Oh my, poor Doreen! When did her son die, recently? What a terrible blow. I hope she has some good support near by.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been quite a few years since she lost her son..they moved away after his death and we rarely see her..don't know what she will do

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh my.......... Betty - how devastating for Doreen. To lose both her son & husband in traffic accidents....... I'm sure she's in shock.
Prayers for her, and all those affected by this horrific accident :-(

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I am so sorry to read about these passings. I send you gentle hugs Betty to pass on to those in need.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you, heart breaks for her..

Milder out today, no snow in forecast, that is ok because I've mega things to do today but rather than go into town this morning I'll wait till I go to funeral then I will play Santa, on a time schedule right now.

Sharon and Melanie are coming tomorrow morning early so that leaves tomorrow out re Christmas shopping as I will be crafting.

Just finishing my coffee and heading downstairs..got waylaid, found another bag with Christmas..Missy (quilting thread) had sent me a large Christmas tree and I made it into shower curtain, then a snowman hanging that had different techniques and dresser runner, big sigh, bit much but colorful.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending my condolences to the family Betty. So sorry to hear of his accident.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Our landlords just dropped by and gave us a Christmas card & present - two tickets to the Dec 10th Community Dinner - that's $30, and they gave it to every household. That's 25 homes, and if each has 2 adults, that's $750! To quote Betty "Holy Wow!"
I'm going to knit them some toques....... maybe some Santa ones lol
It's easy peasy, and quick.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Busy day, just got in, bath running, using Debbie's bath salts, helps the aches and pains..

Got some more Christmas presents bought, glad about that..almost bought one of them in Kmart USA, glad I didn't because it was the same price here so saved about $25

Holy wah is right Susan, nice to see, know you will enjoy. Can see you with your knitting needles now knitting up a storm

That time of year, another invitation for a Christmas gathering

Time to soak, then a muffin and hot chocolate and might just go finish putting together the lanterns

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, that is really nice of your landlords.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

How wonderful Susan. Keep those fingers going with those needles!!!!!

Blah day here. Gray and still some lingering fog. The snow is melting so the TH aren't too happy with me when they come in. We've had a walk and the zoomies are gone for the moment.

My parents' dining room set went down the lane a bit ago. I shed a tear or 2 but it is too big for here plus the wood heat dries it out. It is going to be a Christmas present for a young couple. Now I have a reason to shop for a replacement. The dining area looks huge now the table and buffet are gone. Yes Debbie it is the one we all sat at when you were here. I'm having trouble believing that none of my nieces and nephews wanted it. I also can't believe how much stuff was hidden away in the drawers. I keep buying batteries and now the drawers are empty I won't have to buy batteries for a long time.

You would have laughed at Sassy. She came running up the stairs and across the room already to jump onto the dining room chair to get on the table. She was in mid air when she realized there was nothing for her to jump on.

Susan how wonderful of your landlords to treat you and Bob. Bet you will enjoy yourself at the function.

The stuff that didn't sell at the Craft Sale - the hats/scarves & mitts I'll give to my church here, for their Mitten Tree, and the 2 blankets will go to a fellow crafter who's making blankets for babies in Africa. Hopefully they will do some good in both places

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LOL... I can see the dog in mid flight with "holy cow" look on face... maybe a little back peddling to boot!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol That does sound funny!! Now that you mention it, Pat, I can now picture it too!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

I am exhausted, truly am, Sharon just this minute left, I'm thinking of going for poutine, having a bath and to bed.

Ahhh Dianne, how heartbreaking to lose a family heirloom but a, sure the young couple getting it will cherish it. So laughing at sassy, as long as out of have it you don't go to sit down on a chair and it's not there.

Sorry to hear your things didn't sell Susan..churches around here are doing luncheons and bazaar bags as the days of buying church sale items are a thing of the past.

How is your weekend going pat? Your dad?

Deb, where are you, at a dog show?

Santa's workshop was just a humming, Melanie got her wreath done except the bow and she had to go shopping for ribbon, will bring it back to make the bow, Sharon, well we got mega placemat binding on, a runner made and also barb thanks to your pattern made 2 sets of placemats and binding out on it..real production line

Busy day at Betty's workshop.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

TWO Thanksgivings later, I'm happy they are all over. Dad did OK, I had to move people and chair so he could make it to the bathroom in his scooter. He even had 2nds on the strawberry pretzel salad.
Less people, less prep and a lot more relaxed. Several commented it worked for them so likely will repeat this next year.

