Good Morning. 62 here now, supposed to hit low 70's.
My variegated angel trumpet is blooming and the Giant Turk's Cap, The humming bird bush just finished, but the Rosemary has started up again. Oddly, the Japanese Magnolias are putting out a few blooms and the blood oranges and native sweet oranges are almost ready to harvest. The red blooming Christmas cactus has a few blooms also.
Laundry is finished, so off to see MIL. Have a great day, Ladies.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?& Santa Warren Xmas Exchange
Susan, although there will be much damage. Just getting back into your own home will be worth it..great your getting your basket today..
Lovely temps Jean..sounds like you've got beautiful plants to brighten your day as well.will all this change in temps and their budding create a problem for when they are suppose to bloom?
How is your MIL
Sue, know you enjoy putting seasonal decoration in Jessica's garden but it must be so difficult for you ..hugs
Lindakay, bet the good nights sleep did wonders for you..glad to hear you are leaving some of the 'to do's' for when the kids come...all are coming for Christmas, means a houseful for sure
Girls just left, full of Christmas chatter, ann and Pat made 1 piece ove mitts and mug rugs
June and Aline knitted, wonderful morning!
Guess next Tuesday will be our last week until adpfter New Years
Have clean up to do then think I will take a run to the stained glass studio and pick up some supplies.
Jeff emailed me, thanked me for the birthday gift, a 'tell Greg he is not my older brother' standard joke as until New Year's Day they are both 46. Lol. Said he would call me tonight as he is off in the morning to Miami for work, didn't ask for how long, likely a few days.
That is about it for me
Now I knew I should sit, feel like putting my head down and napping. Grrr
I will have 12 people here for 3 days, day before, Christmas day sand day after.
I'm just looking forward to decorating for Christmas - not doing anything here
That is a crowd Lindakay but I'm sure they will be helping out a lot..will be great to have little ones around Christmas!
Susan, praying big time that this Christmas will be special for you..know things can go wrong but we have to have hope
Only 1 container left without greenery, trying to decide if I will go do it now or wait till morning and spend time finishing the knitted piece and making a list gpfor stained glass studio..always something to do right
Mission accomplished ... got to town, did the shopping, picked up my coat from the dry cleaners, and, home to make stir fry, that's done and cleared away, Gord ran the dogs, YAY ..
And, I am done for a bit .. was going to make dog cookies, but the sweet potato is frozen .. course, I could fix that quickly, but, do I want to stand and roll out and cut out 4 dozen cookies .. hmmmmmmmm .. NOPE .. :-)
All this talk of flowers, especially ROSES :-) love it ..
LK .. you are going to be one busy Texan !!12 people .. lotsa meals ..
Betty .. time for a break in the craft room ..
I remember you saying Jeff and Greg are the same age for about 2 weeks or so ..
Susan .. project to NEXT Christmas . try to just go with the flow right now ..
ALMOST 50F here .. Betty, Dianne and Karen will know how unusual that is !
Dianne .. drop us a hello .. we worry ..
Off to do ?something? :-)
HUGS
~M~
"M", did you make it to the post office, or did they hire someone new for your route?
Is indeed rare, at least rare for the past decade or..when kids were young we'd pray for snow Christmas Eve..going to take this but can hear our ski lodges cry from here.
Nice feeling to have gotten all your to do list done..starting to get busy in the stores in your area?
Yep, boys are same age from Dec8th to New Years Day!
Worry about Dianne as well, been quite a dpfew days we've not heart
Kathy, did you get a new court date?
Deb, you've been quiet, all well on the Homefront?
Yep, all good here. A few issues with dogs, but nothing serious. Beachboy, the "stud" that came to stay has decided he doesn't like Klaus, my 12 month old who just had surgery (staples removed yesterday) and bit his nose over the weekend. Lots of blood but no lasting damage. Just more work, because I have one more to keep separate, and I'm out of rooms I can gate off upstairs. One of the boys has had to stay in a dog run I have set up in the basement. So far, we're rotating who is banished to the basement. Just more time consuming.
Trying to get motivated with the Christmas shopping, but haven't done much yet. My daughter and I are both taking next Monday off work, and will make the rounds of the outlet malls, and just make a day of it.
Otherwise, just quiet here.
Santa Warren's parcel is going north and west. So is it Betty or M?????
