YAY.. great to hear your home LK, hope the ride wasn't too bad
Hope being home speeds your recovery .. did mine .. and the visiting home nurse and the physiotherapist that viisted me at home during the weeks following, still stay in contact ..
Have a good day :-)
Laundry on the go, and, garbage ready for the dump ..
Next item on the agenda once the dogs get back in .. is .. COFFEE ..
DH is on my 'poopoo list' .. left his cell phone at home yesterday .. I was frantic ..
He called from a pay phone at about 2pm .. the eye doc is NOT concerned re the eye .. this coming Thursday he is going to put all the major drops into it so he can see the back .. he MIGHT do some laser fidgeting with the lens that is in there (after the cataract surgery she put one in)
Anyway .. DH seems relieved .. so .. it's all good I guess ..
Off n runnin

Best worse, what did I learn today, February 2016
Morning all
Bitter cold, sunshine day though, can't believe that Wednesday morning I could see the ground and now this winter wonderland, oh well, this has been the easiest winter that I can remember in many a year..kids have only been on their machines a few times, so happy campers they are not..at least Greg has a week in Newfoundland to enjoy snowmobiling, he sure is looking forward to it.
Not great news "M" to heR of Gord's eye problems still continuing, did the Toronto specialist say if the operation didn't work what the next step would be...how is Lorna, getting antsy, won't be long and she will be back to work..
I'm with you Karen, terrible hospital food, I always had someone smuggle me in meal hoping they wouldn't get caught...a timmies coffee and donut for breakfast was always welcome.
Susan, anything special planned as an outing for Susan? Is Bob still on the list of the unemployed? Bad time of year to be looking for work
Lindakay, bet it felt great to be home..did you have tremendous pain having to sit all those hours on your way home? Will you have someone come in for your therapy or will you habpve to go somewhere..still less pain than you had before
I too was thinking of Judy re the veil, she sure would be in a tizzy
Deb, how are the dogs? Sharon bred one of hers, although the vet said it was impossible for Ember to have a litter seems she is pregnant with at least 3
Barb enjoy your time with that special young man..Noah came and spent the night Thursday..he'd comment on something and I'd say I bought that last year..lot of changes seeing he's not been here for over a year and lives but blocks away..big sigh..here is hoping
Off the enjoy a sunshine day, hope same with you all
The first hour was a rough ride, due to all the construction on the roads. But vicodin came to the rescue. I need to call home health and get them scheduled. We have a really high king size bed, that was almost impossible to get in and out of. So hubby is going to remove the metal frame and just sit it in the floor for now.
AKkkkkkkkkkk .. LK .. I had/have the same problem !!
I used a wee stool to get up onto the bed, it was a real procedure .. your way sounds good as well .. probably better ..
I still find it a 'great hike' up and into bed .. course I usually have to dodge 2 sleepy puppies to gain my little space LoL
Great to hear Noah came to stay overnight Betty ..
We are basking in a temp of 0C right now (32F), and sun .. tomorrow .. snow !
I'm still thinking about Judy, the bird, and the veil (sounds like a movie) I would have vomited I think .. always another veil, but >...........................
Off to fold laundry
~M~
Finally caught up on all.
LK, was following but couldn't post from my phone. Have been in thoughts,
hope the healing is going well and be patient!!!
Still fighting health issues here, and just can't function proper. Trying to find
new doctor, no one accepting new patients or are an hour drive away for a
family doc....looking at a DO, which has a different way of treating and think
what I need. "Body as a whole" instead of just certain problem...whats causing
body to do this. Now to find one accepting patients.
Miss you all, stay healthy and safe
Debbie
I'm working on my quilt Round Robin - hope to have the center done today.
LK - just let yourself be pampered :-D
HOLY COW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's +45F here !!!!
Just sayin :-)
~M~
it was +61F here yesterday, and now it's +39F and snowing LOL
Just sayin'......... :-/ lol
Time to watch a movie .. no idea which one
I kind of wanted to watch the Amy Winehouse documentary .. but, no one else does.
Watched 'Big Boys don't cry' with Hillary Swank last night .. good movie, but, umm, sort of 'graphic' ..
She played the role very well ..
Ahh well we'll see ..
Hope everyone is OK
HUGS
~M~
I'm rather pleased with myself - I'd been having a terrible time trying to remember how to piece a quilt block that I've done many times before, and it's been almost a year since I'd done any piecing. With much difficulty I did one. Today I did the entire block with no mishaps! I'm ever-so-pleased! Looks good, too. It's for my good friend's lap quilt - for a pick-me-up that she needs......
