from the house OUT to road. From road to house. the new mail box stand with the old mailboxes sitting on garbage can! Starting to put up new little section of picture fence and arch. You will see it's bent. It had been at my entry to patio until Ben fell and bent it all to heck. This is as straight as we can get it. JUST starting to work on it.

Random pictures of behind house, where the shovel is, that is where Rose of Sharon will get transplanted. Rose of Sharon blocking new door, I've already dug out one Knock out Rose and transplanted it (to left of the parlor chair, you can't see it).. I am in the midst of thinning perrineals, spraying weeding, and then will rock most of what you see as bare ground.

And you thought I forgot to FINALLY get pictures! LOL...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - the before/after pics are great - thank you for sharing :) I remember when you first made the post - I think it was white, to begin with?
Pat - also wonderful pictures!
Thank you both for sharing :)
I have some Before, but not ready to share the After lol
Today we had our community wide yard sale and so have some funds to do more with the yard :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, calling for high of 57, once the girls leave at noon know where I’ll be, my goal is to finish that bed and transplant the 30 perennials I bought a week ago, cut the grass, excited about that 🤣

Your back yard is to inviting Pat, can see me sitting on the pink bench looking at all the plants..surely you don’t have a lot left to do? You must be so pleased with what you’ve achieved.thanks for the photo’s.

Non gardeners don’t realize how many hours it takes to achieve the beauty they see.

Glad the sale went well Susan, extra $$ help..it’s so expensive isn’t it buying plants and hanging planters. No the post was always natural, signs are painted in different color sand names and mileage done in white.

I can guarantee I’ll need $400 to get what I need, wouldn’t be bad but I’m terrible with planters, a lot of them I have to replace by mid summer..not sure what I do wrong..Mel does well with hers, should tell her she has to maintain mine..maybe I will try a few Dipladenias

Need to get garbage to the road and by then I’m sure girls will be here

Gab later and keep the photo’s coming

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thank you for the kind words. The patio is to SIDE of house, all those later pictures are behind the house but I do have 2 cement benches out there I sit on and enjoy. The pictures look better than the real thing right now. SOOOooooo much weeding and all the grass that invaded the perimeter. I had hoped to get that all rocked last year but ran out of HELP.
Adam finally showed up after I was ready to leave. I showed him what I needed him to do and left. I was very disappointed that the ONLY thing he did was take care of the mess he had left when he had his wreaked Geo at the far end of the property. Today it is raining. Something tells me he is not coming today either. *sigh*

I REALLY needed Adam help with the mailbox project but ended up doing it by myself. The old platform had 4 2x4 reinforcements under it, all nailed in, that I had to take crow bar and hammer to. I always construct with screws. Oh well, it's not perfect but it LOTS better than the rotted plywood and split 2x4s that had been there PLUS painted a crisp white. All those rusted mailboxes replaced.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, I love your photos. You have been very busy with your home and gardening.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat, did you make the mistake of paying Adam before he did the work?? I’m sure it’s as lovely as the photos.

Girls just left so I’m going to eat then go out and finish the garden, I want to finish the bubble rock, cut grass and might even have time to sit out for awhile as I put the umbrella up amd set the cushions on the patio set..talk about bright..

Me bad, that big cement bowl that had a crack in it sat in secret garden, with mega effort I got it to the patio near pond and set those porcelain solar logs in in..think it will be nice at night, fire glowing but you know me, I’m always in bed before dark lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you moved that big cement bowl by yourself?!?! naughty Betty! Over doing again, m'dear.... You're right - non-gardeners have no idea the love, time, patience, and $$ that goes into gardening.
Right now, we need lumber & soil.... going to make a berm in the front, and also fill all the pots I have. I want to make an herb garden, so have a lot of digging & building to do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

If it were up to my boys Susan, they’d have equipment in to clean up the back yard, make it all grass...not yet they won’t!

