Best/Worse//What did I learn today?chat with friends old&new

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ooooh weeee! I don't like being cold but that is way too hot for me. Smart to stay indoors Linda.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Thunder boomers and a light show here most of the night .. radar shows we are likely to have rain most of the day .. maybe ..
DH wanted to go pick strawberries guess we'll have to play that one by ear ..
He is feeling 'so/so' Betty .. coming off prednisone slowly, and, starting to feel the aches and pains, most particularly his left knee .. no appt as of yet for the surgeon to see about the carpal tunnel surgery. .. his fingertips remain numb ..

I'm with Betty Katie .. I dislike bugs IN the house .. some ants are bound to come in on the dogs, but, their time indoors in short lived ..

Uggg .. starting to feel the humidity in the house .. ikkkk ...

Best get Lorna going, if she does go .. knowing her she will, and she'll just prune shrubs if it rains ..

Annie made it to her new home, and is very happy there. I met up with Kathleen in Indianapolis, and she drove Annie on to her new home in Kentucky on July 3rd. So far, everything there is good.

Still waiting to hear about my car, they said Friday, then Friday they said Monday, so I'm hoping today. I need to return the rental car by 1pm or get charged for another day, so I'm hoping I'll hear early.

Supposed to be bad storms going through today, sky is black right now. Heard them say 60 mph winds this morning, we could do without those! Didn't really listen to the weather until I was on my way to work, I think I left a couple windows open, hoping things don't get too wet! I don't think there's anything near those windows that could get ruined. Areas in front of windows are usually clear, because if it wasn't clear, the dogs would knock over whatever was in their way. Need to see what's outside, there might be a squirrel to bark at!

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear Annie is happy in her new home.

Sure hope you get your car back soon!

Victoria Harbour, ON

So happy to hear Annie is adjusting well, has to be so difficult being shifted from one home to another! Hoping you hear about your car this a.m,costly for rental and repairs.

Keep bad weather in your area "M"and Deb, it's a sunshine day here, calling for 86
Guess I'm in the middle of temps you all are having, 107 lindakay, much much too hot

Had trouble with a/c yesterday, water on the floor, called Greg..seems when they out the new washroom cabinet in the laundry room they squished the tube that runs water to the sump pump, hoping that's it because it's an easy and cheap quick fix

Feeling lazy today, think I will push myself outside and pick flowers/weeds. Lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Betty, looks as though Peterborough is getting some bad weather, we're still overcast and foggy .. AND .. n the mid 90s with the humidex .. Lorna just texted us to say she was soaking wet.
DH and I were going to go grocery shopping, but, there's a good chance there could be a thunderstorm on its way, and, we won't leave the dogs alone .. Zoey and Piper just shake and want to be held ..

Deb, so hoping Annie has found her happiness .. you're her earth angel :-)
I just called re my car having
'some kind of check up' seems it has been forever since I was in .. I usually get a card in the mail, or, a phone call .. left a message .. I lease my Toyota, so try and take good car of it .. typical lil ol granny, I usually return a car that is spotless with LOW mileage .. likely sold for big bux too .. still have a year on the lease .. not sure what I'll do when it's up .. kinda pricey !
Just hope your car is ready today ..

Have a cake in the oven .. lordie .. if anyone is looking for a SUPER easy, and, delicious cake recipe, this is it ..
All in one bowl .. cake mix, pudding mix, bananas, eggs, oil, water .. nuts if you want .. zip it up with a hand mixer .. bake .. and, MOIST like you would not believe !!!

Best get moving .. bones are groaning

One more group to come see the garden, but they're not coming until September 15th.

I was supposed to go help Joan in her garden today. She's having Art and Artists in the garden on July 25/26. You remember her, Betty. Where you got your gorgeous iron basket.

Cleaned a clients' house this morning, then gave plasma. High-tailed it home cause 60-70 mph winds were coming. (Wish you had kept them, Deb!) it seems to be passed us now. Still raining, but not windy like before.

