Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Always a chair and good friends when you want to chat or need a hug..
Pat I agree you need more time to heal yourself. Also you now have the ease of knowing Ben is getting the care he needs and most importantly is in a safe place so you don't need to be worrying about him and what trouble he might be getting into. My aunt had to make the same difficult decision because my uncle wouldn't use his walker or cane and kept falling. She couldn't get him up and had to call for help every time.
Betty I think Pat means the beads for in the phone pillows. And no Pat I do not think turning into Betty is a bad thing. Wishing I had her energy and was able to stay so busy. I have to budget my energy as I'm only able to do a certain amount of walking. I don't have a lot of feeling in my feet so I have to be careful of falls especially on the stairs.
Ahhh yes, the beads for our project, see how I call it our..she will be addicted as well.
If only they could fix me up Karen, just like you ends of fingers get numb..must be so frustrating for you and yet you go,go,go!
Thanks for the new thread Betty.
Not doing much today. I have som6of tho6beads on order too. Betty, does the corduroy make them more sturdy?
Yep, project beads for the phone pillow. I don't do any "beading" although I have all the stuff to do some bracelets. Commercial bracelets rarely fit so I had planned on making a few for myself but have been stalled.
The care that Ben gets is not the best, it is not the best facility BUT it is on the way home from work AND very close to home. Last time Ben was in a SNF, it was Sunnyside, more than a full hour away and SNOWY weather! I do think being close to home out weigh the rest. I just "stay on top of the nurses" to make sure he gets the care he needs.
The first week of Ben at the SNF was actually as bad as having him home. There was so much to do to get his room better set up for him etc and I had NO confidence in the staff. MUCH better now... It would not be a "bad thing" for me if Ben stayed in the SNF, but I know he wants to return home. I hope that if that is the case, he will keep the progress he is making. I know I am going to be less tolerant of some of his poor habits!!
My hands go numb sometimes. My hand hurt most of the time now, and if they are cold??? OH MY!!! My legs BURN if I stand too long. It's the PITS getting older, huh? LOL But so far they have NOT figured out a way to get younger so....
My son Kevin has at least one more surgery to complete and then I expect he will be getting really serious about moving to Portland. It will be interesting to see how long it takes Kevin & Gloria to decide to get married.
I've signed up for a QOV quilting retreat next Sept. Finally there is going to be one near me and affordable. I'll so enjoy meeting members of our Stars group. There's a lot to do to get ready for it, quite a few blocks to make plus a center for a round robin. I have to decide which machine to take too. I think the newest one, only 20 years old. I think it will be the most dependable and it doesn't require a lot of maintainance. It will need a traveling case too as it has none.
Rest of the family are now home. They had a very good time visiting with Bryan's family after New Years. Back into our routines.
Marie has one of her machines in a Scrap booking case and it really works out nice! I hope you can find something perfect for your needs. I got one at Joann's on clearance once. The scrap booking carrying cases have more room, lots of pockets and zippered areas. Plus, they generally have lots of adjustments made easy with Velcro dividers.
Marie & I have decided to NOT go to Expo this year. With her & mine husband's health unstable, we risk the unrefundable cost. We might rent the Grange hall or Fire station and have a "sew - in" there.
This is kind of cool... you would still need additional protection for your machine, but even doubles as a seat!! https://www.amazon.com/Two-Wheeled-Collapsible-Handcart-Rolling-lightweight/dp/B0798J37V7/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?crid=1QT4XVONB18H0&keywords=scrapbooking+rolling+cart&qid=1578297025&sprefix=scrap+booking+roll%2Caps%2C249&sr=8-17-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExTTFENFZCQUdXRUsxJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDgxODYxMzlUVTJIV0VCNjZHNyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDgzMjkwQ0NYVDY2UVpMNU8xJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Thanks Pat, I would have to check dimensions on all these. My machine is pretty big. I did find one on local sale site that is made for my brand of machine. Usually they are over $200. and this one is $65. Likely way I will go if we can work it out.
Morning all, snowing, warning in region so was out at 4:30am and got front and back deck done and pathway into basement..was nice and fluffy, not too cold, I beat Andrew so didn’t have to lift the the shovel, he will just ouch it into a bank...think high today is 34...
Pat, I have 2 of those units you showed, looks great but unless you’ve mega strength a little bit difficult to manoeuvre..likely Joann’s has something. I bought a,perfect one similar to the one Pat showed and I think I bought it at fabricland many years ago.
I find it difficult when I go to Cookstown for embroidery project class, between the hour drive there and doing 3-4 trips upstairs with my equipment then same coming home it does me in, has to be a project I really like...it just reminded me, I went last year and we did a valentines project, can’t remember what, have to go in search.
