Just can’t stop thinking about someone’s child or grandchild sleeping in a schoolyard..
Have Dr.Ho on after my bath, guess I’ll not be working outside this afternoon..imagine snow tomorrow while many of you are enjoying your gardens.
Sharon was here earlier, didn’t even know she had been. She is borrowing my pressure and heart monitor, she finally contacted a dr. Re her tremors..they want to have her monitor her vitals before they prescribe meds..
Dianne, let’s hope it is dog flu, poor Diesel...
I found a nice glass piece in purples for the stained glass centre, some alleys.. I do have a roll of copper foil, how can I see if it’s still good or not or would you jus forget about using it Dianne?
Best/Worse/What did I did I learn today?Chat with friends old and new..
Thought I had posted this, not sure what happened..
Was Tubby’s birthday Saturday...here is for you Tubby
“Four men are in the hospital waiting room because their wives are having babies. A nurse approaches the first guy and says, “Congratulations! You're the father of twins.” “That's odd,” answers the man. “I work for the Minnesota Twins!” A nurse then yells the second man, “Congratulations! You're the father of triplets!” “That's weird,” answers the second man. “I work for the 3M company!” A nurse goes up to the third man saying, “Congratulations! You're the father of quadruplets." “That's strange,” he answers. “I work for the Four Seasons hotel!” The last man begins groaning and banging his head against the wall. “What's wrong?” the others ask. “I work for 7 Up!”
Just the king of daily joke he would post..hoping Shirley is doing ok
Betty you could try the foil around a couple of pieces of glass and see if it stays stuck, Personally I would toss it and buy new if it has been a couple of years since you used it.
I will check it out but it’s been over 2 years so maybe I will wait as it was just for something different to do while I’m unable to get out..maybe this weekend I have to get a few groceries, will call Gail ask how much and leave money at doorstep and pick it up. Rather be safe than doing it with old and it not standing up

2 loose horses just walking down my road... I don't even recognize them so they can't be from too close by.
I hope Diesel is better soon. It's so scary when our loved ones are sick, pet or people!
Weather was beautiful today - no jacket needed. 17celsius, 21 in Red Deer, only 1 hour north of us.
Question for you quilters....... I'm hand-quilting my queen-sized bedspread. How far apart should the quilting be? Please don't say 2" cuz then I'd be working on it for another year...........
Looks like I have a buyer for our modified van, without trying. My neighbor asked me about what was available in Tri-Cities to transport a wheelchair. I suggested they call Dial A Ride and if they couldn't get it arranged in time for the Thursday MD appt, I would insure my van & loan it them. It's just been sitting. He asked if I'd sell it!! I told him I intended to put it up for sale in fall, didn't want to bother with it now with the COVID-19 etc.
Son had to move 3 vehicles before I could get the van out, neighbor will take it for test drive tomorrow. But he has seen it & likes it so I think I will have the van gone much sooner than I thought. That would be one more headache resolved.
👌😊 That's awesome, Pat! Bit of cash in your pocket won't go amiss, I'm sure!!
Quilting is totally up to the quilter. Some like the stitches close together, so not so much.
I have seen some old quilts with hand stitching 1/2 in h apart in a fan shape. Others I have seen, where they echo the seams on a 6 inch squares.
Not sure about Dianne but it’s a windy day, bitter cold and a few flurries.
Pat that is good news for sure, just too bad you couldn’t have sold it further distance than your area, will bring back memories...my thoughts only.
Susan, so it’s you who has the nice weather, put your feet up and enjoy it.
As for the quilting, LIndakay is right, doesn’t matter only does if you are in competition.sharon use to compete about 30+ years ago, I saw her many times take stitches out to have the right stitch per inch.
This morning I woke, 7:15.. Drats missed recycling, saw the recycle truck up the road so out in pj’s, slippers I managed to catch him on other side of road..well awake after that. Took my coffee downstairs and got the inserts of the blocks almost done and made myself a fun Covid mask.
Should not have layer down, taken my get up and go now
Maybe now I’ve had lunch I’ll have a piece of cherry pie
I love that mask
Very windy here and it is noisy. It sounds like a train is rumbling by the house.
