Evening folks !

Wicked hot here again today. When I went out around 8 am it was already over 90*. Just got hotter as the day progressed. It poured rain this afternoon for about 20 min and the result was steam coming off of the ground.

M I am so glad you mentioned Benadryl spray. I didn't even know it existed.. I have had what initially I thought were bites but after 3 weeks think it is probably wild parsnip. It is spreading but not rapidly. Anyway it burns and itches like crazy. I tried After Bite but it did nothing. Tried the Benadryl spray this afternoon and whoa almost instantly the burn/itch stopped. Thank you, thank you M for mentioning it.

Now Miss Betty I hope you are taking it easy today like you said you would.

Diesel and I are asking you for your prayers and positive thoughts. He had his tumour removed today. It was not a fatty tissue growth. It was hard with even harder spots within it plus a white, sticky gunk in some areas. The growth is off to Ottawa for further testing. I should hear hopefully next Thurs. Going to be a long week. He hates his flex cone collar. I think it is the sound of the velcro. I took the cone off for him to eat, turned my back and when I turned back there was blood all over the floor. Back on goes the collar. Duke and Chaos are keeping their distance from Dies.He has finally decided to lay down .... he has been wandering around for 2+ hours.

Oh Susan you will be so glad to have all of this behind you. It's been a long journey for you and Bob.

Three cheers for Lorna's new leg. Sure hope the new applicant from TB is considered.

Need to see if the fridge offers up anything that interests me for dinner.
Dianne and her TH

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Was thinking of Diesel today and I'm so glad he is home with you. I will keep him in my prayers for good test results.
I miss my pets that have gone beyond and each time I read about antics and illness with everybody pets, it brings them all back to me. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad. Sometimes it isn't easy to always focus on the good memories.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope you get rid of your itch and rash Dianne. Also sending lots of thoughts and prayers for good test results.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's a roller coaster day/night. Hoping things go well tomorrow for the move of the hot tub & piano, but I'm not holding my breath. I won't go into details, but suffice to say someone blew up at me (not Bob) and I ended up crying and going for a long walk (knees still hurting)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ladies :-)

TGIF.. get to sleep in tomorrow .. yay .. even though that's usually only 7am for me .. I used to be able to sleep like a rock, no more .

The wedding 'down east' is on Oct. 14 .. Lorna and I will leave Oct 11 the day after Canadian Thanksgiving, I do think we'll do Thanksgiving on Oct. 9th so we have the 10th to re group and then leave the 11th .. hoping for a relaxing trip .. we'll see ..

Taking Lorna for blood work later as she has an apt with her hematologist next week .. her blood has NOT been good, and, she is covered with bruises .. I so hope he doesn't put her in hosp .. if she needs platelet transfusions she could do it on an out patient basis ..

Cleaning out my upright freezer as I have LOST my pie dough .. I made up enough dough balls for 4 pies and the bag has vanished .. DH is off to another Sports show this morning west of here, so, I'll do it when he has gone ..

Hope all slept well

Good morning -

M - there is no longer a "someone posted" message for us to see while we post. And If you don';t look up....you miss them. Had a discussion about that on another thread, so you are not losing your mind.

Hot as anything already this morning. I should correct, is only mid 70s....but the humidity is 90% already!!! Feel bad for kids in the school, no AC....sports has been cancelled twice this week due to the heat. Did have a good rain yesterday though.

Prayers for Lorna with the leg and the blood work.

Hugs Susan, you have had quite a whirlwind this last year.

I have a naughty dog to attend too.....hope to be back.

Our Bessie Lou is sleeping in and getting rest I hope....and not out weeding!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

No weeding Debbie, couldn't even if I wanted to
Feeling mega yucky past dew days, how come you get worse when you should be better, only appendix for god sakes.
Having same temps as you..haven't cancelled my room in Buffalo Friday but I'd best make a remarkable improvement

So many warnings re wild parsnip Dianne, sure hope that it is not. Prayers for diesel

Drats someone at the door
Be back in a bit

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, not at logger head with someone in new park I hope?

"m" would the blood situation possibly hinder your not going to wedding?

Wanted to say, bessielou always is tens to Debbie. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you had a major infection from the appendix bursting. Please take it easy.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I echo LK Betty ..
Lots of crud got into your system, takes awhile to get out, and, the drugs will make you feel kind of 'off'.

Just back from the blood work run .. picked Lorna up at the cemetery, had put the passenger window down to ask if she needed help, then chatted with her boss .. she put her walker in the trunk .. as she was getting in, I pushed the button to put the window up and did not realise her FINGERS were in there, she let out a yelp and I about passed out .. will feel so bad about this for a Loooooooooong time .. I bet her fingers are going to be black n blue .. luckily she had one of Betty's ice collars in her cooler and we wrapped it in that .. by the time the trip was done, all looked OK .. we will have to wait and see..
Took her back to work after the blood draw as they are having a HUGE funeral this afternoon .. a very well known city man, owns a family bakery that has been in business for over 50 years .. he's younger .. just 58 .. a lovely Italian family .. Lorna wanted to do some special sprucing up around the Mausoleum ..