Paint me GREEN (with lots of white) and, call me Gumby!!
Just in from shovelling the patio and dog runs .. we got about 5" of snow overnight
Totally unimpressed ..
Lorna is suiting up to go out and plow, and I am taking a break to have some coffee ..
LK .. how are you doing? I know it's exasperating right now ... but, 'things' come along ..
Betty is it still cold in your area ?
Dianne .. hope you and the TH are doing OK.
Sharon .. what's happening in Nevada .. hope your head bump is not causing you any grief ..
Waving to Deb, Debbie, Barb, Judy, Joyce, Susan Karen .. everyone
~M~
Hello and Good Morning!
Things are starting to pick up speed here!!
I got some of that nylon clear thread hoping to mend all holes...that was no help made a one of the hole bigger! So had to fess up to Julia. Both of disappointed but I will make her another. To look at it from far not too noticeable, however place it next to her dark hair, ackkk very visible. Going to get the veiling today. All she said then, don't leave it out again, duh. And bird!! was punished to her cage... Judging by the size of the hole I've decided it was Flo.
So the wedding plans are being finalized. Invitations are getting assembled and will go out next week...
In between all this keeping house in order has been a bit nuts, but making it work.
So yesterday I was sitting here fretting about the Bridal shower, what am I going to serve...When in pops a great idea! So big happy smiles, got the Cookbook Dianne gifted me in the SW. Guess what I am making 3 recipe's from it. What a great book, It is just chalk full of great information and I just smiled at the thought, were I could do this!! The shower is in April so I have plenty of time to get ready for it.
Meantime, I got some serious sewing to do. I am making a jacket for myself and a shawl for Julia and her veil, whew!
OMG, lets see...Bahamama party was a huge success!! Had a nice turn out and the weather cooperated at least being cold, lol snowed the day.
My Brother Jack and Candice came with the kids and a baby sitter for the night!
Well, little Jack went right to his favorite spots, found the books and movies. The girls were there cute little selves and we had a really great weekend visit.
...Little Jacks new favorite game is making it rain with the sprinkler in the kitchen sink, At least until Aunti's hands fly to the hips, Told him he had to wipe up all the water, from everything and he did. After Cleaning up the foyer, I said Jack please stop the rain in the house. He stopped, yay.
In the meantime, I have been searching for a job again, sent my resume out to several, heard back from none, sigh.
Took MIL again to hearing aid place, hopefully nothing happens to this one. So afterwards we stop by to visit with Kenny.
He is pretty skeletal and I can hear his breathing is more girgly? I guess that's what you call it. But he is comfy and moves along pretty good with his walker.
Jake goes every Wednesday to play Chess. What a great kid, Uncle had an accident and Jake helped to get him clean and changed. Now he takes plastic gloves with him, just in case, The girls call him to chat. They have gone to visit.
Julia is buying his Jeep...OMG, it's pretty hard to watch him give away his things to those he wants to give something to. MIL is taking this really hard and I've been just keeping her sort of calm. Even rougher today DH is going to the funeral home with Laurie to make arrangements and Laurie, I am proud of her to be dealing with all of this. They are very homebody and all the traffic in and out has them a bit frazzled. Kenny said it's a parade!
well that's all that's going on in my world...
Linda Kay, so glad your home with minimal pain. Good idea about the bed.
M, yikes...I was glad to see Gords eye isn't bad!
Dianne, Gladyou and Thundering herd are hunkered down for the last blast...OMG, sorry to see you had that fall, am glad your not hurt badly and hopefully on the mend.
Haven't seen Sharon in a while, hope your on the mend from your fall too.
Karen, how are you doing? glad the storm missed you...
Barbara, So glad Sean in for a visit, hope it's wonderful.
Deb, Hope your doing alright! Well at least mud is frozen again. We lost power a couple times during that wind storm. and yikes it blew over the greenhouse half, was just used for storage but still, and my new canopy cover has a nice big rip! So I need to get that repaired before it gets worse.
Betty, so nice to see you posting. Was sorry to see Inuk isn't well. Are you feeling better yourself? Think you had the flu thing going around. Sure hope your feeling back to you. What you been working on?
Waiving to everyone, will try and pop in more...Just by time I get to sit and write I'm too tired to think, lol. But I do try and read everyday.
OK coffee time.
Ohhhh, and PS found a Hobby lobby not to far, Im pretty excited to and see their fabric!! and all the other cool stuff.
alright the brat is making lots of noise so got to go...see you later.
Glad Julia knows about the veil Judy. I can imagine what that was doing to you inside. Now you both can look forward to a new one. Also glad to hear your party was a great success. They always are as you and Steve are great hosts..
