Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah, I had a cortisone shot in my knee, and it took 3 weeks to take effect......

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi, Checking in. Been reading and trying to keep up.

My computer is still in the shop and may be there for a few days. Logging in on DH's Net Book when I can. I realized it is past time for my eye exam....7in screen is way too small ...8-) I have an appointment with the ophthalmologist on April 1st....hoping no tricks on the Fool's day.

Saw the Orthopedic surgeon today...had x-rays of both hands and injections in both thumbs. Go for an MRI tomorrow and then scheduled for surgery on April 6th.

Things were getting kind of scary...DH swears the dogs and cats only keep us around for our opposable thumbs needed to use the can opener ....and mine aren't working that well. Grin

M, so sorry for the loss of your classmate...shame that funerals have become the reason for reunions.

LK I do so hope the meds give you the relief you need. I would cross my fingers, but then I couldn't get them uncrossed again.

Gee Debbie, seems you are having your share of ups and downs...so glad Shane is home now...he seems able to help keep your spirits up. Glad he likes his job.

Hope Barb, Katie and Dianne are doing well.

Susan, good to hear you are on the mend.

Judy, times sure flies...it has been 2 years since we got together. I did so enjoy our "slumber party" GRIN

Betty, I hope Florida offers you some calm restful days in the sun. I think with all that has gone on, you need and deserve a bit of calm.

Sending good thoughts and positive energy to you all, delivered by the HUG faery.

Jean

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jean!
What's wrong with your hands? Surgery on both them at once?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Probably so Linda Kay. The knuckle below my right middle finger has developed arthritis and is constricting the tendon and causing it to swell, so I can no longer "make a fist" or grasp things with that hand. It is also causing some difficulties with the rest of my fingers.

The left hand has developed a "cyst" for want of a solid diagnosis that runs along the edge of my hand from my little finger down to the heel of my hand. It has recently started to cause some numbness in my fingers, so we will see what the MRI shows. If Dr sees only a cyst, he says will drain it when he does the other surgery. Will know for sure after MRI.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all
Here's hoping we all have abreast weekend ahead of us.

Thanks Jean, looking forward to Florida sunshine!

Sorry to hear Jean of both arthritis and cyst, bet although frightening you ant wait for Wednesday and your appointment. Let's hope the cyst can be drained. Must restrict your getting out to garden, well for that matter doing most daily chores.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds pretty painful. Sending prayers for an easy fix.

Morning everyone. 42 this morning. Supposed to reach lower 80's today.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

TGIF .. sunny, but, cold .. with that ever lovin windchill it's MINUS 12 F .. back to mitts and hats and scarves. but, tomorrow we'll be in the + column again .. no ownder so many folks are unwell right now ..

Jean .. hugs dear lady .. my right hand is deteriorating .. one doc has suggested my thumb be fused so it won't move, I nixed that .. afraid I'd break it ..
Hand pain, any kind of joint pain is horrible ..
I wish you all the very best.

LK ... hope the new meds work for you .. happy to say Lorna's new prescription is ! It's a drug called 'Lyrica' .. her nerve pain is gonezo from her stump .. YAY !!

We had a bit of snow overnight. Just enough to cover everything and make the roads slippery. I think it's supposed to melt off during the day.

Busy weekend ahead. Taking pups to Wisconsin to a puppy match tomorrow, its like a dog show, but it's just for practice. It should be fun. Then shopping! I still have to find something to wear to my daughter's wedding next Weds. And, I was thinking of getting her one of those Pandora charm bracelets, so I need to go out looking. I want to get her something special as a personal wedding gift, and a friend had suggested the pandora bracelet, but between work and pups at home, I haven't had time to get out during the week. Everything has to happen this weekend!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great idea the Pandora bracelet, she will love it! both DIL's have them, expensive but a keepsake and charms can be added for special occasions..guess it replaced our old charm bracelets which I still have. Are you looking for dressy/dressy?? I made the mistake of doing that and after I wore to the wedding these costly outfits sit in the closet..helps if you have an idea..any color preference/style?
sounds as though you've one big week ahead of you
enjoy showing your doggies at puppy match
Sharon's going to some show as well, not sure where, know she has to fly

