Ahhh likely rain and humidity caused it to just peel away, too bad they can't put that piece on canvas as a keepsake.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a lot of paint layers!

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Betty, be sure to allow extra time if you're going to be on route 30 in Gettysburg, some days the traffic is a nightmare at this time of year

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Terri I will, I did notice when doing mileage/time to drive that they gave quite a large time , must be due to the roads we shall be taking

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I do not think I could do that trip. If I could I do know I would be wiped a the end. That is a lot crammed into a few days.

I am siting on the back patio enjoying our morning 83 degrees with slight breeze. It will not be like this in a few hours

I have not been bitten by anything in a long time, knock on wood. I cannot imagine being bitten by more than one ant because I remember the last ant bite and it was only one ant bite and it was very painful. Felt like I had been hit by a BB from a BB gun.

Marilyn I am with you but that happens to me whether the appointment is in the morning or afternoon, it screws up my whole day. Puts me totally out of sync. I just end up spinning my wheels.

Yes, Betty, this step-daughter has been a pain in the a** for over 40 years. About a year ago I finally made it clear the ATM was closed. She used to get money from her dad for many many years behind my back but he no longer writes checks or manages any funds and that gravy train has been cut off. He has always had his own checking account an his Social Security is directly deposited into that account. This is the daughter that had her Dad ask the estate attorney if when her Dad dies, because she is assuming he will die first because he is 10 years older than me, that 1/2 of the estate be dispersed. I did not even have to answer the question because the attorney jumped in and said absolutely not. What if Mrs. Winter has major medical problems and needs full time nursing help. Then last year, just before the I am done attitude set in, on both sides, she ask about the will. I told her it was upstairs in the vault but what did she want to know about it. And really do not worry about it because I plan on spending all of it before "we" die. My daughter tells me if Vern does die and his daughter does come to visit, I will need to hire a food taster just for my safety.

Now you know all of my dirty secrets.

I need to go get my shower and start my day. I will return. Hugs to you all. Sharon

mulege, Mexico

I'm feeling better. I guess. Still very low energy but that's normal for this time of year and for me.

Rethinking home improvement plans. With the house paid for, new tires and Saul paid I still have to go north the end of next week for medical tests and maybe buy a split a/c. Gave Tony a brief sundown of my current thinking so we're on the same page.

A couple more jackfruit seeds have sprouted but the birds have found them so I've got old fan covers and other stuff protecting them. One seedling died from damping off but two are doing well.

My niece (who lives in Portland, Or) wants to coordinate and meet me in San Diego sometime. Probably not this next trip but maybe in August or Sept. I haven't seen her in a long time. She's the only family member I have any contact with.

I'm with Sharon, Betty. Just reading your plans tires me out.

Max really needs a bath but he's impossible to handle. He hasn't bitten me lately but he did snap at my foot the other night when he was sleeping at the end of the bed instead of next to me where he usually is. I think I'm pretty well trained. I might be able to give him a Benadryl and use some Wen on his back but I have to be feeling very alert and be careful. He's fine unless he feels threatened. He likes to sleep back to back with me. I just have to remember not to reach over to pet him while he's asleep.

Still missing Jennybear and her endless cheerfulness.

Back to cleaning up.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ow ants..... I remember getting bitten by a nest of fire ants when in Florida, then I got sunburn on top of that........
Katie - I feel your pain re: ant bites!!
Marilynne - is Lorna's bite better? poor girl!!!!!

Today I went out and cleared space on the patio by moving stuff when it should be, usable on the patio stone portion. Under the upstairs deck is our patio - made of poured cement. L-shaping off that is a patio stone type of patio. That's where I've now put our patio table, and BBQ.
When I cleared the area, I brought in the dishwasher. We won't install it, but have to hook it up to see if it leaks. Harold says he knows of a dishwasher that wasn't used for 5 years and the seals had not dried out. We'll see when we hook it up to the water supply - has to be to both hot & cold, because if we hooked it up outside to just the cold, we may be missing that the hot water hose is leaking.
Anyway, it's inside, where it will be installed if all is good.
Bob's going to hook up the washer/dryer tonight - thank goodness!! Maybe the dryer too?
At the very least, the washer/dryer, and he'll get the new countertop

Sharon .. I think (know) ALL of us have 'family issues' to deal with ..
Mine has, is and always will be my DinL, Alison .. she is a HUGE pain in my butt .. a tRUE 100% 'biatch .. I only put up with her to keep the peace in the family .. but, I wouldn't miss her if I never saw her again .. she made my life completely unbearable for several years by lying, and being sneaky ..
Nuff said .. I wish you well ..