Next year when we are invited to my husband's nieces for 1.30 for Thanksgiving (on Friday) I will understand that a meal is still HOURS away. It was all a learning experience and I will do some things differently next year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Winter wonderland here, won't stay though, calling for rain later in the week.
Dianne, you getting this white stuff too?

Pat, sounds like it was a great celebration if you are already planning much the same for next year..how many were there? Your dad must be improving for his appetite to be so good..imagine 2nds...

I've been grocery shopping already this morning, imagine making a double batch of spaghetti sauce just so I can have jars for lanterns.

Have a goal, must set goals as my Christmas is 2 weeks from today, so here goes..quilt and binfpd last of the 4 Christmas tree skirts and put a My Canada' quilt on the frame..still a bit of appliqué to do on the top but manageable.

Debbie, I will try not to burn the spaghetti sauce, will make frequent trips upstairs to check in it..how are you feeling..Paul's surgery coming up shortly,

LESSON IN TIME MANAGEMENT

Want to tell you and only someone who knows me and how fast I move, how much I accomplish in a day would understand, Im always looking for ways to save time so I can play in Santa's workshop.

Time Management should have been my career, maybe not.....

Mind was busy organizing my day..I can do it, I can do it, yep I can do it, just need to be organized!

Had to use washroom facilities, Drats, no time for that 🤗 But you have to do what you have to do..

Hmmm could save time by getting out what I will wear today, got it in hand and in the washroom I go...while doing my thing I decide to save minutes by dressing..sounds like a plan..

ah ha new way to save time saved, a few minutes here and there amounts to a lot at the end of the day.

Hmm saw one piece left over, yikes forgot to put panties on, hmmm didn't save time, had to undress and dress again. Lol

Then off to foodland not only for groceries but to use atm, was short of cash by $60 to pay landscaper for fall work..

Got back from foodland, started spaghetti sauce (needed the sauce jars for lanterns)
Recycling is good right?

Drats and more Drats, forgot to get $$$ so back to Foodland I went, minutes saved are no more lol

Always add photo's to my posts but in this instance, not a good idea, not a pretty sight

LOL! Sounds like we all have those days!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

WHOOOOAAA Betty slow down if you are forgetting your panties in your effort to save time and then having to redress!!! (other option is go "commando", save lots of time! No getting in & out of panties to dress or go potty! lol)

(slinking off before Betty or others throw things at me for being rude and obnoxious!)

Never that Pat, you have me laughing..
What snow we had during night and this morning is now gone..just ate spaghetti and now going downstairs for 2nd part of my day...shouldn't have napped!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Has a productive day, quilted last tree skirt,,ready to hand sew the binding..Sharon left what was left of her fabric yesterday so made another set of tops for pkacemats and table runner..think she will try to come up Wednesday and finish them..right now she is busy hand sewing what was made yesterday.

I also got 6 lanterns cut out as well..didn't get the 'My Canada' quilt on the frame, Drats that is what you get taking a nap for a few hours.

Amazing still Betty. I have days like that so often. Usually I forget something from one end of this apartment and then will involve walking back and forth which takes all my breath!!!! At least I remember my undies!!!!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

You are NEVER going to live that down Betty! LOL

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, you are amazing. I work pretty fast but I thought I was having some dementia problems. So I went to the doctor. He told me to slow down. I was getting confused because I was trying to do to many things at one time. I took his advise and he was right. I also decided the house did not need to be perfect. With Vern, that is about impossible. Thank goodness for wood floors.

We had a big wind blow in late yesterday. We were suppose to get rain today but only got clouds and colder. We are now in the high 50s with lows in the high 30s.

Betty, the pressure cooker, steamer, slow cooker I got is called "Instant Pot". It was on Amazon a few months back on a special sale. More than 50% off. It is amazing. Pressure cookers today are nothing like they were when we were young.

Betty, Jo Ann's Fabric is having a blow out sale on all of their Christmas fabric. I thought of you and the rest of you immediately.

I am so happy that everyone sounds healthy and having a wonderful holiday season. I will start getting out some Christmas decorations tomorrow but not many. Whatever I bring out, I again have to put back. I have wonderful talent when it comes to gardening but nothing as far as sewing or crafts. You all amaze me.

Vern is down to 125 pounds but seem to be holding. His iron is very low but blood count is up. So right now we are working on his iron count to get it higher. He had a UTI last month and that was a challenge but that is behind us.

