Here's our Spring morning...no end in sight.

Seems we are all having same weather..spoke to Sherry in and she was gardening..big sigh, our time will come.

Maybe the agent will arrange another showing next weekend Karen and yes, long way to drive in a storm..must be interested though to come that far..

Darlene amd John on their way home, told them to maybe stay somewhere more southerly for a few days, anxious to have her home again.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

While cleaning the closet yesterday (and a little bit through the bedroom too!) I found an old family ring from my previous marriage. Thinking to send it to my daughter, I put it in the jewellry cleaner, then was wiping it down (NOT over the sink, but near) and it fell out of my fingers, and down the drain! Being gold, it isn't magnetic, and when my DH tried to open the sink trap, it may be glued, cuz he can't open it. Then he tried 3 pipe wrenches, and doesn't have an appropriate size!! Seriously bummed out!!!
Especially as her dad passed away in November, I'm sure she'd like to get it.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Hope you can get the ring, Susan.

Cold and rainy here today. Back yard is mud, dogs keep
bringing in big clods of mud on their feet. Supposed to go to a dog show tomorrow, but really don't feel like grooming, and then trying to keep a dog clean. More rain tomorrow here, and at the show site. Need to get myself motivated!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Not sure what Bob's going to do. Apparently the previous owner glued the sink trap, and Bob would have to cut the pipe, retrieve the ring, and put a new trap in. I'm still waiting to hear from him if he will do this.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats susan that is not good..here is hoping it can be retrieved seeing it’s a keepsake your daughter would love.

Deb, after listening to sharon last week about dogs and mud I can just imagine how much work you’d have to do to get them ready. Maybe it means you get to relax through this one..was it a show you would gain more points?

Storming like crazy, spaghetti finished simmering..letting it cool amd see I’ve no baggies to divide the sauce in to freeze..have to see what other method, hmm maybe the containers left over from chinese..

Been playing with penny rug..joanne only gave me enough for 4pennies to see if I like it, wish I’d have a whole kit as I’d have one made by now..guess I’ll be buying wool fabric or looking for blankets, shirts, pants at sally Anns and such

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It was 105 yesterday, today was 80. Gardens are starting to wake up. I will get some pictures tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, winds up, lots of blowing..plow just went by, sure hope Andrew didn’t take plow unit off his truck thinking winter was over because I won’t get out till it melts. They say today will be worse, freezing rain.

Lindakay, although this is disastrous, thought grass would be turning green, flowers power their heads out I don’t know I’d want your 105, nope..you are housebound as well as we are I would imagine.

Making a coffee then will brave elements and see if I can Fido the steps and walkway to basement..if to slippery it will have to stay till spring melts it,

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got the steps and walkway to basement done, just finished doing it, decided I’d try and move car so if Andrew came he could get a better go of it, got stuck.

Andrew is in Mexico but his brother knew a few of Andrews clients so did me, he shovelled a bit and I got out..note to self, no getting winter tires off until May from now on..

Wondered why the big town plies weren’t on the row, just smaller ones, seems the company they contracted to went bankrupt so with an easy March they hoped they could wing it until next winter when new contract is issued.

Coffee time again as last one is cold

Glad I have nowhere to go.

My godson Paul’s chainsaw carving yesterday..

Another day of staying in here for us. I even told hubby to not go get the Sunday paper. I can live without the puzzle this week.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just talked to Darlene, they are in northern part of Ohio, told her to find hotel near a shooing mall and spent at least today..

Yep good day to stay in..I should get off the couch. Lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob cut the sink trap off, retrieved the ring, and an earring I lost there in March! Now I can send the family ring to Michelle :-)
Heading off to church - need to take the 3 Prayer shawls I made - one of our ladies needs to receive one.......... She fell & is all banged up & bruised. Nothing broken, thank goodness. She's in her 80's and a fall is never good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hurrah for Bob..did you keep the other earring?

Poor soul, here is hoping she isn’t the worse for wear..a.m. sure she will live the prayer shawl..kind if you to make them.

Was heading downstairs, went to get something under the zinc, omg couldn’t go one more day without cleaning it so no downstairs..

Off to make salad, will make enough for supper to go with spaghetti..maybe I should bake some rolls..