Betty & Dianne and Debbie .. I wore a sweat shirt today .. it's in the low 70s with lower humidity .. love it !

Ok .. firing this off .. hopefully I have read everything before replying :-)

Ouch ouch "M" poor Lorna! When does she get results from blood test

Almost ready to take my 1st ride

Guy just finishing up

Already thinking what is my next project..oh yes, floorboards for the entire upper floor and refacing staircase posts..always something right, I always do better with a next 'goal' in line

I know how much you and Mom want to travel to Buffalo, but I really think you should put it off til October. You will be much better then, the weather cooler.....and fall sales.

You need to heal, get the poison gook from the appendix out of your system.....and then get the meds out so you feel better.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know you are right, but mega things happening in October/November..trip to Buffalo with the girls, thanksgiving etc and need supplies from joanne..we will see how I feel, it's her birthday Saturday

Friend dropped off a fall projects I had ordered a few weeks ago..panel and fabrics..looks pretty

But, couch at this time is more to my liking!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad to see you are listening to your body when it says it is couch time Betty. I am going to start taking an afternoon nap myself so my head doesn't fall into my soup at dinner!!! I find myself nodding off around 4 - 4:30 every afternoon so I figure I best listen too....
Love the lift chair. There is one at my favorite quilt shop and I use it when there.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good Saturday morning ..
Whoa, we had a TStorm around 6:30pm last evening that SHOOK the house .. poor dogs were quite rattled, me as well ..only lasted half an hour but dumped about 1/2" of rain.
Overcast and cool this morning ..

Those riding chairs are wonderful .. Lorna's parents are still thinking about getting one .. they bought the automatic lift lounge chairs ..
Her Dad hasn't been down the basement in years, the last time he was he had a heart attack on the way back up !!

Barb, that afternoon drowsiness is usually a sign of low blood sugar .. a snack helps,or a candy .. I like the nap idea :-)

Not sure what's happening today ..

Morning all. Bit cooler here this morning but the humidity is supposed to come back.Looks like rain, feels like rain and my joints say rain and the WLs say rain.

Diesel had a good night. He only moved around a couple of times. He hates that cone with a passion. I have to admit the velcro makes quite a noise. When I was a Behavioural Consultant in TO I was called into a school where a teacher was going crazy with 1 kid. The kid spent his time when they were in a group yanking at the velcro on his shoes. Call the mother was my first suggestion and ask for her to send a pair of 'school' shoes with no velcro. This was in quite an affluent area so I wasn't hesitant to make my suggestion. I called mom and said even if you send a pair of slippers that would help just no velcro. He started a trend when the kids saw his slippers they brought a pair in too.lol

Barb I am a big supporter of afternoon naps. My whole family took them. For me I think it is because I get so little sleep at night plus the sign of low blood sugar on the days I forget to eat. Only 30-45 min but I feel so much better.

M enjoy the day ! Does your HS have Sat football or Fri. night football ? Here the 1 and only HS in the area have a couple of Fri night games ...... big doings out here. Huge crowd. We have a very good football team both Seniors and Juniors. It's all those strong farm boys.

The TH are having a tartar buster bone so I think I will have some cereal.Diesel has his cone off so he is very happy.

Betty you remember to take it easy.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourselves today ladies.
Dianne and her TH

Going to get those thunderstorms here today as well "M"
78 feels like 93 and humid

Folded the blanket I had on the couch, going to try and stay up today..put tight undy on in hopes it holds in incision, that alone would make me feel better

Nothing else on my agenda, just do little bit at a time

Greg/Mel dropped in last night, their anniversary is today 23 yrs, went for supper as today is Greg's company gold tournament, hope storm holds off for them..

Nothing like trying to justify ones actions, Greg kept emphasizing I'm to young to have done such a thing etc etc..know Mel wanted to also add something but didn't

Oh well

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - being at loggerheads with someone in our park is not our doing, but Zack's - he told Garth that it was his day, and told us that it was our day - so when I was talking to Zack, Garth got all "I wouldn't distract Zack when it's your day, so don't do the same". Wouldn't apologize either, when I told him what was happening. It's ok - I don't have to be friends with everyone in the park - there are some who take me the way I am, and don't try to run roughshod over people. I think that's just the way Garth is.
As for any other misunderstandings, they will all come out in the wash, when all's settled. Of the 4 households that moved here, we're all under a bit of "moving month" stress.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Makes it hard to adjust though Susan to a new community..hope it doesn't amount to anything, far better when all can live in harmony!

Changed reservations for Buffalo to the weekend after next, gives me almost 2 weeks to heal, mom was ok with that.

BIL Robert and wife Lorraine just dropped in for a few hours, on their way to Rama for an afternoon of gambling seeing it's raining. Brought a quilt top for me to quilt, paid $10 for a hand sewn queen top, sure hope I have time to get it quilted before Xmas for her...sigh

Did appliqué 10" X 48" snowman piece to sew onto the many 2 1/2" blocks I put together a few weeks ago, will soon be a fun Xmas quilt

Now it's nap time

Oooh, ohhh used my chairlift 5 times this a.m. Lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Nobody knows your body like you do Betty and if you feel the need for the chair lift then so be it. Glad you have it in now.

The quilt if finished - FINALLY!!!
No matter what I do, the photo comes out upside down!

Breathtaking Barb

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Again, so glad Betty, that you have the chair lift - you do know your body best.

That really is a gorgeous quilt Barb - you did yourself proud

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OMG Barb, how totally BEEEOOOTIFUL !!! The colours are outstanding ..

Betty ,, supporting the incision is GREAT .. do they even sell panty girdles anymore? I know they have Spandex panties at Walmart.
Is the porta chair quick ?
Good to hear you've postponed your Buffalo trip ..you'll feel much better ..

Well we had a good day :-)
Lorna got new shoes for the wedding .. beauties by Cobb Hill.
AND we bought the wedding gift YAY .. we each bought a piece of Amethyst Art .. Amethyst is the gemstone of Ontario .. we have a large mine here ..
Now I just need to figure out how much Lorna's new pants need for hemming and find someone to do it ..
I'm pretty much OK .. have a hair apt on the 22nd .. for a good cut ..

Dianne .. "The Day the World came to town' 9/11 .. is going to BROADWAY !!
Hard to believe tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of 9/11 ... I remember I was running back then and had just come in the house and Gord grabbed me and pushed me into the living room to see the goings on, I was in shock, and then, the second plane hit the towers .. we thought at that moment that we were done for ..
Horrible horrible day for so many people ..

Going to have a bonfire .. DH is on his way back home, 6 hour drive ..

Hope I didn't miss anyone :-)

Might mean a trip to Walmart "M"
Drats forgot to ask when I can bathe, hate these showers
Keep imaging sitting in tub soaking and because the staples came out early it opening up..silly silly I am

You are well organized for your trip east..amazes me, always thinking you should say south.

Don't think 9/11 is something any of us will forget

Watched flight 93 this aft..heroes every one od them..went to the location of the sight a few times, they were just starting to build a memorial.

Got fries and western from restaurant, no cooking here

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Last week a piece of the steel from ground zero was being transported through NH on its way to Newfoundland as a thank you to all the people there who so graciously helped all the airline passengers that were diverted to there. The story of that is "The Day the World Came to Town". When I read the book, I was so proud of my heritage.

That you should be Barb

Sure was overwhelming being at the site last year

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

omgoodness - I'm officially ashamed to say I'm a gardener - I was only thinking of bringing complete shrubs, vines and trees, when I could have as easily brought cuttings with me....
So, Tuesday Bob & I have to go to Calgary anyway, we may as well visit the old site and take cuttings of my other mockorange (brought one home with him today) and my roses, and the Saskatoon bush, and the roses!!
The honeysuckle vine is dead, as is the False Indigo bush I've been babying for 6 years, and it finally had blooms...... oh well, I'll get another of each of them, next Spring.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Happy Sunday morning :-)

Susan, with all you have been doing, forgetting about cuttings from the old plants has been the least of your worries ..I remember when you purchased the False Indigo .. feel bad about it dying.
How did the colonoscopy go ..

Betty, is your pain level decreasing some .. sure hope so .. when you have Appendix surgery you realise just how many muscles you use, without knowing it in that area .. bending, stretching, walking ..

Plan is to make an apple pie .. I finally found the dough behind tonights supper in the freezer ... organized chaos !!
Want to pickle some hot banana peppers .. temps are nearing the high 30s overnight this week .. Fahrenheit .. 46 right now ..
Drove through the cemetery yesterday, quite a few gardens are ready to be pulled out :-(
Am thinking I will go over and help where I can ..

Enjoy your day ..

~M~

Am sure our thoughts are 9/11 today
Prayers for all

High winds all night but sunshine right now

Lawn really needs cutting but rider gives rough rides so uncut it will be unless one of my boys drop in

Just learned that Norm's best friend passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. We are so sad today.....
Had a few things to do today and now I don't feel like doing a thing. I just want to sit and remember......

Hits you hard Barb, don't try and do something, take the day as it comes

Marilynne - yeah, sad about the False Indigo - had just come into its own, with the blooms - very unique and will get another sometime.
Didn't go through with the colonoscopy - was feeling sick and throwing up, so stayed home. I think it was my strong pain meds for my knees and almost empty stomach, with all the stress we're going through.
This is coming to an end though - Bob's home, and we'll just be going to Calgary on Tues for something to do with the lumber we're supposed to be getting, soon I hope.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Day is done, gone the sun ... :-)
LOVED Gurl Guides .. remember that song often ..

Got lots (lots for me) done .. getting ready to put my head down and give my neck a rest.

Betty, Jurassic Park #1 scared me half to death..glad we don't have those big boys inhabiting the earth now a days ..

Hope everyone sleeps well