Glad to see you post Debbie and Dianne. Soon spring will be here in earnest and we can all get outside again.
Sorry about Gord's eye "M". He doesn't seem as concerned as you but I guess that is just men!! We worry about every little thing. Temps here are driving us crazy. Real cold and windy one day and warm and sunny the next.
Happy to read that Noah spent an evening with you Betty. Doesn't seem possible it has been over a year.... You are keeping busy as always and I'm trying to do better than I have in the past.
Been busy here finishing up my Antique Charm quilt. It is now on the bed!!! Pictures to come. I finished the quilting on Stacy's table runner and just have to sew down the binding. Picture of that then. Next is a double Irish Chain. Looking forward to that one.
It was great having Sean here. He is so grown now - a sophomore in high school!!!
He can get his driver's license in July! Impossible for me to believe. We were in Hillsboro yesterday to look at an apartment. I can no longer do stairs. When we had the night time episode with the fire alarm going off, it was a wake up call for us. Trying to hurry and all only emphasized how bad my breathing is and we both got a bit frightened. Norm especially thinking of getting me out when he wasn't home. Needless worry really because as soon as we opened the door to leave, there were four of my neighbors there to help if needed. Anyway, we made the decision to move once again. I do think I told you that we moved here due to Norm's job location and six months here it changed back to where it was and more north!!!!! So this is a good thing. As long as I have internet, I really don't care where we are but being in Hillsboro will be great to be near my daughter again...
Off to sew binding. Have a great day!! Waving and prayers for all~~~~~
Lovely sunny day here but still very cold. Nothing is melting at least at my place.
Well Duke just pulled a good one ..... he is the counter surfer supreme. I made the crock pot roast with the ranch et al...... I wondered at the time if I should have put French Onion soup mix instead of the Ranch. It was a cut of roast I had never used before too. I didn't care for it at all so planned to give it to the dogs. Well they got some tonight and I wrapped the roast and left it on the counter. Got all taken up with reading on DG and forgot about the roast. Duke didn't and there is not a roast anywhere in sight.
Oh Barb you really have been busy with your sewing. Looking forward to seeing the photos.
Stay safe and warm everyone.Don't you be sending that snow to me M..
Dianne
Hi all - just popped in to say I'm praying for all in need, and now am home from church.
I have an upset tummy, so am going to go lay down.
See you later.
Afternoon everyone.
Barb, I can't wait to see your work.
Hey Judy. Wow, you sound like Betty with all you have been doing.
Sounds like Duke had a craving for a roast.
Hi everyone ..
Barb, you do such lovely work ..will be nice to see the pics when you can get'em :-)
Good luck with the apt hunting ..
Dianne .. that DUKE .. omigawd .. sure hope he doesn't get the trots
Sorry you didn't care for the roast ..
I think the snow has going/gone southeast.
Judy .. yep, you'll be busy .. best of luck ..
That Jake is a sweety .. prayers continue for Kenny ..
LK .. how are you feeling ?
I shovelled a titch too much .. have cranky bones now ..
Going to TRY and watch the Oscars .. might make a half hour ..
Lorna goes for approval for a new leg tomorrow .. S O P for the government ..
Nighty night all
~M~
I'll be keeping Lorna in my prayers that approval is swift.......
Here's hoping that Lorna gets her new leg asap - I"ll keep her in my prayers
We are back home and I'm ready to snooze. We enjoyed it all but did a lot for just a week-end. Always happy for a chance to see the greats and grands, even if it's just for a short while. Sweet Caroline and Jojo were glued to me all the time we were there.
On the trip down I saw for the first time ever an eagle nest, amazing how huge they are. This one is in a woods and far enough from the road that this is the only time of year it would be visible.
Memorial for my aunt was very nice. Enjoyed the time with my cousin and am glad we are getting close. All the family dynamics that kept us from really knowing each other just don't exist any more.
Nice but short visit at oldest son's. While we were there they invited us to join them on their trip to the outer banks in early April.I really have to be a busy beaver if I want to get enough done before then.
Stopped by a grandson's house to pick up more shirts for the t-shirt quilt. Got to see their new house and the developing baby pooch. He also made us a delicious lunch.
Trip home was uneventful until the last 15 miles and it got ugly then, blowing snow and low visibility made for a tense ride. But we are here now, no place to go and a lot of sewing to get done.
Linda so glad your surgery is over and you are home. Now you can concentrate on healing. Do only what you are supposed to do and no more...
Glad you're home, safe & sound, Karen
Welcome back Karen :-)
Sounds like a good time, and busy, was had by all ..
