How long were you there?
Are you doing ok?
Sweet Interruptions: Suite 310
wasthere from Saturday till yesterday. i'm feeling much better and getting ready for a visit from myinlaws. can't gout side in the heat. have to go out early, or at nite.
Glad to hear you're home, and in your own wee bed - so much nicer than hospital beds
Glad you're feeling better too!!!
THANKYOU. IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME
What are they saying is wrong?
the heat. my lungs cant take it
That is not good. Are you on breathing treatments?
JKJ glad you your stay was as short as it was but you prolly felt like it was an eternity. I usually get the nursing home treatment afterwards when I leave the hospital. Five times the longest was 13 weeks the last was 13 days. I told them I needed to go home to get well.
At last some relief from that pounding relentless heat from the sun. supposed to stay in the 60's and I am all for it. Only 3/4 inch of rain for the last 2 months. Not enough to help much. My pot plants need watering twice a day they are mostly geraniums so they can take the heat and dry conditions better than most flowers.
I had a great mid night snack. Tim brought over some fresh hot French fries and onion rings I passed on the fish though, He started the fryer in my shop. The rule is no sawing and frying at the same time lol.
Boil Budget rentals in oil or at least stone them and let their people eat cake
lol Ernie - you had me going for a minute there - talking about your "pot plants"........ thought you were taking medicinal marijuana lol
ewwwww sawing and cooking in the same area? I'm with you, Ernie - not gonna happen!!
It's one of the reasons I'm not cooking nowadays (mostly)...... because my kitchen is a construction zone, with a cabinet on top of the stove, another cabinet smack dab in the middle of the room, and sawdust on the floor. I've sprayed the cabinet top with Lysol disinfectant and used the cabinet, but very rarely. siiiiiigh want to be cooking again. Didn't realize how much I missed washing dishes (I should wash my mouth out with soap for that remark lol).
Well, hopefully by this weekend.....
Oh, and Bob picked up the Corian countertop, and the fella cut us a deal, instead of $75 (I asked him if he'd give it for $65 and he said yes), he told Bob he'd give it to him for $50!! Woo hoooo It's 28 years old, and the homeowners were renovating and couldn't figure out what to do with it - Kijiji.ca lol
Harold says that pieces of Corian can go for $6,000!! nah, really?!?!?!

LOL Susan if I was crazy enough to grow MMJ I would not advertise for fear of attracting characters I would have to shoot as they broke my door down looking for money and rings after they raided my gh. Had one of those types once trying to pick the front door with me inside holding a loaded 12 gauge. He was scared off by a 120 pound Golden who told the guy he would tear him to bits. About half a minute after the dog was snarling a car started and sped off. Called the sherrif and a hour and a half later a car showed up. I did not sleep the rest of the night. It did affect me I hated to sleep at night and slept on the couch close to the front door.
Sell the counter to Harold for 4 thousand and let him sell for 6. Convince him he can't miss lol.
Just had a wonderful BLT it was with lightly toasted potato bread crisp bacon Iceberg lettuce and the most wonderful tomato a heirloom Prudens Purple. Nothing like this san. hope it doesn't make me sick.
lol sell it to Harold.............. indeed!!!!!!!!!!!
My son keeps telling me I should "smoke some pot and chill"........... not gonna happen!! He thinks it would help with my painful knees and my stress levels. I can just see this old granny getting high and the smoke wafting upstairs to our landlord's place......... even the dog (Remy) would get high LOL
nah - we'd be kicked out, f'sure...... and that's something I don't want to happen.
today I'm picking Harold up to hopefully finish the kitchen. He wants to be picked up at 10:30 to get a longer day doing the kitchen.
Well not so good of news for my mom. When she had MRI done in June there were two areas the doctor talked about one he was really concerned about. Well the one we saw yesterday is also concerned about a spot that is higher up more in the base of her skull. So he ordered another MRI and cat scan. He mentioned surgery and it could be risky. I did not like hearing that especially at my mom's age :(
The other area is degenerating disc and there is nothing they can do except give her pain meds which probably won't help a lot. We will be going back on Aug 10th to find out what's what.
I pray you get good news Cindy.
I finally met my new doctor, I think I'm going to like him. He is young and I hope we get along well. He has set up for blood tests for Nov. and wants to see me the end of Nov. My BP was 110/63 which I was happy about, but I've gained 2 or 3 pounds since last Mar. I hope the walking I'm doing with Mandy will keep my weight down. I asked for a handicap card and all I have to do is send the form in to DMV in Sacramento.
It is still too hot for me, hoping some more rain will come my way. Waiting for the B-12 I'm taking to kick in and give me some energy. I talked about magnesium with nurse and she says she is taking it for her headaches and it really helps. I think it is working for my back too.
Your mom is in my prayers too, Cindy. My brother-in-law in Minnesota isn't doing any better, his vitals all are good but stroke has left his brain so scrambled up he does weird things. So hard on my sister and she is afraid they may need to put him in a home as he needs care 24/7. Keep him in prayer too. Her kids help her a lot, but most of the burden is on her and at 84 yrs. old she is at the end of her rope.