My appy was for 1:45pm .. got in at 2:30, and out at 3pm .. I am to keep on with the biologic shots .. blood work is pretty ok .. yadda yadda.

Guess I find your itinerary busy Betty as when we travel we haven't one .. we have a destination, but, nothing structured, just go with the flow ..
Do take care .. have fun ..

Wonder how Susan is doin ?

Best get offa here, Lorna is due home and I am taking her into town for her blood work ..
It's about 90F here right now .. gag me :-)

I'm here, Marilynne - just having breakfast - NEED to sit down....... my knees are telling me to do so

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mom got here, went shopping,I cut grass, tired, read all your posts, be back in a bit!

mulege, Mexico

It's very overcast here and thundering. Expect rain will follow soon. Still lots of clean-up going on in town from the last rain. Being a desert with few paved streets we get lots of mud when it rains.

I potted up a few more baby jackfruit plants and there are a couple more poking through the planter. Also potted up a bunch of little flame tree plants. I'd like to plant them by our new road if we can keep them from being stolen.

A person on craigslist has a split a/c up for sale. I wrote and he's agreed to hold it - without a deposit!! - until I can pick it up next weekend.

I've gotten some cleaning done. Lots of mice activity. I reminded Tony that he has too keep after setting the traps. That's one of the jobs I leave to him.

I'm feeling much better. Those ant bites were nasty.

Happy traveling, Betty and friends.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

katie - did you see my piano for sale, on craigslist? you can have it for half price lol
Glad you're feeling better, katie

mulege, Mexico

We had a loud and heavy rain. All dogs were nervous but we stayed in our pack and survived with no yowling or whimpering -not even from me.

It's better than a hurricane. It will be muddy but the road should hold.

hugs,katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ah, you're part of the pack, eh Katie?
They must be very comfortable with you. That's the way families are :-)
Glad to hear you're safe.

Just dropping in to say hi
Been busy
We are leaving for our trip to CA on Tuesday. Very excited. this may be the last time I see my father , as his dementia is getting worse, he may not recognize us the next time we goto visit. don't know when that will be . I will be in school and then need to find work. may be another few yrs before I get over there again.
Betty safe travels
Susan hope the knees are better today
Dianne those berries sound good, our berry season was short, due to all the rain we have.
M good news to hear blood work is good . to bad about the nasty family, How is Lorna ? And the rest of the gang😊
worms sorry about the nasty relative also, sure sucks when you have one to deal with. Can't argue with crazy
Karen neat pic of the rock, what history
Hi Terri big wave to you

TGIF and, blast off day for Betty and the crew ..
Godspeed, and, travel safe all ..

Sue, I am hoping your trip to Cali goes well .. it'll be tough, emotionally.
All the best ..

Katie, good luck with the A/C .. do you use 'swamp coolers' in your area ? My friend in AZ does, a bit noisy, but, it works.

Susan .. watch those knees, hope you have a productive day today ..

Dianne, will try ti keep the thunder boomers here, but, with the high temps, the weather has a life of its own.
Lorna and I were in town last evening, I waited in the car, and the sky started to darken .. on our way home, the rain became almost torrential !
Her blood is ok .. but, she has been put on an antibiotic for a week for that wasp sting .. it has gotten so swollen !!
She is hard at it, wants to win an award for the cemetery for the gardens .. fingers crossed!

Waving good morning to everyone ..

Safe travels Betty and the girls.... Busy times for you all...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Have a few things to do this morning, leaving at noon, will be doing lots of stops as Linda needs to be moving around..sunshine day here..looked at weather forecast and some rainy days this week but heck that can change, packed umbrella just in case..thanks to all for well wishes, I'll be doing updates...know ths morning Suzanne will have a difficult time of it..big sigh!