Those Eagle's nests are really something, and, you're so right, best time of the year to se them is now.
Woke up as the wind chimes are going crazy .. about to head out and take care of some snow :-(
BBL
~M~
It is a beautiful day here - supposed to hit 50+ - so I am thinking of sitting in the yard for a while and enjoying it.!!!!!
Hope you get out to enjoy some of the good weather Barb.
Wind is still UP here .. and I have decided that I have shovelled the most important stuff .. the dogs have their runs free .. and, we can get out to the garage ..
Don't have to leave for the city til about 1245 ...
Best look around and find something to clean, or not :-)
~M~
it's COLD here plus 12F and minus 11 celcius......
after it being plus 61 the other day?!?!
It's an "at home" day for me...
It snowed on Saturday, but was all gone yesterday and semi-warm..... what happened to our lovely weather?!?!?!
Sun is shining brightly and it is a bit warmer.
Lane is downright treacherous. I had to get into the village. It was the last day that the dog tags were $15. As of March 1 they are $40 each. So I put my big girl panties on and struck out. It was a white knuckle ride and I couldn't have done it without 4 wheel drive.. The bit of melt we had makes it even more slippery as it pools over top of the other ice on the lane. Wouldn't ya know it I just heard we have a winter storm warning overnight and into tomorrow.
M I would have been fit to be tied if Warren had pulled the same trick on me. The 1 and only time he met with the Oncologist he just put down a couple of things that really didn't have to do with the meeting. I asked him if there was anything else.that he needed to put into my journal. I said I would call Dr Harle and get the lowdown and he flipped out.. But sure enough at his next appt Dr Harle brought up a few things and asked Warren what he had done about it. One using a walker. Dr Harle was a sweetheart but had a no nonsense approach. She looked over at me and I shrugged my shoulders. She said I thought as much. I was going to phone you because I expected W not to tell you.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers for Gord.
LK how are you doing now you are home? Will Physio come to your house or do you have to go somewhere for it. Like M the Physio came to me.
M, Debbie, Betty are you under this storm warning too?
Susan how many more days before Christmas?
Please if you can say a little prayer for Ron. Ron is 83 and his body is just breaking down. He is in hospital right now with no idea of when he can go home. Ron and Maryl have been so good to us over the years.
BBL
Dianne
Saying prayers for Ron - it makes me think of our elderly friend Doug (he's 82 and although not in hospital but he's getting frail and recently moved. Getting old isn't for the faint of heart......
Heartfelt prayers for Ron.
Christmas is March 12th, so it's 10 sleeps for Susan to get here on March 10th, and 12 days until Christmas :-)
oh yeah - Bob's b-day is March 6th, and my b-day is March 11th!!
Going to be busy days ahead :-D
Afternoon everyone. I am moving slow, but steady. Nurse was hear Sat, and therapist just left. She said I am doing good for less than a week from surgery. I have not been able to lift my right leg for about two years now. So they will work on finding that muscle and teaching it to work again.
Sending prayers for your friend Ron.
Just thought of you Dianne, I called a serviceman to drop off one of my sewing machines, came upstairs with plans to go to town, from downstairs to upstairs major blizzard..called the serviceman back and he said same storm started in midland so home I stay..best you do same
Holy way...
Lindakay that is the best news yet, will take you time to build up those muscles then we will have to do the jig together...
Enjoy the planning susan
Baby steps, LK - baby steps....
I got something very pleasant in the mail - a certificate and page from the Book Of Remembrance regarding my dad's older brother who died in the 1st WW.
I used to have another certificate and a map with longitude/latitude of a lake named after him - Singleton Lake, in Northern Manitoba. It was the honourable tradition to do this in Canada
Prayers for Ron... know how it is, Lorna's Dad is getting frail too .. he's 87 .. her Mom is a tough old bird ( a nice one) and 86 .. looking after her DH keeps her going .. she still shovels snow, AND, washes the floors on her KNEES!!!
We have bought her 2 Swiffers .but, she just doesn't like it.. summer comes, she 'suits up, literally .. long pants, boots, long sleeved shirt, sunglasses and wide brimmed hat .. and, she mows the lawns, by hand !!! She has a mass of allergies, but, refuses to give that up..
She weighs herself daily !
Anyway .. Susan is right, getting old is for not the faint of heart ..
Meeting went well .. then we went to Swiss Chalet for early dinner, late lunch ..
brought half home LoL
Lorna starts appts for her new leg in a couple of weeks ..
Betty .. Lorna's parents went shopping to stock up before this storm hits ..
My 'sooper doober' weather map isn't showing it .. streamers only..
