You have been busy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got my hair cut, managed to get almost 1/2 the tree skirt quilted and 5 sets having stars cut out..goal is to do 10 sets tomorrow and finish quilting tree skirt..I'd be thrilled with that..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok, today I can talk about it........
Yesterday my daughter called & told me that her dad (stage 3 lung cancer, and it's gone to his brain, too) has decided he wants assisted dying. It's legal in Canada now, so he's applied for it (right as soon as he heard the diagnosis). It takes 2 weeks to get approved, then a 10 day waiting period. So, within a month, my daughter's dad could be gone. She's trying to wrap her head around this and so am I.
She also got diagnosed with an auto-immune disease in early stages. If it isn't treated with meds and/or diet, her spine could fuse. She's to test certain foods & see which ones make her back flare up. Things like cabbage (cooked or uncooked?!), potatoes & tomatoes are possible. Right now, with what's going on with her dad, she's not taking the time to figure out testing foods, so is taking pills.
Please continue to pray for her

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Susan.
Sending prayers.

Betty, knowing you, when you set a goal, you usually get it done.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Keeping your family in my prayers Susan.
I'm sure you will get all done too Betty. But please don't push!!!!! Love the tree skirt....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, imagine will be in the 70,s next few days and likely close to 80 on Sunday..as m and Dianne would say, stellar days.

Susan, think under the circumstances it's a wise decision your ex is taking, imagine all that pain and for not..may he go peacefully. Know your daughter would like him to hold on, be with her but the memories of those final days would always be there..know I have them and am sure many others do as well. She must take care of hersel, wouldn't want to do more damage to herself..hugs to you, lots to worry about.

With Christmas coming I've promised myself that I must do one chore before going downstairs to play..yesterday it was Windows that I could do from within, this morning was scrubbing the grout in washroom..of course after trying several types of cleaners and found one to work I couldn't just leave it,omg couldn't believe how dirty the grout was...now having coffee and will head downstairs after I look at the weekely adds and obits.

Sure hope it's a sunshine day for you all

As always look forward to hearing how your day went.

Verona, ON

Alright I was going to cancel the Santa Warren's Christmas Exchange but have had a couple of Dmail asking about it. If you do want to have it this year. please Post on here is fine. I don't think we need a separate post.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hurrah hurrah, I'm in

I'll go back and add a heading at top of thread and each to follow..when is the deadline for registering?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Keeping your family in my prayers, Susan.

Glad you're continuing the tradition of the Santa Warren exchange, Dianne. I think I'm going to opt out this year, though. I've really enjoyed the past two years, but, I've got so much going on right now, with work, and with dog health issues, that would just add one more thing, and I can't handle extras right now. I'll look forward to following everyone else, and seeing what goodies are received.

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Add my name to the list for the Santa Warrens exchange please?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb, is understandable for sure..there will always be a spot for you should circumstances change. How is everything going? Likely overwhelmed, take time for you..

Added your name lindakay.

Can't believe it's already lunch hour, think I deserve a grilled cheese.

Got 5 more sets of the kits done, another 1/3rd of the tree skirt quilted..don't want to linger on the couch because the sun is beaming through the window onto the couch, Ziggy is comfy and I'll be tempted to lay down as well, no can do

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I am not sure at this point Betty. I'm not sure how soon my power chair is coming which would make shopping a lot easier for me. I won't wait too long before a definite answer. You and Dianne know where my heart is with this.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hoping you can Barb but understand if you can't. That man of yours has good taste, you could always send him on an errand lol

Busy day today so best I get a move on

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you are up early. How are your headaches?

Betty, my Sis is doing really good. She still has bouts with her heart going into afib, but she has meds for it.
I still have some chest pains but the are getting easier to deal with. Pulled muscles hurt like the dickens.

Susan, enjoy your dinner.

Good morning ..

Was going to post, but am unsure as to whether I am in the right spot ?

