Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glad you have figured out that you aren't Superwoman Marti. Take care and get some rest...ya have to take it one day at a time.

Debra, send yourself a D-mail with the info... You can use one mail with multiple replies and then you know where to look without searching every forum/thread you are on.

Have a lovely weekend...hope it is sunny and warm for you all.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Yes Moon please explain for those of us that have CRS (can't remember Stuff)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

was it you Annette? I thought it was either you or Carole.. ( on the confederate rose)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Alrighty. When you post a message or reply here, you see your info in the left corner.

Click on your name and that will take you to your profile page. Toward the lower left side are the words ACTION in that box are things you can do from there.

Click on send "Your Name" a D-mail and it will take you to your mailbox. Just send it to you from you and include the plants/seeds, swap info you want to remember. You can do a separate mail for each person, or just keep everyone in one d-mail and add replies as needed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, Debra, you did send me one. I know you said it was a hibiscus, but could not figure out that you called it a confederate rose. It is doing really good, it has at least 8 big leaves on it so far.

today is garden naked day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just heard on the news there was an earthquake in Michigan, and it was felt down to NW Ohio. Anyone here feel the quake?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

We went garage/yard sale and flea market hunting to day and I bought a Lace Leaf Red Japanese Maple tree about 4.5 feet tall for $45.00. I looked at one about that size at a nursery and they wanted almost $100.00 for it. Now I have to plan were in the yard to put it. Maybe by the front porch?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Great find Mary. send a picture when you can.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

i use to use the plant trade section as a reminder for dg. Now I use my phone for everything. All my notes, calendar appts, once I forced myself to use it I love it. It is always with me, grocery store, flower shop, all the important places...lol. I use the camera to take pictures of recipes or notes or what flower pots I still need to fill with annuals.

garden naked...rofl. I get so scraped, burnt, and black and blue with clothes, can you imagine? rofl... actually not a pretty thought at all!!!! lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, the things we do just to see a flower bloom!

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Happ i have started using phone phone for way more also. Really is a great idea. Yes, LK i did feel the earthquake at my house. Things shook that were not suppose to be shaking. Really kinda scary. No damage far as i know. The center was only about twenty miles from us.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

linda, usually confegerate oses don't bloom till sept. or october

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I remember we felt an earthquake in the SE corner of MI, gosh it had to be over 30 years ago. My DIL and I were sitting in the kitchen and the plants hanging in the bay window started swaying. For a moment we just sat there not realizing what was happening. Suddenly comes the dawn and we grabbed the baby and ran outside. It's a very unsettling feeling when your whole world starts moving under you.

My DGS lives in Kalamazoo and he said he heard glass breaking but couldn't find it so not his house.

I cannot imagine living on the west coast and dealing with them more often.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the blooming info Kathy!

Karen, I can't imagine going through an earthquake. I know I would have to go change my pants, if the earth started moving under my feet.

I lived thru 2 earthquakes in Calif. The Sylmar quake a 6.8 quake that tore down bridges, 1 hospital and blew up streets with exploding gas mains and water mains. I also lived in the San Fernando Valley when the Northridge quake did alot of damage even up in our area. Not fun and gives you a healthy respect for mother earth when she decides to move.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Speaking of MOM Nature she is dumping a ton of rain on us with hail....we were a little dry but it has been pouring for at least an hour! I mean to the I can't see across the road.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope nothing gets damaged from the hail!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

hope we get some of that rain.. Joe is cleaning out the gutters and mowing today. Yesterday he cut up branches and cleaned things back in the alley where people throw stuff, and got the compost pile leveled out, his weeding area is really looking good, he sits and pulls out all the creeping weeds from his Bermuda patch. It's funny how stays outside all day while I work. I told him when he starts getting bit up he will be back inside. LOL
I just can't get him to water the flower beds, he will water his beans and potatoes, but that is about it.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OMG the amount of rain we got must of been 4 inches if not closer to 5! You can't walk anywhere. The farm ground around me is in standing water....yuck. It will be awhile before they are back out there again. It came from the west surprised you didn't get any Debra. Really good for digging a trench around my flower beds tho. lots of the old mulch got washed away, I didn't have hardly any new mulch down I was waiting for the helicopters from the maple trees to fly down and boy did they. We have a possibility of rain everyday this week.

