For older cats, yes M, they can be a bit persnickety, but kittens don't really know they aren't supposed to be there. We used them when we got Bennie the blind Beagle and used them on Mea, she was about 6 and had a complete mind of her own. Got a couple scratches on the first try, then she figured out they didn't hurt. Some vets will place them for you when they neuter/spay the cat.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?&Santa Warren Exchange
Not much rain here. Just sprinkling all day.
"M", my bones don't like this fall cold weather. 42 was our high for the day. That is cold for us Texans.
I have never heard of those nail caps.

Whew!!! So tickled that you like it Liz. Must admit I did ask Betty if there were any NoNo's.
It was really fun finding everything and knowing you like it just doubles the delight.
The snowman wreath, when you know how to do it, takes 1 hour. Apparently to start as a beginner, it could take 4 hours...... yikes
Oh Liz, what a great box you received..
Want to go back and look at the perscription bottle once again
Jean what lovely choices, you must have shopped till you dropped. Lol
Liz, the times we met you had a quite the camera, wouldn't it be worth repairing then that tax return could be used to fly to canada, know someone who would love to gphave you visit
no we tried but it was a lost cause, I know I have to get my birth certificate so I can get a passport.
Get at it girl..
Good morning ..
Wow Liz .. great prezzies :-)
As Liz said Jean ..'You done good" :-)
I took a GOOD look at the email I follow for the package I sent out .. expected delivery date ..
DEC. 1 .. and, according to it's travel sheet, it hasn't move in a day or more, but, sometimes those 'where am I' sheets are inaccurate ..
Not sure what's up today .. likely finish decorating .. have a week of appointments coming up AGAIN .. some way or another I have to get out to shop !!
Hope you have a great day
~M~
Morning all
"m" whatever will you do when all these doc appointments are finished, enjoy life right?
Will the family be over for Christmas or do you travel to their homes
See there was an earthquake in Cornwall Dianne, not too far from your neck of the woods.
Brrr 27, on my list is finishing outdoor arrangements, 2 hanging baskets ready to decorated but those I can bring in and be warm doing them, other than that this gal is waiting for it to warm up
before going outside and get a few more totes.
Then, downstairs for a few hours and voila done with my weekend list of to do's..need embellishments to finish Rita's wreath but not going into town u bless I decide to go look at kitties.
Thanks for the link Jean.
WOW! What an awesome box you sent to Liz!
Betty .. I am still furious with DS and DGD ..(all over a CAT)
As usual.. their family goes to her family .. we get a cursory visit .. at which time they are plugged into electronics .
Gordon has spoken with Murray .. very generic .. Murray has accepted a position with the City of Thunder Bay in the transit dept .. it's a management job .. and he was sought out as he has the training from the railroad .. he is apparently quite happy, and, they will let him keep his plans for the family trip to Cuba in January.
Christmas is NOT my time of year .. thank heavens for Lorna !
I try to be UP, but, it ain't easy to do ..
Going to go out and run the dogs around for a bit .. will put Zoeys coat on her as it's a bit nippy out there (18F) but OH so sunny !! The other 2 are 'fur bearers' LoL

I am with you "M" Truly dislike this season
M...my DH is having same/similar problems as to your Gord. Carpal tunnel, putting in a brace, and now also forming second cataract on eye he had surgery on....along with a wrinkle in the macula they repaired. There will be another surgery. Also having trouble with nerves in his feet, have him on steroids, a foot brace (fasciatius?) and going to need testing for diabetes.
His Dad starts chemo tomorrow or Tuesday for Prostate cancer. Not been a good month here.
Hope it calms down as he is "Santa" next week for community.
Last year LindaKay sent an amaryllis in my gift box, well, it is sprouting and up about
4 inches. The gift that keeps giving, might bloom for Christmas!!!
Debbie
I made it! I'm alive!!
I've been stupid busy with house cleaning for the holidays for my "only occasionally" customers.
Had wonderful trips in the last few months. Starting at Betty's and ending with the cruise at the first of the month. Now I'm not due anywhere in Dec and Jan!!
I've tried to catch up with everyone on this thread, but must admit I didn't have time to read the last 4 or 5! Is there anything I should know?
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. My daughter had us as usual but Bill was sick so he stayed home. Lots of wonderful food and great company.
Prayers for all of you!
Sorry to hear all that is going on at your place Debbie. Tell hubby not to have surgery for the Plantar Fasciitis. I had it done on both of my feet, it never helped. Tell him to get a shoe with a good arch support. You can buy inserts for that.
Hey Cookie, glad your back with us.
Denpbbie it's sure has been an overwhelming year for you, here is hoping Paul improves health wise..how is Shane and Shannon?