Linda, the exercises are not easy, at first ... specially the 'lifting the leg up' one .. and, as I said .. I never squeezed my butt cheeks together so many times !! But, the muscles cut during surgery have to be worked back ..
Best of luck :-)
Dianne .. did a slow boil with DH re asking questions .. we get home and he is asking ME !!
This Thursday I will be front and centre !!
Nice certificate Susan .. my paternal grandfather was in Africa during the GREAT War .. lived in England ..
Best boogie ...
HUGS and prayers for you all ..
WAVING ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~M~
We broke a record today, 85 degrees. Going down tomorrow to about 82 and will remain in that range for the rest of the week. This is April weather, not Feb/March. No telling what the summer will bring.
My head cuts are healed with just tiny areas still swollen. My knee is giving me fits. The pain in behind the knee at the outer edge. I did something when I fell and it took about a week to show up. I have a PT coming to the house Wednesday to give it a look and see if massage will help.
I had to laugh about our raised beds. I had mine raised on custom built wood blocks, stained to match the wood floors. About two years ago I had a handyman come in and saw them in half to lower the bed because Vern was having difficulty getting into bed.
Linda, I am so pleased your surgery is over and you are on your way to recovery. Getting muscles back is hard work.
Diane, are you still using my sleeping angels. Debbie, I am sending some of my special angels to fix whatever you need fixed.
Susan, 10 sleeps is not a very long time for your visit. I hope all goes well.
DH's are all alike. First time I went to the cardiologist with Vern they started taking about his A Fib. I asked what A Fib. Dr. said he had been diagnosed with it over 5 years earlier. He does not go to the doctor without me. Vern just turned 83 and I would call him frail. I help him in and out of the shower and that is when I notice it the most. He is so thin. I also pick out all of his clothes or it would take him forever to get dressed. But I do ask his opinion. I sometimes ask him what he wants for breakfast but I usually get I am not hungry so I stopped that agony and just put food in front of him.
It is hard for me to think of you guys shoveling snow and mowing lawns. I do a lot of hard work but those two things would not be it.
Good luck to Lorna on her new leg.
It is garbage and recycle night so I need to get the receptacles out on the street. I also have a load of clothes that need to go into the dryer and sheets that needed to be loaded into the wash. I also need to wash out the litter box. I do that every recycle date.
My zone pushing plants are out of the garage and into the garden. Now I need to purchase my tomato plants and get them into the garden.
Hugs to all of you, Sharon
Morning .. places to go today, again, Lorna has blood work, and groceries, and I have a Hospice client to take to an appt.
Doubtless I'll be in bed early tonight ..
GREAT to hear from you Sharon :-)
Your son is so handsome and the pic of him with his wee one is a fer sure KEEPER ..
Wow, you certainly do have awesome temps, but, as you say .. too early for them ..
It's -15F here this morning .. I have my ankle length Berber coat out, again !!
Love the coat, but WHY did I buy a cream coloured coat ??!!
Would imagine Betty and Karen are getting snowed on .. quite the storm down their way ..
Best get a trudge on .. want to leave before 8am
TOODLES
~M~
So far "M" we are OK here. We are 15F on the plus side and no storm. Yesterday was pretty and sunny but cold and windy. I don't much care what it's doing outside now I'm tied to my sewing machine for almost all of March. If I get all I have planned done this month, I should have no problem keeping my schedule.
It is so wonderful to know you can be at your machine again Karen. Last year was horrible for you and I'm truly looking forward to seeing all you accomplish this year!!!
Thanks Barb, this is a new year and hopefully a better one for me.
I'm back! I let my subscription lapse for a couple of days, but decided I missed everyone here.
Glad to hear everyone is doing OK, and so busy!
Deb
Happy ST David's Day everyone. I actually forgot and didn't buy any daffodils to put on the table. I am sure all of my Welsh relatives are well into their cups by now. Not going to venture out the lane for leeks either. I think I have a container of cream of leek soup in the freezer, Easy to make and very tasty.
Deb welcome back. Do you have snow or mud? Hate the muddy season as like you there are many paws to wipe clean.
Goodness Karen that's a lot of sewing. So glad to hear you are feeling better.
Brought into the house enough wood to keep me going at least 3 days. Can't walk anywhere with ease but I don't want to venture out to the wood pile in the freezing rain that the WLs say is coming. All my flashlights are charged and ready plus I have sanded my path to the generator.. Now watch the storm miss us !!!
I was positive I posted earlier because I so loved the photo of Sharon's DS and DGS. Can't find it so it is out there somewhere floating around.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH
