Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friend old/new

mulege, Mexico

Hearing is/was in Texas. I have nothing in writing from the San Diego people. They seem very competent but I will be twitchy until I get something in writing.

Lost five pounds this morning (!) and my left wrist has gone bad - cannot hold a cup of coffee.

Holding on to house money in case something goes wrong and needs to be dealt with on an emergency basis.

Meanwhile, my mind - or what's left of it - is organizing Retirement mistakes to present to anyone who might listen. News people, politicians, at this point a terrorist might start looking good.

Tony was here seven days a week while I was gone, freeing me from worrying about the dogs, plants and house so I was able to focus on problems in the US. We spoil each other.

hugs, katie

Yiker doodles .. $90. for the blood test .. $200. for the Shingles shot .. gonna haveta get me a job!!
Jean, thanks for the link, much appreciated ..
Still haven't heard from the hospital, in fact, with your info, I likely know more than they do ..

It has snowed all day .. grey, and crummy .. made more dog biscuits ..

Take care Katie. Hope the wrist is nothing more serious than fatigue. Fingers crossed on the tax Court.

Too welcome M. Sorry it is all so expensive. Some private insurers do cover the shingles vaccine, but it is still considered "elective" by many. I figured it can't hurt to have as much info as possible.

These folks will sell the test kit for $149

www.accesalabs.com/tb?gclid=CLLSjrKD6sQCFQoNaQodOIEAHA

And I do not know if you could have the test done Stateside, but if you are closer to some Michigan cities, then perhaps this link would be useful.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow - yeah, $90 is a lot, and $149 is even more (better than $200 for Shingles, though)!!

Katie - had to laugh when I saw "at this point a terrorist might start looking good." LOL
Yes, I know, it's not a laughing matter, but you have your funny bone screwed on tight lol
I will pray that the Gov't sees this as not your fault, and that it's all resolved to your betterment.
Ouch on the wrist!! Take care, please!

Jean, you're an absolute fount of information - thank you for all you find out for all of us here!!
Hope your hand heals quickly :-)

I have tried to get a wrap for my knee, but they don't make one big enough....... is the splint different? Even the X-Large isn't big enough, of the wraps.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

"M" Does insurance cover any of the lab work, or vaccinations?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all
At Tennessee border, just checked in, going for eats and will be backs

Lordy so much construction AND traffic near Atlanta, add in a few accidents in the mix (not us) lol but really about1 1/2 hr delay..we still made good time

Back to chat in a bit

2 kitties, not a sound out of them, lay on aperch Dar made and happy as can be

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'll be talking to Susan tonight and will ask her about the construction and accidents (whether it affects her drive to & from work). She's been at work for 7 hours by now, so I'm sure she's not in the accident "mix". She'd have let me know, anyway.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Susan. What kind of a wrap are you looking for?

The Masters golf Tournament is going on in August, Ga Betty. That is just a couple hours from Atlanta and a really big deal...some folks drive back and forth to watch the players. Y'all be careful.

My Dr's office called today, actually his nurse, not the office...grin. She was calling to remind me to remove the surgical bandage, and to see how things looked. (Okay, a little swollen but healing)
Thanks for the good, healing thoughts. But, mostly to remind me "No dirt, sweat, water or pets and nothing heavier than a newspaper."

The left hand has been released...grin it was just wrapped to keep it still for a couple days so the second round of cortisone got a chance to work.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like your hands are healing good? How long before you can use them?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

This wasn't a wrap, per se - more like a slide on tensor (They're blue, with an "bend hole" at the front of the knee), and as they're made in China I guess they're smaller made than for we Canadians?!?!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Dr said We would see when the stitches come out on the 20th, Linda Kay. I will be bouncing off the walls by then...grin,

Susan, this adjustable support is available there in Calgary. 1st link is the brace, 2nd where to find it. If I remember correctly it runs less than $30

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Got a bunch of hugs from all my loves in TN. Will be back with them soon but we are now in NC. Will be talking to family in VA & WV to set up days we are going to visit next week. It's WARM!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy, watching news, sohooeyouwere all out of harms way re tornado
Hugs

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Not sure who was near the tornado, but, happy all is well .. think it was erhaps Betty and Karen ?

