Morning everyone!
Betty, are you sleeping in, or off and running somewhere?
Morning
Just got in, went to Cape Coral to the fabric shop then a bit more shopping..Darlene is packing and cleaning so it was best I was off
Decided to go to the beach tomorrow as its hot and I need a day off as the wind/sun did a number on me..not sore, just don't want to push my luck then peel
Got another bag patter, can use it more like a purse, some batiques, few tools
Anxious to get home so I can play lol
Rita/suspzanne/greg all emailed to say all is ok in the house
Next door neighbor used his mini backhoe and dug a trench, Rita said lots of run off so let's hope, I'll have to get it finished when I get home
Girls are there sewing today so that's good
Glad your home is safe from floods, Betty!
I have a jelly roll - all greens & blues - that I'm going to make a baby quilt from, but it has 4 fabrics and the pattern I have calls for 3 - trying to make it work, but getting confused. Pattern says it's suitable for a brand new beginner lol Tough when you're trying to fit 4 colours into 3, and one is supposed to be a neutral, another tan, and the 3rd a "baby colour". Need 10, 10, and 16, but have 13 of each colour LOL
I'll figure it out after I get home from a filling at the dentist's!
Anyone who was able to configure those borders Susan am sure will have no trouble figuring the baby quilt!what is the ame of the pattern
Was 94 this afternoon so decided to do more shopping, did I tell you I'm tired of shopping? Seems that is all I've done since before Xmas.that being said bought a few nice pairs of sandals
Not sure what we will do for supper..I wanted to pick up Chinese, we will see
Good to hear all is well at your home Betty .. SHEESH 94F .. I'd be ill LoL
Went to my dermatologist today, he Okayed me to go on 'Stelara' quite an expensive proposition .. $27,000./year !! I about fell off the examining table !!
BUT (always that BUT) .. since I have a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis, and have exhibited ongoing bone damage .. it will be covered .. now, the caveat ..
I need to had a blood test called 'QUANTIFERON-gold' .. I said OK .. he gave me the lab slip, and, as Gordon and I are going to see his opthamologist tomorrow, I called and made an apt with the lab .. GOOD THING .. they had NEVER heard of the test, I was speechless ... the doc who ordered it is NOT unknown, he is , in fact, the only dermatologist we have here .. the lab suggested I phone the local hospital, which I did .. took the tech forever to find the test on the computer, and, SHE was baffled, said she would call me tomorrow with an update ..
As well .. I have to check on my Immunizations, and, I HAVE to have the Shingles shot !
Me who is NOT a fan of injections etc, is going to be a pin cushion .. the Stellara is by injection as well ..
AND, so it goes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
~M~
it's called Double Single Irish Chain (Baby) quilt.
here's the picture.
I have 10 dark blue patterned (takes place of "baby" colour), 10 medium blue patterned (takes place of "tan"), 8 pale green, 8 granny smith apple green (the 2 green make up the 16 for the neutral)
(I actually have 13 of each fabric, but the pattern calls for what I stated above).
My brain just is not making sense of this 3 colour quilt, when I have 4 colours.
Maybe I'll just pick a different pattern........
Well, went to the dentist, they froze my upper & lower on left side then couldn't do anything cuz I was feeling woozy and shaky.... so here I am at home, 3 hours later and the freezing is almost out.... tried to drink a cup of tea lol talk about drool-city !!!! I had to wait until the tea was almost cold for fear of scalding myself.
oh Marilynne - a pin cushion, indeed!!
Glad to hear you're not going to have to pay for the treatment! Holy Wow, what a cost!!!
That's 4x what we pay for rent!!!
This treatment must be very new, for so many people not to have heard of it.
Marilynne, Quantiferon TB Gold test is fairly new. It is a whole blood test, where in the past the only test was the skin test.
Here is some info from Public Health Canada.

Stelara reduces your ability to fight infections, including TB.

