My DD who does cakes was coming up this week-end and I asked her to make some cupcakes. I wanted to take them to our EMT's volunteers all, who were so very good to me and saved me 3 times in a month and a half.
These are what she brought. Just perfect. Took them over today and they loved them.
I have by the way seemed to have turned a corner in just the last couple days. All the incisions are still very sore. but the rest of me is feeling much better. The nausea has gone, I hope for good. My appetite is better and I feel much stronger.

Love those cupcakes Karen!
Betty, I got your fabric. Thanks so much!
Diane, I bet they thundering herd is so rambunctious now, that the weather is getting better?
I will go get a picture of my rose garden. Be back in a bit.
I will just have to enjoy your roses until I can have them again. I really miss my rose garden.
Betty i do love the colors on the quilt.
Lk those roses are going to look great. lots of work you got here.
Cute cupcakes Karen. They will be so thrilled to receive them. I bet they taste as good as they look.
Dianne so much fun puppy stories you always have. They sure are a cute load of pups you have.
not much going on here at Tom's. He has a nasty cold. Watching a movie Road To Perdition. With Tom Hanks. Kinda of a mob story in the 30's.
wow on the broken wrist story - what a lucky lady your mil was then!!
Karen - congrats on turning the corner and feeling better and those cupcakes look delicious! Not for me though - trying to lose the weight I gained back when Susan came to visit lol
LK - those roses are going to be lovely - I'm looking forward to my own roses, but won't be for much longer though
My voice is almost 100% - hooray! missing choir practice and church isn't fun.....
The blanket I just knit is washed and blocked on towels, on the floor behind me. I switched to a plain chair instead of my office chair so I don't accidentally roll onto it. Now, to wait for a couple hours for it to dry... Then I'm going to embroider a small label for it - showing who it's from and who made it.
It's stopped raining, but the sun's not out yet.
Mom and aunt Muriel just left, they ate well so use have enjoyed it.
LindaKay even the tracking sheet had two of the same address and tracking numbers, guess she keyed in the wrong thing..glad it arrived..will dmail turtles to let her know it won't be going to her house. Those rose bushes sure look healthym imagine how they will prosper this summer.
Like that you left the old tree stump, now to work on a miniature display.
Dianne, doing same here with the kitties..in/out - out/in every few minutes, just wears me out. Went to help mom carry a few things to the car, wow that wind is strong and cuts right through you..no melting today for sure. Smiling, your pooches have spring fever. Think another food chain just changed hands, can't remember which..like shopping at Metro, do you have one?
Susan, maybe next weekend you will be able to sing in the choir..you'll not get rich doing those baby blankets, Lordy that is one tremendous amount of work
Karen, did,t have desert, my moth is just watering looking at the cupcakes..so pleased to hear you have turned a corner.,soon you will be dancing a jig in celebration.
Sue that movie sounds familiar..love Tom hanks..I enjoy mobster movies
Poor Tom, best you make him soup
Sitting here hand sewing binding on the quilt I took off the frame yesterday
Rather tired, hear my bed calling me 😴
yeah, I know, Betty - I'd get more if I did a quilt, machine stitched quilt-in-the-ditch cuz it would cost less in time, but more in materials.
Sure taking a lot of time for the blanket to dry. I'd Like it dry for tomorrow lol
Hi all, thanks so much for understanding my whining about the bad hair.
You know, when it is longer it hides my extra chubby chins and cheeks!!!
Betty, we did go to Hamburg to the craft show! DH took me up there, and we
walked for about 2 hours. He got his chocolate goodies, and a "bacon ketchup"
he wanted to try. He loves the specialty foods and seasoning. AND I had been
admiring a "verse" on a picture I had seen last year. Well, found it done a bit different
and he insisted I get it....and something I need right now. It is a A.A. Milne Quote (said by
Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh) And as I said I need it now:
“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
Then, we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, had a steak dinner with mushrooms and baked potato and green beans. I actually turned down Cracker Barrel for that. lol
Then onto the big farmers market to get some specialty ground meats and fruits.
Really was a nice day.
Shane is past his hedgehog stage and feeling much better!! Eating much better too. I didn't
realize how much pain he had been in from his teeth, and felt horrible. So proud of him
and how he is doing (knock wood).
