Lucky you LIndakay, mega problems in Toronto with off ramp amd many area..these poor souls were driving in fog, rain so heavy that when they took off ramp off our 401 they were in mega trouble

Worked in the garden for about 1/2 hr and thought to myself tomorrow is another day!

Karen, one sure gets a lot done on a rainy day...have most of the children gone back home?

Carol going to have to check my nursery for it, if they don’t have it they will order in for me. Do you cut your daisies down and do bloom again..trying to d elide if I should cut down my spiderwort?? We also have a walking path, bike path that goes from almost orillia to penetang, rose my bike the off time but never walked it, should then maybe I’d see some of God’s creatures.

Dianne, Kyle looks more like his dad, I see a lot of me in Noah ..did you ever get the rain?

Susan you are home, resting I hope..

Linda messaged me this morning to say she and David drove to Shouldice Clinic, world renown for hernias, was 5 hr. Wait but the have specialists that give you thorough exam, they just got back to Barrie, going to red lobster for her birthday supper which isn’t til tomorrow but they hadn’t had breakfast or lunch ..said she would call me later to let me know what the doc’s said, she sounded positive and said if nothing comes up in the next 9 days she will be a ‘go’ for roadtrip.. Drats this roadtrip is starting to get to me lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

🤣Betty - surely you JEST! Resting? I certainly Don't need to rest. I was out in my garden, pulling 3 rows of calf-high weeds. I was going to weed the garden last Thurs, and you know where I was then........ not weeding, that's for sure 🤔 It's been raining a lot, so you know what was happening to the weeds hahaha
I'm MUCH happier today - spoke to a dietician & asked for a sheet saying what I Could and Couldn't have in my diet, and she said (and the sheet agrees) that I need to keep my Vit K in balance - have the same every day. Otherwise, going up & down like a yo-yo, my INR will be out of whack. I can DO this! I can have the same amount of Vit K every day and things will balance.

Good news Susan.
Betty, My spiderworts are all flopping and finished blooming too. I was thinking the same thing..should I just cut them right back. I have always thought Noah looks like you a lot. This trip is like being on a tetter totter for you.

Kidneyguy. I found a post where you signed your name. I see it is Diane. I was thinking of a blonde-haired lady who was a nurse. Has three little white dogs and a husband. and a sister that works looking after cemetery grounds.

My daughter in law made this nome for me years ago. I call him Normy. He is in amongst on of my Hosta gardens.

Starzz, That is Marilyn, she lives in Thunder Bay area. Her friend Lorna works at the cemetery. She pops in here from time to time.
Cute gnome, I made some in ceramics many many years ago.

Thank you, Karen.
I had an estimate to have my driveway sealed yesterday. My garden helper (Mike) is coming today and his job will be to clean all the weeds and moss out of the cracks so it is clean and ready for the sealing. The man (Wayne) did it in 2010, It was $320 then he said. This time it will be $480. Materials have gone up. The Round-up that is sold in Canada is much weaker than the one in the U.S. I poured vinegar on the moss last night.

Morning all,

Happy Birthday Debbie...hope there is sunshine in your day! It’s Linda’s birthday as well and Roger would have been 76 today as well (hard to imagine)

been up since 5:10 and housework done for the day..rain tonight so I should be able to spend a few hours outside..

like you said Susan, this humidity and rain made them grow tenfold..can’t believe that in the main garden where I worked it all up it looks as though I threw a bag of grass seed, all new growth grrr

Dianne will you be able to get outside with the TH today or is it raining?

Carol, that still seems to be reasonable for sealing..many of the homes in the area were discussing paving their driveways, I said I’d join in but so far nobody has made an attempt to put package together.maybe this Pringle’s I’ll call someone..

Karen I too did many in ceramics, over the years I lost them..the one I repainted that the little ones gave me and I painted a few weeks ago is plastic plaster of sorts, won’t decay just loses its colour.

Sharon, how is your weather, are you able to be outside for longer periods of time.

Pat, have you recouped after your company last week? Will he be coming to get the vehicle on his own or is the entire family coming.

Joyce, sherry and Cathy from Ohio are joys to have as company, look8ng forward to their visit

Having company this morning, dropping off a jacket for me to embroider name on but not so sure I want to attempt it, I did a test run of embroidery on cotton, embroiders out ok but if the jacket has much thickness to it not sure my hoop will hold it in place..will have to see.

Best finish coffee and get outside before it’s too hot.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My kids were in grade school when A ceramics class was offered as a fund raiser. I really enjoyed it and kept going after the fund raiser was over. Eventually I moved to porcelain dolls. Made and dressed probably 30 or so. House got too crowded so I gave all to grands and greats before we moved to Traverse City. I even had my own kiln. No idea how many of those light up Christmas trees I made & gave away. I see them for sale now for over $100.00

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Debbie. I hope you have a fantastic day.

