Would be hard on Corpus Christi, when I was there decades ago it was after oil spill, just about ruined the city, took years to build up! Destruction for them would devastating.

Good to hear from you Barb. there never seems to be an increase in one thing without an equal or greater DECREASE in other help! I praying a GOOD job comes thru shortly.

I have never lived in areas that get that kind of storm, hard for me to imagine having to evacuate.

I was just checking, and FB has a Safety Check site, where you can send a msg to anyone and ask them "Are you safe?". They get a msg right away, where they can reply.

Betty shoes are a horrid price .. I bought a pair for a wedding and they were over $100., AND, as comfortable as they were in the store, well, after 5 hours on my busy feet I was about in tears as I had a blister on my L heel !!!

All Lorna's upcoming procedures are cancelled :-(
Getting 3 offices to work in unison is crazy these days .. once she is done with work, she can play the game .

Norm and I will be good. We are fortunate in that we have a great family. We are meeting with Stacy this morning to discuss some options regarding Norm and finances. He can retire now on SS at the reduced amount and then is allowed to make additional money before they cut back that. We need to figure on whether that is a good option now or not. His one on one meeting with the lady at unemployment also suggested that as an option. She was not at all optimistic about him finding a decent paying job anymore. He goes to all these interviews and then nobody wants him when they see how old he looks. Of course it doesn't help that his hair is nearly white!!! LOL We shall see but I'm not extremely worried as I know that doesn't do either of us any good and my daughter has made that her mantra for me......
Thank you all for your prayers and concern. It is really comforting to know I can come here and I am among friends.

Sorry to hear "M" that Lorna ishaving such problems, am sure she is overwhelmed..yep $109.99, sure hope,told they have a memory foam in them, we'll see, don't want blisters tonight.

Usa has it so much worse with their weather than we do with our snow, lot less personal damage. Cant imagine how insurances deal with massive claims or do they insure for such storms?

We cross posted Barb, always helps with a family member who is able to go over options and provide answers..I took mine early and glad I did, think I'd have to live to 82 before I show a loss but in the meantime helps out tremendously. Best is your optimism if not worrying.

Morning everyone. We are fine here. My son lives about an hour west of San Antonio. They will get lots of rain and winds, probly starting tonight.
Anyone in Texas is not covered by insurance, unless you have a specific policy just for flooding. It is very pricy, and like most policies, you get the run around if you do make a claim.

Lorna's leg is simply NOT staying on .. emails and calls to her prosthetist are unanswered (which is odd) .. DH and I have tried to help, but, it needs to be padded with more leather .. quite the situation ..

We are still fine here. No rain, a very nice breeze. Our high temp for yesterday was 85. It felt so nice.
We are watching the news on tv about Houston. It amazes me how many stay behind to keep their home safe, make bad decisions, and end up passing away. People trying to drive through roads covered in water, and get stuck.
They said on tv, those that are still in their home, we hope you have food and water for a week, as there are no stores/gas stations open, and roads will not be dry for at least 5-7 days.

Morning all, suppose to make it to 70 today and sunshine for the rest of the weeks sothat is good news.

Wondering how lindakay and family are doing, saw some photo's of damage, Lordy its overwhelming to see such devastation.

"M"just worked outside and all but a dew skitters remain..

came in for a break, runners are soaked from dew, got to cut grass but still way too wet.

Terrible what Lorna is going through "M" and how are you doing?
can't even imagine how frustrated with the system you all must be.

Wedding was beautiful, wish someone would have made a note on invitation though that it was outside wedding with tent..about 200 in attendance, rented area that caters to weddings, grounds were beautiful, well like, just a winter wonderland..in the tiki area they had a large screen tv for those that wanted to watch fight last night but please nobody went to watch, all focused on wedding.

Mom had a few drinks, even danced a bit so all and all a very good night.

She left for the city around 9 worried about weekend traffic, I got the cutters out and filled the fire pit with over growth, now to let it dry and have a fire, perhaps by the weekend.

Well best I have my coffee then see if grounds are dry enough to cut grass, think I have to make a quick run for gas for rider or I won't be cutting much.