Thinks I might head to bed early tonight. Yes, the pains are still there, felt it quite a bit
walking today. BUT, feeling sleepy for first time ina long time.
Betty, that is truly a frightening thing to discover, but so very good they caught it in time. Seems strange to tell her" Gee, lucky you broke your wrist".'
Too cool Dianne. I will have to check out Joe's new music. I spent the afternoon trying to get some things straightened up in the garden, headphones on listening to Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAhHGYrzj2M
and AfroCelt Sound System
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmjcjkp9GIk
Happy music.
Morning everyone.
Morning,
Great music Jean, how relaxing it must be to work in the garden, see the flowers and listen to music..so envoy you this time.
Know it's just turned spring here, dirty/dirty here, so much work
Calling for 44f today but ground still mostly covered with snow so best I can do is walk the gardens
Am hand sewing a binding on a quilt that has flowers, does that count?
Sure hoping there is sunshine in your neck of the woodso
Dreary day in the Bay .. light snow, and freezing rain is expected later ..
DH and I were going to walk the dogs, first time for him in quite sometime, but, looks as though it'll have to wait a day.
He has a batch of meatballs in the oven .. I have stripped the beds and am doing laundry, and, Lorna is playing with the dogs as she tidies her room ..
Metro has Prime Rib roasts on sale for $5.88/lb, so, DH bought one, and, along with salad and baked potato that'll be supper ..
I really should do our taxes, just so dislike the job .. but, for the sake of saving $200., I'm game !!!
Susan .. good to hear your feeling better, how's Bob doing with the loom?
Debbie, you sure had a wonderful day with your DH .. hope you slept well last night ..
LK .. love the roses .. long stemmed I would guess?
We have Rosa Rugosa here, very few long stemmed ..
How's your 'owies'?
Dianne ... 3 keepers of the door here .. and today we have a reprieve because of the weather .. I hear ya re the Coyotes .. we have a Wolf prowling around this area .. doubtless one of the farmers will have to 'dust it' to protect the herd.
Sue .. "Road to Perdition" was quite the violent movie! Hard to believe Tom Hanks in the role, but, he did it so well ..
Jean .. I consciously TRY to use my left hand to lift cups etc, but, invariably use my right , but, I am still able to 'catch it' if something starts to drop ..
Happy stitching Betty .. hope this yuk weather doesn't head your way ..
Hoping Katie is doing OK, been a bit since she posted .. Sharon and Marion as well .. OH, and Barb .. every time I use my Corelle plates I think of her .. wonder if she bought any, and, hope she's OK
Back to .. hmm .. whatever hits me first LoL
~M~
Morning everyone.
"M", ouchies are the same.
No long stemmed roses here, they are your standard floribundas or tea roses. And a few climbing ones.
Well, I had our first hummer in my hands last night. I had a feeder in my hand, and the hummer came right up, and landed on the feeder, and just sat there drinking his nectar. I will take the camera out this afternoon, and try to get a picture.
Sun is just a shining, wind is up and bitter cold..weatherman made an ooops with temps
LindaKay, do you cut your roses and bring them inside to enjoy?
Only roses I do very well with is carpet roses..want to purchase 3-4 more this year when walmart has them out..so long lasting
What a way to start your day lindakay, hummer in the hand
You've got me cooking "M"
Everyone's meals sound so spectacular that I can't resist..lots of frozen goodies, have a ham from metro, bake it with a little maple syrup, make ,scalloped potatoes and there is supper.
Rita was to come this mornimg to do her diaper bag but she called, on her way this afternoon to Orillia to fabricland, has a 4pm appt so who knows she might be around for eats
I have one side of the quilt binding left to hand sew, did out the other quilt on the frame..eyes getting heavy, just might take a nap
Marilynne - Bob? loom? hmmmmm all he had to do was get down and tie 4 cords lol it's done
Now, I need him to get out the warping mill pieces so I can make it, and wind my first warp on it.....
Yeah, Where's Our Judy?!?!?
Susan think the first piece you make should be for Bob, lordy he sure put a lit of effort into it
Every once in awhile I will cut some, but they bother hubbies sinuses sometimes.