Boy I didn't realize how many blue bell products I use to buy until it is missing..... ;( some of my favorite flavors of ice cream and dip.....

Good Luck LK on those darn fleas!

Count your blessing Debra that Joe helps in the gardens at all!!! lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hang in there. Blue Bell is starting to fill the shelves again!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh I am a very spoiled wife, believe me. What other man do you know that lets you tromp in and out leaving mud and leaves while bringing plants, critters and fish in and out all year round? LOL

still waiting for rain, do you know it has been 2 years since our basement took on water, so if it takes on water that means we got a good soaking rain. What man do you know that buys another shop vac to get the water instead of having the foundation fixed? :) He is one of those don't fix it til it is already broke and will never work again kind of guys..

which, is okay, cuz he has some money, and I don't! LOL
He is a great cook, does laundry and won't let me do dishes anymore. I kind of like that.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I like that kind of man.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Debra, I honestly don't remember on the Confederate Rose. But it's Ok ,cause I need to get a bunch of things into the ground before I take on any new plants. I am trying to be "smart" about it. I lost a bunch of plants over the winter. so I am hoping to replace some of those this year. I hope you get some rain soon. We finally got a little break from the rain and are hoping to take advantage of it by working outside.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

well, I'll hang on to it Annette, and when you decide you can let me know.. we finally got a bit of rain. Have not heard the amount numbers yet, Joe will call me when he checks the rain gauge.
told the girls last night that all I want from Dad for our 35th is a paid off free and clear car before I retire.. so now they will tell him that when he starts asking ":what can I get your Mom for our anniversary?"

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keep giving those hints, maybe he will get it.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My friends always want to know why I call my gold cat the Queen B. Here's a picture to help understand. She owns everything as far as she is concerned. This is her on my computer desk and using 2 of my books to rest on.

She is beautiful!

How is your knee doing?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My knee is doing better. I still have part of the knee that lacks feeling from the nerve damage done when I had surgery. Dr. says some of that will come back, but that is a side effect of the surgery and some will remain.
I am back to work 22 hrs a week. I work 4 days at 4.5 hrs and 1 day at 4 hours to make the 22 hrs. I will keep this schedule even after the dr releases me completely for work. The hours suit me and does not wear me out like when I was doing 7 hrs a day 3 days a week. I am also learning to slow down and take it easy at work. I'm not trying to stuff a week into one day. I take me time and if I don't get it done today there is always tomorrow. Most of my work is just scanning paperwork and refiling it and it is not necessary to be done all today. I have a yr to get it done. Today I finished the last of the ones I was doing and went home early. I can't do that to often or I get in trouble with the company I work for . I can leave early once in a while and come home to my computer textbook and study.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Beautiful cat. I went to check on my two grandcats, their momma is n texas, so I am the one in charge of cat care.
I am glad you are feeling better Mary.

the carribia rose is loaded with huge hand sized blooms. The rain has laid a lot of flowers down. I didn't even get to see them but a couple hours. *whine*
Baptisia is blooming as is the mock orange, it has a sport I am digging up. Goji's are really getting big, we have three. the flowering almond already bloomed, so did the vibernum. ( one of them anyway) had to take a stupid pill just to relax, I am in overdrive with wanting to Garden and stuff. Cya later.

Beautiful rose Debra. I hope you get some sleep.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I love Viburnum, I had three Korean spice downstate. Their aroma is heavenly. I saw one in bloom at a restaurant once. as soon as I smelled it, I stole a couple leaves and went to the nursery hunting it.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)