Yes, I had a large computerized kiln, some moulds, loved to pour, did a lot with seniors when I was recreation coordinator, had the tree then 2 additions to add to the tree..still have a container full of the plastic lights, birds, butterflies. Got old fashion so got rid of all, couldn’t buy the slip anymore for pouring...now everyone wants one..Wanneta who comes sewing has kiln and mould, asked her to pour a few as Melanie wants one, could do one for her for Christmas.

Note to self when putting down black mulch make sure you wear gloves...

Nice cool breeze out there, ran out of mulch so will go to town for some later today..got about 3/4 of walkway done through one of the gardens, need a few for back trio columns as I need to get some plants done in that garden and want to set some down..gee whizz need some for the patio table area is, refresh what is there sooo need more than 2-3 bags I guess.

Love it when you get a call/message from the kids taking a few minutes out of their busy day to let you know they care..means a lot

Awe. How sweet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sometimes they surprise you..
Not really, they are great sons! Just don’t tell them I said that lol

Did a walk around the garden decided to start clearing out weeds and realized all my specialty garden tools are gone..Sharon had some things missing as well, guess Devon decided to help himself, big sigh so will have to go shopping for more grrr

Astilbe in full bloom, the white and pink seem to be taking longer

Areas I need. To weeds and set down mulch

Hung the tree face on the fence..must get loppers out and cut down hoo vines, growing like crazy except for areas I want them to grow.

My mandavilla is doing great though

Mosquito’s now out in droves so taking a break until sun is out and I can cut grass, not sure what time company is coming

Think I'd have a talk with Devon. If he wished to stay employed, your tools need to come home and Sharon's also. That is theft, if he gets away with it now on little things, he could try for bigger items. Nip it in the bud.

Victoria Harbour, ON

He won’t be coming back, he is now taking Sharon’s to court so he says for the dog nip, says he can no longer work, terrified incase a dog is behind him, no feeling in his leg etc etc..however she has texts from him telling her not to worry he is fine, came back to work, then came here.. If you read his texts you’d be appalled, called Sharons daughter a slut and what else I can’t repeat..from his ramblings you’d swear he was drunk...Sharon thinks it’s his girlfriend using his phone.
Leaving it be, I’ll buy new ones and call it a lesson learned. Too bad, excellent
Worker, needed him a few more weeks and SHARON needed him off/on for a few weeks..sad

Been out all morning, I know, I know, should know better, ive been digging up overgrown sod from gardens and I’m paying for it..Tylenol 3 and couch time..

Big loss to cottage country this morning

Company dropped in on way to town, dropped of a jacket for me to embroider, by the time the did their groceries I had it done, they just picked it up..

I had to get into the pond and fix the water feature pump, top came off, rather thanspray it was gushing water..felt refreshing

Suppose to feel like 104 and high humidity next few days, makes me want to buy an above ground pool like Karen.

Thank you for birthday wishes. It was a very nice day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that is horrible that he is taking her to court. Praying it works out good for her.
Your gardens spots are beautiful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, heatwave still on, thunderstorm moving mid afternoon. Did a walkabout in the gardens, must tidy up edges, that tool I have as I had it against tree in the back but each time you edge you gain more garden lol

Have 1/2 the perennials I got from Home Depot planted, hoping to find the rest a home in the water column garden and see if they survive. Other than that it’s a haircut at noon and not much more.

Sharon is having a fencing company come in tomorrow doing a chain link fence and grading the back yard that way she can proceed with building fancy dog house and set a patio slab which will provide her to suit out and is putting in patio door as she wants to closes in under the deck to have a glassed porch so she is getting excited about those things.

What are you up to today and this weekend, anything special?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

going to go gardening - weeding today.
Susan arrives on Aug 3rd.
have to make a spot for her bed. in the den :)

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi Betty,
So Sorry about your Garden helper turning out to be a thief. I told my garden helper Mike about Devon steal your tools and Sharon's. I jokingly said it's too bad she lives so far away..Betty needs someone like you. I asked him what he thought abut somehow repairing the Gazebo..he had a couple of ideas and he is willing to tackle I had to have him come back today and finish getting the moss off the driveway. He was here for 4 hours yesterday on his knees most of the time pulling weeds and grass and digging out the moss. Then he power washed some of it. Today he brought a wire attachment on his drill and that did the trick. I had doused it with vinegar and Roundup..but it didn;t want to let go. It is all ready for Pavestar to come and seal it. I did more trimming today and pulling weeds. Will see how the weather is on the weekend and do what I can out there.
I gave Mike the name of another lady who goes to exercise on Mondays with me. She needs help and he is meeting with her tomorrow.

