Prayers going out to the families of those shot and those who lost their lives in California!
Susan enjoy your craft day, did write a long post and then Ann dropped in, must not have pressed send.
Cancelled the girls today, instead I'm in my Jammie's, have a 4:30pm perm appointment, wondering if I should cancel or make an effort and get it done.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today, visit with friends old/new..join in all welcome!
Betty - you're still feeling pretty rough, eh? I hope you get some rest - and that you'd cancelled your perm appointment. You sound like you've overdone, and that it's taking awhile to bounce back.
Crafting was alright - a couple of the ladies were willing to try the paper crafts, but of course they had brought their own crafts. They did, however, take home some paper & instructions to do some of them, and the glue gun roses. I'm glad to be able to pass on some new crafts on.
Was nice if you to share your knowledge Susan..
Yep under the weather..notmsick just pain, did get a perm and feel human again.
Sure hope you get some sleep Betty.
Morning all, overcast and 80% rain today...
Bed is really comfy, was awake good part of the night with pain in the butt..know I'm a pain in a butt but seems I've double the dosage. Do like my bed!
Called greg, still problems with furnace, will have him recommend someone to come, sure needs to be fixed..new furnace, maybe 3 years old so shouldn't be something major but who knows.
Joanne said she might drop in and work on her snowman, wood piece with socks, think we did him, I've several left over, should paint along with her and have extra Christmas gifts, the girls come to sew tonight so full day, am hoping to put the kits together to mail out to you all..none of the flat rate boxes will work, do you know of any other boxes they use that I could bag kits up and set hem in boxes at post office Friday?
Betty - glad you like your bed. Maybe now, when you're used to it, you'll get some more sleep!
Hooray - baby blanket is finished, so now I can get onto reading this ever-so-large pocket book I got from the library. It's a 3 week rental, and 1 week's gone by. It takes 2 1/2 weeks to read this tome - book 2 of Outlander.
Betty, have you tried the large envelopes the post office has? I don't know if they are flat rate. The are made out if a plastic type material but really strong.
Maybe just get some brown paper and wrap them?
Post office has a thin long box, maybe that will work?
They would work but because of glue'ing the pieces together I didn't want to worry about damage..I'll tell you I sure got creative lol
Need to go get some brown wrapping paper and tape so I can finish getting them ready
Send them flat, we can glue them.
All packed up..girls just left, think I'll have the last piece of lemon meringue pie then head to bed.
Tonight was nice - went to a Volunteer Forum in the next town (same county), and learned about Colors (it's an American company, so spell it without the "u" we're used to). It was very good. We're (generally) are divided into Blue, Green, Gold & Orange according to our speaker. The dinner was delicious, and the interactive workshops were great. I'm a Blue, which means that I have to work especially hard to work with the other colours, although it takes all of us to perform well (as in all aspects of life, right?).
Right now I'm knitting a rug - chocolate brown, tan & teal (in that order, but different stripe widths) with chunky wool. We need some rugs around the house, and I need to cut down my stash lol
Sending healing wishes to Karen this morning and hoping her pain is lessening....
Gentle hugs....
Morning all, rainy day in my neighbourhood today, good day for watching Christmas movies..
Thoughts and prayers are also with Karen, hoping she updates soon, worried about her.
Susan, mwouldnt knitted scatter rugs be slippery for you? The colours sound nice.
Just got a call from Linda, she has been working on getting insurance for USA and finally got it last night so we are 3 amigos shuffling off to Buffalo tomorrow..I'm thrilled, was disappointing she couldn't get insurance for our roadtrip this summer so this is great news.
Slept well last night, bed sooo comfy, didn't get out of it until 8 am this morning, oh happy days.
wondering what I will get into today
You need to rest for your trip.
Glad to hear she got insurance for the trip.
Not really doing much, took out a few things I want to do but need fabric for each of them big sigh
Yes Linda was thrilled
Have to go to midland today seeing I need tape and paper to wrap these pkgs, I cut up the flat rate boxes brought home with me last time I visited so each has to be wrapped
I'm home finally, but oh the pain. This is every bit as painful as I had feared it would be. I have some meds but not much relief. Dr says I should be on the downhill side early next week. Mostly now trying not to move anymore than I have to.
Karen glad you are home but feel badly for you re the pain.
They do say shingles can be brought on by stress, not sure about that but if so do do do relax..no looking after the young ones, it's all about healing time for you.
Were you having the gang for Thanksgiving?
So glad to read that you are home Karen. Sure wish there were something we could do to help with the pain. Keeping you in my prayers for quick healing.....
Baby is heading downstate so I'm not a threat to her. I don't know about Thanksgiving as yet. Dr said this should be better by early in the week. Rough night last night, up and down a lot and pacing trying to deal with this. Not all that happened was due to Shingles. I'm thinking the high readings with the diabetes is what caused the rest of it.So far that hasn't been addressed but pretty sure it will be soon.
Anyone who has had Chickenpox is a target for Shingles. As many as one in three. I'd urge all to get the vaccine as soon as possible. Ask about a newer vaccine that is coming out. It's one I may be able to have. You can bet I will, can't bear the thought of going through this again.
I had the shot a few years ago, I will ask about the new one.
