I thank you brother Ernie for your honest words. That's one saying I kept telling myself, this too shall pass, and yes, a skunk is a skunk.
All these years he had me fooled really well. But as you said, one never know what is the right decision until one took it, but then it can be the wrong one.
My faith is the only hope I have, and no, I do not ever think that you're being condescending, on the contrary. You along with my sisters I had put to task, as to what to make out of this,
I am glad that so many believe me, and especially for someone like you Brother Ernie that has just graced this room not too long ago.
Will be praying for you brother Ernie that our Lord heals you. Thank you Linda for taking care of our beloved brother here! Now, you know what tomatoes are good for? Removing the skunk smell!! Lolol..
Plum jelly! Never had that.
It's fish in vinegar sauce for the meal today. He didn't get groceries, and surprise, down to something he doesn't like. Too bad. He just came in, stepped on a turd and started cussing!
Lolol.. wait till he's served fish!
Sweet Interruptions: Suite 311
Jaye, you are not weak. You are the strongest person I know of, to stay and fight for what you want.
Will he ever change? Who knows. But you can say that you gave it your best shot.
Keeping you both in our prayers.
((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))
I don't think there is a single person here who's weak, and you, Miss Jaye are one of the top strong ones. I know I'd have kicked his sorry a** out a long time ago. That's a different type of strength, and not necessarily the type the Lord wants, but I cannot put up with bad behaviour from a mate. You are a wonderful soldier of The Lord, and I applaud you!! Good on ya!!
Temps. in the high 90's, plants not happy. They say El Nino will come in the fall, California will get lots of rain. Just so there isn't much damage. We can only wait & see.
Anyone ever tried hash brown zucchini? I made myself some and it was so good. I think I could eat it for every meal. My Mandy begged for some and she loved it too. Now I wish my plants would start producing a lot more. Used to make them years ago and everyone enjoyed them.
We are eating zucchini on the grill almost every night.
Cut in half, each half into wedges. brush with olive oil, season and grill until done.
I am the only vege eater here, and I take zucchini in all forms. Love them fried, baked, grilled and especially in ratatoulles. I find they are better in grilling than the yellow squash.
Never had them as hash. Do you grate them Pegi?
Took a nap for the first time in months. Lola's happy she has her mum for the afternoon.
Tried reading but the Kindle decided to fall on my chest!
It is chicken noodle soup on the stove, home made. He left the house for his extra activities with a sore throat, and didn't eat anything since last night.
As I thought, he won't touch the fish, but ate the Ramen noodles.
I can withold a lot back, but I won't change what I am just to inflict pain on him. That's not what God made me as. So, he will eat tonight even though I have that feeling that he is not starving.
Oh.the noodles.. Ramen noodles again.
Supposedly, I'll get the truck fixed tomorrow. I do hope so as there are blocks waiting to be mailed. This is unfamiliar behavior for me. always prompt and on the giving end.
If only we all have crystal balls.
Hello Friends,
A quite day at the daycare so I came home at noon. Spent the day in my bedroom resting my lower back and left hip. When I started bowling my left hip and thigh joint got to hurting really bad. Would get really painful before end of third game :( Then bowling two nights in a row didn't help either. One league ended and the next league will end the 26th whew!! But then carrying babies around all day bothers my lower back :( guess it's time to get back to doing my back exercises. Actually I need to get back to all my exercising so I don't put on the 33 lbs I lost :)
My team on Tuesday night won 1st place :) and I got most improved bowler also :)
Our zucchini is doing good. I eat a lot of it. I love making noodles. I have this Veggetti and I love it!!!
I once thought about being a skunk. I was 38 and a 24 year old at work in our Seattle office came trolling and strutting over a two month time period of flirting on the phone I was down in the big city and she invited me to stop in on my way out of time. My chest puffed out and my hat size stretched. The anticipation of what awaited me was immense. As I neared the exit to her place I began to think. I said romeo your wife and family have not done anything to cause this. I went past the exit and drove for another hour and a half to my OWN wife and kids. That was a forbidden thrill of sorts and I never had thoughts of straying after that.
