Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better Susan. Listen to the Dr.
Best,Worse,What did I learn today..chat with friends old and new..come sit a spell..
yes ma'am, I will - not going home until it's right to. Y'know, even if the Dr says you are being discharged (in Canada anyway) you don't have to go. We don't have to pay insurance for the stay, so it's all good. And I will stay until I'm ok to do things on my own, without feeling so drained.
Susan just a thought but a friend developed a cough after she was put on a certain kind of heart medication. For the life of me I can't think of the name of the drug. Anyway she will have the cough as long as she is on the drug. According to her the cough was worth it considering the option.
The mosquitoes are worse than terrible. Some got into the house while I had the door open moving some things around. I swear they are multiplying as I bat them away.
Pat good for you hiring some strong young men. There comes a time when you just have to say "I'll hire someone". Being a widow there are just some things I can't do by myself. I bought my wood cut, split and delivered last year for the first time. All I had to do was stack it.
Deb how did the dog show go ?
Love the flowers Debbie.
Have lamb chops I must BBQ tonight. I took them out of the freezer a couple of days ago and just haven't felt like them. Found some mint sauce so I am all set.
Stay safe, well and cool.
Good attitude to have Susan, insist you stay until you know you’ve beaten it.
Dianne, first time today I’ve seen a few flies..mosquitos same here.
Bought that small bbq last year, used once..should take it out but for 1 seems so much trouble. Sharon does almost all her meals on bbq. Bet it’s yummy done on bbq.
Trying to decide if I want desert before supper or wait till after supper
Made the cakes thinner, will freeze one..thinner now watch me eat 2 pieces rather than one because they are thin lol
looks good!
Dianne - I haven't changed any meds. Been on the same one since I was 13, and after my other incident with blood clots in 2016, I quit them within 6 months. It's possible that the freezing I got on the 7th of June for my dental surgery caused it. I've mentioned it to a LOT of people and no one agrees with me. I know that on the 9th I got horribly sick with cold sweats when it was going through my system. Other than that...….. I found out that the dentist put it on my medical chart that I got anti-biotics after the dental surgery - I got NONE. Not before, or afterwards. And that's when my system started getting SO sick - bronchial cough & all.
Morning all,
Sunshine day, sipping my coffee inside but should be outside but wet and dampness gets to my bones..looked at weather forecast, need to get out and plant all those plants I got yesterday from Home Depot as most of the week is rain and/or high humidity. Checked the plants, thought it was 14 they gave me but turns out to be 16..all except bleeding heart and low growing which I need but where. Lol
Looking out I can see a zillion birds seeking worms.must check the feeders today..I also found that my 2 squirrels who are normally at front feeder haven’t been around in weeks, not seeing a lot of butterflies either. I remember as a kid you had to watch where you were walking, so many caterpillars but I haven’t seen any in years.
Susan, must tell you Rita was seeing Her doctor and specialist as they believed she was having TMI’s and a lot of other medical issues, had a tooth out and she is 100% cured, that being said, why could it also not be the cause of your illness.
Hard to believe it’s almost mid July, by the time I have holidays and the Ohio girls come summer will be over.
What are you all up to today?
Had good days at the dog shows, Best of Breed yesterday, Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday. But, it was so hot! Mid to upper 90's both days. I got a bit sun burnt on my shoulders, but all in all a good weekend!
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Susan.
Great news Debbie..more points for the furries, great achievement..
Wow that is hot, did they take breaks? Was the ring covered?
Took break from sewing, Ziggy not happy, not letting him in..he scratched the coffee table badly so I sanded it and put a coat of paint, stain and finish in same can, can’t have Ziggy trying to get on it and hair dry in the coat, will need another coat another day, will do it when it’s not raining and he can stay outside..once topmis done I’ll touch up other scratches...
We have company, I have breakfast dishes done, lunch ready and know what I'll do for dinner so I am headed out for a few hours to my sisters. I am not used to having this many people in my house, let alone kids. Good kids... but kids... at a strange house with LOTS of things to explore and get into.