Been battling migrains - think this turned into cluster headaches. I took down the quilts off of the BR windows. Monday it hit me again. Went to Perth with Steve this afternoon and he had to bring me home. There is something about the lights in the Canadian Tire that sets me off.
Hope all is well with all of you.
Dianne
Oooooooooooo .. North and west .......... hmmmmmmmmmmm .. will be on the look out .
we have a part time mail person .. have yet to figure out when he comes ..
I think I might just call ..
Tomorrow I take Gord to physio .. then we have some bits and pieces of shopping to do .. I need to finish up Lorna .. I ordered a 'momento' from Hospice .. this year they have come up with one for pets who have passed ..
http://www.hospicenorthwest.ca/wings-of-remembrance
I sell them (volunteer) in malls .. quite emotional so it is ..
Got one for DS, who knows if it'll be accepted .. Smokey left MANY paw prints on our hearts.
Oh my Dianne .. I so feel for you ... NEVER have had one (fingers crossed) .. have had a nagging headache caused by my neck .. the icepack thing does work ..
Ordered my brother a fruit basket for his BDay Dec. 16 .. I think he'll be pleased:-)
Take care everybody
~M~
Oh Dianne how horrid..hmmm "M" or me..I'll be watching the pist for sure..was there this afternoon, nothing in the box, not even a bill, that is somewhat good news right 😛
I sure hope these clusters soon leave, you must be exhausted..hope the TH are behaving for you.
Debbie, how long will the stud be with you? Wouldn't be so bad if he was doing his job. Lol
You are still early, some leave shopping to dec24th .. Imagine
Took a run the Gayle's, she is working on one heck of a Georgian Bay scene 82" wide by 36"long
It's a custom piece for a cottages..cha Ching cha Ching can't even phantom what he will pay.
Lordy I bought glass for 2-18" snowflakes, 2 solders,2 copper foil and a few pieces of glass for the cardinal piece and there went $200..am sure Dianne you will know how much stained glass supplies are, many Toronto distributors are closed, she now has to order from states so add in exchange and it's ouch/ouch
Only way I can justify the cost is that the snowflakes are 2 gifts and not sure what I will ask for the cardinal piece I've been commissioned to do, likely figure total cost..am hoping Roger's cousin is a handyman, would love to barter for a day's work here..have to see
Bought bingo cards, bound I'm going to win the $2,500 tonight, can always dream right?
Thought so I don't fall asleep before 8pm I will foil at least one snowflake..I find foiling relaxing
That is an expensive hobby for sure. More than quilting.
Betty - IF we're not in our home for Christmas, we will have Christmas in March when Susan comes to visit. I just really hope it's in December.....
I'm trying so hard to figure out how to do the heel on a Christmas stocking I'm knitting, but my brain is all fuzzy........
I don't know when the stud dog is leaving. Or where he is going when he does. I've spent some $$ at the vet for testing to see if his problem can be solved, still waiting for some results. Owner told me not to have him tested because she can't afford to pay for it, I did it anyway because the 2 week stay is now 3+ months, and if she won't (can't afford to) return the stud fee, I would like to use him, if his problem is fixable, so if it means me spending a little more, I feel like I need to do that. Sure don't have another $2000 to pay someone else for a stud fee. It wouldn't be as bad if the dogs all got along.
I love that pet memorial ornament, M. My aunt got me one many years ago when my German Shepherd pup was hit by a car and killed. There were tears when I opened it, but now, so many years later, I really love it, and am so pleased she got it for me.
Betty there is a great Glass supplier in Quebec or was. I]ll poke around tomorrow and see if I can find Richard's. # We also got supplies in Cookstown.
Dianne
Susan, be nice for you to have Susan visit again..haven't heard you mention her in a long time.
Deb, that's expensive for studding..have to ask Sharon how much she pays..mom was telling me Sharon lost a pup, all happened same day the couple flew in to pick her/him up..she is distraipught
Where in cookstown Dianne, do you remember the name, not so sure they are there anymore..a big one in Barrie though, just out of the way! Thanks
Just finishing 2nd snowflake foiling..got to quit as its Bingo time..
Betty yes I remember those toys. Sure glad I was never one of those parents who fought their way to get one for my kids lolol. Some of those parents were crazy lol.