On the subject of skunks are they white with black stripes or black with white stripes? I have never gotten close enough to determine this. Forty some years ago my bil and I armed with 3 German Shorhairs we were training at a game range anyway it was a warm summer night and nearing the end of our session all of a sudden we smelled the odor of skunk we called the dogs and ran off. We laughed and told each other we were lucky to escape the spray of the skunk or the dogs. Loading the dogs up I thought I smelled skunk but it went away. We decided to get a milkshake on the way home. We pulled into a spot and ordered on the phone. Instantly the people beside us rolled up their windows. Then the loudspeaker sounded off hey you in the pink Rambler with the skunk smell leave right now lol We never got our milk shakes. It was a long night washing dogs and washing us. We ran the little grocery out of T juice and V8. The poor car stunk for a month and longer if it got wet at all inside.
Moral of the story the stripes of a skunk won't hurt you but it's stink will lol ok nuff bout skunks.
Tonight will be my first night of using the cycler machine to do my treatment. Tomorrow I will be free to do anything I want to do when I want to do it.
Had a lovely dinner tonight Silver Salmon on the barbi along with some sautéed zuks and some cauliflower nice hot garlic bread lighty toasted.
Carl my old crab fishing partner came by and brought me some fresh smelt he went home with tomatoes and plums and half a head of cabbage. It was a huge head so much more than we could eat so it all worked out.
Mmmmm smelt, one of the few fish I enjoy. We used to have huge runs here in the spring but not many any more. When the Forsythia bloomed, we knew it was time for the smelt to run. We spent 8 hours cleaning them one time they were so plentiful. Mighty nice to pull them from the freezer all year.
Many years ago there was a country song came out, had lyrics. "I got right next to it but I couldn't do it, I come awfully close". Hubby confessed at that time he had that situation. We cried and got passed it. Maybe made us a bit stronger in a way.
Being a skunk is a choice.
good for you, non-skunk Ernie - glad you're not one, white with black, or black with white doesn't matter - both act the same way.......
yummmm salmon on the barbie
Aren't smelt like anchovies?
I don't think so. when we catch them they are quite small thin fish...6-10 inches long on average. Cleaning is a snap, soak overnight in milk, bread, fry, eat bones & all.
I think there is a difference between fresh and salt water smelt. I know there is quite a difference in the Columbia river smelt and the ones we get here from the salt water. The river smelt spawn in the river the salt water ones spawn at the edge of the shore. You get these with a garden rake. You just rake them out of the water. We do not clean these we just fry them whole and peel the meat away.
Yes having a few packages in the freezer for winter is a treat. I once was hungry for smelt and bought some at a fish market bleeeeech won't make that mistake again.
To answer your question, Jaye, yes shred the zucchini and sprinkle a little salt over it and let sit for a while. Lets excess water out. I love that veggie any way you make it, even love to eat it raw. Don't know why my plants aren't producing like they should. I also have made zucchini relish, but have no idea where I put my recipe. It is so good too. Think it is time I started looking for it.
Our smelt spawn in the rivers and return to the great lakes. Numbers have been greatly decimated by salmon.
Are great lakes smelt also called alewives?
No, they are part of the problem.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smelt_(fish)
They are very easy to clean we use scissors, cut off the head. slit the belly and run thumb up to clean, That's it.
We gave spotted skunks down here.
Cindy that's a neat tool.
I do have a shredder attachment for my Cuisinart, think I'll try that zucchini hash, Pegi.
Each time I use the handheld grater, my hand get so tired easily.
Sometimes I leave sliced potatoes for a few hours in a bowl, to drain the moisture,. Crispier chips when fried.
Ernie, that's funny!!! Skunks aren't bad around here, too many cats maybe. Had a neighbour back in Louisiana that had a pet skunk. Its name was Rosebud.
It was funny to hear it 'bark' at the trash man who'd dump her cans as fast as he could!
Talk about anchovies. Salt water smelt?
Dad used to scoop them up along the shore back home, before the govt. reclaimed the coast line. You just rinse them, or purge in salted water, then deep friy. They are delicious.
My family sends me dried anchovies from Malaysia. Great as snacks.