Morning all, going to try and get some sewing done today, I'm soooo behind.
Open house was yesterday, it was OK but we sat down with agent after I think got a few things cleared up. I was not happy with the was our house was listed,
she was insisting on making market comparisons. To my way of thinking, there is no way that works especially on lake property. Ours was built to be a cottage and would require some fairly major changes to make it a good permanent home. There are houses around the lake over a million dollars next to small cottages. Our house is good sized because we have a large family to accomodate at different times of the year. To be a good home it needs a larger kitchen and the upstairs needs to be reconfigured into bedrooms.
I think she finally realized I was close to giving her the heave-ho, and adjusted her thinking. She finally agreed to list the way we wanted it and SURPRISE...thinks it's worth quite a bit more that way. So we'll see how this works out.

Best of luck Karen..guess she has to cater to cottage needs. Will youhave another open House? What are you sewing on, another QOV quilt?

Betty I am fine .. 4 years ago prior to my hip replacement, I was found to have a heart murmur .. I had an ECHO cardiogram at the time, which has been LOST!!!
Well . was visiting the doc a couple of weeks ago, and, the murmur is worse :-(

Their report is the only one that can be used in court.I paid $100 awhile ago for one. It gives you the bottom line plus tells you what you should be asking -plus what you should do to fix your place up to get the max for your place..

It is a glorious Fall day out there..Betty it reminds me of doing Meaford. On my sheet for each year I make a note to bring both jeans as well as shorts.

Sounds like you are looking to sell to another couple who have big gangs and want to enjoy the lake weekends and not live there permanently..it will come, just takes awhile to find right person

Got a message from cousin on Friday that my Aunt, who had been sent home and doing well, had taken a turn for the worst. She was back in the hospital and cousin was flying back to VA. They had some nice meaningful time and memories together, and my dear Aunt passed at 7:00 this morning.

She has battled ovarian cancer for over 5 years, and is one of the strongest people I know. She has been with me since the day I was born and was my only family left that I know from my Mom. She was married to my Moms brother.....and even after they divorced she never forgot me. Every birthday and holiday....always a card and letter....even this year!

Although my heart hurts, I am thankful she no longer is suffering. Not sure if I will travel to the funeral yet or where it will be. VA or FLA.

I just got in and can't sleep. My son in law killed himself Sunday evening. My daughter called me around 11pm when she came home and found him. They were only married 2 years. she is just devastated. He was only 31. I'm so angry with him that he would do this to her. He struggled with depression for years, but refused to get help.

Such sad news this morning..

Deb how very tragic, can't imagine what your daughter and you are going through..so young to find life not worth living. Depression is hell to live through, a battle each and every day..it's those left behind after such a tragedy that pays for action taken. Does your daughter live near you? There are no words to comfort you, sending arm wraps and prayers!

Debbie, know how much your Aunt meant to you and how devastated you must be..condolences to you are yours. Virginia wouldn't be to far to travel for the funeral but Florida quite a distance...you have her deep within your heart and she would understand if you can't make the trip..you could have a celebration of life yourself remembering the good times.

"m" how did the repairs go on the prosthetic leg?

It's suppose to reach 68 today, good day for doing more work outside, still have piles of shrub that needs to be put on burning pit then more overgrowth out front that needs cutting down..too wet out there right now so might go downstairs and see if I can find something for backing of the little fall topper I made that needs quilting..not much else happening.

Went out and roamed the property, especially areas that I did cutting in and no go, checked a few piles of bripush to no avail..came in and prayed to St Anthony, patron of lost objects, no sooner had I done so there on a cupboard downstairs that I don't even remember being near I found them. Now to remember to put $$$ store glasses on when outside.

How are things going in Texas, been watching main area hit but wonder if the rain is headed your way..

Oh Deb, so sorry for your daughter. It's the ones left behind who suffer from a suicide. We've had some in the family and it's just so hurtful.

Sorry Debbie, losing a well loved person is heartbreaking.

Deb - SO sorry to hear about what your daughter is going through.Suicide only hurts those left behind.... the pain continues for them.

Was to have been a sunshine week but clouds are moving in and they are calling for thunderstorms in the morning, best not complain after what Houston Tx is going through..can't even imagine what all are going through, I had several inches of water in basement and that was devastating to me, imagine those poor people..prayers going their way!

Thoughts are with Deb and Debbie this morning,deep sigh, sad what we humans have to go through..life is not easy is it?

Girls should be arriving shortly, always a fun day. In going through fabrics I found a fall wall hanging I must have purchased a few years ago, once I do my 2nd fall table topper I'll have something to do.
