Karen, what memories those kids will have..

Rogers say they've fixed problems so let's see if they are right!

Verona, ON

Hot and steamy here too.

Did have plans to work outside today but as soon as I stepped outside I was hit by a wall of heat. Took the hint and came back inside. The lake is getting the most use it has had all summer. The TH are flopped over the floor vents enjoying the AC.

Don't believe it but I have that awful rash on my arms again and it is just starting on my legs. Darn I thought I had seen the last of it.

Betty it is Meaford next weekend right ?

Susan it sounds like you are doing very well. Sure helps when you have had 1 knee done - at least you know what to expect.

Pat my back aches as well as my heart aches for you..

Karen I bet all your family had a blast in the water this weekend. Weather Liars say it is going to be quite chilly here by next weekend. So from shorts to jeans all in 1 week.

Need to get my doorman uniform on.
Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Betty,
Dianne, sorry to hear you got that rash back again. Have y ou figures out what is causing it?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Dianne - that nasty rash.........

Yes Betty, I'm doing better this time around. Yesterday I didn't have my morning and afternoon nap and woke up too early, so felt a BIT rough. Today I slept in later, and laid on the loveseat to help my leg's swelling go down. It did, but I didn't have a nap, and now I'm drifting. Guess I really need to sleep, not just lay down......

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Dianne .. does that rash revolve around your AC?
Just grabbing at straws, but personally I love the AC, but, my voice goes, and, my bones rebel ..

Very warm and humid today .. took Lilly into to town to a DQ for a cone .. we spoil her, but, she has never ever forgiven me for taking in Zoey.

Hoping we do NOT get another thunder boomer/light show again tonight !!

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

awwwww picturing Lilly having a cone - cute picture in my head lol
Oh, I hope your weather is fine. I know Lilly panics when there's thunder!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

All was well here through the night, QUIET :-)
Back to the daily grind, Lorna to work and looks like I have apples to do something with .. pies and crisps I think.
DH is limping around, left knee replacement not until December sometime.

Have a great week :-)

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, although it's calling for a feel like 100 out there this girl will stay inside..with this weather so many leaves are drying up and covering the lawn..soon time for my guys to come and get yard duty done, likely not until end of month though.

"M" you sure do spoil those furries, ice cream cones to boot lol,big smile.
Nice to get into a routine after the weekend, won't be long though Lorna will be home and know you enjoy having her for company. knee replacement isbeing done locally right? Good luck with backing..maybe I should get apples in Meaford this weekend for pies, what kind do you use?

Dianne, you are getting same weather as I so kudos to you for leaving outdoor work for cooler temps..can see the TH playing in the lake and getting cool. Yes Meaford is this weekend, not much changes, even the vendors from year to year but nice to get out and do the fabric shop, candle factory and near Collingwood a nursery had about 25 vendors last year that were amazing, not sure if they will do it this year but hope they do.

Susan, sleep is a must for you during the day, do you have to go back for stitches and check up soon?

Debbie, how are you feeling, this weather playing havoc with you?

Pat, get some sewing time in?

Lindakay, two more sleeps and youget to spend time with the sewing group...do you bring fabric or they provide everything?

think

Big sigh, am sure weather mass causing these headaches, do any of you get them when such drastic changes in weather happen? Doc gave me wafers to take but I forgot with the funeral to go to pharmacy and pick them up. Sharon called yesterday to say she had someone to look after dogs today, should have said another day but she was excited about getting the. 'Next' step in her sewing projects so I have company for the day. Other than that not much going on..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I bring my own fabric. I have so much here, it will be good to use up my stash.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I know many of you ladies have or have had dogs. Just looking for a little advice, while I wait for my vet appt tomorrow. Hayley, who will be 11 in a couple weeks, has been losing weight for the past month. Always a concern in an older dog. She seems like her normal self, and I was thinking she hasn't had her teeth cleaned, maybe her mouth is bothering her and that's why she's not eating. I've been giving her canned food, and she gobbles that down. Yesterday I was trimming her, and I noticed that her entire throat is swollen. No distinct lumps or bumps, it doesn't seem painful, but from her lower jaw down to her chest it's swollen and firm feeling. Any ideas of what it could be? A friend suggested allergies, I'm concerned it's cancer. No one I've talked to has had anything like this.