Pegi the answer is simple and the truth. He needs to go at 84 she has a hard enough time caring for herself DBL will just drag her down.
I agree. When my Dad had his strokes, it left him as a 5 year old. Mom took care of him for 5 years till she passed. All of us kid took turns for another 6 years, and when he started getting infections in his toes and needed surgery, is when the Dr. Said it was time he went to a nursing home. He hated it for about 4 months, but now he loves it there. It is a major job for anyone to take care of, much less someone her age.
Cindy, prayers go out to your mum and you as well for you sure need strength. She really has only you to rely on, and I don't want you going around like the proverbial chicken without a head.
Pegi, not sounding cruel, but an 84 year old isn't capable of taking on care giving even though she may have help. Prayers go out that whatever Lord's will it will be done.
Hello everyone.
Reading progress on your home Susan, and yes Corian is expensive. Cheaper than marble!
I agree, sell it to Harold. And actually, you may be surprise that I am a proponent of legalised marijuana. Naturally made herb, God creation.. moreover USA can use the sales revenue!
Sis Kathy, wasn't it last year and the year before the heat caused you health problems and you were told to keep off the gardens!!!!
Your lungs aren't young anymore and those coughings and sputtering from lack of oxygen ,, oh sis. When will you decide to heed the doctors? If Marion is here she'd tell you NOT to be stubborn and that we want you around for a long time.
Brother Ernie, I got bacon in the pan.. can you smell it? Got some hot house tomatoes, and avocadoes. That's my late lunch!
LK, I haven't slept at all, that's why you saw the early post.
Didn't go to VBS last night as my back was killing me. Instead, I sewed, and of course more rippings.
It feels good when I got a call from the music leader wanting to know if I'm okay.
Gosh, it's been so long since I felt needed.
Barb, since you introduced me to Mary Ellen's spray, I use only that brand for pressing.
Waving to Karen, Sue and all lurkers.
Heatwave here still. IF we hit 80 I might have to grab a sweater!
Cindy - prayers for you, and your mom - scary times for both of you...
Pegi - is he a yummy young Dr? (thinking of Dr. Kildaire lol aging myself!!)
ah yes, the saga of Susan & Bob's home...... Actually offered to sell the Corian to Harold and he just laughed.........
He said it's more hygienic, doesn't discolour or chip - beautiful stuff - but guess he wouldn't know where to find a market for a particular size of it - 55 x 25". It's exactly the size we need for under the window's cupboard, so............... he didn't have to attach it to the cupboards, so I told him I guess we could take it with us lol
I cleared space on the patio, and brought in the dishwasher, and put it in its place in its permanent home. Bob has to get a cord for it (has a junction box) to plug it into the wall the other junction box past the sink (yes, it's within code to have this type of junction box near the sink).
Bob's going to bring home an 8' countertop to replace the too narrow one he got from Rona (Canadian lumber supply store - like Lowes & Home Depot). Hope he can take the 5' one back - cuz we have to replace a longer one that will be joined to make an L-shaped counter.
One big problem my sister has is that my BIL wants her by his side at all times. She has been his constant companion for 66 years and stubborn man that he is wants her by him at all times. I feel so bad, but nothing I can do but keep him in my prayers.
I have been fighting these gnats in my kitchen and wish I could just spray all over to get rid of them. There seem to be millions of them and I just don't know why they like it here instead of outdoors. They sneak in at every opportunity.
Hey Susan, I won't describe my doctor as yummy like Dr. Kildaire, but is a very nice looking guy. If he is as good as my old doctor I'll be happy.
Pegi there is a product which is safe even in the kitchen and around birds. I'm not sure what it's called now. When it first came out it was put out by Shell and called Shell no pest strip. It's a strip of plastic about 2" wide and 7-8" long. It's yellow and fits inside a cardboard holder. I believe hardware and Home Depot type stores carry them.
They work like a charm, I've had fruit fly infestations and within an hour of hanging it every one was dead. I used them by my parrot cages because their fresh food would attract fruit flies.

Yes, those work fantastically! There's always someone posting on FB on how to use a jar with dishsoap, vinegar and water to attract those fruit gnats. Supposedly they are drawn to the vinegar/acid smell and drown when they hit the water or suds. I have tried that every which way: vinegar, apple cider vinegar, fruit and those little buggars sit on the rim of the jar or on whatever they can find next to it and just look at it. Or maybe they're getting high off the smell. Or maybe they're taking dibs on who's going to go in first... But not once have I found any drowned gnats in the jars. I don't get them very often, mostly when I'm canning or have an overripe banana or peach on the counter. I hate bugs of any type in my kitchen!
I'm pretty particular what goes in my wine! Gnats are not welcome!
Have fun on your CA trip, just hope you don't run into any quakes or anything unnatural while you're there!
Hey Kathy, how are you doing?
Enjoy your trip Sue.