Hurray!!! I'm going home tomorrow! The Dr came & said I could transition to Warfarin, and be here until the middle of next week, or go with the more costly drug Xarelto (?) and start taking it tonight and no longer need the IV & go home tomorrow morning.
Warfarin has dietary restrictions - no leafy green veggies EVER, and blood tests every week.
Xarelto (?) has NO dietary restrictions, no blood tests, and as it's similar to the Heparin IV I've been on, I just stop the IV and go on the pills!! AND the Dr phoned my pharmacy to see if Blue Cross covers me for it as it is a more costly drug - YES, I'm covered fully, under Senior's Benefits.
Pat, I am so with you. I am so used to being here alone with Vern, who did very little talking. After he died, so many friends and relatives came over and would not leave. After 3 days, on a Sunday at 4pm, I told everyone they needed to leave. I needed some alone time.
My sister is coming from Ventura, Ca for 3 weeks tomorrow. Her husband just died and she needs her older sister. My brothers will be dropping by for a visit but they do not stay long. They both live in Nevada and will probably drop by for a day.
I worked in the back landscape, Saturday, A little Sunday and big time today. I was running around like the energizer bunny. I wanted to get all of the debris I wanted hauled away, raked or swept into piles for the gardeners that got here at 1pm. I got an enormous amount done because I didn't have to pick it up. Only thing I forgot was to take a photo of the final piles.
African Sumac are very popular evergreen trees in the desert Southwest but when it gets hot, they drop their leaves. Not just a few but hundreds. So I am out there, right after feeding the pups, raking, cutting and sweeping. I worked over 2 hours, mostly in the shade of the Sumac and was very pleased with my finished job. Most please was the look on their faces when they rounded the corner and saw what I had for them to pick up and haul away. I also checked the irrigation and found a few problems. I will work on that after i walk the dogs this evening. They only got a short walk this morning because MOM was on a mission.
I have a DMV appointment to get my Real ID Then I will get my passport. Only two destinations are Mexico and Canada. I have no desire to go to Europe. I am going to take my sister with me. And when I come to Canada, I will drop in and say hello to all of you. First trip will be the train ride beginning in Vancouver and going East.
Susan, hope you are feeling better. Blood clots are so dangerous. Vern had 2 in a lung and one in a leg and kept complaining about a back ache. I kept telling him to take a Motrin. Wonder I didn't kill him. Forth day I took him to emergency and they found the blood clots. I would be a really good caregiver now because I learned so much from mistakes I made. Luckily, none of my mistakes killed him.
Karen, I know how much you love the visits from your grandchildren. Are the great-grandchildren old enough to visit yet?
Debbie, so pleased your dogs did so well. Heat will wear you out. And here it is a dry heat and your sweat evaporates and you are not aware. First thing, you are dehydrated and sick.
Debbie II, hope your kitties get better so you can join Betty and her friends on their adventure.
Betty, you are hopeless. You cannot slow down. But who am I to talk.
First photo is Juliette tomato, second photo, roses cutback by pool, third photo Champion tomato and forth is all the trimmings off the oleander bushes and roses.
Sharon, those were great grands who came to visit. Amelia is 7 and Lorelei is 2 1/2. My oldest great grand is in high school, he'll be a Junior this year. There are, let me see, 18 of them so far. Bet you didn't think I was that old. We have our 60th anniversary next year.
Goodness! Everyone has been so busy. Sharon your tomatoes are looking good.
Susan, good news you are going home tomorrow. Take it easy.
Karen, you are right. I did not think you were that old. What did you do, get married when you were 5. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.
Susan, Vern was on Xarelto for years. No side effect except for the insurance complaining about the cost. Our co-pay was $150 for a 90 day supply. Last year hospice (Medicare) would not supply it. Gave him baby asiprin.
I got my step-son on my Netflix account over the phone. He is not to computer friendly and I thought I was going to shoot myself by the time he got it. I told him great job and hung u and went outside and sang "When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high". Always my go to song when I need emotional help.
Susan..what good news for you. You will feel better being at home, I imagine.
Betty, Lovely pillow...we had a light rain overnight..it is cooler this morning so far. But the weather people say we are to get very hot and humid later on today.