My day got off on the left foot so the only way it could go was up.It poured rain when the TH and I walked. Diesel's back leg collapsed.. Thought I was going to have carry him home. I sat on the ground and loved him up. After about 10 min he was ready to start on his way home. He's limping but not 1 cry or whimper out of him. Like Warren was he is very stoic. I went to the ATM machine and there were people ahead of me. You have to line up outside and it was pouring rain. So I thought I would go to the PO and get the 2 parcels waiting for me. Ooops new hours and it didn't open until 10 am - it was 9:15. So I went to Foodland to waste time and ended up buying a couple of things I didn't really need but just in case..lol On the way back no one was in line for the ATM so I was able to get right in. Still time to waste for the PO so I read the Toronto Star until I could get in. My new pink cordless drill is here.Woo hoo.... it is charging now.
Love the mask Betty. I always thought the lips and tongue was to honour Mick Jagger. Nope, some artist had this out for sale.with no thought of Jagger.
Pat happy for you that your van sold without you having to post it somewhere.
Deb how are you and the dogs faring with this cold wet weather ? Ticks a problem for you ? They are very bad here this year.
LK do you have to worry about ticks with your dogs ?
Betty I think we are really lucky here in Ontario that Premier Ford acted quickly imposing self distancing. I am not a huge fan of his but right now I sure am.
My heart aches for Nova Scotia. I just had a news update and the death toll is up to 23. This guy set fires to some of the homes he shot people in so they are still identifying people. One retired fireman was driving by a burning house and got out to help - he was killed. We are very, very lucky here in Canada we do not have occurrences like that very often.
Karen are your basement repairs done ?
So what is everybody else up to ?
Our basement isn't even started. Probably not for another week. I believe we are on the schedule for the 29th.
My sis in NC called this morning, she has Lyme disease from a tick bite. Her dachshund likes to sit on her shoulders when she is on the couch and tick was on her neck. He is only out for a few minutes at a time on a leash. She had to call her Dr, and send in a photo of the tell tale bullseye and the Dr. called her in an antibiotic.
Did your sister have a blood test to confirm it was Lyme ? I have had antibiotic for 2 weeks after tick bites. After that if the bite was still inflamed she would order a blood test. I am glad your sister caught the bite early.
No ticks or fleas on our dogs. They both get a pill every 3 months called Bravecto. $50.00 a piece, but well worth it. Dianne, call your vet, and see if you can get it.
She didn't have a blood test. but has had it before and all the same symptoms. Swollen glands, fever, tell tale bulls-eye redness. She also had her hubby remove the tick so sure that's what it was.
I am totally grossed out by ticks. NOT part of my reality! Cactus... burrs, goat heads, sand burrs and mosquitos in abundance, occasional snake... those are part of life, even a bat or two. Please no TICKS! LOL
re: quilt stitches - I wasn't asking about # of stitches per inch, no - I was wondering how thoroughly I have to quilt it ie: how much "open space" between patterns. If I'm quilting .......... feathers, how far apart should they be? I don't want it bunching up in areas where it's not stitched down. Hope I'm asking the way it can be understood.
I've heard some people can do really tiny stitching - 8 stitches per inch. Mine isn't that regular, but I'm happy with it.
It's finished, washed, and on my bed. I couldn't be prouder. It's not perfect, and at seams where it's bulkier, my stitches aren't as even, but no one's going to go over it with a magnifying glass to point out the errors of my ways NOT that they'd need a magnifying glass 😉🤷♀️
Morning, sun is trying to come out wit like Dianne the wind is just howling..cold enough that the bit of snow we had yesterday is still on the ground.
Susan, can you take a photo for us? It sounds striking..we are our worse enemy in finding errors in our art, things nobody would ever see so best we be kind to ourselves.
Dianne, gets confusing when you want to go do a few errands and back home and find all different hours. I did same last Saturday morning, thought I’d go to No frills, changed the 7-8 to 8, so went to food basics, no one in the store, followed the tape directional line and was finished in10 minutes then sat and waited for $$$ store to open..guess it’s up to us to check store opening..if I go Saturday will be sure to do so.
I is indeed a tragedy in Nova Scotia, small communities devastated, hit a lot in the community. His vehicle was transformed as was his outfit into that of RCMP design, those he approached would never have worried about him approaching.
Karen, one more week....
Pat snakes and I do not do well..we have rattlers here.
Laying with Dr.Ho pulsating for 40 minutes..didn’t do anything that should have brought this pressure back..holding my neck up is a chore, so laze day for me unless
Dr.Ho offers some relief.
Think Dianne you and I are the only ones that live alone, know how difficult it is..lonesome time...not lessening what the rest of you are going through.am sure it’s hard on the rest of you as well.. armwraps as Judy would say
Venomous snakes are a new reality for me. Not a problem in MI.