Sue - enjoy your trip!!
Desperately trying to sell the piano - built in 1872, 5 ft long x 27" wide...... surely someone is looking for a piano.............. they can't ALL be downsizing, or wanting ONLY the newest technology........
Good luck finding a new home for your piano.
Maybe someone in a church?
To me the trip for the piano would be worth it, sadly no place to keep it either.
yeah, it's a nice little piano - not that big - only 5 ft x 27"
Good luck on the sale of your piano, Susan. Perhaps you could distribute flyers at music store, and give them a littel commision when sold?
Hey there Kathy Kiz! How are you?
Always have issues with gnats here. But no way I'll share my wine with them! May have to look for what Karen suggest. Next trip to Lowe's.. or maybe the local hardware store has it.
Have a wonderful trip Sue. May mother nature be kind to you there!
It's the last night of VBS. Missed only Wednesday night and yesterday I left early after lending support to kids choir.
I don't want to go tonight, but I don't want to disappoint myself.
Sewed a bit today, back is aggravating me more. I will just have to make Kel get a sheet of plywood for the bed. Or sleep on the floor.
Anyone watch Hell On Wheels? I love the show, just caught in on Netflix. Railroad expansion set after Civil War.
The tunes played are good too. Yes I'm so behind..
Have a fantastic weekend evryone!
Take care of yourself Jaye. I know back problems are not fun.
Thanks for the info Karen. Going to try and find the strip. I also see quick "cures" on facebook Gizmo but never tried them. Just wish the bugs would stay outside where they belong.
My back hasn't given me big problems lately, but just watch out the wrong way I turn! I want to get out and do some cleaning up in front yard but as soon as I get started my back starts complaining.
My son went in for a cat scan today and so far haven't heard anything from disability. I hope that no news is good news. I read where they are going to cut disability payments. If the government would keep their hands out of the social security fund there would still be lots of money in it.
I've been wondering where everyone's been, didn't have this forum bookmarked. Just figured you all were busy with summer stuff!
Looks like the quilt block swap went well! It's been quite a while since we all jumped into a swap. I haven't touched my sewing room except to use the treadmill. lol, I have 4 quilts to make and haven't started a one. I've done some embroidering for some gifts and a few Bella things, but really need to get back to the quilts.
I posted a link to some freebie Christmas quilt patterns over in the Sewing/Quilting threads. Never hurts to look, right????
Nearly finished with another tree skirt, quilting & binding yet to do. Not really crazy about this one but I'm sure someone will like it.
Finding patterns for more QOV squares, I make 6 or 8 between tree skirts & send them in. This week lots of company then making a double QOV presentation next week Friday.
Hi - I'm here, but I'm not......... so tired.
In order to sort stuff around here, we're now unpacking and taking tool bins apart to figure out which Bob wants to keep here and which to store in which storage unit (at our mobile or the storage company).
Also, last night I went to a cooperative meeting for the Mobile park, and it was a gong show. People were out for blood - and the president of the co-op was the intended victim. They wouldn't let him talk and when he tried to defend himself, they said he was unprepared for the meeting and going off topic. I'm glad we had a meeting because we haven't had one since 2009, and we got a proposal from the Board for a potential Park to move to. The Board knew we wouldn't want it and they're right, but had not presented it to us so we didn't know about it. It was financially unfeasible, too far out of town with no way to get into Calgary where we'd have our Dr, grocery etc, and a condo corp, with a 10 year contract that we'd have to go through all over again in 10 years.
Yeah, we voted against it. It was nice to see something to VOTE on.....even if it was a piece of cr**
Hello, Hello? Anyone out there?
Happy Monday! Ha! Getting ready to go out and plant a few things. We finally got a few tomatoes from our garden. Oh my, nothing like a fresh from the vine summer tomatoe! Nothing like it! Yum!
Hope you're all feeling okay and the weather is not being too hard on you....
HELLO lol
Do I hear an echo? :)
Most of the threads are quite. Guess everyone is busy gardening.
I love fresh tomatoes.
oh, not an echo - that would be Brenda lol
I'm not busy gardening - busy getting our place sorted. Today I'm going to set up my computer & printer - need to print off a utility bill to have Ker pay it, for the last place.
I love fresh tomatoes too! You just reminded me - we have tomatoes in the fridge, so I'll have to have a tomato sandwich sometime today :-)
Susan it is a sin to refrigerate a tomato. At least if you are having a Sammy let it warm on the counter prior to making your Sammy.
I always had put my tomatoes in the fridge, but read you shouldn't do that; old habits are hard to break. My tomatoes are slow in turning red, yesterday I picked a small one, two more just starting to turn. We used to put sugar on them when I was a kid, you know back in the old days. I enjoy them now as is, no sugar or salt. I've been dreaming of a grilled cheese & tomato sandwich, may have one today.
Got up early then went back to bed and didn't wake up until after 10. Each day seems to get lazier. Still waiting for my complex B vitamin to kick in and give me this energy everyone talks about.
