We just had showers too. 2 inches in an hour.
Tell Linda we are keeping her in our prayers.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Back home, tired but had such a nice week. Starting Thurs. company will be arriving for the Memorial week-end. I think we will be about 24. DS is bring his camper, it will sleep quite a few so thinking all the kids will be out there. It will be a great cousins gathering. Sure hope the weather cooperates.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

cold damp day ahead, not an outside work day for sure, not raining but so damp you can feel the wetness..bones sure feel it!

Karen glad you got to sleep in your own bed, nice to go away but ebpven nicer to be home. You bring back such happy memories for me when you speak of your gatherings at the lake..was much the same at our home.

Saw Ziggy wanting to play with Sophie but Sophie just wants to rest, think she misses Ned and her MoMA

Took out fabric to work on another wedding quilt, as all of my supplies are in the storage pod I've only the totes wedding quilt supplies..finished one yesterday so why not get another one going..

So very quiet here this weekend, guess I could go to town for something to do but I don't really need anything so might as well stay home.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It is raining here this morning too. Looks like it is going to be a dreary week. Gray skies each day with so many "chances of showers"!! I'll keep plugging along on Norm's cat and throw in a book or two. I love my Kindle!!! Weeded out my bureau and closet of no longer using clothes yesterday. Made a bit of space for new?????
I really need to pare down all the quilting stuff as well. I know there are things I will never be using again. I have so many rulers and templates that I should put up for grabs here....
Edited to add that my prayers continue for Lorna and Marilyn. I'm not sure if Gord went also but I'm praying for safe travels.

Recount, we will have 27+.
Poor Lorna, so glad she has Marilyn & Gord.
Need to do some food shopping, I just get the basics as I never know what they all will be bringing or planning. I usually make a big pot of spaghetti or something for arrival day as they dribble in at different times.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I imagine Barb the funeral may have been Saturday or maybe today..didn't sound as though Gord was going to make the trip but I may be wrong..

Now you know Karen you are justbeingthe overseer and the gang are the ones doingthework.

Hasn't been the nicest weather for this our long weekend, sure hope yours is better.

Called mom and gabbed for almost 1/2 hours, guess I should have invited her to spend their weekend..

Lyndonville, NY

Saw a post from M that its been a long few days and that they will be heading back home in next couple days. Lorna is a mess she says and leaving Mom will be so difficult. So understand that.

We have same weather here...cold and wet! My plants I just put in are flooded. I can't do any near the house as I am sure....whenever roofers decide to show up....will destroy them. So will have to wait til that is done. DH called him, he has a couple ahead of us...but rain is throwing a wrench in their progress.

Realized it is 1:15 and still haven't eating. Going to grab a bite.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Long drive home for them, at least they aren't having to contend with winter storms....I thought maybe Lorna would decide to move back with her mom..it will play heavily on her having her mom so far away. Not sure how close her brother lives to his mom..

Sending you info Debbie on roadtrip 2017

Melanie just came and picked up Sophie, although well treated here I'm sure she missed her family and brother Ned...was fun having her here..Ziggy now walking around wondering where the furry is😼

Put a lot of time in on my sew sew weekend..trying to decide if I should push myself for a few more hours and finish the wedding quilt?? Have one quilted and these will make 2 tops with 2 more to go..one is for Linda's daughter my goddaughter who is talking about getting married..want these behind me so should something happen to me they will be made..

Ate turkey dinner, not sure is I'm hungry enough to warm up another plate for supper.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

it got to 79 today! Hot hot hot for us - not used to this heat! Had a Community Yard Sale - whole hamlet takes part and people come from far distances just to come for it.
Even after buying some stuff (yeah, I bought wool lol) we still came out ahead. Guess I'm getting better at not spending all my earnings lol
Looking forward to Wed! Can hardly wait to see my mom - at 98 it's been far too long since I saw her last. It's been 1 1/2 years!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Put the garbage to the curb in rain, looked at forecast and 6 of next 7 days will be rain days..guess I can fill them by sewing and painting craft room and rec room.

Can imagine just how excited you are susan to see your mom, she was u well last time you visited, hoping she is well enough to have a good catch up.

Girls come today, likely more a chit chat than sewing seeing the sewing room is hard to manoeuvre with 4 of us.will be nice to see humans. Lol.

The two men if true to their word should be coming this morning to start building and drywalling the wall inhe catch all room..sooo trying to being even more organized than before. if it can't be storedhen to the roadside or garbage it goes..have to make a design to see how best to make cupboards and storage..will be glad when this project is done

Think Ziggy is missing Sophie as he keeps looking around in the rooms for her.