Ticks aren't usually a problem here, but, we have picked up a few over the years, when out at lure coursing trials. I don't know that I could deal with ticks, but I guess you get used to it.
Betty, count me as another living on my own. Except for the dogs, of course, though I do carry on one sided conversations with them all the time.
Do you work out in the gardens Karen?
This weekend we are suppose to get 50F weather, so hoping my gut will come and get yard done. I do see some plants making their way through fall leaves,
Beautiful quilt Susan.
Karen, your garden looks awesome.
Karen, bet your place looks lovely with the flag blowing in the wind..I love the black mulch, it’s what I put down last few years but you have to refresh every year.not an easy thing keeping up with weeds, your gardens are manicured and every weed shows..mine is country garden so flowers hide the weeds if I can’t keep up.
Susan you should be proud, that is absolutely stunning..love the colours..great quilting, not a wonder it took so long. Hmmm I was in several round robins but wasn’t in that one..the one I did with you was the peacock I think..the piece I had was embroidered Victorian Santa’s and it’s always in a place of honour.
About 2:30 Greg called and asked if I’d do a few masks for the girls in his office..I said sure, he asked how much and I said nothing, my way of helping beat Covid19..before he ended his conversation he asked how long it would take to do 12, he works all day with figures, guess someone forgot to explain to him that a few is not 12 lol..it was the push I needed, went downstairs and got 6 done and a ‘lip’ mask for Melanie..I’ll finish tomorrow ..Lordy getting short on elastic
Yeah, "a few" sometimes becomes a "few" more than we thought!!! LOL
Betty - I was in 2 consecutive Round Robins - you were in the one with the peacock, and the other group was the butterfly center I made.
The peacock, as you may remember, was made into my shower curtain and so it's on display all the time. Many people have commented on how lovely it is. It's not "quilted" but it is there for any of our guests to see. I love the material you added to it 😊
sunshine this morning but on cool side..I’ll work on finishing the 6 masks I’ve left to do and hopefully I can play outside a bit. With my shoulders paining I don’t think I will try finishing taking winter covers off back deck.
Miss the trading of blocks Susan, looked forward to participating.
Loved that peacock panel..
What are you all up to today?
Betty, has your Dr made a house call lately?. Did you ever find out why surgery was canceled?
I had a request for about 20 more masks, so I will be sewing today.

If you need elastic, this place is pretty cheap. They have other sizes too.
It was sad, Betty, when two of the participants (myself included) didn't get their blocks returned (and it being the 2nd time that this sort of thing happened - the other one I believe took over a year). I don't think that I'll be hosting one again. It was a lot of fun, though 😊 I know that I was one of the overly-long ones in one of them.
Looks like it will be another decent day out - if it dries up in the yard a bit more, we might go raking last year's leaves!
Just by the time I order, pay us exchange and shipping it’s mega $$$
I did fine thin round elastic in about 5 colours but don’t know how it will hold up,will check
Time to think of eats, had a good lunch, maybe just peanut butter and jam.
I only participated in one round robin and diligently made my rounds & NEVER got mine back. Most of them seemed to have stopped dead in their tracks at one house. She acknowledged she had them, & then dropped out of sight. I was very disappointed. I begged her to just send them all to me, I'd do her round and move them on... Oh well, I was very disappointed, all that work I put into the different rounds, trying to really add to the overall look and they didn't make it back to their owners.
Part of me says it would be fun to start up the block exchanges again but I haven't got the OTHER blocks made into quilts and can't even quilt what I do have made up. Sounds like I'm on a pity party huh?
I took my Epic in for repairs today and bought a new Opal. It will be my back up machine & the one I carry somewhere. It has LOTS of the features I love about the Epic but no embroidery and the throat is much smaller.
Pat - that's so sad, and I wish that hadn't happened to you. Live & learn..........
I had heard about a few people not getting theirs back, thankfully I wasn’t one of them..remember hearing about that individual but for the life of me can’t remember who, least she could have done is passed them forward.
It was fun seeing how creative other were with the insert we had made.
Dull kind of morning in my neighbourhood, snow flurries..think Mother Nature is in a tail spin. Another day my garden guy can’t work..suppose to be 54 and sunny, maybe there is hope for tomorrow.
So what is on your schedule for today..enjoy hearing as it’s awfully lonely just me, myself and I here..
Working on more facemasks.
