Morning all, grrr see attached photo to show what is coming..

All excited, got my name from the TH for the Santa Warren Exchange..now time to get putting myosin together..mailing out Nov.18th.

I've all but a few totes of Christmas decor to bring in then the trees so I'm thrilled it will be decorated before I'm knee deep in snow as it's a long trek in the snow.

I've dusted, vacummed and washed floors this morning so I've some me time..

having a local odd job gentleman who says he will be here at 11 to take down my bed and set it up in spare room, let's hope he shows up..he also does trips to the dump so will ask him if he wants $$$ for a load before snow comes today..

Had some bad news, sharon let me know her daughter Nikki, in her 20's may need
to be put on a kidney transplant list..Sharon's beside herself

Sorry to hear about Nikki, so young to be sick like that.

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, so scary for Sharon and Nikki prayers for sure!

Yes we have warnings starting this afternoon for high winds, freezing rain, all turning to snow by morning.

Might head to the city with DS. Both of us in dire need of some winter shoes. My legs are not doing well at all, so need a good pair of shoes with treads before I go skating down stairs.

Stay safe everyone

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maybe you should wait for a better day for travelling Debbie..it going to be nasty nasty. Are your legs still really swollen?

must go find my boots, God only knows where they are.

Noon and my 11am helperot here, called him, said he was running late, had to bring his wife to work and would be here just after 1, we. Will see

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good news, bad news kind of day..

The handyman and a helper moved my bed (good news) when he went tpstep to lift mattress wasn't my big stained glass heron there and I heard crack (bad news) think I can repair, hoping so (good). Waiting for the Brick tocall me re bed, saidhese beds are special delivery, will that be good news or bad news

Another good think is the. Handyman said he would do a run to dump to dispose of the old gazebo and a counter top..total fee including tippage at dump and the bed $100

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bed gets delivered Saturday..yippee

Cleaned some corners thismafternoon then found the couch inviting, ziggynthought so too

We are expecting 3-6 inches ..so say the Weather Liars. So far today less than an inch.

Hugs to Sharon & Nikki, has to be worrisome news.

Can't remember if I posted this or not. DGD Jessica and DGGS Brody presented this QOV to the kids school bus driver as a surprise at the Veterans Day program at the school. Monica is a very special lady, all at school call her Mamaw. She didn't have a clue but was very pleased.

Wind has picked up, half rain half snow
Already had my bath, Lordy today has been a long day.

Themquilt is absolutely beautiful Kare, not a wonder she loved it, best part of it is being surprised!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh my -the heron!!!! I pray you can fix it. It is gorgeous.....
Keeping Sharon and Nikki in my prayers.
Got my Santa Warren name too. Hope I get a good day to shop now.....
Got the second ear done on the cat. Some fur (every stitch is different) and then some background to do. I'm hoping I get it done before Christmas....
Prayers continue all is going well with the house sale Karen.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hoping so as well Barb, it's a big piece..was tempted to give it to Paul for Xmas as I made it about 8 yrs ago and it's been under the bed since.

Kyle dropped in for an hour, said he would take my car to barrie one day next week so that the dealership can instal the key start..apparently Hm still has kinks with their unit and not sure when they will have one ready for installation so the dealership will put after market one in and when the other is ready they will install it.

While he was here Mel texted him to say his grandmother Betty (yep 2 grandma Betty's) got good news, cancer in remission. He was so pleased.

Showed me pictures of the float he is making for the dealership for Barrie Santa clause parade on the 18th.

Snowing, he went back in his photo and said we had snow around the 24th that stayed last year and he was snowmobiling on his birthday, dec.14th.

Bad day today, so took meds and am comfy in bed..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

no more snowing for past 3 days - that's ok, had Enough. Winter has totally settled in, and now the Christmas dinners/luncheons are hitting the calendar - oh my........ the Cost for some of them. One is $45/person, so that's $90 for us. Guess which dinner we're Not going to?!?! not difficult is it? Others are $15 & $10. Those we can afford.

Hope you're resting, Betty - sorry to hear you're having a bad day.
Hooray - new bed delivered on Saturday!
Hope your heron is repairable. That is a beautiful piece!