LindaKay, save that 80 degree weather for me..coming soon, leave Friday

Yikes "M" I'd pass on the fusing as well, sometimes fixing can make things so much worse. I think of June who comes here, did her wrists several times and now she holds them against her body and can't use them for any length of time..actually she called, wants to come over this morning so I can help her with a quilt project

was up early this a.m.
finished quilting the chop/chop quilt, just needs border now
cut mom's no sew blanket ready for her to tie
working on another quilt, need borders
this should keep me busy all weekend

Funny how our kids grow up, and get a life of their own!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

good morning
yes, kids sure do grow up, just like we did - Where, oh where did the time go.......
That pretty dress looks like one my mom knit for my daughter when she was little - could possibly be from the same knitting book.

I was getting well, but my voice is going again, and I'm feeling less than perky. I can't even say I didn't have a good night's rest, I did - but woke up tired.........

"m" they had to have their other put down a few years ago so understandably upset.
They just bought a cottage in Wasaga beach and they do a lot of Travelling on spider and will have a grandchild in a few weeks so lots to focus on.

Frustrating for sure battling with our system..does your ombudsman at least try to get you help?

Thought Foodland was in all small Ontario towns
I got supper, and 5 TV dinners made out of them, added peas and masked potatoes then I meal re soup so less than $2 a meal. I'll let spaghetti sauce cool then bag it keeping just enough for tomorrow's supper..not a fan as you know of cooking so when I'm in a cooking mood I'd best take advantage of it. Love the doggie photo's

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear Lorna is going through so much with her leg.

Betty, dinner looks good. Too bad your buys are out of town.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Marilynne - so sorry to hear that Lorna is having such bureaucratic garbage happening to her. It's just wrong

Betty - I'll be right over for dinner...it may take awhile - I'll have to walk, and I'm slow lol

I so dislike being sick with what has now turned out to be a nasty cough......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Off to bed susan, you need rest..
I will save you leftovers so take your time

Won't be long I'll be in bed, keep debating, shall I go put binding on the quilt and sit and hand sew or shall I have a bath and get comfy

Hmmm think bed won out, there is always tomorrow

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the kind thoughts. It wasn't so much because my hands gave me a lot of discomfort, but that I could no longer trust my grip...on cups, knives or even the steering wheel. I broke 2 of my favorite coffee mugs, they just dropped to the floor and shattered. A day later fixing supper, I took a very sharp butcher knife from the drawer, and very nearly took out one of the cats...eeyow. The right hand spasmed as I was turning a corner in heavy traffic and thankfully I had both hands on the wheel or I would have hit a car waiting to pull out. I came home and called the Dr for the soonest appt. He has enough X-rays and imagining to figure out what is going on and fix it hopefully.

This getting old stuff certainly isn't for the timid ...but I will certainly take it over the alternative. GRIN

We are actually having a real Spring weekend. Highs in the mid/high 60'sF and nights in the low/mid 50'sF. That is rare for us, usually we go from cold to hot and humid.

Hope you all have a pleasant weekend.

Karen, Sammi's picture is so cute. One day she will have a little one of her own and the dress will be priceless to her.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

nope, didn't go to bed, but I did do a "shutdown" and did very little.
Went outside for a bit and the sun was out and warm. Best medicine ever for being ill.

Bob is tying off the treadles to the loom, so I should be able to get the warping loom up by end of the weekend, and get some weaving done shortly afterwards - yaaaaaay!!