Karen , you will so enjoy the QOV group..maybe in the spring I’ll look into what is offered inBarrie, don’t want to contend with the weather in wintertime.
Look at the tire that was giving me trouble, looks down...shows they open at 7 so I’ll be ready incase they say I can come right in, near Canadian tire so I can also drop in to return the painters canvas I bought the other day, grabbed the package, didn’t look and this one has a plastic lining on it, let’s hope they have what I need in stock.
mr. Froggie has been in microwave twice, now on my shoulder, missed him..lol
That is my morning...
Pat, thanks for the links. Those are nice bags.
I hope you can get your tire fixed Betty.
did, it was a staple, where oh where would I have gotten that.
Was stormy going into town, dropped in the office and now it's turning into freezing rain so will stay a tad then go to Walmart/Food Basics...exchanged the painters cloth that had a plastic back covering for correct one..I've been watching a designer site that comes on once or twice a day, she loves loves loves having trees all year round. She has over 20 in her home, nope not for me, cut Canadian tire had in a nice little silver container with realistic plastic tree on 1/2 price, I paid $15 for it..I have a little table near a chair, it will be my year round tree (making a face)..this week I'll decorate into valentines then St. Patricks and so on and so on...keeps me out of mischief.
I am sooo mad. Docs office called and has to move appointment again. And will have to see assistant PA...who is wondersul....but not him.
Moved to 14th. 😩
Snowing here too Betty but I sure hope freezing rain doesn't find us. I haven't shoveled the front steps yet but will before it gets too heavy.
TH have been walked, 2 loads of laundry done and folded, swept and showered. I am ready for whatever the day brings me. I have a rug hooking kit for a mat that I would like to start. The repercussions of the cataract surgery have stopped me from starting it. I am not happy at all. I have readers in every room because every time I turn around I need to put them on for something closeup.I see the Neuro Opthamalogist (sp) soon so will make some decisions then about which way to go with my eyes. If any of you are contemplating or needing cataract surgery please do not be swayed by my experience. This is just a fluke. The right eye for distance is excellent but I need readers for close up with it. The left eye pffft ! The cataract surgeon should never have told me I would have 20 20 vision.
Karen I am excited for you. Your Sept meet up sounds perfect for you.
LK I am sure I have asked you this before but what is the time difference from you to me?
Susan how are you and Bob doing?
Pat I agree with the others. You need some more time for yourself. I kept Warren at home and had no help. Warren was a very private person and wanted no one coming in. I thought I was doing just fine until about 3 weeks after he died. I was exhausted and it finally hit. Take care of yourself especially if Ben does come back home.
Betty I keep a small portable compressor in the Escape because my last Escape had aluminum rims. My tires lost air all the time. On my new Escape the winter tires aren't aluminum rims but my regular tires are so will be back to weekly checking. Only once was the deflating due to a nail in the tire.Glad you got yours fixed.I got the compressor at Canadian Tire.
Chaos is crying out in pain when he moves a certain way especially after a walk. I can't find anything and he does not flinch when I pat him down. I am just wondering if he is doing it because Diesel gets extra hugs and attention when he cries out in pain. Diesel has a bum back leg.
Need to find something to eat. My morning banana did not fill me up.
Stay safe warm and well.
Yep, $65 for the one designed for you machine is VERY tempting I am sure! The Walla Walla site, where we go for the sewing machine classes, is in a "loft" above the Spa sales floor. Their owner hikes all the machines up those stairs for us!
YEARS ago, a dear friend's husband became paralyzed. He was also a BIG guy and very private. I finally had a chat with him and told him he was selfish and KILLING his wife. She had MS, it made if additionally difficult because of this size. He finally agreed to outside help. Both has since passed away. I read somewhere it take 3 years to recover from every ONE year of caregiving. I can believe it. When our Dad passed away, I think Marie slept the first 6 months!!!
Errands to run, and I hope a little sewing. OK. truthfully, I would like to do a LOT of sewing but that won't happen!! LOL My office partner is going to be gone for almost 3 weeks, I will have my office ALL to myself! Peace and quiet. PLUS, it's a light month for me, less than 1/2 as many assessments as usual. I am planning on taking a FULL day off and just sewing!!!
Dianne, I am in central time zone. It is 1 hour off from eastern. If it is noon in new York, it is 11 here. Don't know if you are eastern time zone or not.
Yes LK I am in the eastern time zone. Like Betty and Debbie.
So there is a 1 hour difference.