Think I mentioned - Dr said I could drive (as of last Thurs) so today I took my maiden voyage and went to PT, then made 2 visits to friends, shopping, and the library. It was great to spend a "me" day in Three Hills. Not often I do that, and visiting my 2 friends was lovely. Sandy is the one I give baby blankets to, for Nimble Fingers - they send baby blankets to Africa. Una & Sandy both come to crafting (Una drives) so then I went to visit Una (home from the hospital for a few days, and doing well) and she made me lunch - lovely ladies, both of them.
It will be great to see them on Tues @ crafting.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your heron Betty, I do hope you can fix it.

Beautiful quilt Karen.

Susan, that is an expensive luncheon! Glad to hear you can drive again.

Verona, ON

Betty we did a huge custom piece with a couple of herons. It was an unusual shape. The guy put it under his bed.His son was so excited that he just had to show a friend. When the son slid the piece back in under the bed he left a v shaped corner sticking out. When dad went to go to bed... yep he stepped on it ... crack. We were able to fix it easily because it was on the outside edge. Hope yours will be an easy fix too.

Susan exciting day for you today. I am so glad you can get out and about on your own now. You have really helped yourself heal with these new knees. Kudos to you.

The wind is just howling out there. Duke has his head hidden beneath a pillow. He has come a long way - there was a time when he would have paced the floor and cried.

Deb do you have any shows coming up for the pups ?

Think I will have a hot chocolate and see if I can fall asleep.

Stay well and safe
Dianne and her TH

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - That one is a dinner/dancing, with a cash bar. Others are luncheons.
Still, I think $90 for a couple is horrendous for a small town community center. As my friend Una said "if it's a fundraiser, they should say on the ticket - '$25 for the dinner, and $20 for fundraising' and that way the $20 can be a tax write off as a donation.
We're sure not going to a dinner for $90! Just a few weeks before Christmas is not the time to retirees to be spending this much. Lots of them are grandparents with loads of grandkids (we don't, but we're an oddity in this community lol)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, sun is shinning in freshly fallen snow, is beautiful out there, winter wonderland...

Dianne and Debbie did you get snow, I'd say we have between 2-3 inches.

Want to take a run to barrie this afternoon once they have cleared the roads and I know the snow has left the region as I need bedding the for new bed, would have been ok had I kept same size bed for the new one.

Wow susan that is indeed expensive for a Christmas dinner, I'm like you, would be keeping to the $5-$10 ones..hurrah you have wheels, freedom at last!

Hope you got some sleep Dianne, guess the TH will have to get used to snowy paws again..do they enjoy playing in the snow. Ziggy was but a kitty last year and never saw snow, this morning as usual as soon as I opened the door out he ran, down the stairs then realized, yukkk something is different so back in he came.🙀

As for the heron Dianne, not sure if it would be easier tanking off the one wing if I can match glass or try and find my wire twister, out thin strip of foil, solder on each side then add wire..it's broken opin 3 pieces...your thoughts?

Deb, Sharon is off again to Lindsay, about 120 miles from her house, she was at a dog show last weekend getting points for new pups, any shows in your future?

Debbie, did you get new shoes/boots, no storm issues when travelling to Rochester?

Awww Betty sure hoping you can fix that beautiful heron.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Last weekend we showed in Indiana. The boy, who actually belongs to my friend in Florida, but who's with me right now, got his first 2 points. Next week heading to Florida for a few days. There are dog shows down there, and it's my friend's club that's putting them on. Leaving on Tuesday morning, showing Thurs, Fri, Sat, and heading back home Sunday. Just taking the pups with.

My 11 year old is still doing OK. Had an appt with the holistic vet last week, and her heart and lungs still sound good. She's staying with a friend of mine while I make the trip.

A few snow flakes in the air here this morning on my way to work. Nothing sticking, but it was pretty. Coldest morning so far, only 19F this am.

Deb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb, holistic vet seems to be doing miracles..must tell, sharon.i believe sharon,is,going to a dog show in December in Florida as well. Best of luck..long drive for you.

her Debbie, found our cornfield near Bev's..what a maze it was...

Yup, that's MY kind of corn maze. I so hate getting confused & lost. This would be right up my alley lol

Going through some books at home, to take to the library. I'm sure there's a place for classics like David Copperfield, and Little Women.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Remembrance Day, a time to remember! So many heroes, many who have lost their lives and some still fighting for our freedom?

Sunshine day here, frigid but a beauty to see..fresh snow and the wind decorated it with leaves, not to many more left to fall.

Did go to Barrie yesterday, the minute I saw a few flakes of snow I headed back home, guess I remembered a few terrible storms driving from Barrie to home last year..they came up within minutes but as I drove out within 5 minutes it was clear.