I don't think they sell carpet roses here. I will have too Google them.
Homedepot.com has the carpet roses for $35.00 a piece. Wonder why they cost so much?
Carpet roses were developed in Australia (Anthony Tesselaar International)
http://www.tesselaar.com/about-us/
William Radler, in the USA developed the Knockout roses.
http://www.walterreeves.com/landscaping/history-of-knock-out-rose/
I would have said it was the import cost, but when I checked HD on-line here, the Knockout was equally expensive at $40.00 for a 3 gal. container...
Looked at Lowe's..1st i for carpet rose, 2nd knockout
http://www.lowes.com/pd_239854-1024-239854_0__
http://www.lowes.com/pd_85837-40115-NURSERY_0__
It just looks like HD is more expensive than Lowe's...
I've been very impressed with them,early toloo androgens almosttillthesnowflies..roses in abundance,smaller roses but gorgeous and fragrant..think I have around 6 of them..believe I paid under$20 @
Did have a small nap, Rita dropped in before town just to go over what she needs to make her bag..tempted to lay back down
She talked me out of doing ham and scalloped potatoes, said to use up spaghetti sauce from last night seeing I have salad already made
Thanks for the info Jean.
Knockout roses here @ Walmart are usually about $12.99 for a 3 gal. Pot.
Thunder is knockout roses like carpet roses?
Betty - I make stuff for Bob all the time - breakfast, lunch, dinner......... lol
I've planned for a long time, to make him one of those jacket sweaters, or maybe I'll make him a pair of plainsman boots - they're like mukluks without the fun - just hide. He has a pattern for them, man-sized. Would have to use gut to sew them together, but that's easy to find, and so's the hide.
Would be nice, make sure you use Hyde needle, it's like an arrow
I use it when doing the Hyde on the neck warmers
To my knowledge, yes I believe they are similar. Here they are heat tolerant, drought tolerant. Grow close to the ground. bloom prolifically . Resistant to rust, and other funguses.
I could have used one of those neck covers this morning! Dang it was cold. Couldn't talk for almost an hour, from the cold air walking from my truck to the store. Low 40's.
I know that's warm for you northerners :) butt bloomin' cold to me !!
Very much the same plant Thunder.
Sorry the weather isn't agreeing with your breathing..you will surely have to reconsider selling and moving north. Brrrr it's cold!
90 degrees in Texas today.
Wow
yikes - your spring is coming in with a BANG, LK!!
Morning all,
"m" did you send me the snow?
Another week closer to nice temps
Been watching weather for fort Myers, dang it will be hot, did I say that?
Remind me of -35 if you hear me complain
Not sure what I will getup to today
Will see what I am do about getting to airport Friday
Simcoe airport service want $90 for trip to airport, thatis not bad but want to pickme up at 7:30am for a 2pm flight.,have tout thinking cap on
Morning. That seems like a lot for a ride to the airport. Plus picking you up so early. How far is the airport?
100 miles
Maybe Noah or someone could take you?
It might be cheaper for you to drive, and leave your car in long term parking? It cost about $6.00 per day here.
Had forgotten you are further from the airport than Lorna's folks. Her rother comes from Tottenham and picks them up both ways .. EARLY morning both ways.
Sunny (ish) but only 30F right now .. will go up ..
I spent FIVE (5) hours on our taxes .. I got so frustrated, I printed off what I had done and am sending it in .. they can do it ..
Wanted to call someone from TurboTax for help .. WOAH .. $35.00 extra .. SHUT UP!!
Went to bed at 5pm, missed the prime rib I cooked, I was spent !
Last night (mostly all through the night) Smokey was sick ... I'd lay down, then hear him upchucking .. poor wee mite .. but, come the sun .. and, he's doing OK ..
Not sure what's on the agenda today ..
Maybe a quick run in to shop .. if you can believe it, a nurse I worked with passed away over the weekend :-(
Cripes, 2015 is just not a good year so far !
LK the rose beds are lovely ..
Barb .. are you and Norm OK?
Katie, come out, come out ..
Sharon, Marion, Dianne, Mary, Judy, Jean .. putting my Magic mirror away :-)
HUGS to everyone
~M~
