Glad you are in no danger right now of flooding Lindakay. Are your temps giving up you a bit of a break?

Although I'm feeling like I've been lazy today I've not..

Picked up sewing machine
Made another mug rug ( perfecting design so someone who doesn't sew can make it)

Cut out 20 mug rug kits..Linda wants to do 10 so I'm sure someone else will want to as well..thought it might use us scraps, but so minimal it doesn't look like I've even used any

Cut out the Manitoba block for the kit Im making, only Saskatchewan and Yukon left

Even cooked myself supper, baked chicken, yellow beans, new potatoes and making fudge cake for desert

Going to eat then decide if I want to sketch the fall project I've got boards ready for

Am sure you've all done something much more exciting!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mug rugs - I have a knitting pattern for them that I should do and a Church Craft Sale to knit for lol
Your craft bags are sweet, Betty! Sorry that the little girls can't come to your place anymore, but that yard was horrendous!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still is Susan, but with all the growth I can't see it right now, come fall guess I will start complaining again..see the couple on the other side of them has a for sale sign on their lot, will make it harder to sell seeing next door is a town dump..one of the twins brings my garbage bins to the door for me..do miss them

Pretty soon Susan you will be able to take out your sewing machine, bet you've missed sewing

Notice a lot of flies at the window, no clue as to where they are coming from, to early to want to make a winter home..hmm

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Temp have been in the mid to high 80's, not too bad. Sometimes the humidity is 90% in the afternoons. Weeds are growing like crazy, but we need a dry day to get the lawnmower out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same here Lindakay, if I don't cut soon I will have to take after cutting. Do you have mega property to cut?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Rain, wonderful rain and, a temp of 64F :-)

The steaks done in the crock pot were a HUGE hit .. had corn on the cob from the garden and a salad from the garden ..

Took Zoey out in the car and for a walk today, she is such a wee blessing .. we sure lucked out when we got her ..

DH did well at the show .. his L knee is making him very unhappy ...he has had trouble with it before .. I have a call in with Joint Assessment team for him to be re assessed .. should hear next week .

Flies are trying to come in here too Betty .. change in weather after the full moon ..

Wondering how Deb is ..thoughts are with her ..
Dianne, how's Chaos .. I sure hope our rain heads towards you ..

DGD is still not communicating .. there was a young man here last week who was kidnapped by a drug gang .. 17 yrs old .. the police managed to stop it .. but.. it seems the prevalence of drugs in TBay is HIGH :-( No wonder we are worried !

Think drugs are a concern in every community "M", different times I guess
Is a worry though, especially being a good looking young girl.

Looks like we both lucked out at supper, I sure enjoyed mine as did missy
Had bought beans from foodland this morning but through half away, sure we're tasty though.

Didn't get the rain today, now calling for it tomorrow and Monday

Hope Deb is resting well and not in as much pain

Just gabbed with mom, she sounded much better..still waiting for MRI re lungs

Ready for bed, imagine

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Shower time and into bed to watch the last 'Tragically Hip' concert live from Kingston ..
The lead singer of this well known, and loved, Canadian band has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour .. when he learned he was terminal he decided to take the band on one last tour, doubtless it will be sad .. Gord Downie is a wonderful singer AND poet ..

Still resting here. Haven't taken a Norco for pain since late morning as they are really upsetting my stomach. Pain is tolerable right now. Couldn't keep down water earlier, may try a few crackers a little later.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sorry to hear that they haven't cleaned up the yard "town dump" eh? What ashame, when you're in such a beautiful yard, right next door. A true "Dr Jekkyl and Mr. Hyde" scenario....... You're intelligent and keep a beautiful yard, next door to THAT!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Perhaps Deb you should take one after having a few frackers so you get to sleep for hours without pain. Pitzzzz for sure when what would make you feel better nauseates you.you are not alone are you?

"m" not sure but think the Tragically Hip played near Bqrrie a few weeks ago..great band, sag about lead singer.