Coffee is calling my name

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Now now Betty - you see humans all the time - Servicemaster guys come by lol
Nothing wrong with eye candy lol

Today it's time at crafting, and tomorrow the trip! Today we also get our outside water running! Don't know why it's not working though.
And tomorrow, after Bob returns home, Don's going to help him with the trim for the den, and the deck - Hooray! It means that the piano will get into the den then everything else will get into place! Then I can come home and decorate!! That week in Winnipeg will be great, and Bob can have me out of his hair so he can be productive at his own pace!! lol

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Finally got the new car yesterday evening. It's going to take some getting used to, it's so big! Need to deal with getting plates transfered from my old van. Not looking forward to dealing with the DMV for that. Need to get my son over to help remove seats, and get my dog crates set up in the back. Looking forward to heading to some shows with it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It takes some getting used to, make sure when turning corners, you pull out wide, so you don't hit the curb.

Well, the week is getting better, at least no more surprises. Monday I went to town to pay a bill. When I got back home, I opened a package that arrived, and it was from Academy sports. We had ordered a new pool for the year, but this package was in a small plastic envelope, so I knew it was not a pool. When I opened it, they had sent a dark blue carhart t shirt. So I called the 800 number, and told the guy they sent the wrong item. He asked me what size box I received? No box, small plastic envelope with t shirt, I ask how someone could get such an order wrong, and all he could say is that someone messed up. DUH! He apologized, and placed an order for the right item and it is supposed to be here by this week end.
That is part 1 of Monday.
The next thing I opened was a letter from social security. I started reading and had to sit down, as they decided to tell me that after collecting disability since 2001, they have just not realized, I should not have been collecting, and they want their money back. To the tune of almost $160.000.00!!! They will allow me to keep getting $185.00 am month until I pay them back for the next 18 years! I will be 80 before I can get a regular check!
I went to the social security office, and told them it is not my fault, I told them and my lawyer at the time I filed that I was collecting workers comp. Why did it take them this long to just now decide I should not have been paid this much?
So we have to fill out forms and file for an appeal, and if I lose the appeal, then I can ask for a hearing.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh no, LK! There should be a some sort of time limit on this. It's not fair that they come back so many years later and decide there was an error. If it took them 16 years to figure out, it's not your fault! Hoping just filing an appeal is enough to set things right!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

omg LK - you'd think they'd have a moratorium on the time - maybe 7 years (isn't that how long you have to keep your taxes, in case there's an error? Not sure what it is, for the States). Did they not pay their bills, and now they need Your $$ to pay them? I'm not making light of this, but geeze - maybe they're making the mistake now?

Heading out, in 1/2 hour, to go to Calgary to catch my flight to Winnipeg. Hope to be online at some time, but not sure when - am taking my laptop. Weather's not as nice there as here, for the week, but sure nicer there today. It's Windy and raining here now.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your vacation.

I just got off the phone with our congressman's office. They are going to send me forms in an email. I need to print out, sign and send back. I was told, from what I told them, i have a good case. They will look into things and help me out.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Good Linda, you have someone on your side. Still think I'd tell the lawyer, Hey you got me into this, now get me out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg and double omg withhands on hips..what an error tohave made on their part and yes, how did they continue to give you $$$ for so long..you must be sick to your stomach andunabletosleep..shakingmyhead..surely to God they will see the error in your favour..so sorry this happened to you.

Deb, will take some time getting used to it..bet she is a beauty though!
Dogs will think they are in doggy heaven.

Sharon called me this morning, one of her dogs is pregnant and having 4 puppies (seen by Ultra sound) she is extatic as the puppies will be from frozen seeman from one of her show dogs from many years ago.

We got xpcraft room painted , Aline and Darlene sure are troupers..even moved the paint organization unit from craft room to now a wall in furnace room..what a job but they did it.ll have to give a 2nd coat in some areas..

Guys came today and gave another coat of mud, Service Master is coming tomorrow morning to start the subfloor so that is a plus.

Called representative who is doing quote on flooring, she is off today..called adjust re content list that items need replacing, he is off today grrr
Guess tomorrow is another day!

Can't add photo's

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - glad you have your congressman on your side - if you have a case, then your lawyer could help you!

Betty - they're both off for the day, in the middle of the week? hmmmm Hope things get settled soon, but it sure sounds like they're motoring along on the room!!

Arrived safe & sound, at my sister's now, after having dinner with my daughter at a restaurant I'd never heard of before - Mongo's. Healthy stir fry - was really good :D
Going to visit mom tomorrow

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

A quick text with Dianne this morning. Still having connection difficulties all the way around. TH & everyone is Ok just going nuts with no connections.

Having yet another heavy rain here. So scares me with the flooding. Several people along lake have lost homes....40 foot frontage of house washed into the lake and up to their doorsteps.

