Karen - us??? fussy??? lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hey you northern gals storm brewing here, hoping it doesn't head your way!

Just had supper, bath waiting and I imagine it will be an early night

Anything exciting happening in your neighborhood?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

nothing exciting here - temp is about 0 celcius
Bob's not home from work yet, and will make dinner when he is
Went to a Legion Senior's Lunch - they have them March to June, then Sept/Oct. Break for summer & winter. Costs $6 and boy oh boy - as good as anything that can be put on a restaurant plate - Roast pork, creamed potatoes, al dente baby carrots, apple sauce and a bun. Followed by Raspberry cheesecake. yummmmmm
I'm still knitting - making a slouch hat.
news - my son (the one I re-united with in Oct) is an idiot. I love him dearly...... but, he's an idiot.
When he contacted me on FB in Oct, he was just back with his "fiance" who'd taken off on him for another guy, for 3 months. After 1 week she took off again, for the same guy. Was gone for 4 months this time. They got back together on Monday, and last night (Tues) he told me the wedding is back on and they're getting married March 21st. She's 22 and he's 35........ He's smitten with her......
I'm being a good mom and saying NOTHING.... after all, our relationship is new, after 16 years of being apart. The wedding's to be with a Justice of the Peace, on Mayne Island, just off BC coast, with just a few friends. After, they will be driving to Regina, and passing through Calgary so we can meet. As I said, I haven't seen my son for 16 years. Looking forward to seeing him...... her, that's another matter. I will certainly welcome her, IF she hasn't left him again.
Before she left him back in spring last year, they'd been together for 4 years. We'll see.......

Hello all! I was following cake crumbs an got lost! Just wanted ta wish Betty a late Happy Birthday! Love and Hugs to you all!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Boy, Susan, sounds like he needs his butt kicked up the aisle.
My youngest had a bad case of headus upus rectumus. Married her while we all kept our lips firmly zipped. It's been over for years but he has never gotten attached to any one else. He's still involved because of his step daughter's daughter who he has wrapped his life around. Now there's another baby a boy and he's just as besotten. I love both those children too and she tends to use them against us.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, well, like you and your family - I'm saying Nothing...... there's not much I can say without him getting all defensive. I can't even talk privately to him on the phone or FB - she joins him on facebook on his acc't so when I see his name come up, it could be her. She doesn't talk as well as he does (he's intelligent, a bookworm, and well-spoken, has a good command of the English language and grammar. She, on the other hand, talks poorly and types worse lol so I pretty much know when it's her typing). We'll see if they actually stay together long enough to get married, let alone come through Calgary to go to Regina.
I'm biting my tongue, but Bob - well, he flat out disapproves lol Daniel is the product of my 1st marriage, so I'm the one who talks to both Daniel & Nikki.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear the good report "M". Kind of glad she didn't change the prednisone, Isn't that what is keeping the shingles at bay?
Saying prayers for the doctor's aim LK. Hope it goes great.
What a wonderful time you will have in April Karen....Bessie
sounds like such a wonderful person...
Hope things work out for your son Susan. And for your friends visit.
Hi Jax!!! Good to see ya!!!!
Betty - you can keep that storm right up there if you please..... We are getting more tomorrow too darn it. I have a haircut appointment in the morning too!
Almost done with things here. Will be taking pictures tomorrow....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Grrrrrr

Got a call from Melane who was sobbing, they were ready to leave for the city and Noah said he wasn't going to Kyle's..her friend who was going to stay at the house to look after the dogs did not want the responsibility of looking after Noah, he is being a €£¥+££*€€
Good smack might be what he needs

A few days after he was stabbed mel and Greg were to go on their trip, had to cancel it, now tonight he is acting up they were thinking of canceling again...I drove over in my nighty, clothes in a bag and I will stay here so they can go, not pleased about it but what can you do

Like to yell out a few swear words

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sounds like Noah needs a good swift kick in the butt!!! How totally selfish of him to pull that on his folks after all they have been doing for him. Hope you can talk to him Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to do my best

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not so sure Mel will go, gregsayshe'll go, Noah says 'go, I'll leaveand go somewhere tomorrow and grandma won't have to stay...