All is well here .. gorgeous weather, 'WARM & HUMID', very unlike October in the north.
Soon be heading east.
Lorna again goes before the TEAM to make plans for a new leg .. sooooo disappointing with the funding for her .. I have fought tooth and nail and will continue .

Waving hello

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, another sunshine day, calling for a 73 with feels like 79 tonight but right now brrrrr

Yes 'M' you are n the right thread..that is beyond disappointing re leg, you are a great advocate for Lorna, she is so lucky to have a friend like you. What does the board do, provide some of the funding? Bet she's anxious to see her mom, has her mom been in good health since the passing of her hubby?

Glad you are feeling better and your sister doing well..terrible me wpbut this brain still not operating properly must ask, did you ever make that trip home for your dad's celebration of life?

Robert's retirement party at Paul's was nice, he really was surprised..paul also owns a taxi service so all invited guests parked in midland and driven to paul's..so arriving and seeing no vehicles really was a surprise when he came downstairs and the room was full

Sun shinning in the maple tree out front, a golden yellow orange, so pretty

Will go sew for a bit until it warms up then outside I go to get thingsput away for winter.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Celebration of Life service for my son in law this afternoon. I know it's going to be hard to get through.
Hayley's still doing well, I think she's even put on a little weight, which is good for her. She goes back to the holistic vet on Weds.
Beautiful weather for this time of year here, too!

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I was going to go in November, but with me going to the er with chest painfrom the pulled muscle, now I have 2 Dr. appt in November. So I need to reschedule.

Good luck with thenew leg for Lorna.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hugs Deb, difficult day for you and your daughter for sure...hard when these celebration of life are done a bit later, you just start to deal with death and all the emotions are brought back to deal with..roger died New Year's Day and we couldn't bury him until late April, was terrible having to relive it..

Not warming up too quickly so think I'll clean off cutting table of fabric and move the scroll saw over to cut more stars out..

Smiling, guess I could always put a jacket on and do some outside work, must mean I really don't want to do it.

Must take something out for supper although I thought I might take a ride into midlamd later this afternoon, had wanted to buy a new crockpot on my way to paul's yesterday but ran out of time so maybe I can pick up something to eat and not cook...

Doesn't it sound like I've a lazy on today?? Lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I so hope Lorna finally gets a good and proper fitting leg. You are an awesome advocate for her but it's just so darned hard to fight the ones who are in charge and think they know it all.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

As always, thank you ALL for your support re Lorna and her quest for a better leg.
I belong to am Amp site that supports 'caregivers' in the battle, thing is, there are few Canadians on it, BUT .. we all know the struggle
I am disgusted with our government, we supposedly have awesome health care .. well .. we don't anymore .. wait times for hips and knees is crazy .. bureaucracy is totally pandemic .. left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing .. but .. I am a fighting Irish ,, and I will be until I am heard ..

Off to finish my baking.

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Go Get Em, "M"

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

~M~How is Lorna holding up to the disappointment re: leg? I know she's a fighter, but this has to be very tiring & frustrating for her, as for all of you. *Hugs* for being so supportive. I continue with prayers for her & all of you.

Betty - too funny about Robert's party. He sure would be surprised after seeing no cars lol Obviously you don't Really want to go out, or you'd have done so, coat & all lol

Deb - *HUGS* Yes, the Celebration of Life will be difficult, but it really IS a Celebration of who he was.I hope you can take solice in that.

LK - is the pulled muscle all better? When do you think they would reschedule for?

I'm knitting right now. Trying to use up the chunky baby wool for another baby blanket. Mixing some colours. I heard it's the trend to do so..... I'm not really into trends, but here goes lol
After last night's dinner, we got sent home with enough for a dinner for Bob & I and when he went back when they were finished, and again to open up for the party organizers to clean up, they sent more food home with him, with directions to bring a bigger container for More lol Guess we won't be cooking for the next few days lol
Roast beef & gravy, plus all the fixings & dessert! Plus party mix from afterwards. I'd better watch what I eat - I do Not want to gain weight, but these farm people sure know how to cook!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, high of 60 today, look like rain, looked at news network, yikes says other than 1 day it will rain everyday..