S
Don't know what the new and exciting toys are this yr ??. Savannah wants clothes, Austin is happy with games for his xbox. Easy lol.
Warm weekend here, dogs are muddy.
Drop box ? Hmm I may look into that.
Betty - Susan & I talk every day - either on the computer, or the phone.
She's a real dear & a Georgia Peach :-) She & Charlene live 1 hour apart. Trying to get them to meet each other - I have a feeling that they'd get along famously.
Who is Charlene Susan?
Didn't even come close at bingo, oh well, always next week!
Ridesredmule. She has not been on DG in a long time, but is on facebook.
yeah, Ridesredmule lives close to my friend Susan - 1 hour south of her in fact.
Only the Japanese Magnolias are blooming early, Betty. They usually bloom at the end of January--mid February. The rosemary blooms until the first freeze and the Turk's Cap and Christmas cactus are fall bloomers. Just nice to see a few flowers.
As for Jim's mom, she is holding her own. The heart meds seem to be working for her, her color is better and her breathing seems less labored. She just really does not want to be in the nursing home, but requires round the clock nursing care and is unable to sit or walk or stand on her own as use of her left arm and leg was lost with her stroke.
Dianne, the ice packs really do help me, and from M's post, her as well. I do hope you feel better soon.
Hope you all have a good night.
glad to hear Jim's mom is holding her own....... prayers for her
Another day on the horizon .. early start
34F already .. and, maybe, a bit of fog.
Seems everyone is busy .. seems to be a constant at this time of year.
The 'Wings of Remembrance' are quite beautiful ... just very emotional when helping people make their orders ..
Waving HIYA and bye for now
~M~
Morning,
Glorious day, will almost be 50 today and no sigh of snow, can you imagine I'm dreaming of a white Christmas!
Didn't sleep well last night, pain in hip and legs drove me crazy, when I did fall asleep oops, time to get up...girls will be here any minute so it's coffee and downstairs I go.
Looks as though we are all enjoying great weather...great to get things done.
Jean your MIL has come a long way thanks to meds..guess it's hard for her to understand the home is a must..at least she has family visiting, that's a plus as so many do not.
Is it pressie wrapping day for you. "m"?
Sue, with kids in school you can get some shopping done
Wonder if Katie is on the road, hope weather conditions are ok for her.
Judy, where oh where are you?
To all others lurking have a great day.
Morning everyone. I have been to town and back. I had to drop off pre op orders for the Dr. I need an EKG, physical, and lab work, and I also have to see the dentist to make sure I have no infections. They will call and give me an appointment late January or early February.
I have most of the shopping done for Christmas, now I just need to get things wrapped.
Good day, everyone
Morning Susan!
Good Morning.
Good for you LK. Just a couple odds and ends for stockings and I think I am through also. Will just have a few to wrap. Fingers crossed that all goes well with pre-op plans.
Thanks to you all for keeping MIL in your thoughts. Sadly her chance for any real improvement was lost months ago. The cruel irony is that her sense of smell has sharpened but she can not eat or drink anything as she has lost the ability to swallow.
M, the Remembrance mementos are really lovely. Shame on DS if he does not appreciate it. I know it is so hurtful when our grown children seem to forget how they were raised. ((HUGS))
Betty, hope you are feeling better today. Maybe too many trips up and down the stairs. Do take care.
Have to take Mea Kitty to the vet in a little while. She has a nasty cold...started sneezing over the weekend. Not good for a 19 year old kitty.
Hope you all have a good day...Be safe.
Hi popping in to say HI.
Been insanely busy here...I'm not only the Bird sitter, I've been playing taxi driver.
Well, hopefully that is over so I can finish my things up.
Now DH wants to have a holiday party for his guys, so we got to get this planned rather quickly.
But my package for Santa Warren will be leaving this state tomorrow. I'm so sorry to get behind again.
Looks like your all busy too...
Sending gentle Armwraps to everyone.
Gentle armwraps right back atcha, Judy
Sending prayers for your kitty Jean.
Oh my gosh! What did they do??? Don't like this formatting change, if that's what it is.
hello?! Im testing this new forum...I'm lost.
Santa Warren's parcel is in transit so Canada Post says..... it is now at the Miss. Terminal. Ready to go north .
D
Totally ridiculous
I'd you no longer see me post you will know why