Stay safe and dry everyone.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Hello again good friends. I'm just dropping by because I had a few extra minutes. I hired a nursing helper to help me with Vern from 930 to 1230 which is a big help. She gets him into the shower and dressed well I am dressing and making breakfast. Then she does the laundry folding clothes and cleans the kitchen. We are in our third day of 100°° plus so are summer has started. We had a very unusual spring because one day we be 60° then three days later we'd be 90 degrees and then back to 60. Poor Garden couldn't make up it's mind what it wanted to do. Like tomatoes are about two and half feet tall and loaded with tomatoes. . The cool downs really helped put on tomatoes. Bring got really bad because he had a kidney stone too to pass which then gave him a really bad UTI. Had to be hospitalized in the kidney stone had been removed in between that in the bed UTI about lost him twice. He was moved to rehab and was there a week and for all I could tell he was getting very little rehab and just sitting and will tears during the wall. I got there everyday at 11 AM I left at 430 p.m. His son came by at that time to have dinner with him.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

He was in rehab about a week when I decided it was a waste time any he was getting that ten minutes a day rehab, that it was time for him to come home. So I packed him up put him in the car and took him home. His daughter, who lives in Vancouver Washington, turned me into Senior Abuse for taking him home. When I got him home I immediately took him to our doctor and they tested for UTI and everything they could think of. He was fine, just totally run down from sitting and staring at the walls for a week. When the state people dropped by they saw nothing wrong and called her and told her so. After 43 years of marriage, that young lady, finally pissed me off. I felt Vern would be better at home and I could feed him what he liked and doi everything they were doing and doing it better.

Betty, I had the same problem as you had but mine water heater was in an equipment room on the outside of the house. The wall to the builtin room backs up to the kitchen, pantry and laundry room storage area. Had a drain system built in but the 5 year old water heater blew from the side and the insulation inside the wall soaked up all of the water and ruined walls, wood floors, wallpaper and baseboards. This happened March 13th and they have two things, minor, left to do. Everything is moved back where it was.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I keep sending this because I don't want to lose a long post.

Okay Betty here comes another lecture. You need to realize that you're getting older, I will be 75 in August, so I know and I am also one of the people that does not know how to sit down, but sometimes you just have to do yourself a favor and see all the wonderful things in your garden and overlook things that need to be done. Pneumonia is hard to get over, brain bleeds are difficult to get over and you had both. Come on young lady we want you around a long time. Your neighbors looking I don't live next to it because I set fire to his backyard.

Linda I'm so sorry about social security and it is a nightmare dealing with them to get problem solved and I was sending you many many angels to help with that. Good job going to your senator's office. But I don't know why you just don't write them a check for the $160,000. Didn't you save all that money.

Susan I hope you're moments with your mama are wonderful. And that you're Home will be finished by the time you get back. It has been a long haul.

Karen you are so blessed do You have so many grandchildren and to see them as much as you do. Summer is coming that this is fun time for you by the water I hope all of you have a wonderful time.

Barb, keeping up with you and helping to help your husband stay well is a full-time job. You are blessed with wonderful neighbors you have with this snow removal and I'm sure nothing will change during the summer. That is a blessing that a lot of people do not have, which is wonderful neighbors. I am also blessed without and that is one reason we still remain in this very large home.

I know I've missed a lot of people but I have not been on here for several months and had a few moments before the nursing help leaves.

Good news, burn laughed that three days ago for the first time in a long long time, So he is coming back.

Hugs to all, Sharon

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Sharon, so glad to see you back with us.
Goodness, you have been busy.
I would be mad at his daughter as well. Some nerve she has!

I wish I was able to save all that money. I just emailed all the forms to our congressman, and I know we are coming into a 3 day week end, so it may be a bit before I hear anything.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - bless your heart - having Vern's daughter "turn you in to Senior's Abuse" - Good for you that you took him to the Dr to get checked out. She's away over there, and you're with Vern - glad you stood up for him and his care!!! He's better at home, with you, and you & he know it!

I am having a perfectly lovely time! Wish Bob was - weather & wind are conspiring against him. The wind is pulling the house wrap off, etc. Will be nice when the weather improves - apparently tomorrow.
I'm not on very much - spending time with family is more important than online time.
Chat later, ladies

So glad you are back with us Sharon. Glad his daughter got shown a thing or two. Good Grief what does she do for her dad? She'd rather he sat staring at four walls? Bet she'd have complained if he was left at the rehab too.

Lost our Lacey today. We got her two years ago from a puppy mill, Poor little thing was so ratty and stinky, we took her straight to a groomer and made an appointment to have her spayed and her teeth cleaned. She was a pretty black & tan Cocker Spaniel and just as lovey as can be. All she wanted was to be close to me and never went more than a few feet away. Today we came home from getting groceries and she seemed to be breathing heavily. Very shortly she came to me and laid down and just slipped away. I guess she was waiting for me. She was costy in the short time we had her but I hope she was a happier girl.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda I tried eating the watermelon and have to say it seemed to help a lot. I love water melon so enjoyed the treatment. It seemed to be really soothing to eat.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about Lacey.