Susan, kept hoping I'd rub off on them. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Our yard is 100 x200 feet. Not too big.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Not a wonder I can't get rid of this cold...
Calling for 73 with a feels like 82..bearable
Rained all night and the wind is up, right now 62, Lordy it feels and looks like a fall day, like it..

Lindakay, much bigger and look what work you would have to do

Quiet day here, trying to decide if I should stay in my jammies ☺️

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning .. I slept in until 7:15 .. a challenge for me ..
Woke up with 'puppy but' on my head, Piper likes to come up and share my pillow, only thing is, he likes to kick out his back legs every now and then !!

Our next door neighbour, not really close, but we can see her yard .. has decided that since Lorna can't do her grass this summer, she is just going to let it grow .. WHAT a mess !! Finally at the end of July, she paid 2 guys to come in on machines and cut it, what a hack job ... yes the cut it, BUT, they left it too .. no raking and bagging ..
Yours is closer Betty, and, I feel for you ..

Pre fall day here too .. rained from about 4pm til 4am .. everything is watered ..
Nice and cool ..about 75 today :-)

Deb .. kind of a 'must' to eat when on the analgesics .. but tough if your tummy is revolting .. as long as the pain is bearable ........

Once everyone else gets up I'll figure out the day .. laundry for sure ..may go to my parents grave and check the flowers, then drop into a grocery store for a couple of items.

Enjoy your day everyone

Power went out minutes after last post, thrilled it's back on as the sump pump back up system worked, was just worried about how long it would be out. Greg came, was going to get the generator out, we decided as the system was working then we'd leave it a bit..cut out Yukon block pieces, little else I could now..now it's breakfast time,

Same here "M" thinking of opening all the windows and let the breeze come in, might
rid germs that have been housed here, sniffle,sniffle..

Aren't there landscaping businesses in your region she could have got. Too wet to cut/trim but I might go sit outside for a bit

Laundry day here as well, just 1 load so won't take long to do..I use those cloths you put in washer so you can do colors with whites..less loads that way.

Victoria Harbour, ON

"m" meant to say these furries have quite the life..
I wanted to finish cleaning the washroom but missy had other idea

Was headed downstairs to do some cleaning but decided my craft room can wait until I finish painting my pieces

Glad to hear your pump worked Betty.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh, that Missy lol quite a character!!

Sorry to hear that you both have messy-next-door-neighbour issues...... don't these people realize how ugly their yards are, to anyone that sees them? Mine's a mess of boxes, but we'll break them down and they'll go in the shed.... I detest a messy yard. Mine in the middle of demolition drove me crazy........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds as though you got a lot done Susan..the rooms you took off in order to move can that wood be salvaged and rebuilt where you are!

Deb, how is it going today?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Heading off to bed .. packed way too much into this day and my hip is letting me feel its displeasure ..

Love the pics of Missy .. DH still says NO to another pusser ..am hoping we might get a stray coming into the yard ..

I do think school for the Public Board starts tomorrow .. not sure .. Catholic Board is after Labour Day weekend ..

Sleep well everyone, hoping Sharon's sleep angels visit all of us :-)

~M~

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

doing much better today. Think I'll try to go to work tomorrow. If it's too much, I'll come home, but I think I can manage. Didn't take any pain pills today, and stomach is much better. Food still doesn't sound real appealing, but I did eat a bit today. Had a scrambled egg earlier, and part of a pork chop later, and a granola bar. If I'm going to work, I know I'll need to eat more tomorrow to keep me going.

Verona, ON

Public schools start after Labour Day here. When I taught I always used to laugh and say that they paid us the first day back so they were sure there would be teachers for the classes. We got a cheque in June that amounted to almost 2 months pay but we didn't get another pay until the first day of school. I used to pay all our bills and mortgage for July and August and what was left was ours to do what we wanted.

Humidity is creeping back in . More rain tonight or so they say.