Its been a long month. Emotional for sure.
Tom and I reconcilled and had a wonderful time last night with friends.
Yes it is unfair that people get such things. She was just a person there. She didn't help in anyway so her crime was failure to report a crime and tampering with evidence and hiding evidence. None are felonies.
I will catch up soon
Sammi's pics are so cute
themoonhowl that sure was a scare you had

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sammi has worn many of the dresses I made for her mama. Love seeing them being worn again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Going to hit a high of 27f today, excited about that
Might even take a trip to back shed.

Let's hope Jean that there are some easy fixes for you..how scary having such things happen
NOT that this is what your issues are but I will tell you a story of long ago and my mil.

Linda, my cousin (we were next door neighbors growing up) married Roger's brother Rene so became my SIL 😀
Night of their wedding we had a celebration at my grandmother's, it was dec 21st, it had snowed so with all the people coming in throughout the day there was a lot of snow melting in the entrance of outer room then later freezing . Mil fell, taken to hospital and not only found she had broken her wrist but that cancer had eaten way the wrist bone like an apple core, but a sliver of bone holding it together..she was taken to the city, bones replaced, skin taken from hip..that fall the surgeon said had saved her life..what she remembered most was dropping things over past year, no strength to hold items..lucky lady

Sue, it's been a hard few months for you, the documentary on Jessica, the girl getting out of prison, anniversary of Jessica's death..just so much that it is overwhelming...hugs and prayers coming your way.

Debbie, how are you feeling today?

Hoping Barb and katie are doing ok

LindaKay, how are those beds coming along, get all your roses planted?

I've already bagged spaghetti sauce for freezer, had breakfast, buffed the floors, started another neck warmer and load of wash, now I can play!

What 's on your agenda today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Betty, yes I finally got them all planted. I just need to get the mulch on them, and will wait for them to grow. I will take a picture of what I have when it gets lighter.

Guess it was a good thing she fell and broker her wrist?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't overdo LindaKay
Will make less work for you than them being in pots
I looked for a few potted plants for inside yesterday but lordy right now they want an arm and a leg for them..perhaps if I go to town someone will have some ..lots of lily's for easter though

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is amazing what they are asking for potted flowers.

i would really enjoy house plants ... i have tried in the past but no luck LOL. Tim was always such an pita about house plants. I never went back to them. He said he was allergic to them... uhg. he was allergic to a lot of things i enjoyed !
i may go look for some .
Lk can't wait to see the pic of the gardens you have.
Yikes on the wrist story. wow. My father has a condition where his hands don' work like they use too. He would drop things and not have much feeling in them. Don't remember the condition ? i can ask him.
i m heading down to Tom's today. I may hit up cookie on sunday. :)
She has been very quiet lately ? i hope things are going ok with her and the family ? Cookie come out and say hi .

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

We had a few inches snow last night.

Feeling tired, but suffering a bad hearcut which actually left me in tears. I know it is
just me being so emotional right now, but really don't like this cut. Is just below my
ears and I have never had it that short in 20 years or more.
Yes it grows, I know....so have it with gel to put some bouncy curls in it seeing washing
it twice didn't make it any longer!

Katie, how are you doing, has been awhile since an update.

Betty, DH is bound to keep me busy. Not so sure if we are going to Broadway market
or to the Craft show, but he said we were going out.

Waving to all

Debbie i m so sorry about the hair cut. Those are the worst. I have had many bad hair experiences. I know your pain. Yes it grows back but that doesn't help right now . Sending healing thoughts to you. Have fun at your craft show or your Broadway market. those sound like fun

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

UGggggggggggg .. bad haircuts .. let me count the ways they have made me and others go just a bit 'cuhrayzee' ..
Thing is, you sit and watch them cutting your hair, but, it's wet, kinda hard to tell in the 'wet state' .. by the time it gets blown dry .. it's too late to ask for the chopped locks to put back where they were ..
Usually took about a week, sometimes 2 to get over it .. now I am much more SPECIFIC!!

Cool and sunny here .. laundry on the go, dish washer running ..
Funeral of my classmate is at 3pm .. will leave here about 1:45 .. I tend to think it'll be a big funeral as Donna was well known and well liked.