Having chicken fingers and salad, thinking of having a picnic outside lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just finishing the bubbling rock area, little bit of weeding and transplanting..things are just coming out so don’t want to weed too much till I know what is weed/flower..you are all so far ahead of us, we are just starting to get leaves opening..
a hot soaking and feet up for me soon....didn’t get all done but did get most done..tomorrow is another day!!

So many times I've heard grown children try to tell their mothers that they have to give away stuff in their house, move to a senior's residence, do this or don't do that. and MAYBE sometimes this is right, but so many ties it's just kids being bossy "we know best". Sometimes it's just the kids being bossy lol

Had a good day - cloudy & overcast, but walked over to the Arena & got some stuff done, plus gave the $$ we earned from selling older library books yesterday at our Yard Sale (my house). $41.65 - by donation only. Not bad, and it was nice to pass that $$ over to the lady who organizes the Wellness Group in our little hamlet.
Found a place that sells topsoil, right here in the hamlet. Guy has a backhoe, etc. Would be cheap delivery I would think.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that looks so pretty. I agree, tomorrow is another day.
Good job on the sales Susan.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We are having strange weather. Cold, windy and rainy. We are normally in the 90s and we are barely making it out of the 60s. I have already trimmed the roses and geraniums of their first blooms.

With the rain, the snails have appeared. They love my succulents. I have already sent 100 to snail heaven. The first night was unbelievable. They were everywhere. The count has slowed down on a nightly basis. I go out with my flash light and throw some in the KOI pond and the rest just go bye-bye. I am usually out hunting when my daughter and her husband show up to help put Vern to bed. The first night when I was not in the house, they were worried I had fallen and hurt myself. I came around the corner of the house by the swimming pool and they were so relieved.

My tomatoes and peppers are loving this cooler weather.

Pat, your landscape is looking great. That is a lot of work. In my hunting for snails with my flash light I have found many areas that need soil added or something minor that I would not have noticed in the day light.

Betty, I have some cement pots and they are way to heavy to move. Your garden area with the new covers looks great.

Karen, so pleased your toe is OK.

Susan, great job on the yard sale and the money donated for the books. You have found your "Home:.

Betty, most families could live comfortably on what I spend a year on gardening. I have so many succulents that need to be divided and no time to do it.

Vern is holding his own. Eating good and usually in a good mood.

I came close to falling today. I just got moving to fast and got my feet tangled up. It was a good save.

I have a 3 short page list and just about every thing is done so I need to start another list.

Take care, be safe and happy.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sharon, you got your list DONE??? want mine?? LOL

I have taken several falls over the last few years. My most recent at work in our parking lot when it was icy, right in front of several coworkers. NOT a pretty sight!

I want ROCKS... about football size and I can't find a rock place that sells them other than by the pallet load... I need to finish the border around the picket fence area in front. guess I'll be haunting construction sites and asking if I can take some of their hands during excavation.

Sent the caregiver home with a whole box of perennials. She is happy camper.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sharon, we get snails to. I go out with an old coffee can with salt water. Find a snail and drop it in. Usually 40 to 50 a day when it rains. If I miss any, my German shepherd gets them she loves them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, chilly out there, sky is heavy, can feel rain moving in, think I’ll stay in my pj’s and putter around.

Wow Sharon, that is cold for you, will you lose any of your tropicals? Great news about Vern holding his own...not a wonder everyone was worried, out rambling with a flashlight. I too am finding a zillion snails, think they are snails, yellow/brown..I’ve been throwing them with the sod/weeds into back fourth, maybe I’ll get a container filled with water and do what you do..where do you cut your geraniums, hmmm after they bloom I always think that’s that,I too would like to revive. I can only imagine how much you spend in your yard, it’s so beautiful..one could live in the yard without ever leav8ng it except for shopping for more plants lol

In the cement containers I put some succulents, shallow earth and yet they endure out harsh winters...I’ve a few containers I bought that I must divide them and add to new containers, now where to put them 😜

I have a list for me, Jeff and Greg,mi can share with Sharon as well..I’m thinking if it rains this weekend I’ll hire that young man again and get the “to do’s” I cant do done.

