Morning

Turns out they found a seadoo running on the bay with no driver
Was rescue helicopter doing grid search
Hopefully a prank and not a drowning

Susan your lot sounds beautiful

"M" at least she is well, that has to be a relief for all..she soon will get tired of the life of having nothing and come home, here is hoping

Girls are coming this morning, on the run to clean up my mess and get garbage to the roadside

Drats, police sirens going

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That doesn't sound good Betty. Hope it all turns out okay.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Sending prayers for whatever the sirens are for this morning.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awww "M", I'm sure the time will come when the fun wears off her current situation. All Murray can do is stand by to sweep up the pieces. Unfortunately at that age, kids think they know it all. Having a few rounds with ones of my grands, absolutely no one can give him any useful advice because he knows better. He has a girlfriend who reinforces that notion and together they think they can rule the world. Everyone else is just dead wrong.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good Morning

ah Marilynne - there's nothing you can do to change your DGD's mind once she's made it up. Poor Murray - I can understand him being upset, but waiting on a bus isn't the end of the world. I used to say that when my son got to aged 30 he'd turn around and be ok. He is, sort of, and we're on good terms, but he still wants me to go the extra mile and see him - he can't afford to come see me. He can afford to repair a sail boat and live like a pirate however. Once he heard my drama about the tenants, etc and then my heart attacks, he must have decided I had too much in my life and now we talk as acquaintances... but at least we talk which is more of a relationship than we had.
Gas fitter should be here soon, so I'd best get dressed and get coffee.....

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Hope your DGD comes to her senses soon, M. I went through a lot with my son at that age, totally out of control. All I could do was to be there to pick up the pieces when things went wrong. In the end, he's turned out to be a pretty good kid, is the best dad to my DGD, and is a very responsible adult. At one point he did tell me I should have been harder on him when he was acting out, but you can only do so much.

Deb

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Deb - he told you you should have been tougher on him? wow - now there's someone that twigged onto the fact that he was really out of control back then. Good for you, for raising him to understand the right way to act, even if he didn't do it at first.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Talk about a perfect fall day, hey wait a minute, not fall yet is it??
I will take it

Raising kids isn't for the faint of heart is it..not till they have kids of their own do they realize what they put us through..I was lucky with my boys so having problems with Noah sure sent me for a loop

Girls just left, productive morning..going to eat then it's off to Home Depot for wood, Linda and a few girls want to make a Halloween piece so I'd Best Buy wood I need.

Anybody have an old chenille white/off white bedspread they wouldn't mind cutting up for me?? Trade a finished pillow for some pieces?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't have any chenille Betty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Mornin

The dogs are in an enclosure .. we do let them out to run and roam once or twice a day, but, given we never know what kind of a wild animal might be about that they would chase, we keep a close eye out.

Looks to be another hot day .. Lorna's trip to the doc led to her having blood work done which resulted in POOR results .. doubtless we'll be getting a call today .. you can look at your blood work results online now .. as she has a blood disorder what we thought was going to be low, was even lower than expected .. it's her platelets .. :-(

No chenille here, but, brought back lots of memories :-)

TTFN

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning

84 with a feel like 95, back to a/c for sure

Lorna certainly is having a time of it "M" sorry to hear about poor blood results..what can be done to increase platelets? Blood transfusions? Keeping her in my prayers.

Must call mom and see how she is doing, Sharon posted on my brothers Facebook page that mom is doing ok but thinks she is sick, she rarely speaks to mom..I posted that I had to disagree, spent a few days with her before she went home after looking after missy while I was away, clearly she did not look good..hmmm

Joanne is coming over today to finish her project, myself I'll be working on finishing fall signs

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - sorry to hear that your mom's not looking good. "eye of the beholder" eh? Sharon & you obviously disagree on what constitutes "good" or "ok" for your mom's health.

Marilynne - hope something can be done for Lorna's blood. Red wine, or Palafer, perhaps?

gas fitter is here, hooking up our gas stove. Hooray! We should be able to have heat today, too (as it's gas as well.....)!!!!!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Betty, did your Mom go in for her MRI results?