Morning all, no snow till later today, mimdid a lot of shovelling from 5:00 for over an hour, Andrew got here just as groceries were being put out and said had I done a tad more he wouldn’t have to do my drive..lol
Girls coming this morning so there was about 5 totes and a few extra pieces that needed to go to back shed, managed to do that..just had a coffee while I wait for bath to finish filling, get craft room cleaned for arrival of the girls and hope to get back to chat with you all..
Off to work, I did get some sewing done last night, just doll clothes.
Betty, I don't know how you keep going. Sore body and all.
Glad to hear you got some sewing time Pat.
This year the kids donation quilts are easy rail fence quilts. Someone donated a bunch of jelly rolls for the project. It takes 2, 40 piece jelly rolls for 1 quilt. Pretty easy to do. That is what I will be doing tomorrow at quilting. Most of them are beautiful batiks.
I'm loving batiks the more I use them.
I will take a photo tomorrow.
Hi all - been a busy couple of weeks. Sunday I went to 3 church services - each had Communion lol Regular church, then 2 senior's homes - I was required to sing at all 3.
Monday our Wellness Society had it's meeting in the afternoon, and I'm Secretary/Treasurer. Of course it was coffeetime in the morning, and I had the setup to do.
Tues - we have our Tuesday Social Group & told them what was decided at the Monday meeting - for one thing we'll be doing a 2nd ed of the Community Book we did last year - new recipes & crafts, so it's a bit different. Also, we're making bookmarks to go into them, instead of dishcloths. Also, we're going to have a Fundraiser so we can decorate our hamlet, for Christmas 2020. Currently, we only have ONE decoration on ONE lightpost. The county took all the others down several years ago, and forgot the one that's left. We want to put a Christmas tree in the center of town (pretty much the only intersection we have, and no stop lights there)
Wed - it's our Red Hatter's lunch at a lovely little cafe.
Thurs - bowling in the afternoon
Friday - Games afternoon that I organize.
and then - hurray, it's Saturday & I actually get my day of rest......... then it starts all over again lol Oh wait, that's my day to type up the minutes, do any crafting that needs to be done, etc etc etc lol Love being busy & productive!
You have been busy. Sounds like you are enjoying it
Lordy, thought I had posted yesterday, bad storm last night and a tad the same this morning, lots of shovelling to be done but I will do a little at a time.
Dianne, are you getting the same storm..ice storms over the weekend so Th won’t be happy no long walks.
Susan, that is quite a daily schedule of events you have going on, thInk the busier you are the better you feel.
It was mentioned how do I do so much and still be in mega pain? I find that moving causes along with meds to make the day more bearable. If I soon don’t get in for surgery and they still do not know for sure it’s the cause until I do have surgery I’m going to up from 4 Tylenol 3 to 4 Tylenol 4’s..the 3’s right now just take edge off.
Not sure that is the right step to take but ??? Pressure was so bad Monday I spent evening sobbing.
Karen, girls enjoyed making phone caddy/holder and all said to say thanks!
Today, hummingbird fabric is having 30% off 108” backing, will call and order some.
LIndakay, how happy your group must be to have gotten the precuts.
Ooh someone in drive,must run
Betty, hubby takes 4 ibuprofen every morning or he can barely function for the pain. I guess I'm fortunate I don't have that.
Grrrr called Oncology office this morning because they had not called me about infusion Dr. said I needed. He evidently forgot and meanwhile has left the practice. Now they want want me to come back for more blood draws so new Dr. can decide what to do. I suppose I will as I do feel a bit wimpy, but I'm thinking it will be a waste of my time and money so they can play cover their a--es.
Sunny here Betty but very cold. There is a nasty wind coming in off of the lake.
Spent yesterday at the hospital in Kingston. No not for me but for my cleaning lady. Dawn walked in just before 8:30 am and I immediately bundled her up and into my Escape. She was suffering from kidney stones and in mega pain. I was so glad I was able to help her out as she is so good to me.
Oh Karen pffft at the runaround.
Susan wow you are busy but sound so happy.
Pat how are things with Ben, any news on if or when he is coming home ? 3 weeks with no office mate.... oh no what will you do ???
Deb how did you and the dogs make out over the holiday ? I've been having to brush the TH every day and when I do I think about how much brushing you have to do with yours.
Has anyone made LK"s Baileys fudge?
Sounds like he TH need to be fed. I can hear their bowls being tossed around.
Stay safe, warm and well.
Glad you were able to help Dawn. How is she doing?
Karen, sorry to hear about you getting the run around.
LK I saw Dawn this afternoon at IGA. She had cleaned and was making a quick run to the grocery store because she felt the pain coming back. She passed 1 stone this morning but there is another stone yet to come. The CT showed she had several stones in both of her kidneys but they were higher up. But she has that joy to look forward to in the future.