My ex had an affair through our marriage with a dame called Chivas. He wasn't a happy drunk and was physically abusive. I stayed in that marriage too long, and now, since he found God, he laid off the booze.
Men cheat because they can. The ones that won't, are the true men.
As long as there are bimbos like Kel's whore who don't respect themselves, there will always be cheaters.
Good for you Ernie and Karen, and all my sisters with husbands that adhere to the word honor.. you are all blessed.
ah yes, I'm not married to a skunk - he's true blue, through and through.
aha - just made some Peanut Butter Cup ice cream! My first time - Bob won this ice cream maker in April at his bowling banquet, and this is the first time I've had time, and a countertop and the energy, to make some yummmmm I did taste a bit afterwards, and before I put it in the freezer :-) I know you all would do the same!!
This ice cream maker came with 2 of 1 1/2 quart freezer bowls, so I can make 3 quarts at a time.
Next batch - should be black cherry, ice cream, or mango?
Oooooh Mango. Great to hear you sounding so up Susan.
Mango!!!!! Mango!!!!
I missed home made ice cream
Thank you - I am feeling better, Karen. Move far enough past the hurt & stress, and you're bound to feel better.
Hello Friends,
I am CPR certified!!! yay!!! Next is finger prints and TB test and I will be "legal" to work at my daughter's daycare. Right now I am just "babysitting" lol
My daughter left her job with A Star is Born just in time. The owner is being sued by her ex husband for 1/4 million dollars. She had been collecting alimony and part of his retirement. But she'd also been living with a guy and it's been ten years but a couple of years ago they had a spiritual wedding. Welllll here in Ca after living together for 7 yrs it's considered common law marriage. Don't think she was to bright, lol. So she is closing the daycare and selling everything!!!
I found out something out that just makes me sick to my stomach ugh!!! Ron (the guy I liked) went back to his ex girlfriend. He ended things with me because it bothered him that I drank and smoked too much. When we went on the Redwood Run all we did was sit around camp and did absolutely nothing so yeah I drank and smoked my wacky tabacky to make it more enjoyable lol. He had told me he ended a relationship because all she did was drink and do drugs. Well he's back with her... smh I just don't understand men sometimes??? And Doug is telling people that he got hurt by me, lol what a crock of cow doo doo!!! I am s done with me right now!!!
Hope you all had a great day!!! Gonna be 103 tomorrow ugh good day to stay inside and make candle!
Oh yeah there was a yard sale next door to my daughter and I got a Teeter Hang Up board for $25 Sweet huh???
What is that contraption Cindy? Do you dangle yourself on it?? Lol.
Thank yourself that you didn't invest so much time on Ron and money as you did with Doug.
Well darlin', you now can be happy, free to do what you want without a man crimping your lifestyle.
Pretty desperate for Ron to return to something he once hate!! Lolol.
Slept most of the day. As though my body is making up for my mind's tiredness.
Don't know whether I'll go to church tomorrow. Still no vehicle/
Yes Jaye, you hang up side down :) It is great puts things back where they belong lol Really good for people with back problems etc. For 2 yrs I had a muscle in my right side that was twisted. My doc gave me some exercises to do and they didn't work. Dog got one of these last year and I used it like 3 times and the twisted muscle untwisted itself!!! I'm hoping it will help my lower back and left hip and thigh joint, so that I don't have to go to the doc and get a cortizone shot. My back was hurting a little from sitting in CPR class for 7 hours so when I got home I hung upside down for about 2 minutes and it feels better :)
Wow!! Great that works for you Cindy. I've never used one, and doubt ever would find one here for that price.
LK, you didn't tell us about your company. Was it a great family reunion for Todd and did you bring them to a TexMex restaurant?
The visit was great. We went to the motel where they were staying, and had breakfast next door. Then spent a few hours in the pool. Then they came here, and just sat and had a great visit. Then she brought crab meat and made crab cakes for dinner. As I don't eat crab, Todd bought me a ribeye steak.
Wow Linda, would be a tough choice for me. Rib eye is my fav. steak but I do like crab, it's about the only seafood I do like.