Glad to hear things are getting done for you Susan.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

contacted the local United church - maybe they can help us with our storage issue. Hope so. The metal shed fell apart in the wind storm we had (worst in 15 years, they tell us - now it won't happen for another 15 years? at least, I hope...... ) over 100mph, I'm sure

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, she is still waiting for her call, she told them she would go to a hospital that is further away from her if it means getting in sooner.

Nice to see you are sewing again Lindakay..the swap you are in, what were you to make?

Susan, that is some wind storm..is that the storage shed you just got and put up?

Should not have sat down, shaking my head no lol
Joanne was here and did I work her..she ended going home with a fall piece, amazed as she is not a painter how she just kept at it..while waiting for paint to dry had her sewing..she made a mug rug, just has to hand sew binding..know she will make a few oth those

Well best I get out and get the grass cut, was going to do it tomorrow but might get rain

Ohhh finally made appt for perm, thank goodness it's tomorrow afternoon, was starting to look like a witch

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

you, look like a witch, Betty? Nevah!! Even if you do love Hallowe'en, you couldn't manage that, successfully lol

Yes, it's the shed we just put up. Never got a roof, so that's the problem - the wind swirled around inside and caused all the grief. The walls are twisted and bent, so we have nowhere to store anything

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

GAG me .. it is about 100F here, and I am NOT happy ..
I am thankful for the central air, but, I would so like to go out.
We went for groceries today, then DH and I visited a friend of mine who also has a Westie .. her name is also Marilyn, and, she is without a doubt just one of the sweetest ladies I know .. she's in her late 70s, and, she loves giving me things .. I usually reciprocate .. but she prefers I don't .. anyway . today she gifted me with a wee tote designed with Westies on it .. and .. she had painted/made .. 3 Westie figurines .. I will post a pic later.
Her hubby "R" just loves her to bits .. made my day

No call re Lorna .. I called her hematologist to let him know .. I think the only thing that can be done is an infusion of ice cold gamma globulin .. a procedure that knocks her blood sugar sky high .. it comes down again, but, for the few hours it's up, anyone not knowing this side effect can get into a real tail spin (trust me I have seen it) anyway ,, another 'wait n see' .
Her boss is also back here from St Catherines (down east) .. he's a 'bear', but, he is happy with Lorna's work ..always a good thing ..
Kind of an arrogant guy :-(

Jeeze Susan .. high winds for sure .. be nice to be hooked up though :-)

Love the colours on the signs Betty.

Deb .. how are you ?

Dianne .. how's the TH, and you of course

BBL

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Holy cow - how does Lorna's system take such a jolt as low to high blood sugar then a dive again? Wild ride, to be sure!

Our friend, the other side of Olds (1/2 hr drive from here) has said we could store stuff at their place. Only way to get this there is by flat bed, for the amount and weight of stuff.
I promised a neighbour (the other side of the village, which means about 6 blocks (?) from here, that I would make her some raspberry ice cream from some raspberries she picked fresh. This was on Saturday, so I'd best get TO it, eh? Takes 2 hours in the fridge, then a run through the "maker" for 20 min to be done. Time to "hop to it"eh? lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Swap is items from our area. So I made the Texas place mats, and sending other food items from Texas.

Verona, ON

Evening everyone. I've been MIA thanks to Chaos. Yesterday when the cleaning lady was here the TH and I were downstairs keeping out of her way. Chaos tried to jump up on my lap, landed on the computer and the size of font on DG went swoosh. It was like 2 words per line. Didn't get it fixed until late today. Everything else was fine.

I missed you all.

I'm with you M - this heat is just way too much for me to handle. The TH were glad the ac was on both yesterday and today. Diesel loves the tile floor in the bathroom or the tile hearth. He lays on the BR floor with his head peeking into the bedroom. Duke on the other hand will ask to go out and bask in the sun on the deck for a bit.

Went to my GP yesterday - my back is in really bad straits. I zigged when I should have zagged in the garden that really made things worse early Tues am. She gave me a 'cocktail' of meds. Took them last night - fell asleep around midnight and woke up around 8:30 am. Wow! She felt my constant getting up and down during the night was making it next to impossible for my back to heal. I'll take them again tonight but don't want to get in a habit of doing it.