Morning ladies, just finishing my coffee then out to shovel.
Karen I’m sure your body knows best and is telling you it’s infusion time, best get at it.
Hoped Ian Eastwood the storm misses you, especially the freezing rain scheduled for weekend..tomorrow which weather is suppose to be ok I will have to get everything I need for eats and to keep me busy for the weekend just incase I’m house bound.
Pat, how was Ben yesterday?
Off to shovel
Expecting rain here today and tomorrow, temps in the upper 40's, then changing to snow on Saturday. I wish it would just freeze and stay frozen. my backyard is so muddy, which means my floors are filthy from the dogs going in and out. I gave up on trying to keep up!
Deb
Oh Deb, can just imagine, just Ziggy going out I see paw marks all over the floors..
That is mild weather for you for this time of year isn’t it?
Bet Karen is pleased with having moved to warmer weather
I was just thinking this morning that with nobody really at home there has been no housework..anything I needed to get done was done early, laid down yesterday afternoon at 2:30, fell asleep, woke just after 5, had what was left of Kentucky fried chicken, had a bath, went to bed by 6 and slept through the night, woke this morning and house was ever so clean..one of the benefits if you can call it a benefit of living alone house was exactly as left.
Ordered one of those robot sweepers this morning and I lost on summer vacation my dr,Ho unit for pain, ordered cheaper model as I hope after surgery I’ll not need it..says order won’t come in til feb.8th..seems like forever.
Didn’t shovel more today, too sore so I’ll go out and do another 10 minutes.
Kind of at ends with myself, want to do something and yet I don’t, anybody else the same..maybe we did too much before christmas? Haven’t even got back to knitting..tomorrow I’ll pick up the wool I ordered from Walmart as I got notification it was in.
Tomorrow morning big fabric sale from 7-9am..need to be 8n your p.j’s..talked myself into going and now that it is tomorrow talking myself out of it lol
I haven't even been down to the sewing room since I finished all the Christmas stuff. Just no get up and go.
OUCH, gotta be stressful knowing there are more stones coming...
Good morning. It has been unusually warm here. We have had only 4 nights with frost ot freezing temps, but by noon temps are warm again. Hard to believe it is January with 70+ temps.
Betty, I would be on that phone at least once a week to the surgeon asking about cancellations. I think shopping in my pj's would be fun. Our hobby lobby just had 40% off all fabrics. I got some at $2.00 a yard.
Lordy lindadakay hummingbird and Barrie had a 40% off if you went to their store this morning for tomorrow morning between seven and nine. Because they are calling for freezing rain all weekend I thought I would get everything done today so off to Barrie I went.
There’s no reason they can’t give 40% off as their fabric was nice was $19.99 meter (39”).. so with my big discount it still was double what Joanne sells stairs at full price. Ask me if I was disappointed, think you know the answer is yes.
Visited with friends then went and bought my groceries wanted everything in the house to make a hot stew for tomorrow and Sunday as likely I will not get out
I also went to Walmart and picked up my parcel, what is the easy way to get the world I needed shopping online. Likely they have created an online monster out of me, never do I shop online but it was kind of neat.
So having bought little bits of red and white fabric so I can make Kimber bell Valentine’s Day pillow cover and some corduroy .. I have enough fabric to keep me busy this weekend should I not be able to get out. Karen the girls at the shop had made the cel caddies and what they did is put loops on the side for holding scissors etc. and using it as a pin cushion, great to have around in a craft room.
I bought a beautiful black corduroy with little gray off white flowers in it, going to make a couple for me as it kind of matches my couch.
When I left the house today I saw quite a few deer in the yard, just sat and watched them, as I stood and watched I couldn’t believe one shrub (wish I knew the name)
Is Kelly green..the deepest green, odd at this time of year..it’s near the lavender bushes, surely it’s not lavender.
Deciding if I want to take my bath then go look to see if I’ve the Valentine’s Day pattern or if I have to dream something up lol or go look then have my bath.
So that is my day, what did you all get up to?
One of my quilting friends and I went to one of the local longarmers. My friend Sylvia needed a quilt done. This lady has a beautiful home, and her sewing room is bigger than my home. Her longarm is 14 foot long. She was telling us when she bought it back in 2003, she paid $20,000.00. She has had enough business to pay for her machine 3 times plus.
Those machines are beauties LIndakay, wish I was a tad younger, I’d surely get one..many so computerized, just too old to learn the programming.I love random quilting of roses, etc and use pentagrams... I’ve about 4quilts people have asked me to do, not even sure I want to do them