My Chemo drug is over $84,000. per year. Wonder why my insurance keeps me. My co-pay is $8,400. Fortunately paid by a grant.
Always makes me nervous when I see some of the newer drugs on TV. The warnings are scary. My Dr. wanted me to take one of them for the nerve pain I'm having right now but I looked it up and declined. This will come to an end at some point.
I know - whenever Bob sees some new drug on TV, then listens to all the counter-indications, he says that the cautions are worse than the disease they're to cure!!
Have itchy feet? The cure could cause liver disease........ No thanks, I'll put up with itchy feet!! lol
I'm not sure if there is a drug for itchy feet that causes liver disease, but you know what I mean........
The latest one for toenail fungus is a riot. Burning, tingling, blisters, pain, are among the side effects. seems worse than the condition.
Todd and I listen to those commercials and look at each other. I don't know how half of the meds got approved.
no kidding - how DO they get approved?
I am here. All is well. It has been summer here instead of spring so I have been trying very hard to keep my spring garden alive. And my leg has been giving me fits. It went back to PT yesterday and got a full night sleep last night for a ling time. I just should not be so stubborn. My thinking is just work through the pain and it will go away.
I keep an eye on you guys everyday and you are part of my day very day. You are always in my warm thoughts. I will be back more. Hugs to you all, Sharon
Hiya Sharon - good to hear from you. Glad all is well.
I'm also glad you come to see us, if only to lurk. Thanks for posting - we like to hear about you, and have you a part of our day as well :-)
Stubborn is my middle name, so flaunt your stubbornness - there's a lot of it going around lol When you're stubborn in a way that's detrimental to your health, we'll be there to tell you so lol
btw - my great g-mother said our family is Not stubborn...... we're Determined!! So There lol
Good morning ..
Up early to get on the raod for breakfast before DH Ophthalmology appt. ALWAYS a long wait.
I hear ya on the new 'biologics', but, am full steam ahead .. my bones are deteriorating and it has to be stopped .. I am putting my trust in my doc, and, I think it is well placed, I have known him for years , as a patient and working with him, and, he would not steer me wrong .. truth be told, the pain is getting to be far to severe now. Some days my neck will let me do nothing but lay down, and, I am DETERMINED, and, I won't ..
Gonna be a journey for sure.
SNOWED here overnight, about an inch ... as the temps creep up that'll make for messy roads, glad I didn't get the ca washed yesterday!
Stay well all, nice to hear from you Sharon :-)
~M~
Morning everyone!
Good luck at the Dr.s today!
Morning all,
Just got up, everyone saying let's go to the beach, lots to respond to so will do so when I get back, won't be there but for a few hours as its major hot

Don't forget your sun lotion!
good morning.
Betty have fun in the sun but not to much.
Sharon wow those are some temps you all get. I rememeber in AZ those temps....
Susan lovely quilts you are doing. love the colors
M good luck at the Dr today. Hope it all gets straightened out. Wow on the price of the meds !
Funny i often here people say " eating healthy is to expensive " ..... apparently they don't understand how expensive it is to be sick ?? yes insurance pays a portion but not all of it !
sending everyone prayers :)
not much going on today. foggy and warm... kinda icky.
Hi - I got home yesterday afternoon. Did a lot of unpacking and played with the dogs. Feeling less tired than usual after a trip but still need to rest.
Tony is here and happy with the Little Giant type ladder I brought him. And that we have about enough money to pay for the property.
The tax court hearing was scheduled for tomorrow. I did not get anything in writing from the IRS people so I'm still a bit nervous. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers that nothing more goes wrong.
Most of the problems with IRS and other agencies have been due to misinformation (sometimes deliberate lies) from my retirement association so I am thinking a lot about how to deal with that. Moods are up and down like a yo-yo but overall better than before my visit with the IRS people.
Things are warming up here but still pleasant. My jasmine is huge and in full, fragrant bloom. Can you all smell it?
hugs, katie
yes, I smell it here all the way in Canada!!
I'm so pleased you're feeling better about the IRS. Misinformation, once detected, is a good thing to get a handle on.
I pray that everything goes smoothly from now on, Katie :-)
What's a Little Giant ladder? I shall have to Google it lol
Glad to hear you are home Katie. How was your trip?
Had the surgery on my hands Monday ..Dr says I can't do anything that involves "dirt or water or animals" until stitches come out on 20th. I can shower with protective wraps over hands and I can not pick up anything I can't lift between thumb and index finger of left hand. Hunt and peck typing left-handed is "interesting"
Betty, the irises like having the mushrooms you sent me to "rest" against. Thank you again, the butterflies and dragonflies often perch on them.
Glad the surgery is over, Jean - not fun during the "healing time", but you'll be better than ever, afterwards. Yeah, I can believe that it's "interesting" to type with the opposite-to-what-you're-used-to hand.........
When I tore the muscle in my Left hand, between thumb and forefinger, I couldn't believe how much you do with the hand that's not your main one. I'm Right handed. That was a lot of years ago, but I still remember.........
I'm going to go lay down........ painkiller for my knees is knocking me out. Not helping my knees, but maybe the rest will help them.
Beautiful picture Jean, sending healing prayers for your hands!
Susan, I hope your feeling better soon!
Quickly sharing this
Hi and hugs to everyone
Making dog food .. be still my heart !!!