Oh Susan the raspberry ice cream sounds wonderful. Now I will probably toddle out to the fridge and have some black cherry ice cream. Its Chapman's - they are up Betty's way. Betty I can't remember the name of the town .. Stayner maybe ? - I can see the local IGA and the LCBO very clearly in my mind but not the name. When we did Meaford we always stopped there to get some things to keep us going. My GP yesterday laughed at me when I told her I was thinking about following the Mott male pain killer route - lots of rye. She said ah yes the internal linament. - known to be the answer sometimes.

Chaos is totally in love with the Subaru commercial with the puppies and 1 gets lost. He will run into the room to watch it if he is somewhere else in the house.

Sirens are coming across the lake again. Hot weather really makes for a busy time for our first responders. We had a murder/suicide yesterday in the area but there is a good chance it was suicide/suicide.Poor little Duke has been serenading all the sirens from this side of the lake.

Barb this heat must be awful for you. I remember when we were at Thea's you couldn't go outside if it was a certain temp.

Just finished a book The Rainbow Comes and Goes about Anderson Cooper and his mother Gloria Vanderbilt. His parents informed Anderson and his brother that they would be inheriting ZERO and had to make it on their own. Interesting that many think Anderson was just doing all his news reporting as a lark.

Chapman's ice cream is definitely calling my name.

Sleep well my friends.
Dianne and her TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Dianne - Black Cherry - I was just thinking that that would be my next ice cream to make - I have some frozen black cherries and they're calling to be made into ice cream. Isn't it wonderful/awful how ice cream knows our name? First, middle, last - makes it hard to resist when you Know it's You they're calling.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your back Dianne. I hope the meds let you sleep so it can heal. A good night's sleep is good for the soul.

Verona, ON

Susan Chapman's Black Cherry Ice Cream and Popcorn call me from the fridge. I swear I can't walk by it without a nudge "pick me, pick me"
Dianne and TH

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Chapmans is a favourite here as well .. but. frozen yogurt, Maple Walnut or Vanilla :-)
AND, now when we celebrate birthdays and/or anniversaries .. it's a DQ ice cream cake ....... decadent !!

Good to hear you have shelter for your possessions Susan .. guess the stumbling block is getting it to where is has to be .. I'm sure it'll come around ..

Off for coffee with Jo and some other buds this morning, always a delicious and hilarious hour or 2 .. ..

TTYL

~M~

Verona, ON

Morning everyone.

Body says it is going to rain, sky says it is going to rain and the Weather Liars say it is going to rain - do ya think all the stars are aligned and rain will bless us ?

Been up for awhile - meds didn't work as well last night but I did get a bit of sleep. Any time I can sleep for 2 to 3 hours straight is a blessing for me.

Have to think about what I can do today - both realistically and what I would like to get done.Might start emptying the closet from hell - it is packed from top to bottom, side to side with just about everything except the kitchen sink. This is a double closet so lots to empty out.

Oh M coffee with friends sounds wonderful. For some reason I am off coffee and haven't had 1 when I get up for months. This from the gal who drank 2 carafes of coffee before noon.

No chenille here either Betty... you are about 5 months too late. I loved that spread and used to wrap myself in it for years. I haven't had a good bedspread on the bed since the TH arrived. The chenille spread I had came with an old trailer we bought back in the early 90's. That was when we couldn't decide where to build on the 263 acres we owned then. Couldn't agree so dragged that trailer around sleeping in different spots for a few nights. We ended up building in a spot neither of us had considered. That old but well built trailer now resides at a friend's hunting camp still being used for 'extras' to sleep in.

Later,
Dianne and TH

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry you did not get much sleep last night Dianne. Maybe you can get a nap in sometime today?