Still concerned about Chaos. He didn't want any milk bones today but did eat his reward of liver drops when he obeyed me coming in and out of the house. He ate about half of his kibble but I hear him out there now chowing down what was left. The other 2/3 of the TH were a little off too. They haven't been getting as much exercise as usual with the heat and my fear of ticks.

Looking for Sharon's sleep angels tonight . Sleep well everyone.
Dianne and TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I hope that Chaos gets back to his old self again..... this is worrisome
Marilynne - sleep well
Deb - hope work goes well tomorrow, but glad to hear you're going to be wise and go home if you're not up to it.

We're supposed to have the gas fitter (dependent upon the meter getting in), and the tv/phone reps here tomorrow. Looking forward to having a land line again.. call me old fashioned, but I prefer a land line.....
We will use the lumber we can, from the old deck to make the new, and the same with the plywood for the rooms, but we're getting new framing lumber for the rooms. We have managed to get help from a Christian organization (we are feeling very blessed) to purchase $500 worth of the lumber, but we'll have to come up with the balance ($330 plus $150 for delivery). It sure is nice to get new lumber rather than the rotten lumber some have thought we should take because it's free....
Some lumber cannot be reclaimed, but we will reclaim whatever we can, of course.
We have been offered free, fairly new-ish, siding, and also inexpensive skirting - brand new - for $150 ($640 retail) from a resident of Torrington - we've been very lucky to find this, for sure!! Someone's been praying for us that we get the materials we need to build the additions - thank you for all your prayers!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looking for Sharon's sleep angel as well Dianne..watching we Are Marshall movie, about the rebuilding of the Thundering Herd after the loss of its team in plane crash 1970, what a struggle for entire town.

Hooe chao's is on the mend

Deb, a few more days resting might do you good..that is a short recovery time..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - that is a truly great movie based on a real story. We've seen it many times and will see it any time it comes on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Truly was a good movie Susan, watched it till the end.

Cool one this morning, 66 with a high of 70..really not cool but after the weather we've had it does indeed feel cool, a real fall day..

Put a painting garb on, will work on the fall pumpkin pieces

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Quite the mix here today .. we think ..
Wakened at 5:30 to rain .. woke Lorna, she said she would go to work because so many times she stayed home and the sun came out ..
As of now , 9:30am, it is still overcast and rainy, but, the weather liars say we will reach 90F by 5pm ..
Honestly, I am glad I do not have to gauge my life by the weather guesses !!

Have a zuchinni to morph into loaves .. looking for my chocolate zucchini recipe .. have lots of stuff to keep me occupado .. as long as the bod hangs on LoL

What is the name of that movie ? 'We Are Marshall'?

Good luck at work Deb ..

Dianne, how's the TH ??

Off n runnin ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

I believe it was "M" that or just Marshall..

Last night I had opened all the windows, trying to get fresh air into the house, just had to close a few, brrrr

Just got a call asking me for DJ net in Thursday but still not ok, sore throat and sniffling so declined..a, sure they will get tired of calling me😒

Damp so rather than watching paint dry (painted in moons) im doing appliqué on another set of blocks and did another mug rug..id say I have 4 more to make then I'm done with those..

Lunch time, maybe something hot would help, hmmm maybe hot toddy?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Excellent movie

Well, it was a major wind storm last night, and now we're move in the open, and no skirting as yet, so it was quite scary to hear - we'll get used to it, of course, it's all just so very new to us. We're used to being sheltered by 40 ft firs and other trees, and other mobiles being very close.
We don't have gas or tv or phone as yet, but they're supposed to be happening today. It's a waiting game for everything. At least we have our cells, internet, plumbing, power & we can play our DVDs, and cook on a griddle or microwave, so we're ok.
It hasn't cooled down so much that we need a furnace, but it's sure nice to snuggle into a warm bed at night - it gets cool then.
It's raining at the moment, so I'm going to warm up by getting some unpacking done, put on a sweater and have a hot cup of coffee.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, what is DJ net?

