Welcome back, Dianne!!
Betty, I'll leave Bonnie with her handler in Florida. It's very contagious, and can't risk bringing it home. Canine influenza can be fatal, but usually with supportive care, they recover ok. Bonnie's temp was up a bit yesterday afternoon, but I haven't heard anything since around 6pm, so hoping she's responding to the treatment. I'll call a little later for an update.
Best,Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new, come join in..
Missed you Dianne and happy to see you here once again... Give the TH big hugs for taking care of you while we were absent....
Afternoon every one,
Dianne, how exciting to see you post., sure did miss you and Thundering Herd..must have been lonely for you..my internet goes down for a day and I'm in panic mode.
Deb, likely very smart of you leaving Bonnie there, here is hoping her temp is back to normal.
Barb, how is Norm doing?
Was in Barrie all morning shopping and getting measurement for cupboards, looked like it was going to rain any minute so got on mower and got yard done but Lordy had to clean up more limbs, guess from our last major storm..just came in, head was pounding when I got home but it's mega pounding now, just took something, going to have a bath and can guarantee you I'll be doing nothing for rest of day!!
Betty, you have over done it again. Please be careful.
Morning all, sunshine day..waiting for it to dry up a bit and warm up, with rain forecasted all week I want to get the pond up and running and try to get the seeder started..always so muchodo when you live alone..know I overdo some days but if I don't do it who will..have beenhiring people to do some things but for other no can find.
If I break my days work over many hours it should be too bad.
In the meantime seeing I did my housework this morning I'll sew a few blocks for another wedding quilt!
Norm is doing great Betty. He stills overdoes a bit but for the most part he is minding his doctor's orders. He is soooo glad to be back to work and not sitting around the house. I keep telling him he needs a hobby of some kind but he is not interested. The only thing he is into right now besides work is reading. He loves his spy novels...
Have his nephew here for the weekend. Must run.....
Hope you are all enjoying good weather this long weekend.
Great news Barb, think we all have a tendency to overdo but let's hope his is at a minimum. Reading is a hobby is it not? Tell him to come visit, I'll send him home with a few hobbies.
Came in for a break, thought it should be around 4pm
Wow only 1:00
Regardless if I need another bath later I got to get the swamp smell off me, yuk
Just the bottom well is filled with green water, filling area just above the water feature pump then will put other pump on to get rid of water, if I do that a few times water should be cleared and ready for the season..what a tremendous amount of work!! Worth it in the end though..

