Good morning all.
Chilly and raining here this morning but it is supposed to stop soon and then clear off. Sure hope so as today is get out and go to knitting day. Been busy cleaning the sewing room and knitting some more baby sweaters. Making more of the little ones for the hospital.
I put together a table runner and it is fairly long. Thought I might hand quilt it but the hands are saying NO!!! So I'm waiting for some of that invisible thread Betty raves about to come in and I will do the runner by machine. Have a small wall hanging too with several colors in it so I think that thread could be used there as well.
Won't be long now until Betty and her crew are on the road. Safe travels dear friend.
Keeping you all in my prayers every day. Must head to the breathing machine for my treatment. Hope today is a great one ~~~~~

Morning all,
Not a wonder why Susan you'd have lost your get up and go, mentally I'd be more than exhausted. Take pictures of your treasures to enjoy then let them go! Bothers me though that your landlord has a say, you are not living in her basement you are renting a home to live how you wish to live, this could turn out as bad as living with Mike..maybe I've picked up a bad vibe which isn't accurate.
Barb I do love the thread, when I paid an exuberant amount of $$$ for it I thought I was being wasteful but I'd buy it again for sure. Hope you get to your knitting group..how is Norm doing?
"m"100, she surely has lived a long life and deserves a birthday party. Was there must damage to the cemetery from the storm?
Waiting for coffee, slept right through the night and hated to get up this morning, sure was tired last night but worth it as the ladies all went home happy.
Nothing planned for this weekend, think I'll schedule in ..rest..as my to do's
Yes Barb we leave 2 weeks today..I just know Suzanne will not be able to come..Joyce pack your bags and meet me in Buffalo ☺️
No, little ones haven't seen the gates yet, must say when the girls left last night it looked so pretty with the 4x4 post solar lights..they must charge them because they were only out for a few hoursand already glowing
Weather is overcast, like to do more weeding so hope rain passes us by
Dianne, how are you feeling, mouth healed?
Sharon how is Vern?
Coffee ready, be back in a bit

Morning everyone.
Sounds like your all off and running already!
I went to San Antonio yesterday to get the last of the 3 injections in my hip. WOW, I am walking this morning with no cane, and no limp! I sure hope it stays this way!
I need to go out and trim the roses, with all the rain we have had, I am getting black spot on them, so I need to find my gloves and give them a trim!
Don't forget that Joy has the old, new borrowed and blue swap open.

Betty - Grace is just trying to be helpful, and she is. She's also right - but our timelines are different. She's not in the middle of a 2nd move in 6 weeks, so can't quite understand.
LOL she suggested making a list of "priorities" that I need to do - I laughed with her about that, because I told her that I don't need another piece of paper to lose in all this "stuff".
Not to worry everyone - my downsizing (while difficult to pull stuff out in an already tight space) will happen. I have to take pictures, and it's supposed to rain today.
Robert had asked Bob to help him fix his deck above - leaks through to our patio below when it rains, so that's on the "to do" list, but means I can't put stuff out that could be wrecked in the rain.
I need a strong man during the day at home, to help me with this stuff. Grace is willing, and strong, and so is Robert. Robert has, this spring, had brain surgery and tries to do too much. Grace & I both worry about him, but he keeps right on going......
Well as long as you didn't jump from the frying pan into the fire..I would think poor Bob will be too exhausted to help this weekend and rightly so..
Got to get out of these Jammie's, beautiful day out there
I had coffee while going through glass scraps, have an entire box of glass charms for the garbage, a tin full of little pieces so accomplished a little something
The big mirror in the garden I added a few dragonflies to might just get an edging of these little bits of glass, I call it recycling and a restful project..
Hair. Looks like a witch's but I will leave it be as I get a perm at 3 so why waste time curling, now watch me get company. Lol
Bob is exhausted, poor man..... but Marcel is trying so hard to help us - he's awesome. Told me that Carolyn wants me to visit, and get some laundry done at the same time. What a sweetheart pair these two are..... so glad we have them as tenants.
That is nice
I need to get a visit in, and get out of this moving/construction zone I call my home. Maybe get enough of a breather that I can get more done here.
A little break away can work wonders Susan. Let you recharge.
