it sure would be helpful to you.

Dianne, did you get all the sunshine today, called for sunshine city today but it’s overcast, cool and looks as though it could rain at any minute. Have you been able to find a vet that is operating with all these closures? How old is Diesel?? When I was on the lake I just loved the geese and ducks, could sit and watch forever.

I had my day planned, paint on birdhouse until noon then do the yucky, get in the pond and get rid of the leaves..about that time so must decide if I’ll keep painting and waiting for a warmer day..guess if I did it this afternoon it would be done and I could enjoy sound of the spray, get it over with.

Have a friend helping me paint, always trying to drink the paint water..