With rain shortly I decided to go outside and do some winterizing..did some yesterday but more to do, cushions for 2 patio sets needed toe brought in before they are wet..don't look under my bed, that is where I keep them for the winter lol
That big 15' patio umbrella is so heavy, feels like a ton, much too heavy for me but I got her put away in back shed. I don't put the cushions there as I worry about mice.

What remains to be put away are smaller things so I'll make a point of doing a bit each day, snow tires on Friday then I'm ready for winter.

You in the south don't have to worry about all these chores..lucky you.

Darlene / John got to florida yesterday afternoon, first call was to tell me John is flying home for Christmas and when am I coming..wasn't sure I was going to go, debbie will smack me if I do lol but hate to see Darlene alone..I'll check tpfor a live in for 2 weeks to look after Ziggy, if I find one I will book a flight.

Well I've that pain in my a*#, am sure it's sciatic nerve so I'd best get a move on so I don't freeze up

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, chest muscle is still a little sore, I was told it will take time to heal. I rescheduled for next week.
Betty, you know better than to keep lifting/moving heavy things. No wonder your sciatica is hurting so bad.

Victoria Harbour, ON

when you live alone lindakay you got to do it all..

It's a nice day out there, m closing inback deck..was waiting for jeff, he came and did some things, said he would come up another day to finish but I know how one day it's nice andnext snow so took up the compressor, plastic wood and am 2/3 done..going to make lunch, finish last side then head downstairs..rather give it a push and get it done so it's not on my mind..hate closing it in when it's so nice but best be safe than sorry.

Feel I'm getting to be ahead of the game

Break is over

Lyndonville, NY

Bessie Lou!!!! DO NOT tell me you are caving in to that trip!!!

Yes I am going to give you the "what for".

With that I should tell you I am thinking of driving myself next month alone.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - rest and relaxation is the ticket - no heavy lifting. Don't do a "Betty" and overdo it. She doesn't listen anyway.............
Betty - on that note.......... siiiiiiiiiiiigh!! I realize that living alone you feel you have to do it all, and that your "kids" are busy with their own lives, but GEEZE, girl!! Don't you have home care of something? I know that, in Alberta, if you want to stay in your own home that they'll send crews out to do yard work, like mowing & pruning trees. I'm sure it's the same in Ontario. Find out, for goodness sake!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty I know you feel compelled to keep on the move, but you only cause yourself more pain. I think I read once that laying on your back on the floor is good for easing sciatic pain.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, drizzling this morning, I'm glad I brought in cushions from patio sets.

Debbie, Lordy that is a long drive to Florida on your own, what made you decide to do it alone, thought both of you were looking forward to it although it included some sad moments?

Not old enough susan to be looking for home care assistance, actually when it comes to my being unable to do my chores I'll find a seniors home, hopefully that won't be for awhile.. tried to find someone to pay and do it but there just aren't people who do odd jobs. Will call Darlene's brother in law, apparently he paints so I'll get him to do 2 back rooms.

Deb, how are all the furries? Karen,my new ruler will be here either today or tomorrow, excited about that.

Girls will be arriving shortly so best I finish my coffee and make sure all is ready for them

How will you be spending your day?

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, all was set for both of us to go. Suddenly he said "why don't you go alone this time and we can go together in spring?" Am sure he wants to spend Thanksgiving with his family and realized he would be gone then. Right now I would rather eat a can of beans in a parking lot than be here. Just as our "25th anniversary trip" was planned to the T and he backed out....to do later....but went on his own. He is doing the same with this. I am just done.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

*Hugs* Debbie - I can only imagine how disappointed and frustrated you were / are!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How disappointing for you Debbie, know you were so looking forward to it and visiting with family..do you think he might reconsider? That being said you wouldn't want him to go if he will be in foul mood because he doesn't want to go..sure hope you do go, too bad there isn't someone to go with you.

I bought that pressure cooker we looked at when you were here, now to find a recipe.

