(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Happy 4th of July, Everyone!!!

Not a lot going on here, been to hot to work outside.

My mom is not doing well at all, has some severe neck pain and the doctor wouldn't give her an epidual as he was afraid it would cause more damage so we are waiting specialist her appt is not until Aug. 20th but her doctor is sending out another referral and stating it's an emergency....this could be fatal, so I am not handling this to well. Soon I won't have any free time so I have been doing things with my friends and by myself. Took a trip to South Lake Tahoe for some down time. Had my heart broken again....things with Ron didn't go the way I was hoping but we are still friends. The distance is a major part on our relationship and of course my having to take care of mom. Oh well, lol

Happy 4th of July!!
We went to a Stampede BBQ at a community center nearby. Apparently there isn't a Community Center in our new neighbourhood, but there will be.......
Bob's gone to pick up the Kitchen set for our new place, and our friend John is going to help him.
It's great to have friends........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, so sorry to hear about your Mom not doing well. I pray they can get her in sooner than the end of Aug.
Sorry to hear about you and Ron as well.

Susan, sounds like your busy moving again. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Judy, I love those pictures.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, busy moving...... and really annoyed at the moving co. We added the piano move, and wouldn't you know it - they added $150 to the moving costs, then added another mover, which increased it yet again. I will never again use Miracle Movers......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OUCH! I think I would have found someone else!

Morning everyone.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I sent Miracle Movers an email asking about getting our deposit back, etc.
They emailed and phoned today, and said as I've sent them the query, they would like to help. They are only going to charge $89/hour (not $110 or the new charge of $135), and may not charge extra for the piano move. They will determine this when they come to pack on Tuesday. I told them that the last movers came with 3 men, and one just held the door open - I can do that lol Anyway, they normally charge $100 for a piano move and will advise further on Tuesday (fellow yesterday said piano moves are $125, and would give a discount down to $100......).
I told them that, not just them, I've been getting more & more charges every time I turn around and it's getting stressful. I don't need any more stress, that's for sure, and they're going to help as much as they can.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I had a mover show up one time and then walk out because he said I never told him about a 3 drawer file cabinet.(It is part of my computer desk...which I had showed him) Talk about stress..finding a new mover when you are supposed to be out in hours.....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Big ouch!!! Everything is expensive in Calgary. Susan, I hope you don't plan to retire with the cost of living at least triple here.
But then, your social program is much more generous than ours.

Brother Ernie, they are quilt blocks for a swap here on DG. Talking of quilts, please show some of Linda's quilts!!
And no, I don't intend to sew any silk shirts for Kel, maybe some old canvas underwear!! Lolol.
Never had homemade raspberry jam.. but I did managed to get some cherries on sale for 2 bucks a pound!!

Hope everyone has a great Fourth. I celebrated it wearing a USA tshirt. Cooked some fried pork chops and mashed potatoes. That's as American as hotdogs and apple pie~

Sis Kathy, call the cops before you decide to do something you'd regret. Your neighbours are getting expensive, and the money could have gone to a new swimming pool.

Cindy, I am sorry to read of your mum's condition. Will add her to my prayers.
God will reward you for giving your time to your mum.

Karen, I am so proud of you. Presenting a QOV quilt is such a great honor. You had said that they can't find anyone else, I think that's planned by the Lord!

Sistah Judy, Chef Boy R Jake? Lolol. That's cute. Congratulations Jake, Now you have to build up an impressive resume so you could be one of those big liners' chef. Or an international hotel chain, like the Hyatt. Make big bucks for sure.
Aww Liz sure looks happy. Not a fun of the Cubs, sorry Liz but I am glad you had a good reunion with Judy there

Sunshine, you have aged like Audrey Hepburn. Retained that youthful look!!

Thank you for posting the pictures. I looked at them last night, but can't post anything for I really missed the warmth of my sistahs at gatherings. Just cried ..

Pegi, sending huge hugs.. enjoy your family's visit.

Another scorching day today. No triples tho' but high humidity.

LK, is the humidity bad in Del Rio? Ours is bad enoughthat you don't need moisturizers!

At least none of us are living in Arizona!

Waving to Karen, Sue (rest, rest, rest), Barb and all the faithful lurkers.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Humidity is 55% here. Temp is 91, but it feels like 100.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Jaye, it wasn't that they didn't have any one else, they did but she lives way down state. What was a 1 hour drive for me would have been 4 for her. Had I not turned up, she would have made the drive. I will drive and present any within my power to do so. It's important our Veterans are recognized.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

well, Mike did it again - he cut the coax cable outside our place, so we had no tv/internet/phone....
We called the police and Mike said it was because we didn't pay our rent and Ker charged him our rent as well as his....... not true - Ker charged him for the main floor full month - for 1 week in basement & 3 weeks in main should be $1100, but he charged him $1200 for full month upstairs. Bob saw Ker today at work, and Ker didn't say anything to him, except to respond about a work-related schedule. Ker didn't ask for any rent - and Bob's not paying him any if he doesn't ask......... Ker still owes Bob $243 for utilities, and Mike owes $120 for 1 mo of TV / Internet. So, I suppose this is Ker's way of paying for the utilities........ swallowing the cost, I guess.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I bet you are both glad you are moving out?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We are almost officially OUT - slept here ever since Sunday when Mike cut our service - packers came today, Telus has hooked us up with internet, tv & phone, Grace & Robert have moved their extra furniture out, and made the patio free for us to put our stuff on. I caught myself singing today - I'm so happy.
tomorrow @ 9am the movers come, and at 5pm the electrician friend of ours (Marcel) and a fellow electrician are coming to hook up our washer, dryer, dishwasher, and Grace & Robert will hook up the water!

