Home, headed for a shower, my hair looks like 'rat's tails' LoL ( fave saying of my Mum when my hair was down to my bum) sometimes if I hadn't brushed it she would say it looked like 'rat's tails' :-)
Anyway ,, Heather's Mom provided quite a challenge, she hasn't lost her modesty ..so,I stripped down to panties and bra and got into the shower with her .. it's a walk in shower, and, a bath chair .. so, it worked, and, she LOVES to sing .. so .. we showered to 'You are my Sunshine" on 3 part harmony LoL
Got the job done, and, she is spruced up to the hilt .. she's a lovely lady .. ALWAYS prided herself in her appearance

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OOPS ...hit the wrong button
Nuff said re the shower experience .. :-)

Karen .. nice to know you're feeling better .. enjoy your company ..

Deb .. an hour is about right re the assessment, if they start physio it would be very light ..

Wonder where Betty is?

Off to that shower

Well, we had an unwanted visitor in the yard this morning. Someone jumped the fence, and broke the mirrors on the loaner truck we had, because the caddy was in the shop getting the radio fixed. They also broke the mirrors on the mustangs, and kicked the door and back panel on the mustang.
Needless to say we are quite mad about it all. Security cameras are going up this week end.

I guess it takes a wrong headed mindset to think you have the right to destroy someone else's property just for the fun of it. What the hell kind of upbringing did they have?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is it really afternoon already

"m" what a heartwarming thing you did getting in that shower with her..you are an amazing lady.

Wow Lindakay, no wonder you want a security system..how hateful of someone doing it..they didn't break into the car, just did damage..will you have to pay
with your own $$$, guess not enough to warrant putting it through the insurance. Dog didn't bark??

Congrats Deb, exciting for you, was a good sending her to your friend..when is the next show? How you you doing, almost pain free?

Karen you won't know what to do with yourself once summer is over and company gone..you will experience the empty nest syndrome

Been busy, got housework done, the 4 fall pieces and just have binding to sew on mug rug matts for Xmas and I will have 12 done..ordered glass for 3 stained glass snowflakes I need for Xmas gifts, called Rita re her birthday, she is away so I will take her out for supper when things calm down for her, ate last of my roast beef pot roast for lunch, Lordy it was good, what else? Hmm in my jammies, must get dressed, going to a garden centre to look at legs for the cement bench I'm doing for Paul for Xmas, have the tops poured but need legs then I need boys to carry to top to back deck so I can do the glass work on it..so I have been busy, busy

Talked to mom, she goes Wednesday for her MRI, she has a nice coffee table and end tables for Kyle as he gets the house next weekend so I just might take a run to Newmarket tomorrow to look around a fabric shop then to Brampton to take mom out for lunch then Orangeville,p if it's early enough seeing I just found out they have a fabric shop there..looking for patterns of the unusual so I can use up that tote full of scraps.

Think I'm tired out just thinking of what I'd like to do this aft and tomorrow

Saw that Joanns had a 20% off entire order this weekend, hmmm perhaps I should change my mind about what was planned and head state side?? What to do, what to do. Lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Congratulations, Deb, on your dog Bonnie getting a "pick of the litter" championship point. Take it easy on the PT.

Karen - I was going to call, but as you have company, I won't disturb you. Glad you're doing fine and feeling better :-D

I'm going to see what I can do to make it nicer around here - sort some stuff around.
It was nice yesterday when the minister of the neighbouring town came to visit (Rev Tammy, from Olds Alberta).

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We will probably pay for the damage out of pocket and not report it to insurance. Sheriff said there is a lot of theft here lately, due to so many on heroin, stealing things to pawn for their next fix. Pretty sad.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Oh, Linda Kay!! How hateful of them....... You're not reporting it because it would be cheaper to take care of it yourself than have your premiums go up?
Glad it wasn't your car.....
It is pretty sad - they likely don't even know what they're doing - just vandalizing it looks like

Verona, ON

Hot and humid here today. It looks deceiving .... there is a nice breeze but it is a hot one. You step outside and you are smacked with heat.

M nary a drop of rain. Well it did spit for all of a minute.

Oh LK that is so wrong. What senseless damage. I know you have mentioned before that you have a high crime rate in your area. Here half the village leave their doors unlocked all of the time and it seems the houses broken into are the ones that are locked. Go figure.