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that. I have no idea what it could be. Best you have her checked out.
Praying it is nothing serious.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We have today and tomorrow for nice weather, then back to poopy. Ah well the break was nice.

Verona, ON

Deb will Haley let you check out her teeth.? Lymth (know spelling is wrong) nodes could be swollen and that is the sign of several different things. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your girl has something that can be treated. Glad you have a vet's appointment tomorrow.

Karen same weather here. I went to go out to work in the yard and came right back in.

Dianne

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Deb .. perhaps a bug bite ? 25mgs of Benadryl won't hurt .
HATE the thought of the "C" word .. bless her heart ..
Praying it is something non threatening, I'd be sick with worry just like you.

Betty, I know several people who get 'barometric headaches' prior to a storm usually .. Lorna's stump just goes crazy (tingling) when a storm is close.

Just started to pour rain ..

~M~

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks, everyone. Her teeth are bad, and she could use a cleaning, and that might be part of the issue with not eating, or at least not eating kibble, but the swelling has me concerned. And, of course, I'm hearing horror stories, primarily telling me might be lymphoma, or thyroid cancer. Hoping I can get some definitive answers tomorrow, and set up a plan of action for her.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

*hugs* Deb - I know you're worried, but the vet visit is tomorrow, so it's close. You're doing your best by your girl. I hadn't thought of a bug bite, but could that be a possibility?!?!
Betty, here, it's migraines caused by barometric pressure, as Marilyn suggested - could it be that?
Tomorrow I'm getting an elongated bath chair delivered by Home Care, and my staples are being take out on Oct 2nd. Looking forward to that.
I'm going to get out of my jammies and go out on the back deck. Bob's home to help me get settled.

Verona, ON

Deb we are all going to think positive for your sweet girl.

Still very hot and humid outside. Even the TH just run out then right back.

Found something to ease the itchies. I had bought it for my feet. They take a beating because I run around in bare feet and sometimes the soles of my feet crack open.It is Gold Bond Ultimate Moisture cream for Diabetics. Now why it can calm the itch I have no idea but I'll take it.

Barb how are you doing ?I'll check back in later
Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Just came in from outside on the deck - warm & sunny. My 1st rose bush is in full bloom and except for some trees across the highway, trees & grass are still green! :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holy wah, went outside a couple of times and the heat humidity is something else..feel as though I'm in New Orleans..not a day to be out..don't know how people do withought a/c on days like this..thinking of all in the south and on the islands dealing with these conditions with no electricity. Township dropped in this morning..there is a break in the linessomewhere at the corner so they are shutting my streets water from 9 to noon tomorrow for repairs, must remember to fill a few containers in the morning.

Sharon left about 1/2 hr ago, we put in a real productive day, she left smiling.

Debbie, very well could be a bite, inuk is still under vets care and sharon is bathing his paws in Epson salt every few hours and is on meds. Here is hoping it's nothing major, know you are worrying yourself sick over it..could be teeth but the good side is you say he's still himself.hugs

Take a photo Susan for us..glad you are getting equipment that will make your recovery much easier..just no doing anything until bob is around.

Glad the lotion is working on your itch Dianne, if it works you'll have to incvest on more to have on hand..must be an allergy or heat reaction.

Had spaghetti for lunch, have some leftover but not hungry for spaghetti again so it's either order pouting from next Fodor or maybe make a grilled cheese...being lazy, if I made grilled cheese I'd not have to go next door lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I do small amounts of everything, except going into the bathtub for a shower.
Tonight I was laying down on the loveseat and Bob was getting something behind me and wham bam - down he went. He was wearing a pair of slippers I knit & had offered to put non-skid on them but he said they were fine. Apparently not. He bumped his head and twisted himself, but says he's fine. He caught his foot on something after he slipped. Nothing like me being helpless. I couldn't help him if I tried. He worries me. What is it you put on the bottom of wool slippers to make them non-skid? Something tells me "modge podge"?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Off n running as soon as Lorna is off to work DH and I will go grocery shopping, then home to tackle more of those apples.
I think they are Cortland apples ?