Susan, I sure hope you can get your home repaired before it gets cold.

Verona, ON

Beautiful fall day here Temps are down and a wonderful breeze.

I am cranky today so will see you all tomorrow
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, are there no trees? Just barren land were you are now?
Will take a bit to get used to for sure. Did Bob get all done he wanted to at the other lot in Calgary?

Did you go to work today Deb? If so I'm,sure you are mega hurting

These I pads, should have read for "dinner" Lindakay, shaking my head.

Shouldn't have sat down, was getting a lot accomplished till I did

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Managed a full day at work. Didn't accomplish much, but I was there, so I didn't have to waste a vacation day! A bit tired now, but I'll try to stay awake a few more hours, so I can sleep through the night. It sure doesn't take much to get used to napping during the day!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That it doesn't Deb..

Be a long work week for you, how are the dogs taking this 'don't jump on mamma?'
When do you go to the doctors next to see how successful the procedure was?

Dianne, how did your day go with the thundering herd?

I too am tired, takes a lot out of you waiting for paint to dry lol
I've got the moon and 1 pumpkin basecoated on the 4 slabs

Decided lunch was enough for me, think I will just make tea and toast then head to bed

Last night I took about 20 sewing magazines to bed and went through them looking for something exciting to do but found one maybe so I'll grab another handful and see if I can find something.

Still sniffling, maybe instead of tea I should make a hot toddy

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I go back to the doctor tomorrow, I know I'm supposed to have physical therapy, so I need to find out when that starts. The dogs have been pretty well behaved, though even though I don't use it for walking much now, I carry the walker with me, and they stay clear of that!

Verona, ON

Deb we found that the dogs reacted to Warren's walker the same way as yours do to you. Didn't work that way with the walker, me and the dogs. I finally started to use the cane. Actually if I didn't get the pups their walk on their time Tundra would bring/drag the cane to me and run to the door and bark.

Had a shower, made a hot chocolate (tried a new kind on the Keurig), enjoying this wonderful temp and I am still grumpy. Going to read for a bit and try and coax Sharon's sleep angels here.
Dianne and TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne if the sleep angel finds you pkease direct to my house please..
Had fallen asleep nbut awaken by a low flying plane about ten times..means someone is missing on the lake..always worry it is one of mine..

Deb, glad that the dogs are behaving..hope there is not a long wait for the physical therapy

Yikes that plane is flying low

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - nice to know that your pups are doing better! I know you were worried about Chaos.
Betty - Another project? my goodness - you sure can't keep you inactive! Hope that hot toddy works.......
Deb - happy to hear you were able to stay at work. When Bob broke his heels and was using a wheelchair, our cat stayed well clear - afraid to get her tail caught under the wheels, I guess.

Betty - there are trees, but it's a large lot and not a lot of trees on it - 3 spruce at the back, and 2 chokecherry trees on the side yard. Nothing to the west or north.
Tomorrow the gas fitter's coming by to check to see what he needs to set us up for gas heat & stove. We have our phone & tv - satellite tv so it's very different even though it's the same provider. Bob says we don't have our movie channels, and he doesn't like the way the guide is set up, but like everything, it takes some getting used to. We'll call them in the morning to see what we should have for channels.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning :-)

Dogs and medical equipment .. our 3 are pretty OK with it as Lorna always has either a wchair or a walker or canes. They mind the wchair BIGTIME ..

Good to hear things are coming around for you Susan... hope the gas guy gets there today ..

Deb .. physio will help ... hoping it starts sooner as opposed to later ..

Dianne .. aren't the cooler temps just awesome :-)
Hope you feel better today ..

Betty, we have had water bombers flying overhead .. so, must be a forest fire nearby ..

Off to the doc with Lorna today, just a regular apt ..

DGD and the BF were seen and spoken to by Murray on Sunday .. she is happy says she, and, not about to come home .. they were standing waiting on a bus ! Murray bought them coffee and burgers .. poor guy is just beside himself ..