Have fun Debbie .. are you feeling any better?

Sue, I DO house plants .. for some reason they do grow for me .. sometimes too well .. friggin Shamrock plant has gone 'Chernobyl' on me !!!!
African Violets are kinda easy peasy in an east window, and, so pretty ..
Stay away fro English or Swedish Ivy .. both tend to grow gangbusters!

Waving HIYA to Karen and Barb and Dianne, Joyce Judy and Sharon .. et al

POOF .. I'm gone :-)

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, make me envious, go to the craft show!!!
ahhh, indeed it will grow in and as you say you are emotional right now..I bet it's just too adorable on you..think of it as a trial, would you enjoy having your hair that short, easy care etc.

Sue I'm not good at house plants, I once posted a photo of DEAD plants
I'm ok outside but inside no/no
that's why when they are not too expensive I buy them because the minute they start dying a new one replaces it..hmmm maybe when I get back I'll go to the Garden Gallery (Frankie flowerenjoy your weekend away, hugs to Joyce, tell her we miss her..hope Bill is oks for you Canadian gals father owns it) as they have some it's so hard to tell if they are real or not real.

"M" about the only thing I can grow is ivy..lordy, when the snow leaves I've a great ivy near the pond, spends the cold winter but prospers.

where are those photo's LindaKay of the rose garden..

well I worked on getting the quilt top done with the fabrics I bought in Buffalo last weekend..checking to see if I've enough to make a backing done with leftovers while keeping enough for binding..now if I've energy left over once that is done I might get it on the frame.

Mom and Aunt Muriel are coming for supper..glad I made spaghetti

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

House plants and I don't get along too well, of course I don't have good windows here either. The few I have languish through the winter until they can go out for the summer.
Hubby's German grandma had a hand full of green thumbs. Once when we were out shopping she saw a flowering maple and really liked it. I bought one for each of us. In no time at all, hers had more than doubled in size and was blooming it's little heart out. She was at our house and I showed her mine which looked much as it had when I brought it home. She said.. Oh Hon. you nicht water it nicht grows. I said but grandma I do water it all the time.. She then said Oh Hon. you water too much. Pretty much gave up on them then.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol, that's what I do Karen, forget those that need watering, or watering everyday those that need no water.

Rita just left, might come over tomorrow morning 'early' to make a tote bag her daughter want to serve as a diaper bag bit with a few changes in design, guess tomorrow's 'what to do' has been filled

Verona, ON

The sun is shining and it is not snowing.Woo hoo! Pretty cold but you can dress for that.

Betty a few years ago,, I am thinking 2006/7 Sobeys tried to get all IGAs to fall under the Sobey's jurisdiction and there was a big kerfuffle. When the dust settled there were Foodland, some IGAs ( basically in TO) and some Sobeys all under of the umbrella of Sobeys. Sobey sets the prices and each store has to follow their direction. What a mess it was then. I was working at the IGA then and it was terrible in the office - pure bedlam for about 3 weeks until we got the hang of it.

Well it was quite the week here - pups were like teenage boys. Lots of rocking and rolling here. All 3 of them 1 day were in time out more than once. Even Diesel who is usually so good. Diesel scolded me 1 day and as I looked at him I could see my sweet dad waving his finger at me and giving me heck. My sin was I promised he could have his rawhide when he came in from outside. I swear Diesel would talk to me if he could. I even checked the moon to see if it was a full moon. For 4 nights in a row the coyotes yipped and howled for a few hours. Don't look Debbie at the next sentence!!! I've loaded the rifle and it is locked in a cupboard by the front door. I might ask the farmer over from me to "dust" some of them off.

Jean our Joe has a new album out. Amazon listed it as a CD and DVD so of course I had to order it. Listening to Jim Croce right now - I needed something soothing.Hope you get some relief from your discomfort.

Does Shane still think he is a hedge hog Debbie?

Need to put my doorman's hat on and let the pups out.

BBL
Dianne