Susan .. Lorna has had several braces/wraps, the ones at Shoppers fit VERY snug, so, she went to an Orthopedic supply store .. you pay a bit more, BUT, the staff ensure the fit is right for you .. the blue neoprene ones just don't cut it, at least for Lorna ..

Betty, you're flying with those kitties :-)
Take good care .. hope the weather holds for you as you head north.

Jean .. best of luck with your hands, has to be so difficult for you NOT to 'be bad' LoL, actually, I think it'd be 'force of habit' that would cause a slip up ...

DGS, Austin's 14th BDay today, having it announced on the radio .. should be soon, have it running on this laptop, find it kind of annoying as the station is a ROCK station .. I'll survive .. now, just to survive the pay evening with the OUTLAWS .. aka, DinL and her family .. doing it for Austin ..

Best grab a coffee

Drive safe Betty. Are you meeting up with Debbie?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, I hope your having a good time on your cruise, I just heard Illinois has had bad weather with a tornado. I pray your home is OK!

Lyndonville, NY

Are you staying over night in Buffalo, or just passing thru?

I have my follow up at Cardio today. A bit nervous for results.

I think that Tornado was near Bev & also Judy, depneding path it took,
a wide one for sure.

Stay safe everyone

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Susan, the one I linked does not slip on, it wraps around and closes with velcro, hence making it adjustable. It ranges from 33cm to 44.5cm (13 to 17.5 inches). Sorry it didn't work.

Yes, M, it is everyday "mindless" movements that are the greatest challenge. Pets, (3 cats and 2 dogs) water(washing my hands and rinsing dishes) and picking up things (vacuum cleaner, broom, laundry basket)...the little things...grin

I can empathize with you on outlaws...just keep thinking when he is grown he will appreciate your constraint and how much you love him.

Stay safe Betty. My friend in Buffalo says they are having winds up to 50 MPH.

The tornado was west of Chicago in Fairdale, Judy is just north of Chicago in Glenview.

The winds in Buffalo are horrific!!! Driving home I had a wires and tree branches come down right before me. About 3 cars & I hit the brakes so fast. Tree limbs down everywhere and power outtages.

Stay safe.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow, re: tornadoes, wind & rain!! Keep safe, everyone!

Jean, as Marilynne said - they were the blue neoprene ones, so maybe the one you showed the link to is different?
I'm going to check to see if Bob's company covers the cost if I go to an Orthopaedic dr.

Debbie - waiting with you for results..... hope all is as you wish/need it.

Lyndonville, NY

I'm at pharmacy picking up some meds.

I am a mess. :/ Like we didn't know that.

Weill update when I am not on the little phone. Hugs.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

What are the results?
No, I've never thought you are/were a mess......... you're a beautiful lady, inside and out :-)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Jeepers .. fingers crossed that Betty and Darlene make it to Buffalo unscathed .. quite the welcome home !!

Debbie .. now that you have some info, at least you can make a plan of sorts ?

Jean .. I always think of the time I got a paper cut on my thumb (right) .. got it at work, on midnights, as paper cuts go, this one was a dandy .. but, I wore gloves at work and all was good, went home, went to bed, got up a few hours later and zombied into the shower, turned on the tap, went to test the water, and, J O L T !!!!!!!! HELLO, I was way awake .. man did that thumb scream at me .. as I said, you'll be counting the hours til the appt on the 20th ..

Was cleaning one of the ceiling fans in the kitchen today .. it's about 18 years old .. well .. I did 'Something' .. fuse is blown, no idea which one, checked them ALL ... I think the fan has had it and just blew up (quietly)
DH is out, I called him and we'll be going to town tomorrow to purchase a new one ..

Enjoy Your evening ..