Just came in for a break, thought it should be about 3pm but Lordy was only 1:00
Had to come in for my 2nd bath in boiling water, playing in pond gunk not only smells like swampland at it's worse but I worry even wearing gloves I may come down with something seeing I've cuts.
Hoping I can manage getting the water feature up and running without having to get dressed again and also having to have another path.
Looked at my list of to do's and I have the back deck left to do, winter cover needs taken off, 1/2 day job so if it rains everyday as predicted maybe I can get it done early week.
Then work is done other than cutting grass and pulling weeds. Hurrah
Grass is cut now but I think I should get a goat. Still have the hill down to the lake to do. That is a major job and I am in no mood to do it now. Of course the TH had to help.
Gotta ~~~~~~~~
Dianne and her TH
Must be difficult cutting grass on a hill Dianne, how on earth do you manage?
Just put supper on, eating early is,a,habit I want to get back on,schedule..
Would say 1/2 the pond has water, likely finished filling by the time I'm ready for bed.
Need to go put patio cushions in basement entry to keep dry, winds up and clouds are rolling in
Lordy, can barely walk, decided hot bath, pain killer and bed..fell into deep sleep, phone rang, Darlene and John, wanted to know where I was, they were in my drive, didn't hear them knock..then Greg came, didn't stop giving me what for re all the work I did, he was just starting his work at his house as he was at Paul's welding docks all weekend...wanted to check up on me as he leaves tomorrow for Main, car races..
I'm back in bed, let's see if I can get hip/leg in comfy position and fall asleep again but now I'm wide awake..lol
TWO visits with my mom today with a lunch break in the middle, with my niece Robyn. Lovely girl, although........... good grief, when did my Young Niece get to be 50 this August?!?!?!?!
Going to see Mom again tomorrow morning, then my daughter will pick me up & we'll go for dinner with her hubby, then off to Eileen's to stay.
Hope you are resting today Betty. It doesn't pay to do overdo but I do understand you wanting the yard/pond done.
The kids upstairs are moving out this weekend. They bought their own house and I know they will do well. They are both teachers. Hope the next tenants are as quiet as they were over our heads.
Sean is doing better. Still has major swelling with the knee. Uses a brace and wheelchair at school. Stacy is in South Carolina for a well deserved rest. She has a BFF there and they are having a grand time. Spending the weekend on Tybee Island and then back to Savannah.
Wishing you all a safe Memorial Day and remembering those who have made it possible.
Barb - glad to hear that Sean's doing better. Prayers for him.
Nice that Stacy is spending time with her BFF - lots of fun there :-)
I'm on my next part of the journey - going to my friend Eileen's today (after visiting mom & then having dinner with Michelle & Lonnie, DD & DSIL)
Betty, I hope you do nothing but rest today.
Barb, what did I miss about Sean? Sorry to hear he has a bad knee.
Susan, sounds lime you are having a great trip!
Beautiful photos Debbie.
That is some feast!
Omg nobody told me early this morning that today was a rest day??
How you all, you know I would habpve done so😜
Sharon got here at 8am and we just now finished sewing, had 2-15 minute breaks and other than that it was a sew sew day.
Sharon had been working on making and appliqe'ing Christmas blocks for her Christmas heirloom quilt as well as wedding quilt blocks..she also did blocks for a butterfly quilt..she has the bugs lol
So laughing, you know when typing on apple if a word is similar to one of their icons it pops up, well I typed in 🐜 B u g and the ant showed up but I thought it was a real ant on my screen and kept trying to mush it up, shaking my head, I am tired..
Anyway we never stopped, she got her Christmas quilt put together, her wedding quilt and all her butterfly blocks squared and ready to sew together..though I helped her I got all my blacks done for another wedding quilt.
Barb, glad Sean is doing better but I also had not heard he had difficulties..
Your crowd Karen are all headed home? Bet it was a lovely visit..
As always Debbie your photo's are picture perfect and worth of being on postcards, love the lighthouse.
Susan, how did you visiting go
Sharon, how did your day go? Just put ac on and thinking of your and lindakay's high temps, were they nearing 100 again today?
Did Andy and family get to visit lindakay
Deb any news about Bonnie?
Dianne, did you get and are you getting this nasty storm, had one early morning and another coming through..
So tired, wanted to wait till Sharon told me she was home safely but she has a 2 hr drive and only left about 1/2 hr ago,..will never make it so of to bed I go as I've a long day tomorrow, girls come in a.m. As well as the two gpmen from the area to give me an order list of supplies I need for the storage cupboards..
Night night
Those are beautiful quilts. Sounds like you both were busy.
Not quite 100, but close, and with storms all around the humidity is high. Right now it's 75 degrees with 85%humidity.
Beautiful quilts!!
Bonnie is doing OK. Fever finally broke Sunday night, she's eating, drinking, more active, so, finally on the mend. Very scary few days. I know it's their livelihood for the professional handlers, but it's suspected that travelling handlers is how this spread. Showed up one weekend in Georgia, next weekend Florida. Don't know how many of those handlers went on the NC and LA shows, but I heard of sick dogs in LA this past weekend.
I could have sworn that I told you all about Sean. He had a collision in the outfield at one of his games almost three weeks ago. He was to have played at a stadium the next night and his prom was the night after that. He missed them both. He has had x-rays, a CAT scan, an MRI and ultrasound on the leg and still no definite diagnosis because of massive swelling which is now finally starting to go down. He goes to school on crutches and transfers to a wheelchair for the day. Not fun. He has a brace to wear all day and now that the swelling is starting to go down, hopefully a new MRI will show what damage has been done. He has been in such pain and we are really proud that he refused prescription meds. Just regular Advil is all he takes. Stacy is in South Carolina and won't be home until Wed. Don't know if Scott will take him to surgeon or wait until she gets back or if she will come home early. I'll keep you posted.
OUCH! Sending prayers they find out soon what is wrong, and can do surgery if needed.
Oh my Barb, that has to be worrisome. Sounds like he is handling it well though. I'm sure it will be a relief to get to the root of the problem.
Most of company has left, some this morning . One DGD & family is still here until this evening. Three greats from TN of course will be here another two weeks.
I miss everyone and am so happy so many of them still like coming up. It's tiring but I get lonely in between.

Omg Barb that is quite a tumble he took..what a champ for taking it as he has..here is hoping he will norpt need surgery and it's just healing time that is needed..sure would hate for anything to be permanent..kids play hard these days..
Deb,glad Bonnie is better" bet you were worried being so far away..guess there is no way of telling which dog was the carrier.
Well Karen at least they all didn't leave at same time, with having a few stay on it will let you get used to quieter times that is on its way,
Clouding over, think I'll take a nap then go into midlamd..Kentucky fried chicken today as well as my needing to pick sliding door units for shelving I'm having installed..also need to buy meat for supper tomorrow night as. It's Battens night, the elderly couple that i take turns either doing supper at their home or at my place, was going to cancel but might as well get My turn over..
Girls were her this morning, all busy with projects, pat passed one on to me, now I need to buy wool, wool hand muff for Alzheimer's patients, great idea.
Like that idea too Betty. Do all the embellishments go all around or just on one side?
She is putting some all around..this is her prototype..she will make 2 small swatches and add a little zipper as they love to play with zippers
Going to get my m I'm to make some
Poor Sean!!!
tomorrow I'm heading back home. Bob's finished one deck & stairs, and I have the shrub I was hoping to get.
Saw mom again today for 10 min, and she was really happy to "see" my friend Patrick.
Had a great visit with friends & family - esp Bob's son, d-in-law, and 2 1/2 yo son! Went for dinner with them tonight
Vacation went far too quickly didn't it susan, seems as though you just left..bet you are excited though to get home to Bob and see all that he has accomplished!
Was up early, making pies for company, need to put roast in slow cooker shortly, have 2/3rds of the back porch done, nice to be able to see the Darren's again..will rest a few hours before company gets here at 5

