Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

*Gentle hugs* to you Kathy - high stress time for you, I'm sure

27F right now and fog advisory, but it's not bad in our end of town. A friend gave us a gift cert for Boston Pizza, but they don't deliver out here (we're the last street in the city), so we're going about 12 min drive to them. Picked a day when we feel like pampering ourselves :-)

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

No pic of me and new perm Susan. I really hate to have my picture taken. Maybe I will get my son to take a picture later. Prayers for Michael, such a scary time for you Kathy.
My sister picked me up yesterday and we went to my brother's. He is doing good, back on chemo pills and SIL says he can drive now that the swelling has gone down in his feel. Speaking of driving, one of their granddaughter's new company gave her a car to drive so she gave her vovo to my brother & SIL. She would rather give it to family than take a loss on price. How about that for great grandchildren! We went out to eat for Mexican and had a great meal. I think everyone else was out celebrating. As we were talking I noticed my sister's Autistic grandson had tears rolling down his checks. At first he didn't say why he was crying, but then said he misses his Uncle Darwin & Uncle Bob. Wow, he had me in tears. This wonderful young man is speaking more now, one of the special people in all our lives. We never know what passes through their minds as he doesn't usually show emotions. Got a 2016 calendar with paintings by Autistic people. A special keepsake for me. And a Valentine's Day card he made. How can you not feel blessed with such a special person around. Also got a pair of Skechers walking shoes, brand new from my sister. She keeps me in shoes. Glad I'm the only one who wears the same size. Sorry for my "book" but I just had to share.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, that is good news all around.
I agree. I have a grandson that is autistic. They are special indeed.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Another very warm day and trying to pull myself out of a slump. I really hate days like this when I start to feel sorry for myself. I am on the look out for old hockey pucks because I took some of the plates I purchased several years ago out, washed them up now want to make flowers out of them. Put rebar for stem. I just have to get back to doing some kind of craft. So many pretty plates too.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hockey pucks, rebar, plates - making flowers out of them?
Please explain, Pegi...... this sounds interesting!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Like this Susan.

Pegi, you can use a block of wood on the back instead of a hockey puck. Just make sure you use a good glue, like E6000.

Those are so pretty LK.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

they Are pretty, and I have the same candy dish plate as it shows in the center of the 1st picture on their site!!
I've never heard of E6000 glue

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb, I haven't seen posts on Cubits for a few days, am I missing them or just no posts lately?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You can get E6000 glue just about anywhere. If not that, buy a good window silicone sealer.
They also need to be protected in the winter time, as the dishes will crack in the cold.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Thank you Linda Kay for posting that link. Will have to use blocks of wood, lots of wood around here. I have plenty of E 6000 glue, great stuff, got mine at Walmart. I have lots of pipe too and did you notice they used forks as leaves. Got a coffee container full of old silverware I almost got rid of. Could hang them on patio wall too, now I'm anxious to gather all my pretty plates, etc. I could clean house, but that isn't much fun.. Hubby did buy a drill to drill holes in glass, have to ask my son if he found them among the junk in the garage. He drilled holes in some glass containers so I could plant in them. I guess he did a lot of things for me in regards to my hobbies.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to see your pretty flowers.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hey Karen - I haven't been seeing Cubits posts either. It's one of the reasons why I stopped going to Cubits over a year ago. I don't see people posting.
I really like Cubits though........ really do

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Was a post today.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I think I saw a post by you?!?!?!
ah well, time to make dinner......

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good evening ladies.
I have been asked if a lovely lady could join us. It is Dianne from Betty's thread and her Thundering Herd. I know a lot of you "know " her already and I hope you will all give her a warm welcome. I told her I would post and to just jump in when she can.
(She is most assuredly "one of us" - down to earth and fun)

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We are getting rain! I was so surprised when it started early this evening. I imagine it will rain all night, any way I sure hope so. Nice steady rain that we really need.

I'll be waiting for Dianne to jump in and join us. When I get going on my flower plates I'll have enough to start a small business. LOL Found a box of more plates. Got to get motivated now.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Of course Diane is very welcome. We are a "The more the merrier" group.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hey Yeah - wanna see Dianne here!! Her Thundering Herd is very welcome too!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, you are always welcome here.

Verona, ON

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome. I have been a faithful lurker for a long time.

The Thundering Herd and I were outside all morning - they played and I shoveled. Dave the plow guy had to plow in my ash barrels and the wood pile. I heat mainly with wood so getting into those 2 spots was very important.

For those of you who don't know the Thundering Herd it consists of my 2 Rottis Diesel and Chaos as well as my rescue German Shepard Duke. Duke came from Kentucky so he barks with a twang.

I live a mile in on a private lane from the township road. We built this house on the lake. This time of year the closest neighbour is across the lake.. I check on the cottages and homes for people who are enjoying the warmth somewhere south.

As a break from the shoveling I went into the village this morning. The Amazon gods had blessed me with some new books so I just had to get them.Plus a DVD collection of Johnny Carson's Tonight shows. The lane was iffy in spots and if you didn't know the lane you could be in trouble. On Tues. my cleaning lady got stuck ON the lane.

You all have made me smile, tear up and think about things many, many times. I thank you for including me on your thread. I have been lucky enough to meet Barb and Norm in person. and hope we can do so again.

Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So glad you've joined us Dianne.

Really glad you've joined us here - love seeing you

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So glad you are here Dianne. We are a great bunch and I'm glad to see they made you welcome.....
Busy sewing today . Photos tomorrow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I saw the cardiologist today and got the all clear for surgery next Wednesday morning.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

That's good to hear, LK! We'll be here, praying for you, in our prayer circle :-)

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Lost my post so have to start over. Glad to hear you are all set up for surgery on Wednesday, LK. You are in my prayers.
Glad you joined us Dianne, I know I've seen you on other threads.
No more rain and it is suppose to get warmer next week, not a happy thought. On my walks I see so many lawns are turning a nice pretty green.
Man from the city came today to take pictures of the work we want done. I just hope there is enough money in the grant to do all this work. But, we have to get rid of all the junk in the back yard before they will proceed with the work. Well, I guess this will get me motivated. Nothing like a big push to get me going.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - Jean (Moonhowl) sends her best wishes for you re: Wednesday
She said "Please give LK my best next time one of you is on DG. I hope all goes well for her and this makes life a lot less painful."

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Susan. Please let her know she is missed very much.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I will do that :-)
I copy/pasted what you said.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Susan. I am back home. Gonna take a nap.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I saw this posted on FB - "when you were little, naps were a punishment, now they're more like a mini-vacation" lol ain't That the truth lol