Went out early and did as much as my back and the heat would let me. The house really needs a power/pressure washing of the siding. Was able to get the front door area cleaned up and devoid of nesting spiders.

The TH are happily ensconced on their floor vent. They don't want to go out and I don't blame them.

Interesting about the location of your house M. The farm house of course was right on the road ... back then they worried about being snowed in. Took a heck of a lot more to get to the barn back then. The old farm house had gingerbread trim and the house was built by 1 man. He was paid $1 a day and it took him 120 some odd days. There were additions built on over the years. The farmer Storms family were considered fairly well off as they didn't have to go outside to use the privy, the summer kitchen was attached to the house kitchen plus there was a small porch on the upper door. We see a lot of farm houses here with the upper door in place but no little balcony or deck. It was considered a luxury. This farm was originally a dairy farm, they raised pigs plus a huge maple syrup operation.

If I can get the computer to cooperate I'll BBL
Dianne

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LK .. security cams are a great idea .. hopefully there will be a sign saying they are installed and working.
Sorry to hear about, and see the damage .. are the Mustangs older?

Dianne .. this lovely coolness has been packaged and wrapped and sent to you .. I hope it arrives soon..

busy as always Betty .. sure do hope you find all you're looking for ..

Lorna has an appointment for another 'fitting 'on Sept.14 .. here's hoping Kerry has achieved the need, would be nice for her to go away with a new leg ..
Trying to organize this jaunt is getting a bit scary .. so many unknowns re accessibility ..

The shower scene ,I think, may be my last LoL .. altho, if need be I would do it again .. Heather called to thank me and mentioned that her Mom thought I was a bit nutty LoL

May be back later

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, it was our car as well as the loaner we had from the dealership. We have to pay for all damages. Our mustang is a 2007 mustang, it only has 12,000 miles on it. It was a regency conversion car, that cost a lot of money.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So sorry to hear about the senseless damage to the cars LK. What are these people thinking? I just don't get it.

Physical therapy went OK, lots of range of motion exercises to do. Right now the leg doesn't completely straighten and it has a ways to go to bend as much as the good leg, so lots of bending and straightening, some stretches, and some shallow squats. So far not too bad, everything is do-able.

Just got a call that Bonnie won again today! I'm anxious for the Afghan Club of America show next month so I can see her.

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Congrats on the win for Bonnie!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big yawn here, I is tired😴 Will not be a late night for sure

Not a wonder you are fuming Lindakay, that is a lot of $$$ to put out due to stupidity..

Dianne, nice breeze here and not as hot as yesterday..the farmhouse sounds so inviting..imagine working hard for $1 a day ..wonder if one equated cost of bread/milk housing etc. To what our wages and cost would be how we'd fare??

Bonnie is doing you proud Deb..where is the show being held next month?? Sounds as though you are doing everything right re your excersises, pays doesn't it? Did you manage to work all week?

"m" too funny, here you were doing all you could to get her in the shower and here she thinks you are a bit nutty. Lol. Am sure Lorna isn't getting her hopes high re the leg..you would think he would be so embarrassed that he'd cover cost of another new leg fitted somewhere else.
can't move in town, tourists/cottagers are out in full force this afternoon, taking advantage I guess of last few weekends before kids are back at school.

Managed to get the 2 pairs of cement legs and at bargain prices, I thought I'd have to pay $80 per set based on st Catherine's quote and this guy is going out of business and charged me $70 got the 2 sets

I then went into Home Depot, got the wood for witches hat project, sketched the hat and have the signs ready, still thinking about design and also the ground stake...bought another diamond glass drill bit, have the makings of 10 glass bird feedersso might as well get them drilled and made, you never know when you might run out of Xmas gifts ..Drats forgot e6000 glue needed.

Found package of bear supplies, armatures and eyes, Llremembered I promised one day to make bears out of Darlene's mom's lamb jacket and mink shawl for Darlene, should cut the pieces while I can work outside as not to have fur flying all over the place, now to find out where I put my bear patterns

Another yawn, might call productivity to a halt, tomorrow is another day

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning ..
A cool and dreary morning so far ..

Betty .. what a FLASHBACK that Persian Lamb coat was to me ..my Mom had botha silver one (as in the pic) and, a black one with a mink collar .. she loved those coats .. my oldest older brother once told me they were made from POODLES .. at the time I had a black poodle, I was horrified LoL

Deb, how nice for Bonnie, and you .. exciting times ahead ..
Hope your knee is feeling OK today.

Dianne .. did my package of cool weather arrive ?
It's just 50F here with a predicted high of maybe 72.

LK .. pardon my French, but, the damage to the vehicles just sux !!
Senseless .. 20 years from now (if the crap bonnets are still alive) they'll look back and think,"What was I doing' .. we can only hope that anyway ..

Not sure what today holds .. maybe a shopping trip to get dress pants for Lorna .. may do as my bud does, purchase 3-4 pair, bring them home and try them on, and, take what she doesn't want back ..hard for Lorna to get into and out of slacks ..

Have a stellar day everyone, be safe !

~M~

Knee was a little stiff last night, didn't help that Klaus chased a cat in to the bathroom when I was in there and banged in to it! The pain! I need to remember to close the door behind me, or keep the walker in there.

The show next month is in Rhode Island. I'm really looking forward to it. I've driven through Rhode Island, but never spent any time there. I'm hoping there will be time for some sightseeing.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Where in Rhode Island is the dog show Deb? And when? My hubby comes from RI and is curious....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wooo hoooo If I didn't say it before, I'll say it now "I love our new landlords!!"
They know that Bob & I are pinching pennies and hurting for funds, so when Bill came by today, he said that he's waiving the fees for what he did (plumbing wise) underneath our mobile, and will give us the bill so we can turn it into the City for reimbursement and keep the funds!
We got our pension auto-deposited today, and I'll go pay the rent, pay for the inducer fan for our furnace, and pay the Building Permit too. Oh yeah, and pay the balance of the lumber. Zack will deliver it for free, so that saves us $150 right there!
This is a stellar day! I'll need to buy the skirting from a new neighbour, but the siding is stuff Bob's retrieving from another mobile. It's all good!!!
He's still in Calgary, and I'm in Torrington. Well, time to go to the one & only bank machine in the hamlet (in the hotel lol)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan that is awesome. You have some awesome friends.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Bill just delivered the invoice for the plumbing ($455) which we can just present to the City for payment to us. The electrician said it would be about $300 (which he'll wait for about 2 months or whenever) and the Gas Fitter said about $600 (I'll see if he can bill the City directly, and maybe they'll pay for the inducer fan, too?!?! That was $250 we could ill afford, but no heat without a fan). I'm going to see if Calgary will pay for the Building Permit we also need to get, to rebuild our additions. Obviously the building itself is our cost, but maybe all the permits are payable by the City because otherwise we would not have these expenses if they weren't closing down the Park. They're aware of this. I put in a call to the City re: services they offer to help all those who are moving.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Lots of luck getting it all paid for.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Drats Deb, you could have really injured yourself..wow that dog show is far from you

T I R E D, left early this morning, just as the sun was rising..did 3 fabric shops, spent 2 weeks allowance. Lol. Got to mom's at 11am, visited, took her out for lunch, shopped a bit, visited a tad more and home I came.

Dropped into Greg's, he and Melanie were just leaving for. A friends on the lake, going to do a pizza party for their baseball league end of season game, those 2 never stop

Called Kyle, he and Brianna were just leaving Orillia, going to stop by and unload my car, loaded to the hold..mom had 2 large boxes of royal dalton's, wanted me to have them, told her they would have to wait for next trip..made sure I told her she is a far cry from the end of her days, enjoy her pretties but for some reason she says nope, time to purge and give items away..not fond of royal dalton a but I'll put them in the glass cupboard until such time I decide what to do with them

I will take photo's of the patterns/fabric I bought today..more projects to keep me busy

Stopped at a local farm and bought corn, carrots and beans, I will eat good tomorrow😉
Oops here is kyle

You had a busy day Betty. Can't wait to see what you got.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kyle was thrilled with the coffee table set and quilts..house has 3 bedrooms so bedding and blankets will help. Gave them the pumpkin piece, they loved it, now they are off to storage to put tables

Susan, how wonderful for you, when things are tough financially it sure is nice to get a boost.