Sharon, there is nothing like fresh tomatoes straight off the vine. I like to slice mine and put a little basil and on top and sprinkle with Balsamic vinegar.
Pat..you sound so organized. Good for you. Enjoy time with your sis.
Hi LindaKay. I see you live in Texas. My son and DIL travel in their trailer in the cold months and really enjoy Texas. They especially love San Antonio.
My neighbour fixed my wheelbarrow yesterday. It had rusted and the bolts holding the handles had pulled through the metal. I have had it for about 25 years. I want to clean it up and spray paint it today.
One of my prettiest daylilys bloomed yesterday Canadian Beauty. I took a photo but I have a problem accessing my Google photos to upload here. I will have to learn how to do it. I can access old photos but not ones from this year.
Have a good day everyone.
Cheers,
Carol
I live right on the Mexico border. Let's just say things are not like they used to be, with all the immigrants coming through. Our grocery stores, can't keep things in stock, because we have so many extra people in town. Not to mention, Dr office and hospital is swamped, trying to do urgent care on those crossing the border. A lot of them are in quarantine, because of the diseases they have. Measles, mumps, scarlett fever, TB and so much more.
San Antonio is 160 miles from here. It is a big busy town. Most of my Dr.s are there, and I enjoy shopping there, but I prefer my small town.
Afternoon, missed out on morning road call..
We had a thunderstorm and heavy rain during the night, clear this morning but clouding up so rain shortly.
Pat you are amazing, with all on your plate and you still have time to have company.
Sharon, Lordy that would be a trip of a lifetime..hopefully you will be in my region, able to visit or if a stop over I could meet up with you in the city.
LIndakay, how close to the border are you again? Have you ever considered moving closer to San Antonio seeing as you’ve family there and your doctors are there?
Carol lucky you having daylillies..I had a full garden many years ago, some so very fragrant then the daylily bug hit our region and ate them all..was told I can’t plant them ever again in my gardens..must check that out..wow that is one old have it fixed.
Last night 2 of the girls said highly unlikely the could do the roadtrip, this morning a maybe, so nerve racking...
We girls had visitors this morning..Ann came with grandkids Alex and Addy, they turned six a few weeks ago..Alex is a little timid,Addy will take on the world..she loved my chairlift! Miracle they are, even sick’ids on their last checkup said they couldn’t believe weighing under a point, having several heart operations, colostomy bags that they would have survived with little to no medical issues..
Our daily prayers for nearly a year were heard..
Feel like having a nap but I get a massage at 3 in Midland so best have a sandwhich to get me through til supper.
Just getting ready to leave, had a visitor, saw this person on a skateboard going way to fast..stopped at my drive, here it was Noah..bought a new electric board, $3,000. and goes 34 mph..told him it’s something to kill himself on..has remote that shows battery charge and mph..shaking my head, know i will be worrying about him.
Said he will be back tonight, maybe for tv bingo
Betty so awesome to see Alex and Addy growing up. We all worried and fretted about them for it seemed such a long time.
Grand kids will stir up your nerves won't they? It seems they take a particular pleasure in doing so.
Must be pay attention to Betty day..Ann and kids, Noah, then got a call from my mommy lol
Betty, yes that skateboard would scare me to death too!
Starrz, looking forward to pictures!
Susan, glad to hear you are on the mend. Home is always more comfortable once you are past the scary acute stage of anything!
The visit was so stressful and hard work, it's not that I "wanted" company. Given a choice I would opt out!! . I think I WILL GET A MOTEL for ME next time company comes. I did not need or want 7 more people. The 3 little kids were just being kids but not supervised adequately and I don't have a kid friendly home and NOT suitable entertainment for those ages.
Sim is Ben's "nephew" and the closest person to a son he has and is very close to him. Sim married a woman with 3 kids and they had 3 more. Sim came to work on the J10 pickup and take it home. They found more problems and he'll come back in a few weeks and trailer it home. I am praying he comes alone!