Pat do you know I live in rock country, hard to believe finding some are an issue..
Wish we lived closer, I’d share my rocks for some of your perennials..

With the dampness hand are aching big time, Sharon reminded me of my hot was pot, just melting the wax and I’ll keep it on low and start waxing hands again..

Well, I’m going to look at satellite, if the heavy rains start later I’ll put a jacket over pj’s and go out and do a few things.

Feel a lazy coming on..that being said I’ll check out what wood pieces I have and do a cheery penny rug, projects like that are great sit on the couch and do type of projects.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My kids get me plants, they know it's what I prefer.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ill have to gently make that known lol

Reorganizing mysel in craft room and starting the reading pillow for Darlene..think we even have enough quilted pieces out of the materials she used from her last froggie, that would be nice

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I prefer live plants too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still in my Jammie’s, imagine I’ve the fireplace going in the living room, I’ve almost got the reading pillow insert done for Darlene’s nephew, although it’s been a lazy day I’ve drummed up enough energy to cook mashed potatoes, pork chops and made a salad..
Hope you all have been more ambitious than i

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes, we've found our "home" 😁💖
This is a good place to live.
I love the look of all your gardens & yards. My favourite part is that they are all as individual as you are. That's the best part 👍

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Parts of our region are a rocky nightmare. Our house on Victoria st, my poor kids had to hand dig the window egresses for basement windows. There were more rocks than soil. NOT here... but I dig up rotted wood everytime I dig in the "wilderness" area. We designated different areas by the growth when we bought this place. The wilderness was so overgrown with trees, dead shrubs and felled trees, you could not see into it. "the Jungle" was waist high but no trees. I took about 20 tomato cages & piles of rose cuttings etc out of the :jungle. You would never know that now!

RATS coudnt' find the before pics. This is wilderness now.

Morning all, thunder off in the distance, light rain so again an inside day..

Is that the area you need more boulders Pat where the irises are?
Wonder how many of us actually sit outdoors and enjoy the garden areas we work so hard in maintaining? Rarely do I sit, try to but then my eyes start oozing around at something that just has to get done lol

June and I are working on the “Day at the Lake”:quilt top..#3 section has about 150 pieces so finishing my hot chocolate then think I’ll start tracing and cutting paper pieces, between that and completing Darlene’s pillow these projects should keep me busy for the the day.

LeVes are opening and grass is growing, sure is getting green out there..unlike you all, no flowers...big sigh

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well...haven't told family yet. Told them I want to go out to dinner tonight and will tell them then. I will message the rest of the gang later this evening.
Today my oncologist told me I have no markers for CML and didn't last visit either. He said he cannot use the word cure as yet because it's all so new they just don't know. He said if I have a year of tests ..every three months...and nothing changes, he will try stopping my chemo drug. I will still have to be tested for a while to see if the readings stay the same. If it changes, I would have to go back on the drug but best case, I would not.
This has not been an ordeal, The cancer was discovered almost by accident. I have no bad reactions to the chemo drug. I've always felt a bit guilty because the drug is very expensive but there has never been any cost to me. Insurance has paid most of the cost and I have a grant that pays the co-pay. The drug is over $10,000 per month and the co-pay nearly $600. I feel if I no longer need the drug, the grant money can go to someone else who needs it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do get Karen, you did not say you had cancer??? Lordy what an overwhelming thing to deal with, that and the move...and here I’m complain8ng about body pain..shak8ng my head..that does sound like positive news doesn’t it.

Went to town and did some groceries, got chicken pot pie right out of the oven and sitting there near the counter was a fresh banana cream pie, thought $10 was a bit expensive but I sure could feel my mouth watering so it had to come home with me.

I just have to sew dar’s pillow together and make pillow insert and that project is done.