LK hope it goes well with your shots. Hope the pain goes away and you get some relief
Betty sorry to hear of Noah attitude.
M good news about Gord.
susan hope things work out for your son. Hard spot to be in, hope she treats him better when they are married.
Austin's team won there game. tomorrow is the last game of the tournament. He doesn't get to play much so he does get upset. So does mom. I hate sports !

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to say thank you Joyce for birthday wishes.
Greg and mel just left, not so sure mel will yet come home tomorrow before flight, she is soooo ready to break.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - how very sad that Noah's pulling this *%):#(& attitude on his parents. How long are they going to be gone for? For Noah to say "I'll go somewhere........" isn't sufficient - Mel needs to know that he's well and safe, while they're away.
Very good of you to go over to look after him overnight.

Sue - that's IF she sticks around long enough to get married and doesn't "bolt" again. Not sure she's ready to settle down, at 22.
Sorry to hear that Austin isn't having a good time at basketball. Such a shame that there's such competitiveness in grade 6 basketball....... it's a GAME, after all......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning

Ugh miss my bed, this bed has such a hard mattress

Had a bed partner lol

Here for a week unless he decides to go to Kylie's for a few days

Sue these coaches are obsessed with the game and winning, sad isn't it
They should be playing the kids afor equal time but that will never happen

Will go home for part of the day

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hope Noah doesn't bolt while you are home. Will he go with you?
Maybe you can get him to stay at your house with you instead. Then you have your own bed....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice warm bed partner! Betty, since it is just you and Noah, I think I would have a very serious talk with him, and fill his ears.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do that, the serious talk as I'm not a happy camper, not because it's an inconvenience but because od his treatment of his parents.

I will spend my time between 2 houses

I came home just before 6 to clean myself up, he will likely sleep in

Will try to negotiate not aging grandma with him 24/7 in exchange for sleeping her and my bringing him home early a.m.

Will approach him about staying with Kyle in the city this weekend so I can go to buffalo, or he could come with me..if both are a no I will just put off going until the weekend after, not a problem!

Sure hoping Mel doesn't change her mind about going..plane leaves at 10am

Any signs lindaKay that the injections are working?

Victoria Harbour, ON

BlueJays found me, now where are the robins to say spring is nearby!

I get my injection in about 4 hours.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Blue Jays are Squwaking away here too Betty, I just fed them their peanuts.

Gotta hand in to ya, re Noah, I wouldn't tolerate that kind of treatment, especially of Mel .. but, after all that's happened, I guess he feels ?entitled? to raise hell ?

Have a 'sick' or 'stressed out' pooch on our hands right now .. Piper (our little boy), slept on my head and is making like he is terrified o ?something?
Kind of had grunty breathing at one point ..
We think (Know) someone came to the house while we were out yesterday to return a shovel we had lent them ..am thinking he knocked on the door! and set off the thundering herd ..
Piper is UBER sensitive to noise and kafuffle ..
Am thinking we're going to be taking him to the vet .. I want to wait though .. he's eating and doing his business .. just am unsure what to do .. was up last night online, found out it was OK to give him a baby aspirin every 12 hours .. he's had one .. it helped too .. ..
Decisions, decisions ..

Gord has spent a poor night, shingles are driving him nuts ..

Hope everyone has a good day ..

HUGS

~M~

Sending you healing thoughts Lk.
Betty. i do remember those days with Jessica. So hard because there is no win win , no rational logic, you talk and talk and they just don't want to accept things ? i m just speculating. I feel for you guys. sending you all my love and healing prayers.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

awww poor Piper - hope he's better soon
Marilyn - after the fact, is there a med that Gord can take???