Kept busy all day, did some shopping this afternoon, had to make sure I have pop and chocolate bars for the trick or treaters next week, thought I'd stock up before shelves are empty.

Got my ruler from Sparrow Lake Quilt finally, was going to try it but decided to wait until morning when I'm more alert lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Oh my Debbie .. quite the situation re DH .. I have no sage words of wisdom .. sometimes I need LOTS of space between Gordon and myself .. I also would not be adverse to eating a can of beans in the parking lot ..

Well .. we had SNOW here bouts .. and, tomorrow we head east and, I am SO hoping we don't have to drive through any ... we are going in Lorna's big truck, it's 4x4 ..
Interment of her Dads ashes and 'family time' will start Saturday .. we have a side trip to Owen Sound planned to take her Mom to see her younger brother and his wife, in a home .. also some other stuff planned as well ..

The meeting re Lorna's leg looks/seems to have been good, but, I am not holding my breath ...
Sure hoping my ticker keeps tocking at the right rate .. going to have lots of lifting going on in the next 10 days ..

Susan .. my gosh, poor Michelle, and, you must feel so helpless, in my prayers ..

Waving hi to all of you .. TTYL :-)

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

re: my daughter Michelle - not sure if I mentioned the latest. She has been diagnosed with an Auto-immune disease that, if she isn't able to figure out what the trigger is and it continues to worsen, she may have her spine fuse. At this point it's in the early stages but some foods that could trigger are cabbage, potatoes & tomatoes to name a few. With everything else going on she's not testing foods, she's on medication to help with any flareups. She's a vegan, so veggies are pretty much all she eats. The cabbage family (if that's one of her triggers) contains kale, broccoli, cabbage, and brussel sprouts. Even some oils can be culprits.

Lyndonville, NY

Susan it sounds like similar to what I am dealing with auto immune. I have "night shade" allergies. Pretty much anything as you mentioned, along with eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes....can cause a flare up. They also do not know the cause. I am going to a Rheumatologist and Immunologist to help find answer. They think is a form of lupus at one minute then schleroderma another.....and it changes every visit. I vouch it is very painful.

Betty the trip is now completely off. Will maybe go down at another time to visit.
I am just totally broken.....and mentally fried.

M - drive safe! We have "lake effect" rain in the forecast today. But thankfully no snow. Please take care of you two.

Barb how are you doing? Is the change in weather bothering you? I need to get some new pictures to you for your frame. Let me know if you have requests.

OK, I have a dermatology appointment for skin cancer check , then allergy shots.....and Lord only knows what else up there.

Have a good day
Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Safe travels "M".

Susan and Debbie, I know it is not easy trying to figure out some medical issues. Praying for both of you.

Debbie, why are you cancelling your trip?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning..

Brrr 45 here this morning with a low of 37 tonight and rain this afternoon so a good day to stay inside and play..so glad I got my winterizing done when I did.

Debbie, I'm beyond sad for you, know you were on an upper about going.. I'm with lindakay why can't you just go?? Am sure family can fend for themselves! About time they do, hugs dear friend!

Know how much body pain you have debbie so feel badly for Michelle..sure hope answers are found..amazing how many of us are suffering mega pain on inside and not visible on the outside, makes it harder..somebody should invent a pain meter we can wear on our blouse, wouldn't that be a great idea?

"m" no snow predicted here for a few weeks so here is hoping it stays that way for your entire visit..driving a 4x4 will be safer should you get some further north.

Girls changed coming to sew from thursday night to Wednesday night and want to do Christmas mug rugs so I sat and did one this morning as it's been a year since its been a year since I've done it, got one done so another little gift to make up for someone and on top of things for tonight.

Going to glue some more of the Christmas workshop pieces..drats brought home some flat rate boxes when I was in Buffalo and although quite a size they won't fit the project, guess I have to look for other boxes.

Had a coffee, took something out for supper, going to grab something for breakfast and head back downstairs..

What is on your agenda today?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We use the priority boxes for quilts, they are bigger and mail for less too.