Ben was sick and not1 oz of help. I left work early today and came home to take a nap. I have my sewing meeting tonight and I do not have the quilt block done but think I'll go just so I don't have to stay here with Ben & caregiver. If she doesn't LEARN the job and quit asking me what to do next, I will have to find someone else. I just need some peace and quiet without Ben, or anyone else, calling my name for help.
Pat - you don't need to be at the caregiver's beck & call - it's Their job, not yours, so you're right to go take a night for "me" time.
I'm upset - after buying Xeralto, I've now been told it's NOT a drug that mixes well with my one & only current med - life threatening. Now, I have to go to town, to Emerg & get a tummy injection, return tomorrow to get my Warfarin (pharmacy is closed tonight) then return on Thurs for a blood draw. All because although they knew I would be taking the 2 drugs, they didn't realize the serious interraction. Until I get my Warfarin levels right, I will have to return for blood draws....
Plus side is, the pharmacy will take Xeralto back & may give me a refund.
A couple of my favorites right now. First is a Crepe Myrtle..the lilac of the south. best thing is the blooms last and last. They grow really big too. This one is a Black Flame. Thinking next year we will get more. They come in many colors.
Our banana tree. When we moved in Nov. we had no idea how to care for it. We asked around and were told that when it turns all brown to chop it down and so we did. The main trunk turned to mush over the winter and we figured it was a goner. It came back with a vengeance. We must have 16 or more have popped up. Thinking next year we won't allow that many to grow. We won't get bananas unless it stays very warm into Nov.. Still fun to have.
Karen, if you ever feel like digging one up, please let me know. I would love to have one.
Beautiful flowers everyone.
That crepe Myrtle is lovely.
Morning all, heavy rain through the nigh, so muggy out there, good day to stay inside. I looked at the weather radar and at least til lunch it will be overcast but bad news is it’s heading towards Carol and Dianne..not sure about Debbie’s neck of the woods.
Love crepe myrtle (?), wish I could grow it..your has such brilliant color. Wouldn’t that be something to be able to go out and pick your own bananas Karen..you have adjusted well to the move.
Susan, today you get to go home, Bob will be pleased.
Carol, am sure it must be soothing to walk through your gardens this time of year.
LIndakay, how are your gardens doing? Did you have any after affects of Barry?
I need to get out and do a bit of weeding, not so sure it will be today though as all is so wet. Tomorrow a sunshine day then 3-4 more days of rain, say due to Barry..must go back and see how bad it hit my New Orleans.
Noah had said he would drop in last night as he will be returning to the city today, I went to bed at 8 left door open and told him to give me a shout if I was in bed.
Saw on Facebook that Melanie posted how nice it was to be with her boys and Greg was making fire cooked pizza, I was pleased they were having a wonderful night..just went to get cream for my coffee and I found pizza slices in the refrigerator, guess I was in a sound sleep and Noah didn’t wake me and left pizza for me.
Noah..so thoughtful. I am loving the rain this morning. gardens really need it. ..and I need a rest. lol I over did a bit yesterday late afternoon. Achy today. I ordered a few things on the Amazon Prime Days. Received a couple of things yesterday. More coming today. Fun fun fun.
I have started to take a walk in the Samuel Wilmot Nature area occasionally. Saw a snapping turtle and the family of swans. First time I had seen them. I had been told they were there but usually walked later in the day. This was an early walk about 7:30 am.
Awwww love the swan family. We had a snapper about a foot wide come in the yard up north and lay eggs. We tried to watch but never did see if they hatched.
Linda I made my self a note. You do mean the banana? I'll bet they would get fruit down there.
Karen, LOVE the banana trees! Lovely foliage.
Starrz, I have been trying for 6 years to kill the Yucca plants out at our property line. We used a 4 x 4 in low range with a chain & pulled as many as we could. Filled the whole back of a truck and I've used chemicals over and over!! Yep, I still see a couple of starts! lol Beautiful flowers, your well garden is especially nice layout. What is the taller plant in the back with white blooms?
Susan, the pharmacist should have checked for interaction and put a stop to that immediately. Was it filled at a different pharmacy than YOUR regular store? THAT is part of the PharmMD's job. They know LOTS more about the medications and interaction than the Primary Care physicians.