Victoria Harbour, ON

We have a risk of thunderstorms tomorrow so I will cover the lawn furniture tonight...here is hoping yours doesn't develop into something worse than some bing bangs

I have babana's and pudding "m" and would love to try your cake

Just fired a load of dragonflies, have 2 more firings sitting waiting for kiln..thought I'd stock up seeing girls want to do more windows..should get some sewing done but decided I'd rest..Greg coming for supper, loves the chicken and sliders..hoping to get one TV dinner out of it for mom

Victoria Harbour, ON

I do indeed remember her gardens..man who sells rusted iron gave it up, was unable to get a piece..had I had more time coming to the gathering I could have stopped. Still lots to bloom Joyce?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes, Betty, still lots coming. The hydrangeas are just getting a good start. Lilies are starting to open, and Glads haven't shown up yet. Crape Myrtle is just now starting the show as well as the agapanthus. Always fun to take a walk to see what new thing has opened up.

Lucky you

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - just stopped in for a bit, to read what's going on in your lives......
Prayers to all - hoping results from Drs are what you want/need them to be.
Those that aren't resting and should - Get Some Rest......... gardens and the "to do" list will wait for another day. If it's not threatening - take it easy.
Katie - you deserve a little retribution...........!! actually, a LOT!!

Doing some prep work so Harold can put in our kitchen. Sure do want a kitchen sink............. So happy we found a kitchen cabinet installer! Should be done by ?Wednesday?

Not too long of a wait Susan..who will pay installation cost, sure hope not you, you deserve a break. Do you share the back yard? Know you enjoy your flowers..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

there is NO charge for installation - got this fellow from Albertans Helping Albertans...(20 years designing & installing kitchens). we just have to pay for a few parts to install - not sink or plumbing.. These parts are taken from the fact that we are getting free rent for July. We did have to pay $150 for the entire kitchen. They told us up-front that they would pay $200 for kitchen cabinets and we got some for $350, so paid $150, plus $50 for the parts (dishwasher kit, plugs for plumbing, etc. $15 for 15 cabinet knobs......). We're doing alright, given these conditions. Rent is $1000 a month, and they pay all utilities.
The kitchen cupboards are thermo-foil and quite modern. Very nice.
We have a lot of sweat into this, but it will be worth it.
Robert had said he would help Bob install the kitchen, but we'd rather have someone who KNOWS how to do it, and is free to boot! Harold is experienced in kitchen install, and says "giving is receiving". Albertans Helping Albertans is all for free!!! Harold lives not to far from here, and Bob picks him up and takes him home. Harold says that when we get everything in the kitchen (dry fit the cabinets, etc) he should be able to get it 90% done in one day.
Today I moved one cabinet in, moved a whole whack of boxes out and onto the bed, and am doing other "shifting" so they can move the other cabinets into place. lol we have one cabinet in our bathroom - very crowded in here LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got to give you credit Susan, things don't seem to get you down, I'd be down for the counting ions ago! Now that's quite an organization, wonder if they have such a thing in Ontario,,never heard of it if they do.
You will sleep well tonight that's for sure

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I find I get more help if I'm reasonably needing help. Try not to get "down in the mouth". I don't help myself then, either...
Looking on the bright side of things helps, in all ways.......

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Just in quickly, am on a borrowed computer. Good thoughts to you all. Skimmed through and hope I got all the important stuff.

M, good positive thoughts and hugs. Glad Lorna's wrist/hand are recovering, and hope all improves for Gord

Katie...Brava! Hang in the kiddo. Letting some things fall to the wayside can be good for the body and the soul.

Sharon, hope tests have a good outcome...both you and Vern get win/win results and your lives back.

Susan, glad things are getting resolved for you and Bob. My Mom used to say when times were rough "Keep your head down and keep putting one foot in front of the other". Asked if one might fall with their head down and Mom said "No, your head is bent in prayer as you keep moving forward. The Lord will be your Guide if you let Him lead. Steady on Susan.

