Sweet Interruptions: Suite 310

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those fresh cherries sound good. Wish we had cherries trees down here. We have peaches that grow on the east side of the state, but not much fruit grows down here, other than oranges and grapefruit.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It's a trade off Linda, we can't grow the citrus fruits.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

How are you feeling, Karen?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm OK. I get impatient but it doesn't do me a bit of good. LOL I'm told it'll take a year before it is really better.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hang in the Karen, that year is almost half gone.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Ernie, I could wish you happy birthday on the 26th of each month as I'm bound to get it right then.

Already I see some people watering their lawns on the wrong day and washing off their driveways which is really a bad thing. Can't remember when I had a green grass, but I've got lots of green tomatoes on my one plant and I make sure that it gets watered.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm hanging Linda. As long as I can still sew, I'll make it. I'm getting close to done with the tree skirts but have joined the QOV-Stars site and am quite excited about that. I like that there is no pressure to send so many blocks and the design is our choice of stars in RW&B. Also we can nominate vets of our choice to receive a quilt.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Yes I like the idea of the birthday being every month but won't you get tired of having to wrap and post my present every month.

Another sunny day here. I am in good shape for water. I have my own well and for 42 years it has never failed the pump has how ever. Some on the water associations who are now being hit with high bills and can't water their lawns or wash cars they are crying and want people with wells to adhere to the same rules. I for one will continue to use the water I need. Those people can just move back to town where they came from.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is very smart for having your own well Ernie.

Karen, enjoy making those patriotic blocks. Post pictures of them when you get them done.

Pegi, when San Antonio has strict water restrictions, and others see people abusing the water, they have a special number to call, and when they find the abuser, the person that called gets a small reward. Like $50.00

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

back home from camping
Great relaxing time - did forget to bring my epilepsy meds, and from Saturday to Tues was ok, but because we happened to have a friend in the campground who was there at the same time and I was not feeling well on Tues, Colin took Bob as far as the nearest Safeway Pharmacy and they got my Safeway Pharmacy to fax over my info and he got 10 days worth of my meds. Feeling fine now :-)
Met a lovely couple who want to rent their basement suite to us - they live in the upstairs. They joined us one evening from their camper - bringing dinner. They want us to come view the suite tonight.
OUR tenant came over and sat on the deck, to show someone was home and the place was being watched. He said that he has suggested to his wife to take in more kids to babysit, and that he is going to suggest to her that I would be perfect to work with her, as a more experienced (read - older) person to help. And he says he knows that I miss my neighbourhood......... (ain't that the truth).
Mike (basement tenant), obviously switched the breaker off on our fridge - came home to have to throw out all our frozen veggies, a pkg of meat, ice cream, and anything in the fridge that could go bad..... about $60 worth. Bob's going to talk to Ker about it.
Colin took us to the Upper Kananaskis Lakes - BEAUTIFUL area - he's a good friend - has been since we met during the "camping" flood of 2013 when we got cut off from Calgary, then airlifted in by helicopter lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope you had a good relaxing vacation Susan! Not a good thing to forget your meds, but glad to hear you were able to get some for a few days.
Lets pray the basement suite is just what you need!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I forgot the memory stick for my camera and books, and my e-reader too...........
so all I could do, when my knees wouldn't allow me to do much, was to watch DVDs. It was HOT there....... good thing we were in a forest...... but our campsite was pretty sunny....... :-)
We did enjoy ourselves, though!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

If he turned off the breaker, that's vandalism.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

prove it, Karen. All we know if the food was all ruined, and it was "cold" when we arrived.
There was blood from thawed meat in the freezer compartment, and water in the lower drawers. We had to throw it all out.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

That was my thought, too, Susan. You know he's going to deny it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I know the problem Susan, He can just say there was a power outage.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

we have to move in 2 weeks........... my decision

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Good for you

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, cancelling the utilities - asking Ker to collect $200 for them, we shouldn't have to chase Mike for it.............
Now, to find storage for our stuff - so we can move into an 850 sq place......... with the stuff for a 1200 sq home........... and have to find a moving company

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are moving Susan. Just wish it was a little bigger for you.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I phoned our neighbours (in the Park) and they told me about a storage company that doesn't required a credit card, will only charge us their promotional fee the first month ($23), and $149 afterwards, with no contract - month by month!! hooray! Nice to get some good news after all the cr** we've been going through - Bless Public Storage........... they are awesome!!
So, Public Storage is holding a 5' x 10' unit for us and we'll store our piano, dining table and several (LOTS) boxes there, whatever we can of tools at our mobile, and Bob will have to get going on the kitchen at our new HOME....... oh, it's lovely (other than the kitchen which is not usable at the moment) - great big living room which will have to double as our computer room, nice sized bedroom, and bathroom - all new with a shower stall. I'll just get used to taking showers instead of baths. The living room leads out to a lovely little yard. We'll have to empty their 10'x10' storage shed and help them put shelves in it - so much unusable space when you're only using the bottom 7' of a 12ft high shed......
I'm happier than I thought I could be today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! Your storage units are expensive. They charge $50.00 a month for that size here. Glad to hear you have a place to move into.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

everything is more expensive here in Calgary.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Happy to hear Susan is happier right now. All the headaches they have been through it is time for her & Bob to be able to settle down to a "normal" schedule. Whatever normal is any way.

