Another day, another adventure .. :-)

Milder this morning .. rain predicted .. IKKKK ...

Susan .. love the 'duck quilt' .. Nora is a sweet wee sprog:-)

Sharon ..frustrating re the wind after your clean up .. hopefully it won't get too cold for you over the next while ..
My nephew, Robert, and wife Judy are hunkered down in Belgium .. getting very tense over there, and, like you, I wonder which fanatical group will nudge us into WW111 ... here's hoping calmer and more decisive minds prevail to prevent that from happening .. the thought sickens me ..

Betty .. who are you cooking the roast for ..
As for the sandman .. he brought me one heck of a nightmare !! Woke everyone up as I was screaming .. am blaming it on the flu shot .. sure it has given me a headache too ..

Best forage for some twigs n bark .. commonly referred to as MUSELIX .. or .. AllBran .. yuk ..

Off for groceries .. and .. am looking for a jacket/coat for Gordon for Xmas .. Sears is usually choc a bloc with them .. we'll see ..

Nora is sooooo sweet! And I just love the quilt.... Got me to thinking (bad thing)that quilts would be fun to make for grandchildren's children too.....That duck pattern is adorable...

Pacifica, CA

what, what did I miss about oliso I have one..
my santa warren gift is on its way...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had an hours sleep, am sure I'll feel much better for it!

Barb, I'm into making wedding quilts to be set aside for them, am sure my kids would think I'd lost it if I start for great grandchildren. Lol. But is a good idea

Liz, my iron started leaking water while it sat and then loss heat..I looked all over for website that gave a mailing address for repairs and didn't find one, of course I decided to do this just before leaving for Buffalo so wrapped it up and sent it to address that was in the box..should check for confirmation signature..will give till Xmas then start bugging for its return and hopefully repaired..I too Lindakay have heard they are not the best, love mine but for the $$ should last longer.

"m" I out the roast on to do it Joyce's way to bring with me tonight to don and Lois, elderly couple we get together once a month. Randy their caretaker said they are not up to getting out in this weather, my turn to cook so said I'd do the roast..paid $22 for a roast for the 5 of us, put it in slow cooker and Lordy didn't look big enough to feed 2-3 so took a quick run to foodland and bought another..there goes this weeks allowance, almost have to get a mortgage to buy a good size roast.

I had some scraps on the table so when the girls left yesterday I sewed some strips, ended up with a small runner, just finishing hand sewing the binding..talk about make and take but I'm sure Lois will love it.
Car pulled in, best I start my day

Seems as irons get fancier, and more pricey, they also get more unreliable. I have a Rowenta Steam Generator. Last one I had was awesome for many years so I replaced it with same. Not such a good idea. The newer models sputter & spit most of the time, which I have read is a problem with them. Company even addressed thin in the manual but their suggestions don't really work. I keep a large folded towel on the end of the board and run the steam for a bit until it settles down. I also had this one spring a leak after just 3 months. When I called the company, all I said was it has a leak and was told immediately we'll send a return label. Was sent back a new one.

I'll be shopping today, cooking tomorrow and heading downstate on Friday. We usually end up with somewhere between 40 & 50 depending on how many of SILs family comes.

It's been a bit rough for my DS#2, His step daughter, I know I've mentioned her, the one who was in rehab and got mixed up with a couple questionable guys. Second one she also met in rehab, they left together and she ended up pregnant. He meanwhile, stole a car and went back to jail. She then entered an good rehab and got herself straightened out. She re-established contact with family, both her moms and ours. She was working, and doing well when #2 waltzes back into the picture. She was taking it really slow with him, only seeing him on week-ends, letting him have limited contact with his son. I wished her well and was so hoping it would go well and it did, or so it seemed until last Thursday. DS#2 called me early Fri. to tell me boyfriend had gone to Detroit night before. He either overdosed or got bad drugs. He was dumped out of a van at a gas station where he collapsed & died.
I really feel badly for GD but also feel she dodged a bullet. Sooner or later he might have dragged her into his pit. and with two children, she needs to keep herself on her path. She's really in a lot of pain right now but I'm hoping she will get through it OK. She needs to realize that rehab isn't really a good place to meet husband material. She has gotten tight with her church and I'm hoping that will help her through.

Sending prayers for her to keep on the right path.

My package started its journey west today.....