Sorry to hear about Bob .. hope he feels ok today..

Toodles

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Another heat warning for the area, 98 today..cooler temps by Thursday..girls come today so no need to be outside except to put the garbage at the roadside.be staying inside..girls come this morning so will keep me company.

"M" must make sure I pick cortlands up for a few pies, are you apple crisps hard to make?

Sorry to hear Bob fell..you know that grip liner roll you buy, can get it at dollar store, you can cut a sole from it and sew to slippers, makes it none grip. Hope he is ok this morning.

Best fill a few pots with weather, be without township says between 9-12

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear he slipped.

I found this site.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Some great ideas Lindakay.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I was convinced to get my girl in to the vet yesterday, so we went to another clinic I sometimes use. Still no answers, but, hopefully by end of the week. He said he didn't think it was lymphoma because if wasn't high enough on her neck. He aspirated it in several areas, and they are sending slides out for a cytology report. They also did a blood draw for a full blood panel. He said her heart and lungs sound good, and whatever it is, isn't effecting her airway. It could be thyroid, or it could be something as simple as lipomas. Hoping for answers so we know how to proceed. Thanks for all your kind words.

Today is supposed to be the last day of this horrible hot weather. I'm really looking forward to temps in the 60's and 70's! This 90's is just too much!

Deb

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hubby has severe itching in his lower legs. My cream for diabetic dry skin seems to give him relief too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wonder why diabetic creams, seem to work better than any other..

Went to post office and pharmacy, got my meds but not headache wafers, waffersvwerent covered by my plan, theywanted $96 for 6 pills, told him my excedrin migraine works well no nope not taking them

On hold with Sirius radio,
Had new car with service when I bought it, cancelled Sirius may 3rd when I got new car and ever since they have been taking $20.85 out of my account every month..every month I call, next month cc is billed again...ooops

Ok says they've credited my account, we will see next month

So hot and muggy out there, best I turn up,ac

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I would ask them to send you confirmation Betty, Sirius can be a pain to deal with.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I had that happen with ADT, and finally the person on the other end suggested they remove the cc info, so from that point on they had nothing to take the funds from!

Bob says he's fine - just sore at the back of his ankles where he hit.
guess what? My DH has been working really hard at our 2 neighbours' and has made enough $$ as of today to buy the siding for our addition!!! Now There's an Oh Wow!! We have a friend who used to install/sell siding and he's going to help us install it For Free!!
And my KNEE is doing fantastically! After 8 days, I can walk (carefully) with a cane! I haven't been down our deck steps yet, but there's a step down into the den and I take it with a walker. I'm being very cautious, but Oh Wow, what a difference from January!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Make sure you have the Dr.'s approval before walking on that knee. Susan. Glad it is doing better than the first one.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

I have had a few days of non stop running.

The heat here has been horrific Betty, same as you. Tonight rain moves in and tomorrow the high is 55! Supposed to be for next few days.

Deb, my heart was in my throat reading on your Pup. So happy she had biopsies and are closer to answer. It does sound like a lipoma and I sure hope that is all it is. I remember going through this with my Izzy and we never got an answer.

Took my car for inspection today and don't you know it had some big trouble. WOuldn't even let me drive it to get Tim Hortons and home! Got DH on the phone, they babbled.....getting new Tie Rods as my front right tire was ready to fall off.

Can you imagine me driving to Canada Betty with car like that! Bad enough I toted FIL around yesterday to appointments. Still need new brakes and rotors this weekend but DH can do that himself.

Barb, how are you doing? Are you getting rest in the new bed?

Susan, do not over do it. I know it is great to have a "full set" and no pain like before, but go slow. Great news on the siding. I am still paying for my fall. Really jars the system.