That is awesome!
Dog food done for a month, quite the chore ..
Jean, happy to hear your surgery is done, bet you can hardly wait for the 20th
The Irises are beautiful ...
Thank you again for the info re Stelara etc. The hospital has still not quite grasped this blood test I HAVE to have .. in fact (and this is NUTS) I might have to travel to a lab in Ontario to have the draw and the test !!??HELLLOOOO .. I want to know why the sample(s) can't be sent away from here to Toronto ... such a lot of rigmarole ..boggles the mind ..
Hope the meds at least worked a bit on your knee Susan .. but .. rest is best .. give all the tendons/cartilage/muscles and nerves a break .. do you wear a splint of any kind?
Katie, best of luck with the IRS my dear, and, I can almost smell that beautiful Jasmine :-)
I can imagine your furries are ao happy to see you.
Do rest and relax, and, rejuvenate ..
Salads to make for supper .. Sue, ikky weather here too .. sloppy wet snow and some freezing rain ... pfft ..
TTFN
~M~
No splint - and knees are not doing well.
Bob wants me to go to the store - not happening.........
Morning all,
Guess with thoughts of leaving this morning neither Dar or I could sleep, even the kitties know something is up.
Bedding in the wash, having coffee and when daylight breaks we will be off.
Been fighting a sore throat for a few days, thank goodness for cough candies.
Listened to ads re meds last night and felt the same, taking it all in who would take such meds but anything you take could result in some side effect and they just have to cover all bases, me thinks they've gone a little overboard
"M" it's surprising that nobody seems to know about this special test..hmmm Toronto you say?
Katie, would you not have felt more at ease had you stayed until the hearing so hope all goes well. I must have misread, thought you got the land payment settled before you left. No wonder Tony watches over you as he does, you spoilt the heck out of him..he will enjoy his ladder, he is always repairing something
Jean, here is hoping the operation was a complete success..am sure it's more than difficult trying to do your daily routine, happy you could post..glad the mushroom set is enjoying your garden. Was thinking when weather gets a tad better I will make more but try and incorporate stained glass pieces in them to give the more pizzazz, have all the fixings just have to get warmer weather
Sharon, how's it going? The extreme heat must be difficult for you to endure, not so much inside but when out in the gardens..hope your home has mega windows so you can look out for some ohhh's and ahhh's
LindaKay, how is the rose garden doing, are you seeing any differences?
Starting to be concerned re our Debbie, sure hooe she posts an update.
Susan, think you will have to rest yourkneemore..you are fighting being slowed down
"m" enjoyed the link, beautiful piece, looks like a hard one to do
Deb, what is up I your neighborhood?
Barb, now that the weather has improved are you road running?
Bev, how is the new babe doing?
Karen, how are the travelling plans going and did you hear from the individual who was interested inthe place?
Sorry if I've missed someone, not intentional
I will let you know when I start to head north

We are in KY, heading on today to NC. Was heavenly to be able to take off our coats. Went from 32 at home to near 80. Wheeee.
Man called on Mon. about the house. They are waiting a while. I told him we will have to relist when we get back home end of the month and will then have to hold firm on our price. Not saying more to him ball is now in his court.
All is well here, fighting off another virus or something. The doctor called it RSV. Horrible chest congestion, rattling when I breathe, but otherwise feel fine. Get very winded just walking up a flight of stairs. Doctor has me on antibiotcs and prednisone, which helps settle the rattle in my chest for most of the day, but it comes back by evening. I guess it's just going to take some time.
Pups are doing good, daffodils are starting to bloom.
Deb
Good morning:-)
Safe travels to all on the road .. Betty, how many cats come back with you, and, are they good travellers? I'd be nervous, sort of different as opposed to having a dog.
Deb, sure hope you weather the respiratory infection .. prednisone is such a wonderful drug .. jus hope you aren't on it too long ..
DAFFIES!! Some homes have a few showing if they have been planted up beside the house.
Otherwise, still snowy here..
Susan, Lorna wears a splint on her left knee for support. When she has her prosthesis off, it's her only support (her R leg) she thinks it helps, got it at Shoppers .
Have my 'light bulb' at the ready, sock darning today ..plus trying to find out about that blood test ..
Have a stellar day everyone
~M~
Morning everyone.
Safe travels Betty.
The roses are getting a slow start, but it has been raining most of this week, so hopefully they will take off soon.
Jean hope your hands heal quickly and you are able to move them again. warm thoughts of healing to you.
M wow on that quilt ! im speechless.
Betty safe travels. hope your not coming down with something.
Deb yuk. sure hope you can get some relief soon and start to feel better. warm thoughts and healing to you also.
Texted Cookie and gave her updates on everyone. She is busy busy out n her garden and finishing her house project. she says hi to everyone
I'm looking out at three inches of snow!!!! Yes - AGAIN!!! Will it never end up here?
I finally got the camera back and posted some photos in sewing
Fighting a sinus infection that doesn't want to quit. The antihistamine knocks me right out and all I want to do is sleep. Hope this one doesn't last too long.
Waving to all and heading back to bed..~~~~~~~~
Love that quilt "M"
Thanks for your good thoughts re: my hand. Today I get to remove the original bandage and clean the area and put on a smaller bandage...funny how something so trivial can make you happy...grin.
Betty, safe travels...
M...here is a link to the lab in London, Ontario....gives phone numbers, etc..Maybe your doctor can order the test kit and send blood to the lab? Probably no one is familiar because the test is not covered by Canadian Public health...I read in one of the links, that the test costs $90 Canadian..