Got to say Barrie is a terrible city to drive in, whoever designed the road system was too intelligent, downtown core has one main route and south end the same and built major store complexes off of them thus you can't move for traffic..unless I have to go I never shop in south end. Needed to yesterday as nobody had fleece bedding, managed to get a set and happy they were reduced re colour, from $89.99 to $69.99 then final sale $49.99.. I didn't much care the sheets were navy blue, once you put the blankets on they are not seen.

I went to a quilt place, those cheaply Quilts, didn't have much in selection for Christmas but I did purchase one. I lay my home made Quilts for show at the end of the bed..Ziggy loves laying on the bed, I have treats in bed so best not take a chance with the good ones right?

Even did Christmas shopping, ended up with Cordell dishes, setting of 8 for Melanie
She picked a simple pattern, for the new trailer, so with 1/2 a snowmobile pass, pod coffee maker, dishes and the cross stitch quilt she is DONE!

The Brick called while I was out to ask me to confirm I'd be home for delivery, wow, between 5pm-8pm.

Need to shovel off front deck for the delivery, might even try to do outdoor lights, thought I'd get that done before cold weather and snow moved in but not, few more totes to come in with Christmas decor, finish the workshop piece, and maybe get some sewing done, big smile here, a lot to get done in one day but as usual I will try.

If weather cooperates I'll have a few girls come tomorrow for a craft day, says rain all day but weatherman has been known to be wrong.

How about you, what will keep you busy today?

This message was edited Nov 11, 2017 8:38 AM

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You have been busy. We are just taking it easy here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Taking it easy is also nice..once this weekend is over I will be doing same, big smile, maybe not!

Still trying to find a housekeeper for Ziggy, if not no Florida for me.

There are berries on my Christmas tree, came with tree, Ziggy is trying to bite them off, have water spritzer, trying to make him know it's a no no..not sure who will win..like Missy he enjoys resting with the elves.

Need to get out of nighty and head to back shed for last of the totes.

Let us remember...

Am sure many of you remember the story of my finding this framed photo of a veteran, hangs in my bedroom..was saddened by his being in a pile at an antique shop so bought him and hung him up..know not who he is but he should have a place of honour.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ziggy looks comfy.
Thanks for rescuing that picture, and giving him a place you can honor him.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Lovely that you are giving him a place of honour - he deserves this.
I also am remembering someone from the 1st WW today (and always), my Uncle Ben. He was my dad's older brother.
Today I'm knitting - have a PJ swap buddy and need to scoot and get this done & mailed on Monday. Mailing to the US takes longer across customs!
Then I need to finish the baby blanket for Nimble Fingers (for babies in Africa).and of course prep the Library for Christmas decor. Not that we're really having much of a Christmas party on Tues, but Una's giving Amaryllises to each volunteer, and she asked that I look at the decorations & see if they're in good shape, so going to do that this afternoon. I have some paper cutouts I'm bringing for us to work on, on Tues. Such fun!
Forgot to mention - friend gave me an embroidery floss winder in May, and I just started using it last night - it's a Great little tool and works so well & quickly, too!!!

Loved those write ups Susan, am sure all households are remembering loved ones today.

Got the living room tree in the living room, snowflake lights in 5 windows, won't turn on lights though until tomorrow. Need to go and shovel front deck, it's blustery out there, hate to go out, would rather go downstairs and dress the snowman tree, he is looking sad naked lol

I can say I've all except the outdoor lights done, they are calling for rain and warmer temps so I'll wait a few days to do that then fini, done!

I can then get on to wrapping pressies 🤗

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, yes got a pair of Sketchers. Went to the outlet in Rochester and were marked down. A heavy sneaker for now. I still have a pair of boots from last year so set.

Is that Poinsettia in the photo real with Veteran? If it is ...be careful. They are poison to animals if they eat them...and Ziggy is a chewer. My Huck ended up in Vet for 4 days with burns in his throat from the milk in the flower!!!

Cold here, just grapple on the ground, nothing significant by time I got up. BUT DH said driving into work was really bad, black ice and roads a mess.

Stay warm everyone.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hear sketchers are really comfy debbie..no not real, all my poinsettia are imitation but good quality so they look real. Ziggy is not sure what to make of all the action, moving beds, Christmas in every room, some he can't play with because I sprayed him with water lol had a broken piece this morning but that is going to happen..I didn't put ornaments too low on the tree as not to encourage him..