Victoria Harbour, ON

How's Piper doing this morning, still concerned?

Sue, please say it ain't so, keep thinking it will get better.

Noah is cooking eggs for breakfast, had his shower
I'm going to run into Midland for Taco Quesadilla's for his supper
will spend a few hours at home for the girls tonight then spend the night

Took Mel's machine out and quilted one of those tree runners, will knit on boot warmers this aft
tired/tired

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

speaking of breakfast........ guess I should have some lol

Betty - eventually it does get better - different time frame for every "kid".
Mine waited 16 years before he got back in touch with me, and I moved on with life. Now we're back together again, and life is good. Guess he thought I didn't want to see him, but he knows better now.
It could be a heckuva lot quicker for Noah.
My daughter, for instance, had a bad 6 MONTHS time in her teens.
They both had/have the same mother lol
now he's soon to be 36 and she will be 39, this year.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WOW, nice to be able to go out and play with the dogs, and, NOT be dressed to the hilt !
Piper is coming along ..poor guy, note to self, tell neighbours NOT to knock on the back door !!
Can only imagine what went on here ..

Susan .. Gord was given a drug called 'gabapentin' for the neuraligia .. the doseage was increased X 3, but, never seemed to help him ..
Last night I gave him Benadryl, and, it helped some with the itch ..

Fish for supper, but, I am going out with the dogs for a bit before I 'doctor it up' lol

How are you doing Karen?
Sharon, is your back OK
LK .. how'd the shots do ya ?
Katie, thinking boutcha ..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cancelled the girls tonight, Rita thought it would be just too much on my plate, hate to admit it but yes..

I'm hoping it will be that way Susan..going to talk a bit at supper but don't want to be point blank and things go wrong for the remainder of the week, it's day 1 of 7..going to emphasize just how close Mel (Greg) is to breaking point..been hard going for them..get that dig in

"m" nice that you didn't have to take Piper to vets, outing in sunshine probably did as much good
So windy here and -16 not factoring wind chill that it, bitter cold goes right through you, wind strong enough to almost lift you off the ground or so it seems

LindaKay, how did the shots go?

Just getting ready to do a Taco run

We will eat then hope I can get him to spend the night at my house, cross your fingers please

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am still under the influence of the pain drugs, but feeling better. I will know in a few days if they worked or not.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here is hoping LindaKay

Noah had taco's and I bbq ribs, we both have enough for tomorrow's lunch

Noah has his friend Shane over, shane is such a nice kid so I came home for a few hours then will head back..going to try our Kylie's bed tonight.

I will come home and spend part of tomorrow home, told noah if he and a friend wanted to go to the movies I'd drive them tomorrow night

Waiting to hear if Kyle is coming up Saturday, hope so

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,
she's a cold one out there brrr, wind is up
came home in my nighty, almost froze my petutie lol

I'll stay home this morning as Noah sleeps most of the morning then I'll bring him lunch then go over for the evening..looking to find a project or two that I can bind and hand sew to keep me occupied.

We talked about tomorrow, Joann's has such great sales then add on a 20% off entire order coupon and it's difficult to say I won't go. I e-mailed Suzanne and asked if she's be interested in leaving at 5:30am, shop for 3 hrs then homeward bound..that way I'd be home by around 4pm in time to spend evening with Noah..haven't heard back yet..here's hoping

other than that, quiet day

LindaKay, did you get up pain free and feel like doing the happy dance?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hope all worked out A OK for you Betty ..
I think like almost everyone here, we are worried about you .. such an unexpected turn of events, you are to be commended for taking on the task ..
Took Gord and I over 2 weeks to get ready for our 10 day babysitting job of our 2 teen grandkids.

Warmer here this morning .. +2 F ... yahoo .. going up to perhaps +10F

How are ya LK ?
And, Karen and Katie and Barb ..