I agree, might do wonders, get your mojo working
I had little ones helping me this morning, I feel like my name is Karen playing with these little ones
They picked glass and told me there to put it on the mirror
Sun beaming on the mirror so terrible photo, will get a good photo once it's placed in the garden
we have someone who'll help Bob with kitchen cabinet install!!!!!!!! Bob will pick him up at 10am tomorrow.
That means we'll have a sink tomorrow, and counters, and cupboards...... omg..... a real kitchen!!!
See, you saved all those pieces for a great project!
Yeah Susan!
Looks good Betty.
Norm is fine. Last PET and MRI came out clean so we are actually great!!!!
Betty my dear ... do you feel the 'love' ... well .. it's coming to you in hugs of appreciation from Lorna ..
She thanks you once again (and forever more) for the 'ice collars' .. it's about 92F here at present, and, it is saving her from overheating .. and, she has had some strenuous jobs to do today ..
So .. her thanks (and mine) from the heart ..
Great idea re the mirror .. between you and Karen you are giving the young ones some GOOD direction that's for sure ..
Susan .. thrilled to hear about your progress ...
Always wondering re Dianne, and Katie, and some of the other MIAs ...
Can only hope everyone is well and happy ..
no great achievements here today .. my arthritis has put my back on strike .. can't even bed to pick up the dogs water bowl to fill it, had to use bottled water !!!
Took a Percocet .. no effect .. so .. I'll just wait for it to come out of spasm .. valium at bedtime for me !!!
Take care all ..
HUGS
~M~
Sorry to hear you are hurting so bad "M". Does ice packs or heating pad help any? Maybe a muscle relaxer?
I'm seriously GROSSED-OUT.......... the packers packed a Mouse Trap in our belongings.....
I just emailed the company and told them I will NEVER recommend their packers, Ever!!
Yuk. Was there a mouse in it?
It's hot and humid here. I'm feeling a bit better than usual and have done some gardening. Thinking about what to do with the front garden (the one people see as they drive by) now that we have some money.
Tony is going to the dentist tomorrow morning and isn't sure if he'll make it to work. We're in pretty good shape here so it's no problem.
Spent an hour on the phone/chat line with BofA. I tried to transfer funds last week, got a confirmation email but no funds were sent. Seriously annoying but I think it's straightened out now and I also now know better than to trust their "confirmation" email.
Planted some sunflower seeds a couple of days ago and they are already popping up. At least something likes this hot humid weather. I'm hoping the birds don't find them and have them for a snack.
hugs, katie
Katie - I believe there was.... the poison kills them, and they dry up, but it looks like mouse hair on the outside........ yuck!!!!!!!
Omg Susan, you are having the worse luck!! Yuk is right
"m" so sorry to hear how much pain you are in re arthritis..the humidity taking its toll on old bones as well..Tylenol 3 seems to do the trick for me, takes the edge off..that's some strong meds you take
Glad the neck coolers work and if she wants more just let me know..glad I'm good for something lol
What wonderful news Barb, know you both worry each and every time there are check-ups..did you get to your knitting group?
Katie, good luck with the transfer, truly is annoying...I'm always Leary of e-transfers...wow, I planted sunflowers seeds a few weeks ago, cam just see them poking their heads out..did you come up with something creative for front garden? The fun part of gardens, the creative parts are in the back of my house, I'm about the only one who sees it. Sounds as though all your hard work in the gardens is giving you a show.
How long does it take tony to get to your house on his work days??
Got my perm, hair cut quite short, shopped in town, enjoyed the market, fresh veggies
Cooked ham and chicken this a.m. So I'm now cooking yellow beans, corn and new potatoes so I can make up more TV dinners for mom
I will enjoy feasting on corn and yellow beans though.
Went to get e-6000 glue at Canadian tire, they had a rusted art solar light 'girl'. I set her near the new patio entrance, she looks cute, likely won't light up till tomorrow night, needs charging
There was another one left, I should have bought 2, one for each side of the gate..always tomorrow right...g r I n n I n g!