"M"1 more month od talking about Christmas and we will be on the spring countdown.
Glad Joyce you weren't lost forever. Lol
So enjoyed your visit..got a card today from Sherri, was so nice..tell her I appreciate her knifed words. Meow is Bill doing
Was hoping it was bedtime not afternoon, Lordy I'm very very tired!
Yesterday I worked quite hard while mom cross stitched..she decided to drop into my brothers and maybe spend the night then travel home tomorrow..no sooner was she packing up she decided to come look at the snowman tree then into the craft room..mistake, she decided she had to have 3 Snowlady light boxes and 2 bird feeders, so out came my paints..she left a happy camper..I ran to the grocery store, just back and now I'm trying to think if I want to finish my last chore of the weekend or have a nap?? (Could say the last chore was, exchanged for mom"/ projects but no).
What to do, what to do.
Mom's goodies
Those bird feeders are really cute. If you ever decide to start selling crafts, let me know!! LOL!!
Still have to bathe two dogs. Vet appointments tomorrow, with two different vets, and I hate to take them looking like they do right now. I need to get some of the mud and sticks out of their coats.
I did get more storm windows put up, but it still feels drafty. I should get some caulk and caulk around the windows, or at least get some heavier curtains that will block some of the drafts.
Had an eye appointment yesterday, I've been wearing the same glasses for 7 or 8 years, so it's time. Dr said she could see some spots on my macula in my left eye, and to take Ocuvite vitamins and it should be fine. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I be worried? I don't have any vision problems, other than beig nearsighted since I was a kid.
Betty, is your Mom driving, or does someone pick her up? I bet she enjoyed you doing those for her.
She drives, actually since she is not taking mega drugs ( when Jim died)her driving is great..yes, she was glad and I tired!
.
Deb, are the dogs ill or is it a general check up?
Vitamins for the eyes, sounds like impressive meds, hoping it works for you.
I too have to get glasses,, been a good 5 years and the glasses never were any good, bought at Walmart, NEVER again
Fell asleep curled on the couch .. Missy found a place to make herself comfy behind me, great excuse not to get up, don't want to disturb her
I used to dislike Christmas, since my Dad passed away just before, but about 5 years ago I decided that there was a reason I loved Christmas so go on with it. It will be 30 years since my dad passed, but as we know - there is no timeline on grief.
I'm thinking, if the judgement goes "for" us on the 14th, it will be afternoon, and they couldn't get 24 hours if it's normally a "Noon", so won't have to leave until Dec 16th at Noon.
Dec 16th is when we got our furniture & things for the mobile, back in 2006. It would be a new "anniversary" lol Dec 16th.... odd date, but there you have it lol
Dec. 16th is my brother, Bobs, 80th birthday :-)
Seems to me this bodes well ..
He is 80 going on 45 .. just an amazing fella ..
I don't HATE Christmas .. I just dislike the PUSH that happens, adverts , songs til you're ready to scream .. people can get cross, and, it seems so rushed !
Best part is after supper on Christmas Day .. I breathe a huge sigh of relief ..
Debbie, our DHs are in the same boat. but, having carpal tunnel, neither of them can ROW !!
Joyce .. bath time for dogs, uggggg ... good luck ..
Betty .. those are quite something those bird feeders ..
Taking DH to physio for 8am .. I best get supper for tomorrow ready ..
Maybe the repairman will be back, but, I doubt it, luckily I have an countertop stove (Like a large roaster) used that today, tomorrow it's the crockpot ..
Should grab a glance at Canada's answer to the SUPERBOWL .. the GREY CUP ..have a bet with Lorna's Dad .. I picked Edmonton .. ..

Friday "M" I was amazed at how quick I got the gifts I needed..I was prepared, knew what I wanted (researched) walked in 4 stores, got it and out I came..I never was one to go shopping through aisles and crowds not knowing what I wanted. Much easier now that one can go to each store and browse their wares then check if in stock.. So much easier!
Hope you win the bet!
Susan, guess we all have loved ones we've lost at Christmas and it's hard
I was telling mom today that it's not that she is getting over losing Jim a few Christmas's ago but that she has to bring some Joy back in her life at Christmas ..am sure Jim would be disappointed that she wasn't living the life he couldn't..lets hope it works
We are back home, had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I took all the tree skirts and gave them all away. It was great fun. I have a bit more to do on one skirt but it has a home waiting and then I think I will make one more.
They must have been absolutely thrilled..
Did you get the pieces I sent?
So glad to hear all went well this trip, now when is your next trip?