Dianne, take care....hope all goes well and relatively pain and hassle free. Maybe a couple tracks from Safire will help ease the Blues.

Betty, in regards to making the best of things, I ran across this the other day:

TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO HAVE A GOOD DAY.

LK, fingers crossed for you first for the relief you get from your injections, and then for a surgery date in the near future.

Barb, glad Norm is hale and well. Know the heat and humidity are taking their toll on you. Hope there is a break in the weather soon.

Karen, sounds like a bit of pure joy having the Grands there. Making memories they'll treasure.

Not much change for MIL. Sees the cardiologists Tuesday AM and we shall see from there.

Apologies to anyone missed, had to start and stop typing..
better send before this becomes hours long...

Best to you all, Jean

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, you MIL as well as your family are in my prayers. You aren't overdoing are you?

Today is a great day to have a good day!! Now isn't that the truth

With the heat you must be having are you able to get into the gardens? How is your grandson doing?

Greg just left, not without telling me I can't just leave the screen doors closed, both main and screen doors must be closed..said I just opened the back door, didn't get away with that. He said then why do you have the door stop placed in front of it..kids, too smart lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Betty.
Not much garden activity here. Too hot/rainy/mosquito laden and not much time of late.

GSJordan is doing well and enjoying his job. Think we have found a replacement vehicle for him.
Think things have settled a bit in his world.

Greg just knows that you do not know many strangers, Betty...even if you have not yet met them. He has a care for his Mom. GRIN

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Had some 50% off coupons for JoAnn's that were going to expire on Wed. Had to run in anyhow, got the girls a cute colorful Jelly roll to make more headbands. They are fondling the fabric now trying to decide on favorites. They had neon color elastic too. Tomorrow is supposed to be a stormy day so fabric is just in time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad Jordan has is doing well and am sure he's anxious to get wheels...

odd that with all these skitters in our neighbourhoods they are not warning poeple about West Nile virus

Jean, he is worrying about the a/c fighting the heat I'm letting in re doors open..as for strangers and open door policy he has given up. Lol. That being said though I am locking them at night

Although Karen it seems like yesterday the kids came you are almost 1/2 way through their visit..bet they love doing crafts with you

Noticed one of the stepping stones are gone, wondering which of the twins came and got theirs.
I should take a photo of the one left before they are gone

Gave them glass and they did their own thing

Oh I know Betty, just a couple more days til halfway. I will miss them so when my fun is done for this year.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love that stepping stone Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dragonflies don't look like dragonflies lol but I didn't want to take away their creativity!

Know you will miss them terribly Karen but you do take a few trips before the snow falls right

Seems like yesterday I brought Darlene home from Florida, won't be that many more months and I'll be driving her back

Got the patio set covered just in case it rains..Sooo humid out

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

To them they do. Did you find a memory card?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Steady as she goes........ that's me.........

Harold will be by on Thurs night for cabinets - to install them, that is

No, went back to walmart and bought one

Thursday is not long to wait Susan!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Blustery is what we have wakened to .. with a 30 degree temp DROP . it's 58F this morning .. the dogs love it .. and so do I .. had to go out and move my Petunia hanging basket as last evening a squirrel accessed it so he could jump onto a bird feeder .. grrrrrrrrrr

Love the dragonflies Betty .. creative and colourful .. as for the a/c versus opened doors and windows, we are vigilant once the temps top off at around 80F .. windows are closed, doors shut .. gawd forbid the a/c broke down because we were making it work too hard ..

DH is, hopefully off for strawberries this morning .. cancelled picking yesterday due to rain .. once that's done we'll head to town for groceries

Susan .. stay the course :-)

Karen .. happy sewing with the kids ..

Thinking about Dianne today .. saying a wee prayer for a good apt ..

Have a great day everyone .. nice to see you posting Jean, and, I HATE mosquitoes !!!!!!!

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, overcast, calling for thunderstorms today..gardens could use a good watering!
"m" our strawberries were small..not a good crop, yours likely ok because you had better weather than we.