Tired, early night, just have to finish the TV dinners
Well I am here and all is well. They checked Vern's carotid arteries on the sides of his neck and all is OK there. Did another c scan with dye and he definitely had a stroke. Slurred speech is improving and so in strength in his left hand. They are going to do an echo on his heart tomorrow to study blood flow. After that he will be discharged for rehab. Moving him to a stroke rehab facility about 20 miles away but right next to the freeway so piece of cake.
He is ready to come home but I told him I was not ready. He had to get stronger and I needed to hire someone to help get him showered and dressed in the morning and then come back to help get him to bed. Might even be two different people. So the plan now is rehab for two weeks, but when he will be moved in still up in the air. Weekend so that will probably throw a kink in the amour. H was bitch this morning so to me that i a good sign that he is getting better.
I try to be at the hospital when they deliver the food so I can get his plate together. They brig in the tray and plop it on the table in front of the patient and go away. The patient is in bed, at a weird angle and the silverware is a joke. So I go at lunch and stay for an hour and dinner and stay for 2. He is more interested in watching TV than talking to me so it works out good.
I am having a vodka martini with 3 olives with a glass of ice on the side. First time I sat down all day. The dogs got groomed today but they still got 2 walks.
Tomorrow I will take some clothes for him to wear because he went to the hospital with no shoes and nothing on his lower body but underwear.

Funny story. When I called 911 to report the problem, she asked where Vern was at that very moment. I told her, in the closet. She became alarmed immediately and I told her quickly that it was a very large closet, walk in, probably 10' x 25'. Then when the paramedics got here they asked where the patient was, and I told them he was in the closet. They asked, "Did you tell the person on the phone that", as they were rushing into the bedroom. Then I led them into the closet and they stated, this is not a closet, this is bigger than my bedroom. And we all had a good laugh.
My old garden helper and his helper were here the last to days and did a lot of work. Planted some new summer plants, and cleaned up and trimmed. I had them move the plumeria that were in the courtyard into the back landscape because I never see them in the courtyard. Now it really looks like a tropical paradise.
One of my neighbor stopped by to check on Vern and I knew he loves figs and there are big beautiful ripe figs on the tree so I had the helper pick him a bunch. He ate 4 big ones while I was watching them pick them. He left very happy and after seeing all of the green figs on the tree, he will be back.
I am sitting on ice and with my martini, finally slowing down.
We had a really nice rain yesterday.
i was just watching the news where that doctor told over 500 people they had cancer and treated them for it when they did not have cancer. Sentenced him to 45 years but I hope someone cuts his throat the first week.

ordering Chicago Pizza....... no one else will deliver to this area of the city - too far away and out of their area, this late at night (after 10pm on a Friday)......
omg Sharon - poor Vern & poor you! Funny story though...
And the Dr who treated people for cancer when they didn't have it? omg....... truly unbelievable.........
I copied the above from Back porch because I did not have enough energy to type it again. If it does not make sense, that is because it is answering someone' s question.
Vern had a stroke on Monday but did not know until Tuesday morning. So much for husbands not letting you know what is going on. He thought he was dehydrated.
Sorry for my opinion on the cancer doctor but this guy s scum. I cannot image doing thst to anyone and then putting them through un-necessary chemo.
But you all know me by know Mob finance lady. I was honest, cute and young and from s small mining town. "Naive", . What else could the mob ask for. Heeheeheeeheehee......
Hugs, Sharon
Susan, you two could probably live in our closet.....
yeah, we probably could, if we moved to the states lol
I think the place we're in is about 700 to 800 sq ft? I don't know......
I'm just tired, miserable, and a bit grouchy..... today has been wonderful and awful at the same time. My landlady was really upset at our security system installers because she said their install was setting off her system. They insisted it was not...... I left the house to go get some peace and quiet - did not want to hear arguing....
I tried to be a PollyAnna tonight, but wasn't very good at it for very long
I feel useless......
Well, Susan had a dead mouse today and I had fire ants. Alive - and biting. They were nested in a large pot that holds a citrus tree. Nasty.