Doorbell rang, unusual for this time of night, was a young woman who lives next door to pizzeria, having a Neighbirhood Christmas party next Saturday, pot luck..glad it's at 6pm as I'm usually in bed a tad later than that..now what to make?
Vet appts are a recheck for Sissy, after the ruptured anal gland, and Beachboy, the dog that came here for a breeding and never went home has prostate issues, it's a check on that.
Neighborhood Christmas party sounds like fun.
Did the owner not want him Deb?
It was fun watching them make choices. Some surprised me.
Envelope not here yet but we did have the holiday, sure it will be in the next day or two.
I will be making one more skirt. My DGD's future mother in law (who is just as sweet as can be), really raved about this blue skirt. I decided to give it to her as a wedding gift. She is marrying DGDs father in law next spring.
Other DGD in TN just became engaged on Thanksgiving day, so I will make another skirt for her. Wedding will probably be next fall (makes two DGDs marrying next fall). so I have plenty of time but will do it soon so as to have it out of the way.
Just watched a Jenny tutorial which isn't for a tree skirt but I'm thinking I could make it into one easily enough.
Think I'll be staying home until Christmas. My Gastro Dr. called and will be doing a couple procedures soon so not making travel plans.
For some strange reason I work constantly every day but still feel behind.
Marilyn, I feel for you and your dysfunctional DIL. It is just not right. But you should blame her mother and father. They raised her to be such a bi***.
Marilyn, as far as a kitten and older dogs, there is absolutely no problem. Because cats are so agile, my dogs, who were two at the time, would chase them and they would jump up on something. The back of the couch, bookshelf or whatever and the dogs would stop in their tracks and you should have seen the look on their faces. "How did they do that?" I have never had two cats and I will never have a single cat again. They are best friends sleeping next to each other, then all of a sudden, slap, hiss and "who is the boss". Then a few moments later, all is forgotten. They run the back landscape with the dogs, jumping over them and they are a blast to watch. The two cats make us laugh every day. The dogs chase them, the cats stop and the next second they are nusseling each other.
I have no Christmas shopping to do. Todd & Heather, with the youngest grandchild, Luke who is 6, wants money for his college fund. In their family they trade names among immediate family and her mother and stepfather and each child gets one present. They like to travel and ski or snowboard so I send them money for their skiing and trips. Same on birthdays. Each year I try to find something small. My daughter Tracy has 5 children and they get 4 presents from their parents. And I give them money on their birthdays and Christmas. Most of the grandchildren are in college or graduated, except for 3, so money is what they need.
Vern and I do not exchange gifts. He cannot go and purchase anything and does not want any help. I buy him little things every time I go shopping. His favorite thing in life is snacks.
I had to laugh because he saw the bill yesterday for our liability insurance. He could not believe the amount of the bill. I told him, we need it in case someone gets hurt on our property or I cause a car accident and our car insurance does not cover it all. He would be shocked if he knew what all the other insurance costs. I talked to him the other day about selling both of our cars and getting a smaller Lexus SUV. He actually agreed. I wanted to sell his sports car about a year ago and he would not hear of it. I guess he has come to a realization that he will never drive again. My SUV is a large Lexus and it is getting harder each time to gt him in it and I cannot get his wheelchair in his sports car.
I am so enjoying seeing all the Santa Warren boxes. I would have loved to participate, but I am such a procrastinator, I would have disappointed someone.
Betty, I am so please you are on better terms with your mother. Takes a lot of stress out of your life.
I took a test in the paper the other day about should I be driving. I passed, but barely. And I only drive about 15 miles a week. I just need to keep my mind on my driving.
I got on line last night looking for a dress for the wedding on the 19th of December and found 2, about 50% off and free shipping. Black Friday on Saturday.
Karen, I am so glad you had a wonderful trip. They will treasure their tree skirts for many, many years. I have one my mother knitted for me many years ago. She only made one and she gave it to me. I will take a photo. I no longer put up a tree so I use it as a table cover and put decorations on top of it. She also crocheted me a table runner. Things I will treasure forever.
Liz, I have the same problem. I do not have the info I need for legal US ID and passport. I waited to long. I have everything showing my first husband, Mr. Gottschalk died, that I married Vern but I have no proof I married Mr. Gottschalk. No paper trail and I cannot find it in Las Vegas. We got married in Lincoln County, not Clark County so hopefully my SIL can find it in their county records. This was in 1961. OMG, give me a break.....I have lived in Clark County since 1961, registered to vote, have a driver's license since 1958 and they want a marriage license from 1961.
Betty, do not be fooled by my bouquet. My garden is a mess. Big time wind about a week ago and now cold weather. All my zone pushing plants are in my garage greenhouse area and some spring flowers are planted. Our neighborhood owl is back. Been back about a week. When she cleans out the greenbelt of rats, pigeons and bunnies, she moves for a few weeks. I can always tell when she is back because she eaves a very big mess on the sidewalk underneath the tree she is sitting in.