I also got about 1/2 the tracings cut for the next panel, now that the sun is showing its head I’m trying to decide if I want just to relax or give myself a kick and go cut grass or finish sewing the pillow..my guess is the couch is looking much too comfy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, that's awesome news. Praying all your future testing comes back negative.

90 here today. Humidity 64%. Feels like 101.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes that is a hot one Linda play..how do you fill your day when it’s that hot

Off to get Dr.Ho then bed

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Pat, just bring a semi to Nevada. There are boulders here every size or color you would want. Some areas you cannot remove but some areas you can take all you want. But you could probably find some closer by.

Betty to dead head a geranium, you follow the bloom stem down to the branch it came off of. You just cut or break it there. I break it but maybe you should cut until you get used to it because the main branches break very easy. After a bloom and deadheading I feed mine. Some of mine are enormous because they live through the winter here. They get spindly but I cut them back and feed and when the warmth hits, they take off.

Karen, I am so pleased your tests are showing such positive results. That is truly a blessing. Your family will be so pleased.

Linda, we are 20 degrees below normal. Our high today was in the mid 60s. Rain in the valley and snow in the mountains. But at least the wind is gone.

I have many succulents I need to cut back and propagate. I can do that in the house as long as I lay down a large sheet of plastic for everything to fall on. Easier said than done with 2 dogs and 2 cats.

If Linda is like me, when it is hot, you just follow the shade around the house. And you plan your landscape with trees to shade your home and landscape. My neighbors pine trees give me a lot of debris to deal with but they also give me beautiful shade. I couldn't grow plumerias here if I didn't have all the shade from the greenbelt, neighbor's and my trees. But that is why I have so many plants in pots because the tree roots just take over the soil and strangle any other plant trying to grow in it.

Betty, tropical plants are OK and plumerias are starting but slow. Just about everything is over a month behind. My tomatoes are loving this weather but looks like I will not get any oranges.

I have to start Vern some dinner. Nurse came yesterday and she was wearing a white medical overcoat. He went sideways into a full blow panic. I believe he thought she was with an ambulance. She walked away and I got him calmed down. Then I had to sit by him all the time she was in the room. She ordered and I now get a CNA 4 times a week. Before it was once a week. That helps the caregiver I pay because it is getting more difficult to get him out of bed and into the shower. He loves his shower and I do not want to stop that until we have to do so.

Susan, so pleased the home nightmare is behind you and you two are having such a wonderful time in your new area.

I will return. Hugs, Sharon Picture is Peanut sitting under an umbrella placed over a concrete pot. If it rains, the drain off of the roof fills the pot and it is heavy to tilt to drain. It was suppose to rain today but nothing.

Betty I have a chronic leukemia. At the outset I was told it doesn't get cured, I would have to take the Chemo drug the rest of my life. The drug was fairly new when I started on it and not much was known as prior to this there was no drug to treat it so people died. Now they are finding a few cures here & there but again it's all a new learning experience. It's what my Dr. said today, they just don't know different people are having differing reactions.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Please understand I haven't talked about this over the years because I have been very fortunate. I simply take a tablet once a day as my chemo drug. I have had no after affects from it. I haven't had any bad affects from the CML ( Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) either. Many people suffer greatly from cancer and the treatments. I have not and I am aware how fortunate I am. If I'm lucky enough and I do achieve a cure, it will be great. If I do not and have to continue the drug. I will still be OK. I love you all and again thanks for all the good wishes.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, overcast but it’s not raining so that’s a plus...
I need to get out and do as much as I can today as they’re calling for rain it seems for forever. Not a wonder you can’t get caught up with Yard today when it rains almost every day but today is the day I’m going to try out that new lawnmower.