Some good news: I called my helper at the IRS. First to tell him that I got a letter from an IRS person in Philadelphia and it looks like all depts. of the IRS now have the message to stop bothering me. I also asked him if he had any suggestions on how to get the IRS to investigate my retirement association. I told him about all my visits with the Board of Supervisors and the three months that the one Sup;s assistant has been waiting for the Acting Director to meet with her. Told him I'm wondering how many other retirees may have been misinformed about their tax status. Also, admitted I'd love to see them raked over the coals after their mistreatment of me. He knows what they did to me and I think he's kind of surprised that I'm not feeling more vindictive (a lot of my not being more angry is that he has been so great). Anyway, he quickly told me of a form I can fill out to report them to be investigated!!! I filled out the form and printed it, adding a one page letter giving some of the highlights of the retirement people's misconduct. I added that they could do a great service and also maybe get some positive publicity for the IRS - something they don't get a lot of.
Tomorrow I'll visit neighbor Barbara and have her read my letter and offer any suggestions. Given how Jim (my IRS man) responded to some of the things I told him, I may get a response.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to sic the dogs of the IRS on the retirement association? Oh, be still, my beating heart.
Sharon, you must take care of yourself.
Even if nothing comes of it, I'm having wonderful fantasies about the IRS vs. retirement. The retirement people are so accustomed to getting away with anything - lies, abuse, blaming the victim, avoidance, you name it - and the IRS people are experts at crushing people like that.
I can dream, can't I? And pray.
hugs, katie
I'll pray right along with you, Katie
Sorry to hear about Vern having a stroke. Glad to hear he is getting treatment.
Terrible Sharon, you have to be there to be sure Vern gets his food. I had the same with my uncle. He was hallucinating because of medication and they put him in restraints. I walked in and his food tray was just brought in and set there in front of him. Food was nearly cold so I knew nobody had come to help him. I raised a bit of hell and made them get him some fresh food and then fed him. At that time they said "Oh we can feed him" and I replied, "yeah like you did before". Made sure that one of us was there for meals after that until he was off those meds.
Morning everyone,
It's a sunshine day in my neighborhood, woke about 2am and realized Missy hadn't come in so went out, she was waiting at the door ...decided to take a walk through the. Gardens, solar lights gave it such an inviting look, almost thought I'd see some fairies, came back in satisfied if the work I put into the garden and slept like a baby.
Sharon, omg you must be terribly worried about Vern but at the same time you can rebuilt your strength for when he comes home..will you have difficulties finding someone to help? How horrid about the doc that was treating for cancer, what hell he put these families through..hard to comprehend
Well if I ever get to Las Vegas I will be sure to look your closet up. Lol lucky you
Bet they did have a good laugh
Lordy Susan, the stress just seems to stay with you, big sigh
Think Karen it's a good thing they send the sick home as quickly as they do for they get much better care at home, sad isn't it..
Let's hope Katie you get somewhere with this investigation form, nice to see someone from irs is willing to help,
Lindakay did you get your roses done, still no aches? I saw a few roses in my gardens, don't do well with roses but looks as though there are some that are strong enough to survive
Out to pick some weeds and thin out some flowers
Yes, roses are done and still no aches. :)
Awesome Linda, so happy for you.
Waving Hi!
The trouble with not checking in for a couple of days is that when you're reading you want to respond to people, but by the time you're finished, you forget who and what!! ={
Anyway, prayers going up for all. I do remember I wanted to tell Sharon to put a little olive juice in her vodka martini. That makes it a Dirty martini and sooooo good!
It's 70 here right now and with all the rain we've been having its unbelievable how many new weeds I have. I have sone perennials that need cut completely down as well, so I best get at it.
Hope today is a good one for all!
Wow, LK! Looks like a rock!
Finished my window gate, put solar light on the 4x4 and bought a garden girl that is solar, lights up a blue/green, pretty at night time
No sooner did the twins next door notice me outside they wanted to know if they could do their craft Sooo into cement we did
Ok because I needed some for support for the large mirror they helped me pick glass for
They just told me that if my dog or cat dried I would have to bury a treat with them or they can't get into heaven. Lol
Think I've made some friends
Too funny, they keep calling me grandma then catch themselves and say betty
They will turn 7 on sept 17th
Tell them they can call you Grandma Betty. That is so sweet, they come out and ask to do crafts!
I love the lady light, but you need to hurry and get the other one before she is gone!