Dianne, how are you and the TH doing? Do you have this heat? Rains are supposed to move in tonight. 3 to 4 days cool weather.....then back up in 70s next week they said.

Ok, I am needing coffee here. I shut my FB off to get some work done a few days ago.....might need to do that more. I am addicted. I have a problem. I need a 10 step program! Hahaha

Hugs to all
Debbie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Deb - I totally understand you on FB - it IS addictive. I've only had the computer off while I was in the hospital - no wifi lol
OH tie rods are really dangerous if they're not working! Glad to hear you got them replaced! Make sure your your brakes & rotors are in good shape!
Betty - did you get satisfaction with Sirus radiio?
Deb - how's your wee girl?
I see my Dr on Nov 2nd - not going to wait That long before walking on it lol
Staples removed on Oct 2nd, and PT this Thursday morning (tomorrow)

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, we were told the brakes and rotors both need replaced and DH can do those himself.....so that helps. Tie Rods...not any more. He needs the garage and lift which we don't have access too.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

VERY happy your car is now safer & you're able to the other things that
need doing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, Lordy can't believe the time..

Oh Debbie that is not good news at all, didn't want to pressure you intocoming this weekend but hoped you would but with all going on maybe BalaCranberry festival, larger than Meaford, it's in a few weeks. Glad paul cando some of the work, Lordy driving like that could have been deadly. How long will it take to Fix?

Susan, Sirius say they willcredit cc so let's hope or it will mean another call. Great news about the siding, both about having the funds to buy and getting help.

Debbie, sure hope the results of the tests come back saying it's an issue that can heal bytakingmeds..am sure until youget that news youare fretting.

Didn't sleep well last night, big sigh, a mother think. Lol

Greg dropped in with brochure of antrailer about 9:39 last night, excited as can be, he and Mel bought a new travel trailer, tip outs, back bedroom, stainless steel appliances, couch/chairs that heat us, whole bowl of was, pick it up tomorrow..tried to fall back asleep and kept thinking of all the $$$ spent just to go camping 6-7 times a year...had to remind myself, they are adults, make mega $$ so what has it got to do with me 😜

He did so if he could come over tonightand pick up my new generator, never used..they wit about 30 others are going camping on Mel's uncles property, middle of nowhere, large pond but no hydro so of course they want hydro, so off goes my generator, had to remind him I want it back lol they get trailer tomorrow.

Today my girlfriend joanne dropped in, had a witches had for me as well as a corn husk she fabricated out of wool, Lordy mega work, even brought me a wonderful lunch. About mid morning Dianne came for a visit, said paul is holding his own and feeling a bit himself now that he has been accepted on a new trial not yet approved by government..meds have some side affects but nothing like chemo..so company is gone and I'm on the couch..

Do you believe in spirits? Joanne kept saying she could feel someone near her, Ziggy cried and cried all aft, coming into craft room trying to lead me into family room, just wouldn't stop, just like she was looking at something..we went back tocraft room and he started again. I said maybe it was my girl spirit who committed suicide here about 14 years ago..call us crazy!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to add Debbie we had rain and wind today..I just shut off a/c, tomorrow and Friday high is 54-55

Took another look at the cob of corn Joanne made for me, unbelievable amount of work for one cob of corn..made with wool

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Wow that does look like a lot of work. Cute though.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is pretty cool! Lots of work for sure!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Wow Betty - Ziggy was hearing/sensing Something, eh? Wonder what it was........
Mega bucks to spend on an RVbut if they enjoy it and have the funds, better to enjoy funds while you can (or save for retirement years down the road and say "we never lived life to the full?")
SUCH a lot of work on the corn cob. Designed it herself you say? wow, what a talent she has!

I'm going to go lay down. PT tomorrow morning, and I need my rest. Susan gets home at 12:30am her time, and put in a full 12 hour day...... back to work at 3pm tomorrow. This is her regular day, one day a week, and 8hr day the other 5. Gets Sunday off (whoop de doo! means she works 6 1/2 days in 6, to get 1 day off)