Karen I hope the pain goes away soon for you. I agree with you about getting the shingles shot. It cost me $40.00 . I was scared I would have a severe reaction to it as I had such a bad case of chicken pox but didn't happen.(((Karen)))
Cold but sunny day here. Might have to break down and start the wood stove.
Safe travels Betty.
Dianne and her TH
Good morning,
Karen my heart hurts for you. That is such a painful thing. Get better!!!
Betty, when and where on Saturday? It doesn't have to be Cracker Barrel, you tell me I will be there What ever is easier for you and the girls.
DH hit a deer on Wednesday night. Totaled the car I am sure, but has a rental thru our insurance company til we can find out if it is fixable or not. Not so sure what will happen if not. Thankfully no one hurt.
Everyone stay warm and safe.
Debbie
Insurance will pay you the fair market value for your car if it was totaled. If not, they will give you a check for the repairs. Some insurance companies will send the check to the garage, once the repairs are done.
Karen .. hang in there, day by day it'll get better. DH had them all up the left side of his back .. that was y ears ago, and, the area still pains him from time to time.
There's kind of a waiting period for having the vaccine after you've had shingles.
My Auntie Gladys passed early this morning, she was 102, one of my Mom's younger sisters .. there were 5 girls (Mom the oldest) and 2 boys.
Including a pic .. my Mom is top left, Gladys is bottom left ..
Stay well
~M~
Sending prayers and condolences "M".
Any word on Lornas new leg?
Work on the new socket starts in January .. a NEW prosthetist who is gung ho :-)
Quite excited for the work to start, would have been earlier, but, the holidays are too close, the shop closes down for 2 weeks .
Thanks for asking LK :-)
~M~
I am sure she is out shopping.....
But Betty update me when you can.
M - condolences to you and your family. 102 WOW!!!
Marilynne, So sorry about the loss of your aunt. I have my mothers two sisters yet and two cousins in WV. I'm considered one of the old ones now too. Imagine.
I have heard there can be after pains. I'm hoping I can be approved for the new vaccine. See my oncologist soon and can find out then. I'd pay a lot to not have to worry about getting this again...which I've also been told can happen.
Marilynne - sorry about your aunt's passing - 102 though - Wow oh Wow, the stories she could tell eh?
That's Right........ Thanksgiving Day for my Southern friends - on the 23rd, right? yum Turkey day! I'm so looking forward to having turkey for Christmas!
Betty - you asked about the rug, in another thread & I forgot to answer. I'm going to put something on the bottom of it so it won't slip, but it just going under Bob's desk and he won't be walking on it. I shouldn't think slipping will be an issue.
Betty arrived in Buffalo, was heading to bed about 9:00. Will see how things are going in morning.
Betty, was referring to the rain for Sharon driving from Canada, not me. I will be there.
Glad she got there, safe & sound.
Also glad you'll be there. Hope Sharon's drive is good & the rain isn't an issue.
"M" sorry to hear about your Aunt's passing..Lordy 102, still doesn't make her passing any the less painful.
Great news about Lorna, won't she be in 7th heaven when she gets her new leg.
Morning all, rained earlier, we did a lot of shopping yesterday, this morning already put in a few hours at Walmart.
Sharon should be here in 1/2 hr then it's off to meet debbie, have breakfast at IHOP, Christmas tree store and Joanns

Enjoy your shopping Betty, I know you will over do it, but be careful.
I know Debbie will keep an eye on her. But whether Betty listens and heeds what Deb is saying is another matter.
ahem....... since when has Betty listened to Anyone? ummmmmm that would be NEVAH! lol sorry Betty - had to speak da truth!!
Betty is on her way back home by now. Weather wasn't too bad so hope it holds off.
Had a great time with them all.
Just got in, what a blizzard from Barrie home, wasn’t fun but a, now home safely, taking a bath and to bed.
I am too tired right now to chat but I caused a lot of trouble for debbie and Paul, darn I’m stupid..
Story telling tomorrow!
Welcome home, Betty - glad you made it, safe & sound!! Rest easy
Glad you made it home, I hope you got some rest.
Morning all, tad of freezing rain and now snow, glad my plow man has been but I’m not taking the roads..did shovel pathway to basement door and car so all caught up with my chores.
Couldn’t find a bag with birdhouse and cardinals, want to make the 2 lanterns today but not sure the pieces I bought will fit in, have to see.
Omg, poor debbie, we met up at the Christmas store, went for breakfast, she patiently waited while Sharon and I shopped at joanns, that takes a lot of patience I’ll tell you.
Before she left I gave her the box of this year’s Christmas project and 8nckuded something for her, as well I had seen a mug that I’m sure was meant for her so when I grabbed the what I thought was the mug I put in the ifit watch I had bought ..
So she and Paul offered to meet me at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, was to be my treat for their generosity of bringing me the watch, got to Cracker Barrel Sunday morning and Debbie ran in and said she had to leave, Shannon had a bad migraine so debbie and Paul were taking her for treatment..all that way for a blasted watch!!!
Thanks Debbie and Paul, hope Shannon is better today.
Oh by the way I mailed my Santa Warren gift out while at post office on Friday..would think you will get it this week!