Was saying Deb, that is one heck of a trip for you..did you take another wiper off

Dianne, passed holland landing, watering system was on and everything as green as can be..sure could smell onions..400 was dead stopped going north when I was going south and pretty heavy on my way home, really hot/muggy so guess everyone was heading to cottage country.

Today's stash

Think I will have enough fabric to make an extra 2 of the Canadian piece, won't know till I open the kit and see how much they have used

Could have made the Xmas snowman quilt without the patter, designed similar for Janice and she says it's gorgeous

Bought the fixings to do the Halloween quilt then thought about the 3 I already have and Halloween door panel I've yet to do and wondered why?

I like the red snowman quilt, that is one I will make if I finish everything I need by November.

Deb just checked a map .. that is fer sure a whopper of a trip .. will you travel alone ?

Sitting here trying to decide whether we should do another bonfire or not .. there is rain so close to u s, AND, it is chilly as all git out.

Read an interesting story about an elderly couple in Vancouver .. the last name was the same as a family name I have seen on Sharon's posts .. will spell this incorrectly I am sure .. Gottschalk .. Wolfram and Anita .. they have been married 62 years .. he requires more 'care' than her, and for the first time ever they are separated while they await 'housing' together ..
Anyway .. just thought I'd share that, in case .. :-)

Busy day buzzin around .. will do the pants/slacks shopping tomorrow and go the NEW LOWES which just opened .. just what needed here ANOTHER hardware store ..NOT !!

Deb .. hope your knee is ok .. after my hip surgery, I was laying on the bed on my left side (R side was the operative area) and, Smokey (the cat) jumped up and smack onto the incision .. I literally stopped breathing !!!!!!!!!!
No harm, No foul .. miss that kitter puss :-)

Betty .. that is one loaded vehicle, I think mine will look as such when we go east LoL
Gord collects Royal Doulton ... Toby Mugs .. He has 15 .. and I have some pretties as well .. lovely stuff ..

I think the consensus is no bonfire .. looks like MOVIE NIGHT ..

The show is at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI. It's the week of Sept 19th. About 1000 miles, so not too bad. I'll probably take a day and a half getting there, so won't have too much time, the show is Monday through Weds, and I'll have to head home by late Thurs or early Fri because my DGD's birthday is that next Sunday, and I'm sure there will be a party I need to be at! I know I'll have some time to explore a bit, but they do keep a pretty busy schedule with meetings, seminars, and dinners, besides the dog show.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Forgot to mention, Bonnie is 3 for 3 at the shows this weekend!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

How wonderful Deb. She is really doing well I will pass on the info to hubby....
Love all your treasures Betty
It was a great day here today. Low humidity and we opened all the windows for the fresh air. Just loved it.
Will be sitting around a fire next weekend "M" and will lift a cheer to you all. Supposed to be good weather here for that.
How are you feeling Dianne? Is the TH behaving?

Victoria Harbour, ON

"m" is 73 with a feels like 86 here..calling for rain tonight and tomorrow...hoping rain holds off for the baseball pizza party.

1,000 miles Deb and you make it sound like nothing..Lordy that is one heck of a trek

Sharon is going to meet up with inuk's handler one day next week , not sure where the dog show is?

4 years today I helped Sailor over rainbow bridge, Lordy I miss,her..tempted to look up breeders for border collies

Are you travelling to family next weekend Barb or are you expecting company. I should have looked to see if the fire ban is on as the pit is full of branches..wind has been terrible of late

Going to read a bit in hopes I fall asleep

M I am very sorry to say your package of cooler air did NOT arrive. It is 86 without the humidity factored in.

Great news about your Bonnie Deb.Is it a long distance for you to drive to RI? Bet you saw some stars when Klaus chased the cat into the BR. I said OUCH for you when I read your post. I am never in the bathroom alone. It doesn't help to close the door as Duke can open every door on the house. I just can't figure out what is so exciting about going into the bathroom with me other than I usually take them out for a walk.

OK this is now Sun am. This ^%#% computer conked out yesterday and wouldn't restart until now. Going to post this and hold my breath.

Can see there were several posts while my laptop was being a pain. Am hoping I can limp through today online and be able to go back and read them all

Dang me Betty and Dianne .. surely this cool air will start heading east .. it's just 50F here this morning ,, down right COLD !!