Did you sell some of your property? How much do you have now?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It rained overnight here, but now the sun's out and it's wonderful (peaks under a cloud now & then, but mostly nice).
Our helper in Calgary has rented a flatbed truck, and will haul all our goods here to Torrington, and haul the rubbish from the demo to the dump. So, we'll have the piano, stove, cabinet, and he's going to bring a small shed here to temporarily replace the metal one that broke in our two day's worth of wind storms.
It's all good. Once we have the property cleared, we can start our "20 day" countdown to getting our buy-out from the City. Then we'll have the funds to do stuff like pay for the balance of the lumber and deliver of same, our permits, etc.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone,

Now you have me hankering for black cherry ice cream, wouldn't know where to start to make homemade ice cream..Dianne they opened an ice cream shop in Barrie, sell chapman's, ever so delicious..thank god I don't live closer

Dianne, thank goodness you love reading, bet it fills many a night that you can't sleep..been doing same, well not as bad as you, wake around midnight but am able after watching a show or two fall into a deep sleep

Wow that was a lot of acreage Dianne, what a great idea to spend time in various spots to decide where to build..smart thinking for sure.

Seems everyone has had chenille bedspreads...knew I should have kept mine..I will try to make a chenille piece to try the snowman project, who knows, may get chenille and not enjoy project, been known to happen

"m" did Lorna get any results re blood? Drats, her boss should be smiling from ear to ear with all the work Lorna puts in..shaking my head, never understand some bosses

Susan is bob still in Calgary cleaning the lot? Were you able to take some of your favourite plants/shrubs with you?

Went out today with a friend, glad I put a roast/veggies and tatters on before I left, big decision is do I eat before 4:30 when I get my perm or wait till after perm. Sure smell delicious

Very hot and muggy, why I decided to cook a big meal is beyond me but my tummy says thanks, mnot fast foods tonight

Decided, might take a small potato or two now and save my meal for later. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip, or butter pecan. Sounds like you have a handle on all that is going on Susan.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, Bob's still in Calgary, and we don't have all our shrubs yet - have to contact AlbertaOne to see where I can plant - I put a honeysuckle (looks dead now) in the garden that's already planted (actually, the fellas planted it for me, and in an already dug garden, it should be fine, I thought.... another story).
They have a bin, to put debris in, and later will get a flatbed to bring stuff over here - piano, shed etc.
Minister should be here, soon

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Dianne, did you get rain ?
Our 'weather liars' are in rare form here .. we have been predicted to have had MAJOR rainfalls for the last 3 days, and, nary a drop !!
Today we had a cooler temp, but the humidity still hung on ..
Love your idea of parking the trailer at various locations before building ..we bought this house where it stands, but, if I had my druthers I'd rather have had if placed in the centre of the 10 acres, not the front 5 .. but ..it'll do ..

How'd your supper go Betty .. betcha it was good ..:-)
The hematologists nurse called me back re Lorna .. she has an apt with him in early Sept .. and he will wait til then, UNLESS she shows signs that are untowards ..

Susan .. hope all goes well ..

Say .. haven't heard from Karen or Sharon in a bit .. hope all is well ..

Coffee was a BLAST .. stomach is still sore from laughing .. very cathartic ..

Off to bed

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I should give Karen a call tomorrow - I have her #. Sharon's been posting in the Cubits site.
Marilynne - Glad to hear that coffee went so well - nice to have a good belly laugh lol
Keep us posted about Lorna
re: us - things are moving along - eventually everything will be sorted. Looking forward to having a shed, so stuff IN the house can be stored in the shed, where it SHOULD go and I can do in-house crafting once again lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Whoa .. 54F at the moment .. cooler weather has snuk in, hope it sticks around :-)

I kinda think Karen has company .. family came to visit .. and I see Sharon sharing flower pics on FBook ..

My 'day off' .. doubt it'll amount to much ... am going to help a friend get her Mom into the tub for a bath .. Mom has dementia and has totally lost her ability to look after personal hygiene .. a reall stressor for my friend Heather .. here's hoping it's a successful endeavour .. am bringing change of clothes along, just in case ..

Heard my dog, Bonnie, that's with my friend being shown, got her first championship point yesterday in Atlanta. She was pick of the litter, but last to get started on her title.

Today is the start of physical therapy. It's supposed to be an evaluation today, but I was told to plan on an hour or more there. So, either they're very thorough, or there is more than just an evaluation, maybe actually starting therapy.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hi "M", I'm fine. I do have company and it isn't ending any time soon. I'm feeling better, still a few twinges but nothing bad. If I stick to my broth, it helps. Hard when everyone else is eating.