My daughter still brings over dinner every night and walks the dogs. Such a God sent blessing. I am still using the walker but mostly to carry items from one area to another. I also have a laundry basket that is on wheels so that also makes laundry easier and I do laundry every day.

I have been searching my mind for something for Vern for Christmas. I cannot come up with anything.

You all continue having fun. I am watching (lurking) all of the time but the majority of the time have nothing to report. Hugs, Sharon

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Congrats to Vern and YOU! As I'm sure you are responsible for a lot of the cooking, I'm sure some of the credit goes to the cook. As cook we can't control what goes into their mouth but we can help influence it.
I just try to keep my ears and eyes open to see what my husband might want or need. My son drew Ben's name for Christmas and has bought and programed 2 new garage door openers.
I bought him a new phone & case. Ben got a really cool tripod flashlight one year that was really handy, seat covers for his truck, a new plastic storage bin system for his garage. Those are a list of some of my husband's favorite gifts. Tickets to a game he enjoys? My husband bought me a heated seat pad for my car since my car did not heat up as much as I needed, I really liked that... Gift certificate to his favorite store?
Good luck! It's always a challenge to buy the right gift.

Morning everyone..
Should say afternoon as I've been up since 1:30, just can't sleep, have several friends who are the same, we chit chat 1/2 the night..I just give up now, get up and at it and if tired I'll have a nap.

Having company for lunch so I've already been to Walmart..needed desert for lunch as I'm having 6 over and then I've noticed there must be a mouse,/mice, they know Missy is no longer, she sure was a mouser. Thought you could buy the mice seed but not, they have these new type of traps, not for me so I bought those plug ins, have any of you tried them?? not cheap $34 but if they work I'd even buy more..

Always enjoy your posts Sharon, glad Vern is holding his weight although 128 isn't very heavy..
You are so lucky to have your daughter Sharon, you are blessed..sounds like you are being cautious as to what you do, that is great.

Pat has great ideas..not easy when one has everything

Spoke with all my family and all have the same answer, if we want something then we go buy it..did manage to buy Braedon an nhl sweater, only getting one thing $240 for a sweater? I need my brains checked..Noah, found out he ordered floor mats for his new car, they are on order so I'll call the business and pay for them..Melanie has to get me info..said from now on if I don't get a list mid November then they will miss out on Christmas.

Burning the midnight oil got me ahead of the game, finished doing binding on last tree skirt, doesn't call ties but am thinking of adding some, sanded and got ready for painting 6 lanterns, washing done, town run for timmies gift cards for friends coming to lunch today

Now I need to vacuum, was floors then figure out what time I have to out chicken pot pies in oven, soup is easy..maybe I should call Randy just to make sure they are coming before I start my meal, never know when some are unwell...

Betty, I looked up those pest chasers on amazon, and all the reviews are good. Says they keep the mice away.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

One of the reviews.

I decided I needed to write a review since there are a lot of negative reviews and I believe most of those reviewers aren't using the product correctly. If you watch the video, it simple states the ultra-sonic frequency bounces of hard surfaces and is absorbed by soft surfaces. So if you put it in your kitchen and expect to have it keep mice out of the cabinets, you may be disappointed. If the mice are coming through the walls or from the basement through openings where pipes go through, they may never be in your open space, but protected from the sound by the cabinets or even the walls.

The key to using these is to use them in the areas where mice are entering. And I think doing what you can to plug entry points also is a good idea. Prior to using these, we would have them in our kitchen - visible in the drawers and under the stove. We did what we could to try to plug holes where they may be entering with steel wool. This helped but didn't solve it. We then had our master bedroom done and I put poison in the attic. They ate the poison, but we could also hear them dragging it around in the ceiling above us - it was very annoying having just re-done the room.

It was at this point, we decided to do 2 things. We had an electrician install outlets in the attic so we could cover the attic space with 3 units - enough to cover all our space. We also put them in our basement in available outlets to try to cover our entire basement and garage area (prior to this we just had them plugged in into our kitchen outlet and bathroom on the first floor). I also still keep sticky traps in our basement (in the same spots I've caught MANY before). We do not have any on our first floor since we figured they were traveling in the walls and they wouldn't be effective.