Dogs and bathrooms .. beats me, but ours are the same .. I think they know that you might be up to something, like going out, and perhaps someone might get to go ..?

Betty .. a puppy is such a big responsibility .. maybe you should try for an older dog looking to be re homed? Zoey came 'fully loaded', and, we haven't regretted one minute .. she's a charmer ..

Dianne .. sigh .. computers are mindless thieves sometimes .. the more I use them, the more I realize how much they have taken from us .. one of the most important being 'TIME' ...

Enjoy your Sunday

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

High of 75 today with a feel of 92', calling for thunderstorms but I'm doubtful..
sat on back deck and listened to the far away chatter and crackling of Bon fires last night, was tempted to set mine but thought I'd wait

I'm braving it, want fresh air so off went A/C, windows opened, need fresh air!

So quiet on the street, barely a sound, sounds of a fall morning

Not sure what I will get up to this morning, housework is done, supper ready Sooo lots of time to play

"m' did look at different sites, none available within a few hundred miles, will make it a daily toast, sure would love another

What exciting are you up to today?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow you ladies are BUSY!
Betty - one Lovely stash you have there!
Deb - congrats on the 3 for 3 for Bonnie!!

I'm dashing off to get ready for Church - service at Lutheran (not my denomination, but I want to go to service and not using gas $$ to go to next town over, Olds).
Cya ladies, later!!!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So humid out, not getting much done around the house today. Run to the grocery store was my only chance at AC, so took my time with that.

Bonnie won again, today! I am so shocked! Not that she's not a nice dog, but it's always someone else's dogs that can win 4 days in a row, never mine, until now! Another 4 day weekend of shows next weekend, then nothing until the Afghan Club National show in Rhode Island.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy Bonnie is on a winning streak, before you know it you will have to register her for Westminster dog show in NY..congrats, am sure you p've put mega time into her training.your friend must be beside herself being able to call you to say yet another win.

Cool downstairs but muggy upstairs..went through my tote and found several pkgs of 2 1/2" blocks so although patter is calling for 3" my goal is to use up scraps, although I keep using fabric from it, it just does not seem to go down..maybe there are elves that keep replenishing it lol

Jeff is suppose to be here shortly..have spaghetti on,blueberry pie defrosting, salads, easy fix

Guess I'm winter housing a canoe..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a great surprise, Jed and Braedon dropped in for supper..
Braedon had his 17 1/2 ft canoe with him, needs a place to store it so grandma has a 17 1/2' lawn ornament 😉

Asked if grandma was in a sewing mood, would I make 2 star war costumes for Halloween, Jeff said he was too old for costumes but grandma said she would love to make them

While I finished up supper Jeff and Braedon put the generator together, am happy about that

Got all the squares sewn together for the snowman quilt

Productive day

Lovely surprise for you Betty. Great they could get your generator for you.

The TH were not interested in going for a walk today. I offered several times but they ignored me so we all stayed home.

It is so darn hot and humid one doesn't want to move at all. I puddled around cleaning dirt out of the sills and corners of the lane facing windows. The dirt that floats in is terrible.

Going to shut down before this laptop decides to do it all by itself.

Sweet dreams everyone.
D and her TH

Verona, ON

Morning everyone. Another hot, humid, steamy day here today. Although for the first time in over a week the early morning temp is just delightful. I shut the AC off about 9 pm and opened the windows. I too love the fresh air in the house Betty,

The rain that was promised never arrived and no sign of rain for the week. Yippy Skippy the farmers are saying .... NOT.

Off to the dentist this morning. I knocked out a tooth when I fell off of the ladder plus the effects of the radiation has moved on down to my lower teeth. Sigh. Hope while I am in Ktown I can get my hair cut. Our Seniors' pension is deposited into our accounts this morning so the salon will probably be packed. The place is inexpensive and no appointments so is a great place for me as I hate to wait. Do any of you remember your grandmothers with blue hair?

Did you get some slacks M ? I can't believe it is September this week.

Congrats to your Bonnie Deb. That is quite an accomplishment. How's the knee ?

Going to scoot while I still have the computer talking to me. Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies.
Dianne and a very hungry TH

Seems the heat has brought out the worst in everyone this weekend. Heard the fire, police and ambulance sirens off and on all weekend.