Sue, enjoy your trip and time with your dad..you are flying right?

"m" if anyone deserves the award it's Lorna..she sure is a spirited lady.

Katie, sure hope the storm has passed you by..with all that mud here is hoping you don't have to go to town until it dries up

Dianne, how did you make out eating the berries?? Mouth watering here.

Susan, you are making headway! Good to hear..here is hoping the seals are good

Verona, ON

Safe travel Betty! Hope you have fair weather on your travels.

Sue are you flying? Safe travels to you too.

Berries are amazing. For some reason the berries from this farm have very few little seed. I even ate a little lunch as we try to make a day of it. I know the other 2 ladies love going to different places to eat. This place was right on the Napanee River so we had a table outside.Lots of baby ducks and lots of huge boats.I had a tomato Bisque soup that was excellent. Had berries and ice cream for dinner.

Katie I know you are the alpha in the pack. When we had a bad T and L storm my first thought was Max. Is he better all round now ?

Barb do you and Norm have plans for the weekend?

I either need to cut the grass or get a goat. Doc didn't want me to do anything too strenuous for a couple of weeks. What a great excuse not to use. Close to be healed right up but there are still a couple of spots that have not healed.

Streak and Sassy are demanding they be fed. So off I go!

Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Betty, please drive safely, and enjoy your trip. We will be waiting for updates and photos.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty & group safe travels and have fun. Hugs to all the rest. Busy day today. more company coming. As a surprise for grandson, his best friend is coming he hasn't seen in over a year. One more person to tuck in somewhere. Tough tucking Grandson is 6'3", Grandson in law is 6' 8" as is grandsons friend. not easy tucking with those three. For the next week we will be land of the giants.
Washer& dryer also being delivered & installed tomorrow. Will be tricky. we have to remove back door, and move freezer out of the way.
Having to take our little rescue Cocker Spaniel to the vet every few weeks. She has a digestive problem. Causes her stomach to swell up and the most awful gas. (so nice she stays right by my side) She is on prednisone and a special food. Vet would like us to leave her so they can do complete tests but would cost us over $1000. so no can do. My bills are over $4000. and having a tough time paying them. Hospital not happy only getting $50. per month, but I proved to them it was all I could do. They are still adding to the bill faster than I'm paying. I keep wondering when it will end.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

good morning Ladies!!
Betty - safe & wonderful trip! :-)
yaaaaaaaaay Karen - new washer & dryer - always nice! wow - Vet bills are nasty expensive!
Land of the Giants, indeed!!!!

Dianne - you're the alpha in your pack of Thundering Herd lol can you hear Katie's? I'm sure they thunder too, which is why they're not afraid of T&L, maybe?

I'm desperately trying to sell my 1872 antique upright grand piano - now I'm down to offers.........
I know you're going to say that everyone is downsizing, but surely somewhere in Calgary (and no, not outside, that would ruin it). In 10 months time we may be back in our Mobile home...... but we can't live with the 5 ft long x 27" wide piece - not when we just have 8 x that width (approximately) more in the place...... that's a pretty fair estimation of the width of the living room.....

mulege, Mexico

Tony picked up the mail and there is another threatening letter from the IRS. I ca't stop crying. I've left a voice mail to the person I had to send some signed forms to. If he has not received them I have another major problem to deal with. I will also call the IRS man in San Diego to see if he can help.

While I can't stop crying right now I am also thinking about what I can do when I stop. No violence, I promise.

Meanwhile, I have a ton of laundry due to last night's storm.

hugs, katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Did you send them Registered and Signature Required? It's the one way you can prove you sent them.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Susan .. stooped question .. would it fit in your storage unit, OR, this is right OT there, perhaps a church or seniors home might want to 'piano sit' for a few months?
I know some homes have clients who play piano, but, the facility hasn't one .. just a suggestion .. do you have a pic ?

