Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

OH NO!~Not the dreaded computer crash! I had that happen a couple of times. Now I save all my pics to a flash drive. You can also upload them to google, so you can retrieve them if something like that happens.

Mary, those are pretty, what is the first one?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ooooh a trilium.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Your right, Karen. I have a couple of different types. I'll try to get pictures of the other one tomorrow. It is a larger type and somewhat different flowering.
Most of my iris are putting up buds. As they open I will post pictures. I have at least one of each color including black. My iris "Starship Enterprise" has got a bud on it. This will be the first time it has bloomed for me. My son bought it for me in Calif.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Lovely blooms Marti.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

very pretty marti. will have to takepix of mine again, now that I have a ew computer

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh Mary so beautiful your trillium! Mine are just getting going..

Kathy, so sorry about your computer. Last time that happened to me, I had a computer guy retrieve my stuff. now I use a separate drive to store stuff on.
LK, Paula sent me newspaper clippings of all the flowers and festivals going on around her in SanAntonio, I wish I could see it in real life.
a few things blooming here.. but too cold for me to stay out and enjoy it, I just can't handle weather temps lower than 65.

A couple of more iris and another Trillium. This Trillium is about a foot tall and 8 inches across. It gets bigger every yr. I see more iris buds coming on so will post as they open.

Yesterday was my first day back to work after a 2 month off after knee surgery and pinched sciatic nerve. I came home exhausted. I'm used to taking a nap about noon and I worked til 1 pm and than stopped at the pharmacy to pick up my RX that was ready. Came home, changed cloths and laid down and fell asleep til 4 pm. Felt good. Than I helped fix dinner. We had meatloaf wrapped in cabbage and a sauage cassoale that is really good. Back to work today.

Love your trilliums Marti, mine are all out in the woods. LOL Sounds like you're making a good recovery just don't over do. Found out we have to listen to our bodies.

I have totally given up using my cane while on this trip. We'll be home later today, hubby has to make a business call this morning then back on the road for 4 hours. Amelia has been such a super traveler for a 21/2 year old. Even giving us plenty of warning when she needs a potty break.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

getting my computer fixed for free, and they will try to save my pix. meanwhile i'm buying one of those external thingys, so I have backup

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mary, those are beautiful! I agree with Karen, listen to your body, rest when you need it.

Karen, have a safe trip.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

External hard drives are what I use, about every 3 to 4 months, I will put pictures from my computer to the hard drive.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

are they hard to use

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

no not hard at all, just plug into usb port, and transfer from your computer to your plugged in drive. I have an external hard drive that is about 4 gig, and a whole ton of usb flash drives. The flash drives are easier, the external hard drive is large enough for "back up"

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Like Debra said, just plug it in, and transfer what you want to save. Unplug when not in use.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

last time I tried to use a flash drive nothing happened, soi threw it out.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I need to drive there and help you.. how far away are you from me? :D

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

RARELY do computers ever crash you can't retrieve the information on them. When I worked I would take out the hard drive, had an cables you could hook the drive up to, plug it in another computer and there would be your stuff. Usually all that crashes are the boot sectors. Or you get a virus that won't let you boot, or bad software that wont let you boot.

Cheapest way to do an external harddrive is buy the cables about 15.00 a harddrive cost depends on what you want and you are home free. not fancy but reasonable. Can buy the hookups at tigerdirect or newegg.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Flash drives are easy peasy. Just plug it in, open it up. Open the file you want to save and drag & drop into the flash drive. I just used one to transfer everything from old puter to new puter. When it was full I just did a format on it and continued.

Beautiful blooms all. My trilliums are just starting to get some buds on them. They have really spread. I got mine on a swap from someone years ago. I may have to thin them some. Will see. But all are retreaving really nicely. My tulips are opening so excited. My clematis are doing so beautifully too. No buds yet but soon i am sure. Kinda chilly here this morning may have to turn the ole furnace on just to warm up the house. Ggrr. But i do not care i do not have to work for two days. Any way back to gardening i hope you all have a wonderful day what ever you do.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you have a few days off. Enjoying getting out in the garden!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I'm so glad you are out and about and enjoying the weather, Ronna..

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

You were all right! I did not listen to my body and paid the price by having to call off work on Friday with a low grade fever and diarrhia. I was only working 4 hours a day for 4 days but at work I was pushing it to get as much done as I could in those 4 hours and each day I came home exhusted. It caught up to me Friday. This next week I will slow down and take it easy. If I don't get everything done-- "Öh Well""IIt will just have to wait till the next day.

I see the surgeon for the hopefully last time on May 14th and I also see my primary care Dr on the same day. At least I only have to make one drive to Lexington.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I try to arrange my appointments the same way Marti, That way I only have to get one blood draw and the results are sent to both Drs. I don't have near as long a drive as you but any I can save helps.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

you girls need to get healed up fast and get out into the Garden... that is Doctor Debra's orders.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Dr. Debra is right...gardening ...in moderation, can be very therapeutic. It usually works for me.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Wish I knew who told me they wanted a confederate rose. *sigh* so many threads to go to and find out.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Debra it is easy to lose track, isn't it? I forget which post had what all the time. lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My desk is all covered with sticky notes because I try to jot it down at the time and then discard when task is done.
