Happy Birthday Debra hope you have an awesome day

Wishing you a wonderful day, Debra!
Happy Birthday Debra. I hope you have a really special day!
I had a perfect day.. I slept until 10:15 am. Then I played outside a bit, and then Joe and I got the rain barrels undone, cleaned out and back together. After that we showered and went to a movie, then to dinner and then for a walk, and then I played down in the basement gardens the rest of the night. I have moved a lot outside already, and now I am ready to cut back the passies, clerodendrum vine, and calico vine from the ceilings. The duranta is blooming down there, time to cut it back and move it outside.. Had to cut the oleander back and put it in the bubbler.. blooming and all..*sigh*
That is a lot of plants in the basement.
I got my new Staghorn planted in the basket, Debra. I had peat moss in the garage to put underneath it and plenty of soil. It's hanging under my carport. The other things are sitting in my rolling greenhouse and the trees are outside. It has turned chilly again but I think the things under the carport will be fine. Thanks again. ♥
My pleasure, Carole. I love to share with people who love to grow. Next round of "send aways" in work now. As soon as I see what is what, I'll be posting in this forum.
What a gorgeous day outside! SO far nothing has been hurt or even pouting from the few nights of high 30's we have gone thru. It helps starting them out in the garage in front of the big window, they get hardened off faster that way. It is empty now ( sorta, not counting the other junk in there) , so ready for the next load to come up and out LOL I gotta have my garage back so I can park my Civic in there when there is threat of hail!
I know what you mean. My garage is full of "other" important (?) stuff too. I had a double carport set up right behind the garage due to concern about hail damage and winter weather. It holds two cars but I only have one car so the other side can accommodate things like the garden hose, the rolling greenhouse, the gardening cart, bags of soil and so forth. :)
Beautiful gardens and flowers Carole!
I agree.. you have a real cool succulent garden. Staghorn looks very happy!
I like the wild geranium, too. Love anything perennial or native. Joe took me to Dutch's Greenhouse today, I haven't been there in years, Oh My.. I spent 22 dollars on a 4 inch pot of lavender for Joanna, and ALTERNANTHERA "party time" and "grenadine", and a pot of double yellow datura with 5 plants in it. 22 bucks. Wow is all I can say, was going to let Joe buy me a tropical hibiscus, they had everything there, and anyway, It was covered in white fly's. I told him no thanks, I inspected all the rest of my plants after seeing that. Anyway, the other day I went to Hillside Feed n Seed and came home with two new double triple lillies and still have no clue what color, but saw the top of one of them was also covered in bugs, I sprayed with soap water .
I told Joe he can get me the hibiscus and poppies at Walmart for a lot less, bigger plants with no bugs.. I am dog sitting Dottie and Wesson this weekend, only this time it is in their yard. LOL so glad for that. they are huge dogs.
Watch those lily bugs, once you have them in your garden, they will destroy any and all lilies.
I love the dogs on the fence, they are so pretty.
Beautiful day here yesterday and going to be another one today. Spent most of my time outside playing with the flowers planted some Hostas under the trees in the wooded area and then finally got started on the yard. I will finish what I can but we forgot to go and get gas so will have to pick up more after work tomorrow. Not calling for rain until Thursday night do should be ok. My back yard was starting to look like s hay field
Love all the pictures. Everyone have a great day
Morning everybody. Great looking dogs, Debra! I had a similar Clematis at one time. It was in a large pot. I know I've had 'Nelly Moser' and 'Niobe'. Perennials are my favorite too and I plant very few annuals. I get a 'Giant Marconi' pepper plant every year to put in a large pot on the deck and a couple of varieties of sunflower seeds. I have some organic Arugula seeds to plant. Also some Malabar spinach seeds.
Thanks, Linda. You're so right about the lily bugs. :( So far I've been free of lily viruses. I do have a little of the lily leaf streak on some of the common ditch lilies. But those things are so hardy and I'm not growing them to win any awards so I'm leaving well enough alone. I love them because the crowd out so many weeds.
I worked outside for awhile yesterday and did get a little pink from the sun but not burned. The worst thing was that I found a tick crawling on me last night. Ugh! Hate those things. It reminded me that it was time for the cats' flea and tick drops so I treated them both his morning. Frankly, those two cats get better treatment than I do. ;-) There is some bamboo coming up so I cut that back again. I've treated some spots with sodium chlorate. It kills everything. It's the worst invasive I have here ... that and the wild grape. The fella who originally owned the house let it grow along a fence line and even planted some by the deck steps. I've eradicated most of that but a little of it still comes up in spots along the fence. The neighbors aren't the best about edging along our common fence lines and that makes it difficult for me to keep things killed off.
Around here honeysuckle is considered an invasive. I do have Alabama Crimson honeysuckle but I like that one and it is more well-mannered. I know there is Japanese honeysuckle (that's the invasive) in the back woods and also Winter Creeper, however I like that one even if I do have to have it cut back from time to time. Fortunately. I have no kudzu that I can see. That plant can be a nightmare in the South. Check out this photo. But even kudzu has some benefits. It controls erosion of large, steep areas and goats love it. People are even renting out goats now to come eat your kudzu.
It's really about planting things in the right location.
Kudzu
Linda, I've been thinking about you a lot. I'm praying that you aren't having flooding. I hope you can check in with us soon.
I am here. Lots of rain, but nothing compared to what Houston is getting.
Beautiful blooms, everyone! I have lots of Dwarf Iris blooming and other things. I will try to post some pics.
Those are beautiful blooms.
Thanks LK!

Beautiful pics Annette.
Lovely flowers! :)
Hope everyone is okay in this rain. I could hardly believe what I heard yesterday, 17" in a day?
A.
Some parts of Houston got 24 inches overnight. I am not complaining yet. Things here are staying watered, but not waterlogged. :)
I hope everyone is still safe from flooding.
Nice, nice photos, Annette. We have many of the same things. I always love the Irises. I have one blue Iris blooming and some purple ones about to. It has rained a lot and I haven't gotten out to check.
You all enjoy your day!

Morning everyone.
I hope all your gardens are doing well.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you.
Back At you, Linda. I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. We got some rain, and more to come, YAY!
Glad you are getting the rain you need Debra.
We are getting more rain than we really need at the moment. We could use a little break, just long enough to let the ground dry enough to work the garden.
More rain here then I need also but will be begging for it in July and August if it is the norm for Ohio. Had a great Mother's Day after I got home from work.
Nice rain today on our freshly planted onions. They should really take off now.
Beautiful cultivars, Linda. Love the pink trio a lot.
Beautiful roses Linda. I planted some of your morning glory seeds in the top concrete blocks where I have the rose you sent me. Hoping I can get them to vine the way I want
They are pretty easy to train, you just need to give them a nudge now and then.
Yes I sholdn't have any problems at least I hope not. Calling for severe weather here again tonight. Am really getting tired of it