Not sure the girls are coming today, Dr appts and healing going on but just I case I turned act OFF as they are not fond of cold.

Got my housework done and thinking, now what

Put another batch of glass in the kiln
Housework done
Load of wash in the works
Did my envelopes for daily gas/entertainment/hotels ready for the trip..girls will drop off their funds next week and I can't get them filed with the daily $$$
So am on top of things, I think
Now if Suzanne calls and cannot make the trip we will have to regroup and figure things out

Craft room tv has a humm to it, guess I will look for sakes and buy one, should need anything more than a 26 inch, reasonable price these days..all throw aways, no calling repairmen

So here is is, finished with breakfast and to do's so off to sew...back to my quilt project before I lose interest

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Waving hello! Betty read me the riot act about checking in, so here I am! Checked!

Have a program planning committee meeting at Sherry's this morning. She's going to feed us lunch. Then off to Kathy's for supper and on to garden club at 6:00. We're touring a daylily farm. However, that being said, were expecting more rain and club has already been postponed one week for rain and high wind so if that faces us again, well cancel for the month.

Off to hop in the shower!

Have a great day all!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Looks like you are all busy today.
Don't over do it.

Verona, ON

Thanks M. I won't lie and tell you I'm not concerned about seeing Doc. In fact I am terrified
I made the apptment for 3:15 because Steve thought he could finish his day in time to drive me in. Then I was going to drive myseif in, taking my phone if I needed help. Worst scenario was I would drive in and call a taxi to take me home..

Raspberries are at their prime right now for picking. The blue raspberries will be coming on the middle of next week. I love the blue ones.

Betty I sure hope that you all will be able to have a great adventure.

LK how is the pain level?

A friend posted a pic of the Thundering Herd on my FB page. I have no idea how to transfer the photo to here. Jamie-Lou thinks of my guys as 'big' - she has a 17lb doxie.

Skeeters are horrid this morning. We sure didn't walk far. The boys noses were literally covered in deer flies and skeeters.

Need to find something to keep my mind busy until I leave at 2 pm.

Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Dianne easy to bring pic here from FB. click on it, then right click and select save image as, name it save it. I usually just drag & drop to desktop but not necessary. Open Choose a file here, double click on pic you want. That should do it.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((Dianne))))) I'll be with you at the Dr''s....... no need to be terrified!!! Worse case scenario - I"ll be the taxi driver lol
Once you've added a picture to here once, it's going to be easy - just have to Get To It

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This is Dianne's thundering herd.
Wish you the best for your dental appt.

Pain level is still pretty good, I need to go to the chiro again and get my sciatica nerve adjusted, but hip and back pain is good.

Thumbnail by taters55
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh my.... that would be a thundering herd, for sure!!

LK - glad to hear your pain level is better :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahh look at those sweeties..can see they are mega spoilt Dianne!
With you as well, am sure all will go well but still overwhelming I'm sure.
Never heard of blue raspberries, only blueberries.
Mil had patches of raspberries, did jam and sold them, miss getting a bit of both.

Bet lindakay you feel as though you've a new lease on life being pain free

Joyce, riot act, no not me 😉

But like everyone who drops in worry about you all

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Saying a quick hello ... thoughts are with our Dianne .. I sure do hope Steve is with her ..
As for her thundering herd .. SPLENDIFEROUS !!!

Just put a strawberry pie in the oven .. DH got 2 baskets, and the berries are gigantic, and, SWEET .. I took a couple of pics (of course)

Went shopping for groceries .. quite the arrangement .. 2 lists, one cart .. half ours, half Lornas, and, we do the dang POINTS thing at this store .. I guess I shouldn't complain .. I have an $80. credit for groceries, and Lorna has $70. Comes in handy when her folks visit ..
Anyway .. my right hip, the replaced one, has been bothering me the last few days .. I was so glad to get home ..

Have a laundry in, destined for the clothesline, beautiful east wind off the lake here ..

Pics are of strawberries and dogs ..

Peace .. out
