I agree, you have a lot waking up, Carole. How nice to know what is from whom/. My special things have me thinking about you all when I see things growing.
I managed to gt a few shots of a few things and am thrilled to see m flowering almond looking so good since it was just a tiny start.. so happy by my one and only buckeye has a bloom!
Spring chat 2016
My Dwarf Flowering Almond is blooming too. It looks like the tallest part was killed back over the winter, but what's left is blooming now.
I have a Bottlebrush Buckeye. Yours is a Red Buckeye, Debra?
Love the Violets and the Bleeding Heart ♥♥♥
oh yours is much bigger than mine.. I can't wait!
The game is either 4 or 4:15 pm my time. I've got the TV all set up to tune in automatically. It certainly has been a strange basketball season this year. Middle Tennessee knocked out the #2 seed Michigan in the first round. Who'd a thunk it?
Debra, do you have a small Staghorn Fern? I also don't have my ZZ plant anymore. Susan (FruitOfTheVine) gave me the one I had and I've been looking for a replacement.
One of my cats keeps sitting on the computer key board and correcting all her typos is really slowing me down. :)
Carole, I found these, I will send you the staghorn I have since I am really just out of "lust" for it. that sounds bad, but if you Will Love IT, I'll Send it. It is in a basket but ready to attach to a wood slab if you have the time. Also , I am bumping this quote up so I can remember what I want to send you.

Nice pics Debra and Carole, You guys are about 2 weeks ahead of me , I would guess. We are expecting a hard freeze Sunday night so I will hustling trying to cover up what I can, some things may have to hope for the best. I have giant Allium that the foliage is almost a foot tall, and Purple Sensation are 8" tall. Will they freeze? This is the first year they have been up this tall with an impending freeze.
I think those are cold hardy, Annette. Mine are :) Do I need addresses to send things to you and Carole? I think I do, and Robin's too. If you all could send me that info to my regular email that would be awesome. I have Kat's and Linda Kays for sure.
Email me at hondagrl57@sbcglobal.net.. thanks!
Carole, that is so pretty.
My address is in the Address Exchange here on DG, But I am also emailing it to you. Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Linda. How are you doing?
I am doing pretty good. Still going to therapy to find some long lost muscles, but there are still there, just need to learn to use them again.
are you able to drive more now. Linda? Golly, I'd go nuts if that were me. (((HUGS)))
we never appreciate what works on our bodies until it stops working :P
I can drive no problem. Just lifting the leg can give me fits sometimes.
Glad to hear you are on the mend, Linda. Debra I sent you an email, did you get it? I wrote about 2 paragraphs and lost it and had to start all over. Makes me mad when that happens! I hope I remembered everything the 2nd time around.
that should say Pulmonaria, darn auto correct!
LOL! Beautiful flowers.
really pretty Annette, did get the email, thought I replied but who knows, I was at work LOL
Never heard of a Pulmonaria, so now I have to google it, cuz it is pretty.
Pulmonaria aka Lungwort, Bethlehem Sage. It is definitely a "must-have" for the Spring garden. This is a new plant for me, first time blooming. It comes in different colors, I think.
So pretty, Annette. We are having such nice weather. I've never grown Pulmonaria. It looks interesting.
I see my Celandine Poppy is blooming now ... and the Tennessee Ostrich Fern next to it is up and looking good. The Creeping Phlox are in full bloom. The Flowering Dogwoods around the neighborhood are also in full bloom. ♥
wowzers! the phlox is blooming like that here, and for some reason I don't grow it, but I sure like the looks of it. I have never seen that fern before, my outside fern died I guess, Joe loves ferns. My honeysuckles are blooming to, and they look like yours, silly me can't remember their names. I have always wanted a dogwood tree. I wish I had one, I have planted seeds but haven't seen any pop up yet. my poor lily of the valleys got ran over by the big front loader , I see a few bloom tstalks, but the leaves got scraped off. *sigh*
One is 'Alabama Crimson' Honeysuckle and the other is Tartarian Honeysuckle (I think).
My grandparents had creeping phlox all over the side of the hill leading to their upper veggie garden. I loved the brilliant patches of color as a child and I still do. It was the first thing I planted when we moved here. :)
I just remembered one is called goldflame, one is called blanche sandman and another called john clayton and then there is the Halls .. // gee, didn't know I had so many!
That's what one of my honeysuckle's is - Goldflame, not Tartarian.
It's sure windy here today and cool. Overcast now and the sun just went in.
Beautiful creeping Phlox, Carole! Can't believe we are expecting Flurries this weekend!
Thanks.
I know it. It has gotten colder here again too. Bummer. I had hoped we were all through with anything that even slightly resembles winter weather. The good news is that it is supposed to warm up again quickly. I hope it stays that way this time.
Annette, we are expecting a coating of snow tomorrow with the high only reaching 39. Guess it will be a good day to be at work and maybe by next weekend it will have warmed up.
Snow is a four letter word, lol.
I agree. :-)
It came just a coating but still hated to see it. I want summer. LOL.
Snowing here atm Just flurries, but darn it's cold!
gosh you guys, I saw a pic I had last year of snow on APril 10th. I sure hope we don't do that this year, My tropicals are out and have been for almost two weeks.
Debra--
We are all sick and tired of these fluctuating temps!
Tonight--it will be 29*. It is almost mid April!!!! What gives?
I do not have anything planted outside yet--just a couple big pots pf perennials,
which I keep dragging in and out of my shed.
My grass needs mowing--it is long and lush--but the ongoing rain makes that impossible. Running out of patience here.....:o(
At least--I can show you my beautiful Clivia blooming again.
I divided my big one--and this is one of the divisions. Fardy plant!
Hope spring comes soon--to stay! Gita
Gita
Oh, that Clivia is gorgeous, Gita. I love Kaffir Lilies.
It's still chilly here. I bought a couple of Boston Ferns yesterday and stuck them under some shrubs by the house so they wouldn't get frosty. I want to put them in the two big pots I have on the front steps. I had the Maples in the front yard cut down so now I have to think about what I plant out there. It is much sunnier in the front yard than it used to be.
Cville_Gardener
Thanks--the Clivias are show-stoppers when they bloom.
Is "Kaffir LIlies" another name for the Clivia??? I never knew that.
Gita
Beautiful Clivia Gita, I am with you on the crazy rollercoaster weather we are having. Enough is enough, I am ready for Spring to be here to stay!
Cville_Gardener
Thanks--the Clivias are show-stoppers when they bloom.
Is "Kaffir LIlies" another name for the Clivia??? I never knew that.
Gita
Yes, it is. Clivia minata. Sometimes I remember Botanical names and sometimes I don't. :)
That clivia is a show stopper and no matter what the botanical name is it's pretty. ;D
I agree, that is beautiful!