I am on the back patio catching up with you guys.
There was an article in the local paper from the New York Times about truck driving and how it used to be such a great job and now is the pits. Low pay, way to many regulations and no respect for the drivers.
Many individuals stop and question my gardener, who is expensive. They want their landscape to look like mine but do not want to pay for it. A Heron found my pond yesterday and I lost 4 KOI. I had to remove a tree that hid the pond quite well because of wind damage and it was apparent the next big wind storm would take it down. Opened up the pond to view if they flew directly over the back landscape. I went out last night to turn on the BBQ ad there it was in a tree. Flew to the tree in the greenbelt and then took off. I counted my KOI and I now have 9.
Our high today is going to be 91 but it is cloudy. 91 and cloudy is actually very pleasant. Same tomorrow and then Friday back to 99.
I worked in the courtyard for two days straight. Sunday and Monday. About 5 hours each day. I ha the front door open so if Vern needed something I could hear him. The courtyard is shaded and with the door open the house was pulling air through the house which created a slight breeze. When I do that I turn off the air conditioner. When I start something like that, I get in a zone and just do not quit. I had to refresh soil and remove roots that had invaded from a bay tree and fig vine. I am going to place short oval pots in the beds and them transfer some baby tears to fill in areas showing. Much easier to control the roots that way.
I sent my I Phone on a swim in the pool late Friday afternoon. I had set an alarm to turn off the water and was turning off the water and stopping the alarm and next thing I knew the phone was turning circles in the air before it hit the pool and sank. Even with insurance it cost me $200 but I did get all of my contacts and photos back. But it took me 3 hours to get the phone.
Vern has a Dr. appointment at 1pm so I will try to make it back later.
Every time I work in my landscape, a condo starts looking good but I get over it.
My next door neighbor was in Newport last week and brought me a present from Rogers Garden. She stated since the redo, the place is unbelievable. It always was so to me. They had a very large piece of drift wood planted with succulents. Probably cost thousands. I think it would take a crane to move it and place it in a landscape.
I am going to clean house after Vern's Dr. appointment. House keeper will be here Friday but the house needs some work.
Vern's helper is taking him for a walk and then it will be time for her to go. This sweet woman, one at a time, is organizing each drawer in the closet drawers, each shelf in the bathrooms and dressing area and that is so wonderful. She asked if it was OK and I told her to go for it.

When I get back from Vern's Dr appointment, I will catch up. Hugs, Sharon
You know the old adage, 'if you have it a trucker brought it to you!' Hard job they have..see our got isushimg minimum wage to $15 likely in 2019.. won't be good for small business but great for workers.
Your gardens are show gardens Sharon, can only dream of having them, not so sure I could deal with the heat though.so where the driftwood is di you keep it amd just add to it?
Great news that Vern's helper is good to him, not always the case and the fact that she asks how you are doing shows pride in her work. I sure wouldn't complain if someone wanted to help me know with my chores..sure could have used her today!
Any news from Vern's youngest daughter?
Just realized I need ice for drinks and orange juice so best I run and get some before visitors come
Company just left, nice visit..so very sad, don didn't speak 5 words in 4 hours, just gazed around not knowing where he was..such a vibrant man, super intelligent, tan a newspaper and to see, what Alzheimer's has reduced him to....shaking my head.
Sure am ready for bed, earned a good night's rest.

I'm back home, safe & sound. Had a very busy & eventful week. Got to visit mom on Thurs, Sun, Mon & Tues. On Sunday had 2 visits with her, actually. She nodded off, so Robyn took me for lunch & we went back for a 2nd visit.
Enjoyed dinner with Bob's son/d-in-law/grandson. He's 2 1/2 & loved the dump truck we gave him.
The plane was delayed leaving because there was a scratch on a panel on the wing's underside and they got one delivered from Toronto lol
So sad about your friend Betty. Aging can be such a trial for some.
So sorry about Lacey Karen. Our pets are so like members of our family and it is truly hard to when they pass.
Glad to hear you are home safely Susan.
Ok Karen I am so sorry to read about your Lacey crossing the bridge. All of my guys will be there to meet up with her. Have you had a bit of down time since everyone has left.
Crisp morning out there today. Sunny but still windy.
BBL
Dianne

Lacey looks like she was a sweetheart for sure. So hard to lose a furry family member.
Betty, I am sorry to hear about your friend.
My DIL is in Florida right now with her Mom, visiting her Grandmother that has Alzheimer's, she has also had multiple stokes this past week and is not doing well.
Welcome home Susan. Glad to hear you had a good trip!