Bob's just gone to take John (who helped get the washer & dryer here) home, then will go get stuff that's loose and not in a box to bring here, our new home.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I bet that is a big relief!

Comp died. Borrowing an iPad. Will Mia for awhile

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope you get it fixed soon!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mike just flipped the breaker on our security system (I got an email letting me know) - I'm on the phone with ADT right now, and Bob's on his way to meet the police at the old address............
takes half hour to get there....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What a messed up person.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

he sure is....
I tried calling Grace & Robert, so I can sit with someone while Bob's on the way there, until I know what's happening. Bob likely has his phone on vibrate or something, cuz he's not answering and his phone is on........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't understand why the police don't arrest him for malicious destruction?
Did Bob make it home OK?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hoping all is well in Calgary!!!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob got home, safe & sound. Right after the police got there, our power was restored. Apparently he cut the power to the entire suite (via breakers). The police didn't lay charges, and neither did ADT. I asked ADT about it, and they said the police would have to lay the charges (I suppose if we requested them to).
And Mike wants to lay charges on US, for a missing dryer!!!!! He called Ker & told him this. First of all, the building and all appliances belong to Ker, not Mike - Ker isn't worried about any appliances other than the fridge & stove. He said, to keep the peace, that we should replace the dryer, and we found one for $40 lol Ker now, after hearing the whole story from Bob & Mike's version of his truth, says he will "look after Mike". Bob says that it's not a good thing for Mike that Ker is saying this - Ker's form of justice is going to make Mike's life hell............ lol This is not our problem, but does not bode well for Mike.
Marcel & co are coming over soon to work on our electricals, and Marcel will finish it off tomorrow night. Bob's going over to the old place, with John, and will bring the rest of our stuff here.... not sure where we're going to put ANYTHING.......... it's floor to ceiling as it is....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello all.

So sorry you had to face satan's works just to restore harmony in your life, Susan.
Karma will find its way to Mike and Ker. Yes, Ker too for not having the kahoonas to stand by you. You shouldn't be the one getting the replacement dryer.
And yes, I agree with LK. Mike should be hauled off to the police after admitting the malicious vandalism.

I have been busy trying to sew and it seems the devil also has an interest in my quilting!!

Prayers for all, and know that I love all my sisters and big brother Ernie.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I pray that you will have peace and quiet to get your sewing done.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - the police won't charge him, it has to be us. Ker says he will "take care of Mike", but he isn't doing it fast enough..... it took us moving out and Bob telling him about the newest stuff Mike did, for him to realize just how bad a tenant Mike is.
Well, at least we have a quiet home now. And Marcel has almost finished the re-wiring - one more day of stuff, and he'll be done. Now........ the plumbing. Grace & Robert think they can do it, and everyone says that Bob should be able to do the kitchen cabinetry......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't forget that Joy has the old, new borrowed and blue swap open.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the prayers LK. Now I need to get a new iron!!!!
Got to make an out of town trip for one. Sigh...

Well Susan, Mike is history, thank God. Hope you've settled in nicely.

A scorching day today and I do hope the ac to the truck will co operate. If not the drive will be hell!

Hope everyone here is doing fine. Love to all..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

smirk - settled in? not by half.......... and Bob has 2 more trips to make to bring stuff back. Still have our computer desk, and some other stuff.
Handing keys to Ker tomorrow morning. THEN we'll be done with that house & Mike.
Also, tonight at 5, ADT comes to install the security system, and between 4-5 Marcel comes to finish the last of the wiring for the dishwasher, etc.
AND, we have a 25 yr veteran of cabinet installation come to help Bob install the kitchen cabinets tomorrow morning - Bob will pick him up at 10am - he lives pretty close to us, and will do it for free. There is a website that I went to "Albertans helping Albertans - free", and he will help us!!!!
Life is getting better all the time!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please drive safely Jaye.

Susan, it is nice to get the free help you need!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm seriously Grossed Out......... the packers packed a Mouse Trap! I just emailed the company and told them I would Never recommend their company - Ever!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ewwww!!!! That's not something you wish to see Susan!!

Good morning everyone! It was 103 yesterday, shown on a bank's lcd screen. I had to turn around just to make sure my good eye isn't deceiving!
Today it's supposed to be 100. Thank the Lord both ac/s are working.

You all stay cool. I am here if anyone needs. :D

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, you are hotter than I am in Texas. We hit 98 yesterday.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Just checking in. It's 69 here right now. Not really July weather for Ohio for sure!

Some of our corn is starting to tassel and it's only about 3 ft. tall. I don't suppose that bodes well at all.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I just hope it doesn't get into the triple digits here. It is hot enough for me in the 80's.

Went to a seminar on scams at the senior center yesterday, very interesting. I learned a few things, just hope all that info stays in my head. I get calls from some jerk that keeps telling me that something is wrong with my computer. At times telling me that it is sending out signals. Called just the other day again and I told him he he was trying to scam me and then he quickly hung up. None of them know what "NO" means.

My tomatoes are still green, and I have 1 egg plant that is huge but so far producing nothing. My son planted 2 zucchini plants in back and 1 in the front yard and I hope I get some decent ones this year.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I get those scam calls too, I just hang up on them!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Cookie, I'm afraid your corn would end up in your compost bin!!
Give me some of that coolness. Got a terrible headache from the heat.

Good for you Pegi!! These scammers really have no morals! I too get calls, and sometimes their number doesn't show.. thinking it's overseas calls, I'd pick up only to get disgusted and hung up before they can finish their sales pitch!
Another year of no veges here. Would love to have an eggplant. One I planted was only 2 ft. tall when it made a fruit. The poor eggplant grew dragging along the ground!!
I normally pick them before they get too big. Sweeter that way.

Yeah LK, Lord has the wrong address!!! Lolol... can I resend the heat to you?