It's been a long time since installing them in the final configuration and we have not had any issues since. No more listening to them in the attic and no more caught in the garage and no signs in the kitchen. So if you are going to use these, take the time to install them properly and also do what you can to block points of entry. The more you can do, the more effectively you'll keep the mice out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Lindakay, hmmm they are in washroom cupboard, no way of telling where they come in..I'm thinking after reading your review if when going to bed I might open cupboard doors it might help

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That is interesting that you can't buy DCon where you are. I can still buy it here stateside. http://www.homedepot.com/s/de-con?NCNI-5
https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=d-con%20mice%20and%20rat%20killer&typeahead=d-con scroll down to RAT, most of the others are the bait station stuff, not like the seeds you were describing.
I find putting the poison traps UNDER the stove, inside the cupboard below the kitchen sink and other places kids and cats can't get to is helpful. You might even get some thru the holes that you plumbing pipes come thru under your bathroom sinks etc. And any crawl space under your house?

Verona, ON

Morning everyone ! Like Betty I have been up for hours.

It was harder to let go my parents' dining room set than I thought.Lot of memories good and bad .I focus on the good ones . I was able this morning to purge and save some of the items that were stuffed in the buffet. Definitely won't need batteries for quite awhile. I arranged some things and was able to get the crystal and silver in the cupboard under the dry sink. Warren kept a small bar in the cupboards of the dry sink so I just moved it all back downstairs to his large and very extensive bar there. For a man who only drank rye and occasionally a gin or vodka with OJ there are a lot of weird and vulnerable bottles. There are 7 bottles of Jim Beam down there - Warren hated it but one of our American neighbours thought he did and kept bringing him more. That is 1 of the places I check all winter.

Good to "see" your Sharon. I have a little mantra that I say when I turn the light out to go to bed "please let Sharon's sleep angels find me tonight". This time change is playing havoc with the TH and myself. Chaos starts throwing their food bowls around 3:30. When I don't feed them immediately there are 3 very sad faces looking at me.

Sassy crept upstairs last night and under the bed. She often goes there so I can give her pets. I put a bit of her food and some treats there and she was very happy with herself.

See the dentist today for a fitting of the bottom plate. When I was using the water pic last night a piece of 1 of my remaining teeth came out. Sure hope this doesn't hold up getting my final fitting.

Sun is shining so the TH and I will go out and have a walk. Diesel and Duke have finished the third round of pills for Lyme but they have to wait 4 - 6 weeks for a blood test. The vet can open the Mott Thundering Herd Wing with what I have paid her since April.

Hi Everyone!!
Betty - as much as I don't want to say this, I have to - our former tenants have found us and sent us a "Christmas" card. As everyone here knows from previous info, they are not nice people and frankly I think they're just trying to turn the knife in our back "we know where you live" and I can tell from the address they put on the envelope that they've been here - they put the rural # of the highway on it.
The only thing they haven't done to us is physical violence - they've pretty much done everything else.
At the insistence of the Elder Abuse people, I did tell our landlords and they want a picture of M&C. I can provide a picture of Carolyn....... Our landlords think we should contact the RCMP as well. I will, tomorrow.

As for the items that didn't sell - I happily gave them to our minister, and she'll put them on the Mitten Tree (hats/scarves/mittens). I'm so happy that I can contribute.

Bob's finished putting the poly sheet under our addition's platform, and he's also added the required beams. The Building Inspector is coming tomorrow (Tues) to re-inspect as per his requirements now being met.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, I hope your dentist visit went well.

Susan, sorry to hear your old neighbors found where you are. I hope you can report them and stop them from doing anymore damage.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I wouldn't worry about the former neighbours finding us, it's our crazy former tenants.....
I'm doing something productive to get over this feeling of being scared, and my helplessness

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

SABLE: STASH ACQUISITION BEYOND LIFE EXPECTANCY

As I look at my drawers stuffed full of yarn, I know this term applies to me! How about you?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh Susan.... I was feeling overwhelmed and crowed AND frustrated so I decided rather than continue to try to work in my craft area, I decided it was time to sort & clean, TRY to create space. You know the contractor black plastic bags? the BIG bags? I rounded up 3 bags full of jeans to recycle into doll clothes & jean quilts.

What was I thinking??? I had two bins of folded and sorted colored jeans, some jean yardage that was given to me, all that went into the bags to make room for the other stuff. The 3 bags went to the guest room until after Christmas.

Guess that is the LONG answer to your question. YES SABLE applies.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ah yes - a purveyor of fine fabrics, that's YOU, Pat :-D

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

USPS says my package was delivered on the 26th. Please check your mailbox, front porch please.