Karen .. DH and I cringe at the thoughts of something going awry with any of our pooch crew .. the vets in Canada have a license to steal .. but, whatcha gonna do .. I know of one elderly lady who was a spinster, and, had an 18 yr old fur baby that was her world .. almost ALL her savings went towards a kidney transplant for 'Pickles" .. he lasted another 3 months ..
I would imagine all they do at the vets is give your Cocker something like 'Beano', or, insert a rectal tube to get shed of the gas ..
Enjoy your giants .. DS is 6'4" and DGS is going to surpass that !

Dianne .. glad your day went well .. the berries sound delish .. we are on our last 2 litres of strawberries .. might pick some Saskatoons, then come the blueberries .
I often pondered how a few goats would look on our lawns .. Sue doesn't seem to have a great love of them ..

Doing absolutely NUTTIN today .. so far , FBook, scrabble and email .. makes me feel bad as Lorna is working away ..
Maybe I'll go visit her .. altho, that would entail actually MOVING and getting dessed .. I'll think about it LoL

Soon time to flee the scene Betty .. thumbs up !!!! Happy Trails to you (do you hear Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing)

Toodles

Karen - I am in Mexico. No registered mail. katie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Trying to catch up...hugs for the hurting, hugs for the sad, and hugs for the happy.

Some days are like walking a treadmill...lots of walking but going nowhere. So sorry the BS is still plaguing you Katie.

Lately when things are less than nice or happy or just not what I would like, I walk down the halls of the care facility where MIL is. I see so many with reasons to be miserable, but some folks seem to have found a way to get beyond that. They smile, laugh and try to participate as best they can, unlike my MIL who sees everything through a glass, darkly.

Dianne, glad you are mending...hugs to you and the boys.

Betty, safe travels and hopes for joyous memories.

Hope everyone of you finds a smile today.

Verona, ON

Betty is probably in her car which she has started because she is SO ready for this holiday. Have a blast!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

(((Katie))) Lots more hugs where those came from....... wish I could give you a hug, For Real.........
Can you phone the person and find out if they got the letter?

I'm going to check to see if someone wants to "piano site" for about a year....... and if Marcel & Carolyn move out, then we get our home back and can bring the piano back home........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Does Marcel have room for it?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

of course they do - they have FAR less furniture than we ever did (except when we first moved to Calgary and our furniture was in storage lol We were using a bit of borrowed furniture.
I just moved the piano to the stairwell to upstairs!! Couldn't have done it with a door there! It leaves about 14" to the other wall of the stairwell, and it overhangs the kitchen doorway by about 8" (which is fine - it's a wide enough doorway). This frees up a lot of room in the living room! It's only 27"wide, but that's a lot when you're talking about a coffee table between, and wall space that the piano took up. Now it's only 8" into our "space" next to the doorway.
AND I found our dishes! They were in a box on top of the piano, and Tupperware was put in the top of the box, hiding the rest of the contents.........as it was heavy, I wasn't lifting it, nor did I realize that it should have been light with Tupperware. Ah well, we now have our cutlery, and dishes, and found most of our pots & pans.
The moving company hasn't gotten back to me except to apologize for the delay (because of it being summer-time busy in the industry) and say they will be looking into our issues and get back to me later. They packed us on the 7th, and moved us on the 8th. It's taking longer than I expected......

mulege, Mexico

After numerous phone calls I think things are settled. But I'm not very trusting. I went off on the attorney who tried to tell me it was because I'd done something. My IRS man had told me she had been helpful so I curtailed myself - somewhat. But I explained - loudly - that I had filed the suit which she was blaming me for instigating - because I got a letter threatening that they were going to take my money an I would have no appeal if I didn't. I really don't know how ignorant some of these people are. What I do know is that, like "my" retirement people what they seem to do best is blame the victim of whatever horrible stuff they are doing.

I feel like Jane Fonda at the end of "They shoot horses, don't they?" There is no way to win.

Yesterday I was starting to feel good, thinking I was really done with them.

katie

mulege, Mexico

The rain brought out more ants. They got my feet when I checked the garden.

This ceases to be amusing.

We had taco salads last night. Everyone loves them and easy, just put out the fixins and everyone makes their own.

Rainy here, hope it stops soon as washer & dryer are due in a couple hours.

DGD & hubby are on their way, making good time, almost to Ohio.