With being housebound this weekend I seem not to be able to concentrate on anything..if nothing else I’ve got corners cleaned..working my way towards back bedrooms.

Big yawn, maybe I will have lunch and just have a nap

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Decided against going to the show today. 34 degrees and rain, lots of accidents reported on the radio, decided I didn't need to go to the show that bad. At least I've still got one clean dog!

Just having a quiet day, this rain is supposed to turn to snow overnight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are home Deb, wondered if you had gone. Sometimes it’s just nice to relax..

Not sure why I’m feeling nauseated, fighting it all day..maybe toast and hot chocolate vs spaghetti is a better option.

Wicked out there, been thinking of those who are homeless, wish I could share my heat.

Talk about bored, cleaned under zinc, found some earrings, decided to put them in their color bin, how they all got disorganized is beyond me..seeing I’m the only one who lives here guess it’s me making the mess..all color coordinated now.

Need to restrain the wood turntable

Beautiful carving.
Please be careful for those of you in bad weather.

Victoria Harbour, ON

seems to be getting worse, calling for much the same tomorrow, wow wind is just a howling.

“M” was hoping to leave in the morning for Thunder Bay after her and lirna’s Visi to her mom’s..hope she gives it a few extra days..would be a white knuckle drive.

Yawning, maybe I’ll get comfy in bed and do crossword puzzles.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - stay nice & cozy warm inside. Don't want you getting sick. Are you still feeling nauseated? I understand how you must feel about homeless. We are lucky to be living as we are.......
Yes, I kept the mate to the earring. I don't throw much away lol
That's a really nice turntable! Is that for jewellry?
We're supposed to be getting some more snow, but I think the worst of it is to the west of us. By the end of the month it's supposed to get Springtime warm. Will believe it when I see it........

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

btw - today's Job Jar......... cleaned my craft cupboard, and because I cleaned the bedroom closet, I actually have shelf room to put bins of material! I found a button bowl, and a bunch of buttons in a plastic bag. Put them all in a nice be-ribboned box

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all.. still freezing rain, changes to rain and back to the ice...
No school today for sure, kids will be pleased, another stay inside job for sure.

Susan you sure are cleaning up corners like I am, maybe we are the messy ones lol

Not sure what I will get up to, have washroom closet to do but that is an easy one then pick a project in craft room.

Hope you are all out of this storm but if you are stay inside,be sage

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got to love Plows, glad I’m not planning to go anywhere

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I realize the plows are busy but it would better if they stayed away then making the mess they did. Hubby keeps having to push stuck people.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I’m please to say drive has been open NOT that I’m going anywhere but just feeling better in an emergency I could..

Are you on a main road Karen or down a lane way? Guess poor plow guys are damned if they do and damned if they don’t..

Just sat had coffee, made a schedule of the days Joyce and the girls will be here , activities, outies and meals..need to be prepared.

Looked at the ice on back staircase and decided not to go get wood for the tree craft we are doing, will wait.

Is the storm keeping you in Karen?

Waiting to hear from Darlene, knowing them they would get antsy and keep driving through this to get hom..here Darlene picked mid April to come home from Florida saying no snow Md better weather 😮

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We've had heavy snow, then it went light, now it's heavy again. Places where we had grass showing are now totally snowed in. I hear it's very icy out, and I hadn't planned on going anywhere.
We don't have people regularly plowing - it's done by the property managers but the roads aren't very nice anyway. There are potholes all over, and it slopes from the center (for water drainage) and it's a large slope. Maybe our new owners & new property managers will fix it. I sure hope so. The entrance is always nice & clean, but that's where the old property managers are moving from & new ones moving in. The new ones currently live on our end of the Park, and they know what the roads are like. Hopefully they will get the roads properly cleared next winter. They take over May 1st.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope there are great changes for you when new owners take over..mega changes means more $$$ though

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are actually past the end of the county road. Agreement has been for over 30 years that plow can turn around in our circle but needs to keep us plowed out too. Otherwise plow would have to back up the road for nearly a mile. No good place top turn around. We are understanding when there is a heavy snow and don't mind waiting, however this year driver has an attitude and is making a big mess of things. This happened a few years back with a driver and we had to have his boss come see what a mess he had made. We park out of his way as much as possible and try to keep the area clear so he can turn around easily. Time to remind them that emergency vehicles need to be able to turn here also.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They should be going out of their way to accommodate Karen

Getting foggy

Just spoke to Darlene, she made it home about 3

Greg just dropped in, did my steps, was telling me a bus load from here went to Myrtle Beach golfing, one of the men from town didn’t wake up..