Linda, I imagine the extra demands on ALL the town's resources has put a strain on things. The diseases would be especially worrisome.
Good morning everyone.
Waiting for the rain but it is muggy already. I put the AC on last night as it was getting hard to breathe.
Karen I love the 2 plants you showed. Wonder if I could grow Crepe Myrtle ?
Pat I can so identify with you about wanting to go a motel when you have visitors. I am not much for having people staying overnight. I grew up in a home that when you never knew how many people would be in the house when you woke up in the morning. My DB loved to have his teenaged friends over.My DM reveled it in.but me not so much. When we built his house Warren was insistent we not have a second bed.We compromised on a futon but he was like "don't tell anyone they can stay overnight" lol
Sharon I thought of you yesterday when I got home from grocery shopping.. I had bought some luncheon meat that I would never eat but Warren loved. So even after 7 years I still buy on occasion Warren's favourites.I hope you are sneaking in some restful times. Even if you don't feel you need it your body and mind sure does. Being a caretaker especially for as long as you had been takes it's toll physically, emotionally and mentally.
Oh no Susan !!! I was on warafin for several months and it was a pain in the butt. Everything I really like to eat - green leafy veggies and felt so deprived. The lab came here to do the blood draw because I lived too far from Ktown so I was lucky. Good luck with all the changes. At least you are home !!!
Betty I would love to wake up and find pizza slices in the fridge. I am such a light almost non sleeper and with the TH that would never happen. Noah is looking a lot like his dad isn't he ?
Carol that sure is a snapper. Could you smell it ? They stink ! I am watching the snapper nests that the raccoons didn't plunder for the baby turtles to make their way out. I often 'help' them to make their way to the water's edge as they have so many enemies who love to eat them. Usually around Days 50 - 60 they hatch. I don't remember that nature area - I lived in Bowmanville for a couple of years when I taught in Hampton.
Deb congratulations on your crew's wins.Sure was hot for you though.
What's everybody up to today ?
Got up tired and the bed looks inviting. The TH are sprawled out on it enjoying the AC on their bellies. I am waiting for a Rx to be filled in the village then will go in and come right home.
Stay safe, well and cool.

Afternoon, will be back shortly to read all your posts, Suzanne was on the phone for better than a 1/2 hour then joanne dropped for most of the morning and now I’ll have pizza for lunch then maybe do a bit weed pulling..in one week I can’t believe the growth..even all the perennial I got for nothing have come back to life big time.
Sent Noah a thank you, responded it wasn’t him, messaged Kyle and he said not he..called Greg, yep said he was on a ride on his spider around 9 and checked in on me,said I was sound asleep so just put it in refrigerator..’lunch on me he said, made with my own hands’ lol
Just got back from walking the TH. It felt extremely muggy. Checked the Weather Network and the temp is 77 but feels like 97. Yep no wonder the 3 of us were dragging. LK I don't know you do it !!
Pat..the tall plant at the back is Persicaria Polymorpha.
http://www.lakeregionnursery.com/perennials-1/persicaria-polymorpha
If you cut it right down to the ground it comes back really fast.
You have a great family Betty. They sure have all the "Boy Toys" I remember that Spider from before. The weeds will be easier to pull after all the rain. Watch out for the mosquitoes. :)
Karen....I didn't realize it was a Snapping turtle..just thought it was a bit ugly. My granddaughter who knows all about animals told me if I see it again not to get too close.
Kidneyguy If I remember right is your name Marilyn? What a nice thing to know that you know about this area. No, I couldn't smell the snapper..but I didn't watch him for long as I saw the swans out in the lake further down and took off to try to get a photo. What does TH stand for? I know it is what you call the dogs. I am doing laundry and other bits of housework. As Betty said good day for inside work.
Off to go get my Warfarin 😒
Pretty sure Crepe Myrtle won't survive in Canada. It's a southern plant.
You don't want to get too close to a snapper, They are fast and have a really long neck, can reach further than you think.
Betty I see a lot of you in Noah. Nice of Greg to bring you pizza.
Rainy day today, doing laundry and cleaning a bit downstairs. Started sweeping the laundry room and it just spread from there.