Linda, I know how it goes in Texas. Same as Las Vegas. Either high winds, heat or cold. By this time of year everything is fried.
Linda I just about fell the other day, caught myself and wrenched my right, bad, leg. Has been giving me trouble ever since and my new massage lady was involved in a hit and run accident on the freeway the other day. She is fine but sore. And they did catch the driver.
Well, I need to get off of here and clean up the kitchen.
Good morning.
SOMEONE is getting a package today :-)
Just checked the UPS tracker and it changed overnight .. a VERY well traveled package!
No time to chat right now, supper to make (crockpot) dogs to feed, then outta here with DH for his physio ..

~M~
Morning everyone!
"M", if it is coming this way, the UPS man does not run until late, usually about 7-9. :)
It is 47 right now, but supposed to reach 67 today. Sure will be nice to be warm when I go outside.
Betty, I spent too much time in Pinterest last night. You should see all the different things you can do with the glass blocks. I might have to get more and try a few!
Sharon im going to try to get my mom to go with me to san Francisco but she is still flipping out on driving in san Francisco.
oh I like the pine cone one.
Morning all,
Sitting watching a Christmas movie, sipping coffee and eating a brownie/guide chocolate mint cookie, life is good.
Other than helping Brianna make Kyle an Advent calendar it's a rest day (Ihope)!
Lindakay they are indeed lovely light boxes..favorite is the candles, might have to try that one and Herve the one with the bow, the Snowlady so not in need of another but if I'm in need of a glass box I will.
"m" adrenaline city, can't wait to see who got your box and what is in it..trying to guess who you got, hmmm
Sharon, what's that old saying 'the quicker I go the more be hinder I get' lol. Seems to be true.
Roger and I were much like you, I always wanted A gift under the tree but it was more fun that when I/he wanted something we just went and buy it.. Was thinking, there is nothing I want or need, now that is not so, think my kettle is going on the fritz, likely have to get one before Xmas..that would be 3 things these past weeks, craft room tv,iron and kettle.
With the cold weather in your area when would your gardens come alive?
An owl, beautiful to see, does he keep you awake? They must be loners as it always seems there is only one..must read up.
Money will be given to Braedon as he is in university the other side of Canada, others useful things like snowmobile passes etc..they too get everything they want when they want it so hard to get a Christmas list..last year I also gave them a Christmas quilt, this year a tree skirt for their hope chest..so laughing, boys don't have hope chests, they should though
Karen, just know you are excited that all were thrilled to get Christmas skirts from grandma and now 2 more..know you will get them done shortly because you are not one to just sit..beside you have to start using that accuquilt
Missy just came and made herself comfy beside me, hope she doesn't think I will remain here keeping her company
Nope, it's up and at it
Liz, wasn't it San Francisco you and Kenny would go to market and buy bread? Hope you can get together with mom..
Betty, Todd and I are the same way, if we see something we want through the year, we just get it. I learned the hard way that it will not be there if you go back later.
Haven't even opened the Accuquilt as yet. I want to call today, the one I got Is the GO, but now I see the GO BIG, the electric model is on a very good sale. I really wanted the electric but it was so much more. I think I will eventually have a problem with cranking the GO. If my LQS has the GO BIG at the sale price, I think I will make the exchange.
One last hint .. east of LK :-)
TEASER me ..
Home from town .. made dinner in Crockpot , ready in about an hour .. then off to check our mail in Kakabeka Falls
Our mailman who delivers to everyones mailbox at the end of our driveways, died in his sleep .. his 13 yr old daughter found him .. thought he had slept in .. he was 53, very nice fella ..but, the community is now without a mail person .. and, it's not an easy job .. hard driving in spring and winter .. dark ..
L O V E those Blocks .. where do you buy the blocks, HomeDepot ? Maybe Habitat for Humanity ?
Jeeze, so pretty ...
Have a Timmies to drink .. off I go ..
~M~
That is such sad news "M", that poor child!
Ok must be Jean. Lol
Karen, go for it, you deserve it..
Lindakay, works well, makes thrust as all year round
Well brianna came, she had Xmas paper, canvas, wool and little numbers..forgot photo f what she wanted to do..I couldn't quite make out the concept...didn't want to hurt her feelings, asked if she ever considered sewing one..never sewn at a machine..I'm not doing the sewing, I'm instructing and she is as happy as an be with what she has done so far,,we will have to rush through it shortly as she hades to work at 6, wants to fill it so has to be done in next few hours.