Going to get near 100 again today, supposed to be like this until Wednesday.
I love shrimp, never had crab cakes but sound good to me. Maybe I shouldn't come in here when I am hungry!
Crab cakes are ok but me I like my crab fresh cooked and still hot. A real treat is boil some baby potatoes and add fresh corn on the cob crab halves and a few jumbo shrimp. You just ladle it out on top of the picnic table and dive in very yummy. It is expected you get hungry reading some of this.
Karen when you limit yourself to just crab you are missing out on a lot of good things. I had smelt again tonight very yummy. I have salmon, rock cod, catfish, and halibut in the freezer. And oysters and clams are both oh so good
Well that's it then Ron gets the clown crown He is almost as bad as the cowardly one.
Both feet feel like someone has beat them with a stick. I double dosed my lycria tonight looking for relief I cannot walk even a few steps tonight.
I know I miss out on a lot Ernie, I've always been picky, don't suppose it will end at this late date. My main problem with some foods is I just don't like the feel in my mouth more than the taste. Mushroom and onions for instance. I love the taste of onions but the feel gags me. Peppers of any kind are just awful to me. I think with seafood, it's mostly we didn't have it that often, however your boil? I'd love every bit of it. We had a huge boil once, as crab legs came out, hubby would slit them down the middle with a new carpet knife bought for the occasion. Best I ever had.

Karen why don't tell us what you really think lol.
Here is another great seafood dish. Make a big white sauce and put in baby potatoes and fresh peas and small chunks of halibut yum. I think you could put any fish in and it would still be good

My favorite topic!! FOOD and seafood!
Oh LK, so when you and I go out to a restaurant, you order the surf and turf, and just transfer the surf on to my plate!!
I thought us Asians are addicted to seafood, but the Cajuns are close!
Love any kind of boiled crustraceans. Would do the crabs with corn and baby potates, brother Ernie.
FOr a good crawfish boil, I'll add hotdogs, mushrooms, onions as well.
Sorry Karen. Looks like I'll eat your share of the veges.
There was a Phillip's Seafood Restaurant at Myrtle Beach that serves the best crab cakes. Coastal town and most restaurants serve Calabash style.
I'll even take smoked fish. Back home, we'll smoke the fish in banana leaves. Impart a very nice scent.
Did go to evening service church yesterday. Lord made a way..Kel didn't report for his regular prison work, and I managed to have the truck. He couldn't do his other jaunt,so it seems he etiher does have a second scheduled job or seeing a boyfriend that works on the same shift as him!! Naughty Jaye! Lol.
Anyway, it is so nice to see faces (church folks) that are truly happy to see me.
It's dry as a bone here, temps aren't helping.
The house isn't 'fire' insured, he failed to pay the extra cost,. Thank God I don't smoke nor do I use gas,.
We are heading out camping, as soon as Bob gets back from taking Remy for his nail trim, I pack the perishables, and see if our duplicate rent cheque has been returned.
Will be gone from today, until Friday early evening.
Enjoy each other's company while I'm gone - will think of you often.
I know Remy will love to go walking! We won't leave him out if we're not out - it's bear country!! He'd be just a "snack" for a full-grown bear (ooooooopsie - not good!). Here's a picture of him
Jaye, i will take you up on that dinner some day.
Enjoy your trip Susan
Susan, Remy's a ball of fur!! Do you groom him daily? May your camping trip see no bears..
Thank You, LK! One day sister, one day.
My don't go there foods.. hogshead cheese, liver pudding and, Brunswick Stew
I have heard of hogshead cheese, but not the others.
Liver pudding is a Carolina breakfast option. I hate the taste of it, but I don't mind liverwurst. Or Leberwurst. '
Yeah, Remy is a ball of fur - I don't know what they do for his grooming, but we bought a very nice brush for him - two sided with a soft side and a stiff side. He sure needs it! His hair is long and curly.
We had his nails clipped, but there'd be no point in asking them about grooming - they wouldn't go for it. Asked "permission" for us to get his nails clipped, and the only reason Grace agreed is because she had an accident once and cut too close - he bled a lot apparently. So, what she won't do, she won't expect us to.