In the knees each morning when I do my walk about just how much the plants have grown and the trees getting fuller with leaves. I’ll be happier though when you start seeing colour versus just seeing green but then green it’s better than white lol

Sharon I’m happy about getting a planting bench, I did the recovering of Darlene‘s patio set and now the reading pillow for her nephew for his birthday so she has gathered and cut from what I brought the wood for this project. She is trying to figure out the best way to get that zink In so I have a place to set the plants on while I’m working with them I’ll be able to wash the soil out because it has a hole in the sink so I just have to have the hose nearby.....I can just see your furry when you’re in the house working with dividing of plants, I’m sure they think it’s play time! Thanks for the information on the geraniums, I’m hoping if I get some of my work done this morning and early afternoon that I’ll be able to get out and buy some plants and of course some geraniums and potato vines in pots. With the weather still cool I worry about them not doing well but if I don’t to mind them I might as well forget about it as the summer will be gone.

Aaron you are indeed blessed, miracles do happen and it seems you’re part of it. What wonderful news and I’m sure it will continue during your future check ups. You’re not overdoing at the new house are you with the gardens?

Best I get dressed before I get lazy and get back to cleaning that one garden and cut grass come inside work can wait until tomorrow when it rains.

Trade you my weather for your weather, any takers

Betty, I sew, when it is too hot for gardening.
Sharon, we have two Arizona ash trees, but hardly any shade from them. We have claliche soil here, it is like concrete. All my flowers are in raised beds.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening, going to have A piece of pie then a hot bath and an early night. Funny how just going to town and doing groceries tires one out!

Maybe it was all the visits to all the gardening centres that did it lol

I bought a white lilac tree, should’ve bought two so if I’m in town over the weekend I’ll pick up another one, but several perennials, don’t know about you but we pay like 12,99 to 15,99 for a plant, is that comparable do you?also got a beautiful planter container for $34.99 with dipladenia in it, gave it near the pond. Also bought a goats beard but it’s nothing like the ones I have...very frilly so anxious to see what it will look like.

I dropped in to see Darlene and John, they were looking at the material and trying to figure how what to do with it..they just sent me a photo, said if it doesn’t rain they will deliver it tomorrow..

Beautiful table.

Our hanging pots are $12.99.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Most of our hanging pots start at $20. The one in my picture that is large, yellow, pink & orange was $25.00. the flowers I planted in the barrell with the whirligig, 1 sweet potato vine $3.49, two wave petunias, (pack of 6 for $10), 2 more annuals at $2 and the purple flowers I can't remember.
the pink chair was 2 'drop ins" (draping bright)@ $10 each, 2 wave petunia, potato vine, total just under $30. If I took another picture today you would see the growth and 'settling" in already!

Rain is in the air, guess it’s an inside day..

Beautiful Pat, that chair will be a highlight for sure once those trailers start to perform. I have a little planter chair I made about 20 years ago sitting in secret garden, never plant it because nothing grows in it because it’s all shaded, should take it out and set it somewhere, love the look of yours

I’d say then our prices aren’t too out of line with yours, thought maybe they were.i need 8 hanging baskets, someone told me in fesserton there is a small flower shop that has beautiful hangers, might take a run this morning.

Was sunny when I got up at 5:45 but the clouds are moving in. Keiran my young garden buddy starts today. We will just work at getting the yard and gardens ready to plant.Sounds like our weather is going to be like yours Betty.

I have been having vicious vertigo attacks this last month. I hate losing whole days because I can't move around.

Chaos was beside himself yesterday... he lost his stuffy Hippo. He is fascinated with Hippos and loves to watch them on TV ads and You tube. I found it when I went to bed last night. It was hidden between my pillows. So I don't know if Chaos hid it from Diesel or the other way around.

Plants here are more expensive than both your Betty and Pat..... plus there is slim pickings. I'll have to get into Ktown early next week and see what they have to offer. Hanging plants run from $15.99 to $25.00

Betty is this the weekend your boys come to to tackle your list ?

Better get off of here and start my day,

Stay safe and well.

Pat you have been busy..... things look great. I like the nightstands.