TGIF :-)

alternative was "M" that Greg and Mel couldn't go, not only would they lose $4,500 but they needed the get away. Spoke with Mel on Facebook last night, told her all was ok, sit in the sun and enjoy!!!

Day 1 - went 100%
Day 2 - (here's hoping)
Day 3 - tomorrow, am hoping Kyle comes up

before you know it the week will be over

just a tad nervous incase something would go wrong

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Glad all is going well with Noah so far. Don' t be shy about throwing a bit of "grandma guilt" his way to bring him into line. Thinking he will be less apt to give you a hard time than parents. A bit of "I'm too old to have to be fretting over you" won't hurt him a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

he's pretty soft spoken with me which is good
guilt re I'm nervous, want all to work good for your mom and dad, your mom is heading for a breakdown etc etc..not overdoing so that's ok

I'll give him another hour then ask what he wants for lunch and bring it over, he did have a left over taco that he said he'd pan fry for lunch so might be ok

I'll give him option, I could go to movies with him which I'd like (not fond of going to movies) or I could drive he and a friend..alternative is to stay home and keep me company

I just put binding on a small throw, working on a second so that would give me hand sewing for tonight should we opt to stay home.

I'm so hoping Kyle comes up this weekend, he's lots to do, studying also so he may not be able to but I'm hoping as it would give me a day on my own tomorrow and wouldn't have to rush in Buffalo..asked him if he'd like to come but 3-3 1/2 hrs one way and then same to come home right away is a bit much for him at this time, that I can understand

how are you feeling Karen?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Slowly better Betty. Nurse is to come take out staples today.Hubby thinks there are a couple hundred. She just called to advise I take pain pills ahead of time. I told her really previous nurse said it didn't hurt. I advised her to come prepared with topical anesthetic as I've had my fill of pain thank you. She said OK. So we see.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! I am back home, and feeling pretty good. My hip is about 90% better, and my shoulder is about 80%. it was so good to get up this morning with hardly any pain in my hip!

Betty, I would not be afraid to talk to Noah with a very stern voice. He needs to be put in his place as far as his attitude with his parents. No child should talk that way to any adult. When we were growing up we all tried it, and we got our butts spanked, at 16 years of age. We had a lot of respect for our parents.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, I would still take a pain pill, just in case.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I agree, Karen - hindsight is 20/20, and those sound like they might be very painful coming out.....

I'm making southern style fall off the bone spare ribs for Bob's birthday dinner - with Scalloped Potatoes with bacon, and coleslaw (with homemade dressing).
Not sure what to get for a cake, but nothing too fattening for me...... I've lost 16 lbs! I can feel it....
And I'll be doing some baking for while Susan's here visiting - have to make Nanaimo bars and Whipped Shortbread of course. Yes, I'll take her to Timmies lol Going to take her to WalMart next Sunday too - after all, she has to meet Doug and he's our regular "shopping buddy" on Sunday! lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OOOoooooo .. Karen, I wish you well ..
I was one of the fortunate ones who had no discomfort at all, and, had expected it ..

Good to hear the shots are doing their job LK :-)

Betty, all I can do is wish you well .. I hope all turns out well for you ..
Is Kyle taking a spring course ?

Have spent about 2 1/2 hours out with the dogs playing, I'm pooped, and, they want MORE lol.
Lorna took Lilly into town and I took Zoey and Piper for a walk, then just stayed out and enjoyed the wonderful temps and fresh air .. it's almost 30F
Lorna's new Mule will be here next week sometime. This one is white .. we're all excited for her ..

DH is helping with the set up of a Sportsman's show this evening, will man a table with his buds for the weekend.
TIME CHANGE WEEKEND ..

My hairdresser (and Lorna) and, DS Murrays babysitter as a child .. Dad passed away ..
'PEPPY' (Peter) was a character fer sure ..
Will be attending the funeral on Monday .. he was 87 .. lived beside them when we were a newly married couple ..

Off to play cards