Glad to hear the watermelon tasted good.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Lacey had a good life with you and likely was waiting for you. Glad you retrieved her from a puppy mill - those things are .... well, I don't have words for them.....

Visit here is going really nicely. So good to see my mom & my relatives.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank you Karen for giving Lacey a good home and love. Her time with you was special for both of you. Happy the Watermelon is working for you.
Glad you are enjoying your visit Susan.

Touching base with TONS of thanks from Lorna (and myself) for condolences and cards, and positive thoughts ..
It was an experience, and the stress levels felt by her Dad, and Mom, were much like dears Sharons.. her Dad was treated VERY poorly in hospital .. physio amounted to standing him by the bed and holding him up !!
SO MUCH 'multi national' staff .. communication at times was horrible ..
At any rate, things are settling ..
We just missed a tornado in the Barrie area as we drove to her Moms, and, the temps were at 92F at that time, and dropped drastically after the tornado touched down .. the week we were there the temps were lovely

Again, thanks so much .. I am doing a weeks worth of laundry .. and, skritching pups :-)

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad you are home safely "M" and prayers for peace for Lorna.

Can one of you wonderful Canadians please tell me when Canada Day is? I have a sweet small quilt made for me by Thea with beautiful maple leaves and stars.
I want to make sure it is up and hanging proudly then......Thanks.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear you made it back, M. Prayers continue for Lorna.

Not a Canadian, but I believe Canada Day is July 1st.

July 1st.

Glad to her you are home.
We are also keeping you and Lorna and the family in our prayers for comfort.
Must have been scary going through that tornado. Glad you are OK.

Just heard from my handler in Florida that the dogs she had at a show last weekend have come down with canine influenza. My Bonnie wasn't at the show, but is showing signs, also. She had them all at the vet this morning, and all are on antibiotics. She's supposed to give me a call later today with an update. Two may need to be transported to the Univ Vet School for treatment. She said Bonnie was still eating and drinking, so that's a good sign. It's hard sitting so far away, and not knowing exactly what's going on.

Wonder where our Betty is off to, I haven't seen her post in the last day or so.

Deb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

Had company and not used to having men (workers) in the house so had to take a nap..lol

tired of rain, sure hope tomorrow is a sunshine day so I can get caught up with outdoor work, they are saying rain again all next week so it's do or die tomorrow.

Service Master won't be back now until flooring is done, then they put baseboard and bring everything in.

Hoping to have the extra work done before then, gives me 2-3 weeks to do so

Sharon, Lordy a lot has been going on in your neck of the woods..I cannot believe after all the years you've been married to Vern that his daughter would actually call authorities concerned about her dad's well being ..that is beyond comprehension..she should know you only do for Vern what is in his best interest..shaking my head and blood boiling!! Great news about having help in the a.m. Gives you time for you! Bet you've the bigger smile from watching Vern smile. Yikes 100 degrees...almost made it to Las Vegas on roadtrip this year the were going to rent a car and do a few days along the calf coast but Linda wouldn't fly, we picked New Orleans again the she had heart attack and can't go but we've put$$ towards venues so can't change trip, but one day .....

"m" you've put a lot of miles on this year..how is Lorna doing? Is she working at the cemetery this year? Bet those pooches missed you big time.s. Health care isn't what it used to be..bet you cringe your teeth at the changes since you were nursing, patient care very poor. Will Lorna's mom continue to live on her own? Bet puppies were excited to see you! How are the grands doing? Great you had the good weather, it's been terrible here all week.

Deb, that is not good news at all ..hope Bonnie holds her own..will you leave her or drive down to pick her up?hard decision.what can they do with canine enfluenza? Is it a fatal disease?

Barb, big year for we Canadians this July 1st, we celebrate 150 years..the community centre that is virtually in my back yard, treed lot separates us is hosting many venues, best I buy earplugs lol

I have a tote or 2 filled to the brim with July 4th decor, including quilts etc from swaps..

Was sorry Karen to hear of Lacey's passing, such a peaceful passing though..she knew her passing would be easier with you by her side.
Now for the duck's are theya new addition to your family?

Lindakay, doesn't seem right they can come after you after all this time..so hope something can be done...

Susan, glad you are enjoying family time

Omg wondered what was putting Ziggy into such a tizzy, realized the other day I bought bird seed and set in into empty planter until I filled the feeders, guess the squirrel found it..almost caught the chipmunk in the flower pot with the squirrel feasting away. Lol

Ziggy so wants out!

The aliens have finally brought the TH and I back home. I've missed you all. Haven't read yet but will go back and do so now.

I have some cell (text only), the landline works now and I can get powered up on my laptop but not desk top. I'm sure some of you heard the blue words coming from the north. Don't blame Debbie -it was all me.

Will be back after I catch up.