Rain here for tomorrow debbie so likely the 2-3" of snow will be no longer.

The guys from the Brick just delivered my new bed, told them not to take of their boots so I just moooed up the water on the floor a few times, once it's dry I will make the bed..should have told them when they set up the bed to lower the legs somewhat..oh well, if I continue to find it to high I will get the boys to lower it.

Mattress although a sponge seems hard, I'll try it like it is and if I don't like it then I'll add the sponge I bought to put on the twin beds when I pushed them together.

Tired, need to be up early as the girls will arrive around 8:30 and I've much to do before they get here, hoping to sleep well

Victoria Harbour, ON

Girls have left, I ran into town for KFC and thinking of taking a hot bath, pain meds and feet up.

The lights show up yellow but they are light glowing ,,doesn't do the piece justice.

Comfy in my new bed lol

Oh Betty, room looks so nice.

Didn't they have different softness of the beds you could get? Maybe they gave you an extra firm? Might be worth an ask if you don't sleep well.

Busy week here, and today is DDs birthday. SO I need to get my self together and going to dinner tonight with her and DH & DS.

Betty, you didn't happen to find a black glass case with BeBe on it....and pair of glasses inside did you? I have lost my new glasses and know I had them in Canada. $400 pair and I can't find them!!!!

Ok I need to scoot. Weather is not fun today, just very overcast and damp cold.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bed looks nice.
I hope you find your glasses Debbie.
Happy birthday to your daughter.
Today is hubby's birthday too.

Verona, ON

Very drab and dreary out there. Supposed to be +8 C today. Steve came last week to get the gutters clean out and the leaves were frozen in there. The leaf blower wouldn't budge them. I forgot that I have hot water outside. We could have used it to melt the house. I have both a hot and cold water tap outside ... that came from my SG days. I did custom work and the size of them could not be cleaned inside.

Oh Debbie I hope you can find your new glasses. I keep my older glasses in a drawer in the bathroom. Or so I thought. Went to get a pair and they weren't there..

How did the dog show go Deb ?

Ok need to get something done. I spent all morning on the phone with CIBC (my bank) and Rogers (cell). Last week I let a finger drop when I was typing in my password. Bam I was blocked out.You have to get your new password on the phone - they will not send it to my mailbox. I found it on my cell . Just very confusing.

The Rogers call while lengthy to get the changes made the agent was wonderful. I was paying over $80 a month and all I use it for is talk and text none of the apps. Now it is $40. Basically it is an emergency phone for me. I take it when I walk with the TH in case something happens and I need help.

Oh my Debbie I am having trouble believing Shannon is 27.. Wow it just seems like last week she graduated from high school.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Debbie, no I did not, with moving of all the beds you would think I'd have found them had they been in the room you slept in, will go search my car, hope they are there.

Happy birthday wishes to Shannon..enjoy your visit.

The bed is a different sponge/gel and once you lay in it it conforms to your body, the I comfort pillows I couldn't use so Linda took them home with her yesterday.

Sharon got here at 8:30 with bags and bags, not exaggerating of sewn pieces, some needed squaring, some she didn't know what to do with, a cow quilt top she wanted quilted, got that done, wanted to do a candle runner, did that other than quilting, tree and star, did that other the quilting. She just left, tired but excited to have accomplished so much..she could tell I couldn't do much more, pressure in lower back from standing etc was so bad I was cringing each time I moved. She wanted me to stop but didn't want to seeing as she drove 100 miles here, we were so close to finishing everything.

Knock came to the door, it was the man who said he would come and get garbage the other day but then it snowed, he wanted me to check things over, did I have anything else to go?? So junk pile gone, feel good about that.

Thought maybe sharon would stay for supper but she needed to rush off, I cooked chicken and sliders, I'm so tired not sure I want to eat.

So what did you all get done today?

Sharon's pile of "'to do's"

Wow, you have been busy. Praying you are not too sore tomorrow.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - I sure hope you find your glasses!!
I'm going to try some hot glue gun flowers - look really easy & may be something the Craft Ladies would like to do on our Craft tuesdays.
I printed up 5 recipes for the Torrington Recipe Book our group is making for sale. Not sure where the proceeds are going - likely to the Wellness Center in our community.
I'm going to make some whipped shortbread tonight. Taking some to crafting, and some is being mailed out.