Kathy, you got such lovely things from LK. I have those aloe socks and just love them. For anyone who gets cramps in their feet, I have found that it helps (doesn't eliminate) if you keep the feet warm and these keep mine toasty. Hope your GS is okay.

Sending prayers for your DS's stepdaughter Karen. She is lucky to have a support group.

I know you'll be glad to get the stove back "M". I like Adele too...

Wishing all my dear friends here and most wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow. I'll be off early to our daughter's for the day.

So far DGDs choices in guys have been very poor. I know raising kids alone is a tough job, but she has to slow down and not rush into another relationship so fast. She is really almost desperate to have a man in her life. Her addiction problem wasn't really her fault. She had a condition called pseudotumor which caused her great pain. Prescribed drugs are what got her addicted. Now we are hearing that the pseudotumor was caused by certain birth control pills. We are trying so hard to encourage her but she won't accept any suggestions.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers for your DGD Karen, am sure it's been hard for all of you..

I'm with you "M", get it enjoy the day and not cook thanksgiving dinner, but then look at the fun they will have, we will miss out on that.

Ohh pressie's flying all over the country.

Lindakay, love the pressie's you sent Kathy, you sent me some of those socks for a previous swap and how I love them, mouth watering re the sweets.

Had a lovely supper, yummy yummy in the tummy..they are trying to fit a December supper but the 13 mikd road is nothing but turns, not niceto be travelling in winter and at night, we will see

Seeing I was up since 2:30am I'm off to bed

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Service guy came today to take out the Security System, preparatory to it being installed back in our place when we move, whenever that is (3 days, or 2 months - doesn't matter, we don't need to worry either way, just won't get charged for the time it's not installed).

A wondrous Thanksgiving to all my American friends :-)

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

The way the wind blew last nigh, I should at least be in Utah.

I got on line this morning to see what I had to do to leave my bougainvilleas outside but at the same time protect them from freeze. Well I read for about 10 minutes and then I texted the HOA landscape fellows and asked if they could stop by at the end of their shift and help me get the broken pepper tree branch out by the pool hauled off, move the bougainvilleas and also the tropical hibiscus into the garage area. Then I proceeded out to the garage area, trimmed all of the leaves off the plumerias, moved some of the plants I could move into other areas and made room for 6 more large plants. It took me about 45 minutes but needed to be done or a plumeria was going to get broken.

After they were done, I asked thm if thry anted their Christmas cash now, before black Friday or closer to Christmas. Of course thy said now. So I got three big hugs, three God Bless You and all of my zone pushing plants are inside. Except one.

As I was walking the dogs, I walked right by the variegated white bougainvillea. Different area and I forgot all about it. They also put a freeze cloth over the bougainvillea that grows in the ground. It planted itself under a very large boulder and up against the south side of the house and has lived through 3 winters so I guess it will be OK. I did cover it with a freeze cloth and the tomato is covered with a freeze cloth.

I went to Trader Jo's today after landscape fellow left. It is a small store so I thought no big deal. Man, was I wrong. I had to pick up greens for a salad for tomorrow.

Some young ladies just automatically pick the wrong guy because they think they are not worthy of anything better. It will be hard for her to find someone because she already has two children. Hopefully she can prove he was the father and get Soc Security benefits for the child.

Betty, glad you are going to get some sleep.

You all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. You in Canada, can just over eat to celebrate with us.

This bouquet I picked today around 4pm, just before the sun went down. Suppose to maybe freeze tonight so I wanted to cut them before freezing temps. Just a bunch of greenery, roses, the white bougainvillea, the red berries are mock orange seed pods getting ready to pop.

Hugs to you all. Second one is Luke with his new puppy.

Good morning. and, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all in the U S :-)
I hope you have a wonderful, and, memorable day ..
Yesterday I watched something on TV that sorta blew me away .. President Obama was pardoning a turkey .. apparently it's a custom ?
DH knew all about (he would) ... anyway, Obama and his 2 daughters pardoned a huge white feathered turkey.

Sharon .. my gosh, the bouquet is just beautiful ..
Good you got your plants tended to before the nastier weather comes along .. I do believe you have sent my part of the country some of that wind !
The pic of Luke, and puppy, is a framer :-)

Betty .. how was the roast (s) .. love that recipe .. but, the way things are going,we may have to raise a cow !! It'd be cheaper ..

Karen .. I do so hope your DGD catches a break .. wild and crazy world out there that's for sure ..