Grantsboro, NC(Zone 8b)

I learned some of my old friend are still here and I will try to post more. I am so ready for spring and most of the see I started in Feb have died because of cold temps. I am usually planting around 1st of March but not this year.
Lavina

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you found us Lavina..disappointing isn’t it when you think all the pretties are ready to give you pleasure only to find them damaged by the cold.

With so much snow the only shrug/tree I see damaged is my weeping pussywillow
As it’s bent from ice

Going to be a long night, sump pump coming on every minute, sometimes less

I’m so done with this worry

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Lavinia - nice to see you again. It's been quite awhile. Sorry that your plants didn't make it. Worked hard on them, and the cold was too much!
Betty - how sad that the one fellow just didn't wake up.... and away from home, too. I hope that someone that was close to him was there, not just casual friends.
Glad that Darlene made it home, safe & sound.
In spring cleaning, I've been finding pictures. Here's a "flash from the past" - my mom, grandma & me, in 1965 (year before my grandma passed away).

Sounds like the roads are still icy.please be careful.
Love the photo Susan.
Welcome back Lavina.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, set garbage out to roadside, not sure they will come today being a day behind but saw others do so sooo did same..could hardly make it as it had a sheet of ice on the snow, not good so I cancelled the fpgirls, no sense taking a chance them falling.

They say more snow in forecast. Grrr. Pumps working every 2 minutes and it’s not even melting outside so I hate to think of what is to come..was a long night monitoring.

Lindakay, how is the group of quilters you joined? What are you working on?

Karen, roads better your way?

Dianne , Debbie, Deb you ok?

Tad tired but going to forge through the day..today was front closet day..trying to figure out how many coats one should have, basement closet is full and so was the upstairs closet, bye bye to eight pairs of shoes, guess it’s purge time.

Found a bag of specialty wool and embellishments, think a few years ago I was go8ng to make necklaces. Lol. I’ll set it aside for June.

Love the old photo Susan, it’s to be cherished, I’m sure your daughter will shed a tear or two when she gets the ring and photo’s..amazing what you find when you clean closets and corners

Can you tell me why I need this?? It sings, it moves and it’s ugly. Lol

Supposed to be VFW sew day. going to go as I haven't heard otherwise. If no one there, we have a bit of running to do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know you enjoy going to that class Karen, hope they are there..sure missed going to my machine embroidery class last Sunday, haven’t heard if it’s been rescheduled.

Careful of the ice, no falls.

Taking a break, need to push myself to get up, the not sleeping last night zapped me of some energy.

Sad moment this morn8ng, while cleaning closet found Sailor’s neck band, some of her balls..sure miss her

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

*Gentle Hugs* Betty - I know you shed a tear when you saw the neck band & toys.
OH - blanket wool (drool) - it's what I make prayer shawls from, when I have some. The other - is that eyelash yarn or that other yarn people make those twirly scarves from? I have some of that, and believe I'm going to sell it at the Yard Sale next month.
Today's crafting, and I'm going to take my prayer shawl to work on. Hope to have it done by Sunday to take to church.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is what I have to go looking for Susan, will order some wool swatches 18x20 in different colours. For larger background I’m hoping to get yardage..think I’ll go to a few places like value village to see if I can find 100% wool item, shirts, blouses and pants maybe..not quite sure what to find.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

100% wool? Aren't most yarn product polyester or something else? I understand there are more & more people allergic to wool.

Victoria Harbour, ON

This is yardage susan not balls of wool

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

JoAnn's is clearing out their Accuquilt items at 30% off and will no longer carry them. I got a couple mats, always handy to have, but didn't find the die I would have liked to get, the small Rag die.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I have that one Karen, never used it..
Drats..think they know I don’t go anymore andgetting rid of all and selling them for 30% off dang would have bought some