Susan,
Hope you are feeling better on your Warfarin. The weeds are never-ending, aren't they? My will blackberries are starting to ripen slowly. I ate about 10 of them today.
The weeping mulberry tree is covered in berries too but none are ripe yet. Usually, the birds get those.
Happy Belated Birthday Debbie!

Betty - read bad - omg on Devon stealing from you & Sharon! Sharon's dogs nipping? I shouldn't think so, they're well trained dogs and real sweethearts.
I hope the court case gets settled quickly and Sharon comes out on top. What in the world is he suing her for?!?!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan you must be feeling a tad bit better seeing you are out in the gardens..bet you are anxious Ford inuk is very protective of Sharon, in the ring he is trained to be a showdog with all the attributes, but don’t go near sharon..likely won’t get far especially with Sharon having all the texts.she hasn’t heard from him since,,guy who recommended him is now finding things missing..might go to reuse store, often people moving into apartments drop them off so I’ll try there first.

Carol, that is quite a job working on it in this heat..he will be glad to see the end of it..wouldn’t it be wonderful if he could do work on gazebo, would be heartbreaking to have to take it down.

Ohh just back to this post as sharon and my niece Nikki just dropped in..mom called sharon the other day and said she knew of a vehicle that for financial reasons guy had to sell and if Sharon was still in mind of buying her a car she would like it...idiot SHARON bought it..my mother treats Sharon so poorly, upsets her so much and then asks her to do this for her..just shaking my head grrr
She is up north this weekend so imagine she will be dropping in.

Also she showed me posts that Devon or girlfriend wrote saying how sorry they were for all the texts..not pursuing lawyer for dog..Sharon had also asked Devon for his taxes for last few years as she said she was sure her lawyer would want them for loss of wages?? Devon works under the table..wanted to know if she has more work for him...NOPE they she is finished with him..

Ohhh and remember that idiot who runs variety store next door that got upset with me because of taking off or not putting best before date tags, well he is closing end of August, retiring..doubt there will be another variety store but restaurant/pizzeria will stay open.

Guess I’ll go have a hot bath and take something for my headache

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Not recovered from company and pray that Sim will come alone to get the pick up, he is going to trailer it home so I would GUESS he'll come alone but I won't REALLY know until I see the whites of his eyes. I only have 1 of 2 beds with new sheets etc...

Was a rotten week at work. Full moon crazies out in full force. I had to deal with mouthy, rude, obnoxious, client that thought trying to intimidate me will get her what she wants. NEVER gonna happen!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, wow there is no air outside, inside windows are sweating..glad I drove into town at 7:30 and got my shopping done as they say there will be 8,000 Tamils on a Christian retreat at Martyrs Shrine, didn’t want to get caught in that..buses were lined up for quite a distance. Will be crazy out there this afternoon.

I went to reuse it center, Lordy they wanted same as I paid for my gardening tools as I paid new so I got all that was taken...too hot to put them to work, thought of doing grass but will wait til early evening.

Bought a lot of frozen meals for mom for next week, fresh meat and veggies I will do thursday as I leave Friday.

Linda messaged me at 11:10 last night, had Dave in emerge, his back was bad and swollen feet..they did xrays said heart was ok and likely he pulled something and is to see his own doctor..big sigh

Pat am glad you can stand up for yourself and not let clients walk all over you.likely your friend wouldn’t want to bring along kids if he is towing..maybe he will pick it up and go right back.

Feel like it is nap time, tummy is hungry so just maybe I’ll drum up more energy and get creative.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I was out to the Property Mgr's to pick up stuff donated by the owners of this Park - hot dogs & hamburgers, & fizzy water :)
Now, need to get outside & do some flower garden weeding & plant some lilies (not day lilies - the other kind). They're a deep shade of red.
Dr called yesterday & said my INR was a tiny bit low, but not too bad & I should enjoy my weekend & not worry about it. I go for my blood draw on Monday morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, Drats the rain missed us so was up and out of the house by 5:30 watering the gardens, nope wasn’t alone, mosquitos galore..beautiful day out there, nice breeze and not overly humid. Wanted to put all the patio sets cushions out but they are calling for rIn tomorrow, only 40% chance then weatherman says no rain for 2 weeks.

I’ll wait until thursday and bring all the containers and hanging baskets to the house to make easy for mom to water..maybe I’ll have SHARON dropin to make sure they are tended to.

Managed to get my suitcase packed, travel bags for $$$ for different travel expenses, Need to print off itinerary so we all can leave with our families should they need to contact us.

Went to Sharons for coffee, saw plans for her basement design, even had a few suggestions, watched as cocoons were opening, hard to imagine these cocoons would now be beautiful monarch butterflies and now home..want to burn what is in fire pit, maybe get pressure washer out and wash outside windows..