ENJOY your day!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Thanksgiving to all od you, may your day be special in every way..think I will take out a turkey dinner so I can celebrate with you all.

Light headed this a.m and I'm still in bed, time to get up and stop playing lazy.

I so am envious Sharon, to have such a spectacular bouquet adorning your table today and from your own garden.i can't even imagine what your gardens look like, a touch of heaven for sure.

What are you all doing today, need to know where to bring my turkey dinner?

Verona, ON

Happy Thanksgiving !!

I'm all ready to enjoy my virtual Thanksgiving feast with you call.

Most of you know I have no family to speak of but I consider you all here my family. And for that I am truly blessed.

My root canal was not as bad as Doc told me it would be. He thought once the freezing came out I would be in terrible pain because to quote him "the soft tissue is severely traumatized". Didn't happen....... some pain but nothing to write home about. Go back in today to get the final fit (I hope) of the top plate plus Doc will check the tooth he worked on yesterday.

Need to anchor some things down outside as the wind is really ramping up.

What time is dinner everyone?
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is great news Dianne, pleasant surprise for sure as you sure dont need more pain!

Don't have your winds but it is mild here..went out in my nighty without a coat look for my shovel, why I would hide it in the middle of the back bushland is beyond me lol. Now to buy some deliver and be ready for the next snow fall.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohh, must ask, this cat and no it's not Missy has been hanging around a bit, today wanting to come and rest on back deck..don't think it's starving by its size but should I feed it or is that and no and it will want to move in with me?

happy thanksgiving

betty it wants to move in lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Best I not feed it then..oops too late already did, hate to think of it being hungry.

Just got a call from Aline, she wants to drop in for a bit, amazing how plans change

Going to be 52 today with rain, likely no snow left by bedtime

Ok by me but my boys have their snowmobiles ready, they are not happy campers

Verona, ON

Betty it is warm here too. The boys and I were just out - they played and I threw some wood around plus topped up the air pressure in 2 of tires. I had to take my hoodie off it was so warm.

The pups are panting so I guess they got a good play in. Need to shower and off to my GP then this aft to my dentist.

Safe travels everyone who is on the road.
D

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, it is ok to feed the kitty, but just remember, he may belong to someone else. Don't take him in the house.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Won't do Lindakay
Dianne you've an entire day of appts..hope all goes well.
Nice to get out this time of year

I'm sitting on the couch hand spewing a binding, sipping a coffee, Missy watching me, content to not go out as its raining..

Lunch hour, maybe toast and jam will fit the bill

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marilynne - yes, it is a US custom to pardon a turkey - that one at least won't get eaten lol Not to say that the turkey's relatives won't, just that Tom Turkey LOL

Here's a huge LOL for you - our tenants delivered more "evidence" on us last night - it says that the constable who came with us on Sept 25 is a racist bigot, related to us, and that we had the police pull guns on our last "tenant" (we were co-tenants, not the landlords.....), and that the police "several times have stopped me and follow me around, hanging around here" (the entrance to the Park is a common place for the police to have a speeding trap - they call it their "fishing hole"). Marcel is paranoid delusional, and THIS is the "evidence he's bringing into the court? He said the officer told him that he was attending a B&E when he came with us on Sept 25th.....
He sent a letter to the City, and they came back saying that this is an issue between the owners (us) and the tenants (them). Basically, the City is telling him that it's not their issue.
Again, THIS is the "evidence" he's bringing against US?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Today I am thankful for my "continental family", a group that spans two countries and stretches from coast to coast to coast.

Dianne, glad the root canal went well. Hope it doesn't present any problems.

Betty, if you can, print out the picture of the kitty and post it where folks in the neighborhood can see it. Add a small note "currently dining at my house" and your cell phone number. Hopefully if this kitty is like Riley, then the owner will be able to reclaim their furball and you will have helped keep it healthy in the meantime.

Have a lovely day folks. Be safe, stay warm and above all, be happy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish you best of luck in court tomorrow! Just keep saving all the evidence against them and show it to the court.

Lyndonville, NY

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!!!

Turkey is in the oven and I actually baked fresh pies last night.

Have been painting the kitchen and DH put in a new floor. What
an improvement.

Betty, feed the kitty and even give it a skritch or two on the head.
God sent him to you for a reason....to help you or help the kitty.

Enjoy your day, stay safe

Debbie