Tomorrow family is getting together for lots of visiting time. My sister's kids are here from New York and enjoying the time. She is a great hostess and is enjoying having her grandkids around. It has been years since her son and family have been able to visit. Better make sure I have fresh batteries in my camera.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good day ladies.

Pegi, how long has it been since you've seen your nieces/nephews ? Enjoy those picture taking momenta!

Susan, what a creep~that Mike is... and Ker too!! I am happy to read you have found a home, and I hope you won't have neighbours like Mike.

Karen, your treeskirt as posted on FB is simply stunning! You must be the number one idol to those lucky enough to receive such painstaking handmade treasures.

Brother Ernie, I will post my cell phone number soon. I don't remember what it is, and thank heavens the phone is working still.
Cherries here cost a fortune. Another luxury I can do without. But, I get free blueberries from my small bushes. :D

Have you finished all the blocks LK? Not me, I have to recut more as a few were hauled off by two new kitties without my permission!! How dare they do that. The older ones, would not try to mess with any work that I am doing.. but.. when my back was turned, there goes Barb's Thimbleberry pieces and I'm not going to reuse them as they had chewed on them!!

Lolol.. Barb, don't worry sister. You'll get fresh cut clean fabrics.

Sue, it's close to the gathering time. Truly regret that I cannot make it. Give Cookie and Sister Judy hugs for me.

Cookie, I am asking you to do the same, hug Sue for me please. Had you heard from Sis Kathy? WHether she has returned?

Today, my doctor's appt. is cancelled, so I am still on the same strength Prozac which is barely working for me.

Hugs and love to all..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have most of hem cut, just need to stitch them together, they should be done tomorrow.

Jaye, the gathering was last week end.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Darn.. I am so out of touch with reality LK.
Thanks..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah Jaye - they're both creeps, and both Bob & I are truly happy to be OUT of here. Moving July 8th, and the packers will come on July 7th.'
Mike is getting rewarded for bad behaviour, but I don't CARE lol
and I gather someone is taking over the utility payments. The amount that we are owed for June hasn't been paid to us yet. I have to print out the bill, so Ker will pay the 60% of the $406.21

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We had some thunder and I believe 60 or 70 rain drops this time. I just wish it would come down in a steady stream. Very cool breeze so I am enjoying that.

Jaye, John was a baby in a stroller when last I see him, he is now 11 and Reagan is 9. My sister, their grandma, has visited them in New York a few times over the years and sends them great gifts all the time. They are so lucky to have such a generous grandma. Kids are very spoiled. Both of them are avid readers and top A students. I'm sure Grace and David are proud of that. Really looking forward to visiting them.

I have a white plumeria blooming, no leaves on the plant. The 3 beautiful blooms on my epi didn't last long, so sad as they were a beautiful dark pink color. The 99 cent store threw out boxes of bulbs and a friend of a friend brought them all home. Don't know if they will grow, but most say to plant in the fall after the last frost. I don't know what frost is any more. Something to play around with later on.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I would plant them now, it can't hurt.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I would put them in the freezer till Fall. The problem with planting them now is the plants won't have time to feed the bulb before it stops growing. Soyou end up with a poor perfomer. Why not plant half and freeze half then both bases are covered. I have planted daffiolds way late in march and gotten pretty daffies in july so I know you can cheat the planting date some . Good luck

Susan good for you moving but if I were you I would flush a bag of cement down the toilet. Have the power turned off let them pay to reconnect. Sign him up for every ad you can find if you do it enough you will clog his mail box. Fairs are a great place to get ads they have those little scams for you to enter a drawing. LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Ernie - all good suggestions lol
Already called the power company, and they won't disconnect - they'll take it off my acc't, but will wait for the "new" ac't holder to phone in to put their name on the acc't. Power company can afford to wait........ wish I had their $$ lol
We can't do damage here - not only can't we, because of our conscience, but Bob works with the owner of this property, which is how we found out it needed to be rented......... he asked us to rent here. There will be no repercussions by the owner - Bob spoke to the GM about this horrible situation, so he's aware of it. I just hope no one else in the company gets sucked in by him using the company as a tenant search...........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone. It's been one of those weeks.

Wishing all a great fourth of July.
Nothing going on here. Trying to sew.

Very quiet here too Jaye. We don't travel on the major holidays - too many idiots on the roads up here in a hurry to go nowhere!!!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Glad we came home a day early, still heave traffic but I know it's worse today.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I am trying to plow through this weekend in a peaceful way. Tomorrow marks the first anniversary Darwin has left us, emotions are going a little wacky but I'm planning on putting some of those bulbs in the freezer as Ernie suggested and see what happens with them. My friend has boxes of all these bulbs in her garage. I guess I should put the tulip bulbs in the freezer, really some pretty ones. At this rate I'll never run out of bulbs. The 99 cent tomato plant I bought is doing well, full of green tomatoes. My son is doing a good job of caring for them. I just go out and see how big they are getting. Of course, I'm the one who has to take care of the flowers.

Hugs Pegi, knowing this will be a hard spell for you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jaye. How are you?

I am still in San Antonio. I will be back home tomorrow. I spent the day with my granddaughter. We got pedicures, went to see jurassic park in 3D, and went to an aquarium. I really enjoyed the time with her.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye and a happy fourth to you to. What are you sewing?I hope not a silk shirt for your BH and that's not big hunk.

We are in the process of making raspberry jam and deep frying some chicken wings. Will have some wonderful garden cauliflower and some boiled baby potatoes that will be dinner. It is so hot we are not really hungry.