Should ask Sharon to come over for supper and put her quilt on the frame.

Other than that I’m enjoying my Sunday.

Hope you are enjoying your day..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Lovely day here too Betty. Breezy and cooler I have just come in from doing a bit of snipping and seeing what is growing and blooming. So much dog strangling vine. I just cut it off so the seeds don't make more. Found one wild strawberry..tasted good. Tiny, but sweet.I have some mosquito bites too. They love my neck. I can feel about three bites back there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just came in since I’ve been out since dawn..got the fire pit afire, that cleans things out, everything watered and now tummy says feed me..need fresh eggs so must run down to foodland and get fixing for western sandwhich.

Full time job here as well cutting vines down, you cut one day and no sooner you do that they are back.

I got bit by something, almost looks like red ant, fire ant, sure is sore..maybe it was in the wood. Was burning.

Opened all the windows, nice to feel the breeze..did you or Dianne get last nights storm that missed me?

Best I eat then go work on the back trio column pond area, keepputting it off, think today is the day.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

looks great, Betty - 2 monarchs! Beautiful 👍
I'm heading out now, to do some weeding (yes, it's going to be a long process - much rain, and me being away for so long)

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

The storm passed me by as well, Betty. Those cocoon and Monarch butterfly photos are great.
I went for a walk today down the road and make a right and there is a pretty creek. Wilmot Creek. A lot of things are named after Samuel Wilmot. A retirement community by the lake. The blueberry and apple farm across the road from me too.
And the Nature area where I saw the swans in Lake Ontario.

Home to do some laundry..hung the whites on the line outside.
Watched an episode of Grace and Frankie on Netflix. I just got Netflix recently.

I am having the driveway sealed tomorrow. I was surprised Pavestar could do it so quickly. I will have to miss my exercise for seniors class. But that is ok. I am getting lots of exercise trying to tame the garden.

Betty where are you and the girls going on your trip?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ben got up this morning and was VERY dizzy. Took me twice to get his blood pressure taken, it was a little low but probably was even lower before I could get the darn machine to register. When Ben bought the BP cuff he didn't buy big enough one. Today I did find MY monitor, it's made for wrist and much easier to use, fully automatic.

Went to Sis's and we sort doll clothes by size, Cabbage Patch or 18 inch doll. We are preparing to bag up the Cabbage Patch so we know what we still need to do. Was fun to "re-visit" some of the stuff we made and didn't use last year. Some of the stuff I remembered once I saw it, but if you had asked me how many sundresses I made, I sure forgot a lot of them!

Headed to bed, I need to have son at the hospital at 7.30 for hernia surgery.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning Pat, You sure have a "lot on your plate." Happy that you can get a little "me" time and pleasure from your sewing. I am up so early. Too excited about today. Can't sleep. Plus I stubbed my toe getting up to go to the bathroom. Hurts like the devil.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, been out watering since 5a.m. Had thought with rain today I’d be ok but the forecast has changed and no rain till mid week next week. Grrr
Have the front gardens done, back gardens need water, some I’ll do later tonight, give them a good soaking!

Skitter followed me in, just fixed him lol

Pat I’m with carol, you sure have your hands full..isn’t it nice to revisit treasures made, I sometimes go through photo’s and wonder who to heck got them.glad you had sister time, how far again does she live from you?

I enjoyed yesterday just being able to go over to sharon’s For coffee..they have started the partitions in her basement, she will be thrilled to get it done..today she goes to purchase a patio door and a fireplace.

Susan, you are not overdoing are you?

Deb are there any shows coming up?

LIndakay does your sewing group meet in the summer?

What are you up to Karen?

Sharon is it getting any cooler in your neck of the woods?

Carol, we leave Friday at noon, still don’t know all who is going, imagine I’ll find out Friday noon 😜

Greg called me last night, he was picking up fixings for a dinner Roger used to make and wanted to know if he missed anything? So odd, just the other day I remembered about the same meal..will have to ask him how it turned out..likely we didn’t remember all the fixings

Best I get a move on, I’m ahead of the game today but need to organize the craft room just incase the girls come today plus I want to get a panel ready for j7ne in the morning so we are not all rushing about.

Enjoy your day..

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

You all are so busy, and getting things done!

No dog shows for me for a few weeks. Aug 10&11 one of my girls will be in Ohio for shows, the other one I'll take to a show in Wisconsin. Then, nothing until the end of the month. I'm trying to cut back and save a little money.

Our big Afghan Hound Club of America show is out in Virginia Beach in late October, and I'm really looking forward to that. But, need to save up money for it, too. Always expensive, and always too much artwork, equipment, etc that I want to buy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, our quilting group meets year round.
Sounds like you are getting things done before your trip.

I didn"think he would get so much done