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I always feel so bad when something we have had for years decides to give up the ghost when I touch it....I always feel like I "killed" it. Unfortunately the things I don't like seem to last forever...
grin

Yeah, paper cuts are insidiously sneaky...and painful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all

One heck of a long day

Drove 4 hrs in torrential rain then Ohio winds, then Pennsylvania and N.y. Wondered if the winds would pick the car up

Got to Buffalo, who would have thunk its army cadet week and every hotel is filled with your American Pride and their families

Luckily they know me at one of the hotels (Motel 6) almost had to cry for them to fit us in a room, add having kitties well let's just say I was thrilled I didn't have to drive home, another 3-4 hrs

Thought I was coming down with something, yep, neuralgia, talk about sick
Running a fever, major headache, teeth paining and I've no teeth, sneeze and about scream for pain in my head

picked up eats at timmies, got in and didn't want it, had a hot bath, took meds and am ready to call it a night

Glad everyone is ok, hope Karen,Bev and Judy are ok and that everyone else are coping..
So glad Debbie you posted, waiting for upday
Jean, you are behaving yourself thus seeing improvement, before you know it you will be playing in the dirt.

So want to chat with all of you but no can do

Tomorrow when I get home

Debbie, hoping to be out of here really early, get home, get to bed, soooo looking forward to my own

Hope Judy checks in soon. I may give her a call to see if things are ok. ?
Debbie your not a mess.Wonderful lady.
we did have a wicked storm last night. Kids came down and went to the basement. Savannah is not a fan of storms.
Tom is here for the weekend.
Went to grocery store.... oh my i stocked up... and i still forgot milk LOL

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I did get a good night sleep and I got up early. And when I came out dressed and hair curled, I opened the black out shades so Vern could see the sunshine and the beautiful day. So by 11am I had fed Vern his breakfast and the animals fed and I hit the back landscape.

And I remained there for the next 5 hours. i cleaned out under the BBQ, 3 doors on the island and found a varmet nest in the first one. A bunch of shredded paper. The landscape guys had come by to move 2 bales of Happy Frog into the back area for me so they put on latex gloves and helped me clean out the mess and out it into the garbage for me. Then I got out my shop vac and garden hose with sprayer and cleaned out the whole underside of the BBQ. Then I cleaned the top area of the BBQ. Then I cleaned the KOI pond which included back washing twice and stirring up the debris on the bottom and continuous skimming. Then I sprayed down all the boulders on the KOI pond and then used the blower and moved all of the leaves and debris into a pile just the side of the KOI pond near the grass area. Then proceeded to clean up the debris I had blown in and the debris that was already blown in my Mother Nature. Then I trimmed all of the plants and refreshed by opening up the soil in the pots. Tomorrow I am going to clean up the wind debris in the front landscape.

So 1/2 half of the back landscape is clean and looks great. The dogs spent the majority of the day outside with me except when I was blowing the debris around. They are both crashed and have been for hours. I have another day in the landscape planned for tomorrow. Vern has the Masters to watch so he is happy.

Yes Betty, I have French Doors, not big windows across the back of my home. Five total along with a big window in the master bedroom and the kitchen.

I saw the tornado on TV. It was really scary watching it on TV. I cannot image what it would be like being in one.

I actually copied some of what I posted on Back Porch.

I will check in on Sunday. I do not garden on Sunday. A request from Vern many years ago. I have a few Masterpiece shows to catch up on and Vern can watch the Masters.

You all need to take care of yourselves. I went to PT Thursday and feel great. Keep your fingers crossed how I will feel tomorrow. Hugs, Sharon

Just leaving, gab when I get in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sue, Judy is on her cruise, I think she said they get home on the 12th?

Sharon, sounds like you have a huge yard! Would love to see pictures when you can?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

As always Betty, don't know how you do what you do, and, I am hoping that the trip home is totally uneventful and that you haven't sent your health backwards.
Sounds as though yesterdays trip was filled with bad weather.
Sue, is Savannah OK?

Supposed to hit 60F here today .. we'll see .. I was happy to have dried a huge line full of laundry outside yesterday .. to me, that means SPRING is here ..

Jean ,, only 9 more days til freedom :-)

LindaK, how are the roses, and, how's your hip/back .. you see the doc soon ..

BDay party for DGS this evening, absolutely dreading it .. have NADDA in common with our DinL parents .. and, her brother and sister are just plain strange .. both in their 30s, unmarried and over educated, but, oblivious to REAL life ..
Keep telling myself we are going for Austin .. which we are ..

May get out and do some clean up .. Sharon, we still have SNOW in large patches, but, can still rake some grass and , like you, pick up debris ..

Best mosey

ENjoy your day

~M~
